Day 22
Many people believe that good and evil are a part of life throughout the world, with plenty of evidence of each to some degree. What shapes each of us is how we experience these oposing elements, and how that experience affects our choices and us. Think about the three individuals who survive Arrow One's crash landing. Identify the good and bad qualities in each of them as well as the good and bad choices they make. What causes them to behave in the way they do? What kidn of previous life expeirences might have shaped their personalities? Based on your personal experiences what do you think your response would be to the situations they were under? What do you think would be your possibility of success under these situations? Why?

I am not sure how I would do under these situations. I mean, I think it's something you have to experience to find out if you're good at it. I think the characters in this book all come from very different background. My response under this situation would be to keep everyone working together and to like, get a fire going. I would also look for supplies and build some form of shelter. My possibility of success? Well, the success rate of being rescued is probably incredibly low. I think it would be low because, well, you're stranded on an island.
There are both good qualities and bad qualities in every individual. As for Ralph he has the good strong leading qualities, but he's kind of a quiet boy. Piggy as they like to call him has the good qualities of memorizing people's names and being optimistic. However, he doesn't always listen and wants to do something the others told him not to do. Jack has a stronger leading personality. But he tries to make everyone believe that he is in charge and that he is the best one out of all of them. The good choices that Ralph made were to call a meeting of all the boys. But he made the bad choice to tell everyone about Piggy's nickname when he was told not to. Piggy makes a good choice in spotting the conch shell and going to get it. Without it they wouldn't have found all those kids. Or at least not as fast as they did. Jack made a good choice in following the sound of the conch shell. If he hadn't they probably wouldn't be together. I think the confinement and having no adults around makes them behave the way they do. It's mostly just human nature. They know how to survive under certain conditions. I think that the kids that are from bad or nonsupportive homes have completely different personalites versus kids that are from good or supportive homes. What kind of home life you have usually shapes your personality. I'm not exactly sure what my response would be to the situations they are under. I think its because I haven't experienced it myself so I wouldn't know how I would act. But I would probably be a follower if I was in this situation. I would want everyone to stick together and work together to survive. We would need to get a fire going and possibly find some fish or something to eat. We would also need to work together and find supplies and build some shelter. I'm not sure what my possibility of success would be. But if I was stranded on an island and most likely nobody knows I was there the success rate would probably be very low. But you never know whats going to happen. I guess I would actually have to be in that situation to know what I would do or how I would react.
The twilight zone video made me accualy think a little bit. It is so funny how they were accualy in Nevada and not in outer space that would be a horrible experience. I think the captain was a great person. He was looking out for the goodof the group and not just for his self he was a natural born leader i think. They other one wanted everyone was also a leader in a sort. I didnt really listen to the captian and he did what he wanted to do it didnt matter about the group. I think part of that is growing up and being handed everyone and not having to work for anything. I think i would have good succes under this because i have a good leader and look out for the group and not just my own back.
Corey, the astronaut who killed everybody, clearly had some issues. First off, he was very greedy about his water. For a simple canteen of water, he killed two men. Not only that, but these were men he had trained with and knew well. Corey was greedy, he was selfish, and he was thirsty. The commanding officer was too trusting in the basic good of human nature. He believed that these two men, who openly claimed that they would kill each other over water, could put aside their dispute in order to reconnoiter the "asteroid." This quality led to his demise. Earlier in his life, maybe corey suffered from dehydration, and he knew that he didn't want to experience it again. If i were to be put in their situation, I'd like to think that I would just do what my commanding officer said, but you never know. The heat and the dehydration can drive a person to do crazy things. I'm not sure what you mean by success in this situation, but the chances of success are very slim when you crash land in reno nevada. It's a brutal town with completely incompetent law enforcement.
I think that certain experiences change the way we think and act. Our views and opiouns change because of diffrent situations. The captain of the crew was a good person. He was trying to save the remaining members. The other not selfish guy just got screwed over. I think he was good but put in a bad situation. The selfish guy was pretty much a dickhead. He was looking out for only himself. That situation made him believe he was going to die but when he saw the telephone poles he felt bad. I think that the life or death situation is what made him kill the remaining members. I understand how he reacted but I think he went a little to over the edge. He shouldnt have been so selfish. I dont really think there would be a possiblility of success because you are basically screwed in a situation like that.
What? I dont understand this. I think that people have a bad, and good side dependin on how they grew up. Somebody could have everything they want and still be a horrible person. I dont know what situations im suppose to be under haha. If a plane crashed i dont know what id do. Just try and survive. If i were stuck on an island i would want to be stuck wit Oprah. Thats because people would actually look for her. Also many people look up to her. So people would look for her and id be wit Oprah when they found her. So the rescuers would have to take me too. Nobody can really replace her job. Like the vice-president can replace the presidents job plus if they found me wit the president they would think i kidnapped him and i'd be in big trouble. Anybody can replace an actors job too.
I think the Captin of the three guys had alot of good qualities. He wanted them all to help each other out and he makes alot of good choices. The guy who Corey kills doesnt do much but he seemed like a good enough guy. Corey was the bad one of the group. He only cared about himself and he was willing to kill if it ment he would survive longer. I think fear is what caused Corey to act the way he did, he was afraid of dying. I think the captin was probobly raised to be caring to others and always help out his friends, Corey was probobly raised to be selfish. I hope if i was in this situation i would help out the people i was with so that we all might make it out alive. I think if we all worked together we would be more successful then if one of us killed everyone.
In the crash landing which they thought was on a metor brought out the true identity of each person. The captian was a great leaders but didn't turn his head the other way when corey starts to go crazy. He looked out for everyone but that is what also ended up getting him killed. Corey was a strong leader too, but he didn't think things out. He acted first and then asks questions later. Even though he helped out looking for anything useful, he killed his captian. The other guy wasn't really important. He just kind of went out and died for no reason. They started to act this way because they thought they would be stranded forever. They didn't know they were still on Earth. Flaws in the past life may have been the reasoning for why they act the way they did. Their new personalities based around the flaws of their past life. I would probably go crazy under the same situations that these people were under. Thinking that I am going to be along for ever like that would drive me crazy. The only reason why might succed under these circumstances is if I just stopped caring about everything because I thought I was going to die anyways.
I thought that this was a good twightlight zone. I had no clue that they would just be in Nevada. What struck me is that at the end of it the one man alive sees that he is still on earth. He immediately regreted that he killed those other two men. The main leader guy was trying to keep everyone in line even though he thought there was going to be know way they were going to survive. I thought for a while that they corey guy was part of life on the "new planet" that there ship landed on. I dont think anybody could have guessed that they were still on earth. Overall this was a very shocking one.
I think that when somebody gets stranded on an island with people they don't know it would bring out more of the evil within them. Only because it would be a fight for survival and plus it would make it a lot harder with people you don't know. But in this situation I would say it would be best to work together to make a shelter for all of them so that they don't die sleeping out in the open. Their behaviors would have to change because now they are living together and surviving together so they have to all work with each other in order to stay alive. Like the Twilight Zone we watched today, the guy that kills everyone got lucky because he was still on Earth but if he wasn't he would not have made it. My personal experience if this were to happen to me would probably be to just make something noticeable form the sky like a not on a beach that is made from rocks or logs. I would also try to help the others survive by getting food and water from the ocean and keep us fed. I would rather this not happen at all in any case but if it were to, I would do anything to get back to my home.
Under the situation that these few kids are under i don't know exactly what i would do. I probably wouldn't be so brave and gone swimming and exploring through the island on my first day. First of Ralph, think that's how its spelled, has been very adventurous so far. Ralph has climbed rocks, gone swimming, and even hunting for more survivors. I don't think Ralph's choices are good or bad i just see him as an optimist. Second is "Piggy" our fat and nerdy little friend. I find piggy to be the safer person, he may be held back due to asthma but i find him to be a realist. Im not completely sure i did this right :)
some good qualities of the the men who lived were that they were trying to ration their food and water, and also trying to find out where they were at. and also see if there was any hope. bad qualities is that one of them was getting selfish and not wantign to save the fourth man. things that cause them to behave the way they do is that there is not much water and the heat and sun is gettign to their heads. previous life expierences that could have helped them are things like actualy being stranded and have to live off of what they had. my response to their situations would be to just sit tight and not use any energy we didnt need to use. so we wouldnt sweat and lose our water in our body. i think that yes i would be able to survive with this situation because of what and how i would react to it.
Todays episode definatly made me think about what i would do in tha situation. Right not i think i would be more like the commander. He was doing what he could to fix their given situation. I would use my knowledge to help us survive as long as possibe. At the same time i would enlist the others to help out as well and come up with the ideas. As far as food and water goes i would divy it all up evenly in the beginning so that noone was getting more than the other. Then if one of them the remaining would split what was left evenly as well.
This a preety epic twilight zone. There was no way they were out of the planet to to that of the oxygen. If they were out they would all be dead. But they sonned found out or one found out that they were in a desert in nevada. The good choices they make was to conserve the water and to find some where to sleep. The poor decision was killing the people. Then he found out the hard way. What caused them was insanity because they alll new they were going to die. What kidn (i guees thats how you speel that word)of life experiences that might of triggered them was probley how they grew up and how they were raised. What i would do if i was in this situation would probley freek out and go mad. I would wait to my death or might go searching for hope. My possible sucess would be go out searching. Why this would be is that for hope of survival.
Ralph he has the good strong leading qualities, but he's kind of a quiet boy he doesnt talk to much. Piggy has the good qualities of memorizing people's names and being very positive. He doesn't always listen and wants to do something the others told him not to do. Jack has a stronger leading personality. But he tries to make everyone believe that he is in charge and that he is the best one out of all of them. I think they act this why because they really dont even know whats really going on there just kids they dont know better. What shaped these kids to act this way well i guess i would have to say there parents and the way they were rised. If i was in the situation that these kids were in i dont know how i would act pretty much like them. Just trying to figure out whats going on and how to get out of their.
The three individuals from the Twilight Zone all represented a different side of human nature. The captain believed in survival by sticking together, helping each other, and following the rules. The guy that killed everybody obviously believed in 'survival of the fittest' and obviously got rid of anyone that was in the way of his own survival. I don't remember much about the other character, other than the fact that he was maybe too naive and gullible to see that he would get killed by the other guy. I think these people behave the way they do because of their upbringing. The guy that killed everyone maybe had to fend for himself when he was growing up, giving him a ruthless personality, while the opposite goes for the captain. Based on my experiences, I would be the more supportive person. Under these situations, I'm not sure what I would do. I really doubt I would kill someone unless I definitely would die.
Well, to begin with their leader had the most good qualities. He was strong, had a clear-cut goal and knew how to motivate. Somethings he didn't do so well was realize that his men weren't acting the way they should and did little to keep them apart. For the murderer guy, he had a good survival sense. The injured guy shouldn't have been given care so they could survive a bit longer. The last guy had very poor survival sense; he was more concerned about dignity for the dead than survival. Methinks that the way they act stems from the fact that they need to survive and have been dropped into an unknown for them. They don't know where they are and don't know how long they'll last, so they revert to their most basic instincts. Survive at all costs. Their personalities weren't really developed very well in the film to tell what their personalities were like or to be able to construe their backgrounds. You could tell the Captain was a military man due to his leadership skills. For the weird guy, he could have been a poor city kid who needed to do what he needed to to survive. My personal responce probably would have been one of despair. I wouldn't know what to do and I wouldn't be able to lead anyone. I'd follow the strongest as I usually do. Methinks that the possibility of success, being plopped into the unknown when you have no idea what to do isn't very high. If the guy hadn't seen the Reno sign, he would have died in that desert if he dind't already.

well, of the multiple individuals, the three that are the most important are ralph, jack and piggy, respectively. ralph is because he immediately took leadership responsibilities. jack, also because he is a born leader. piggy is like the chris farley of the group. literally. he basically provides comic relief in the book. i think their former lives at home shaped who they are. the one who's father eas a navy captain is most imortant, because he has leadership and discipline in him. i think in their situation, i would try to relax and take it easy, while i was freaking out inside. i think i would have a relatively high rate of success. this is because i would try to go with the flow, and i would be the one judging the success rate.
The Twilight Zone video was kinda of boring because I had already seen it before so it really wasn't that surprising. The first character Corey who was kind of a psycho astronaut, the good qualities he has is that he never gave up when looking for signs of any life. He did have many bad qualities though such as the fact that he decided to kill the other 2 astronauts because he was so greedy and he didn't think they would all survive. The second character, the captain, had a lot of good qualities such as being a leader and wanting to help out the rest of the crew survive. I really didn't see any bad qualities of him. And the third guy didn't see much of him so you can't really say his qualities. If I was in that situiation I would try to be like the captain and work together to survive. I think I have a good chance of surviving under these circumstances because I work well under pressure and can work good as a team.

It shapes our personality and how we precive the world and people as a whole. I think that the three people that your talking about are Ralph, Piggy, and Jack. These all have diffreant personalitys. Raplh probebly came from a plain life and now wants to be a hero. Jack is rough probebly had like a bad childhood. Piggy has no parents making him soft. There lives before this is what detirmeds how they will act on the island. If i was in this situation id freak out probebly. I don't know if my mind could coprehend the fact id spend the rest of my life on a island. My success with be very small i think. I don't really have any survival skills to live on a island.
forgot about this yesterday.
the captain was a leader and only wanted the best for his crew although he had to cary a gun to keep them from not illing eachother. the guy that was hit in the head with a rock was just a suck up and only did what the captain said. the last guy that survived was basicly a rebel and did what he wanted to do to survive. i think there mind set caused them to do these things. i dont know what kind of past experinces could have changed there personalies. i would probably stay at the crash site and wade it out. under those situations i would probably die withen a month or two.
The Captain of the ship was obviously a good leader and showed many leadership qualities. I though I did think giving water to people who would survive any way was a bad choice. A good choice he made was he wanted the group to stick together. Corey was someone who was willing to do anything to survive. The bad choice he made was to kill the people that could have helped him survive. A good choice he made was to take the water from the dead person. As for the other survivor, he made a good choice by trying to stick together and help each other. A bad choice he made was to try and follow the code. They needed to worry about how they were going to survive by any means necessary and they need to quit worrying about the rules. When things come to life and death the tension just rises. I think that is what made Corey a little crazy. They Captain may have been in one of these situations before and knew the only way to survive was by sticking together as a group. I would have probably done anything possible to get more water. Even if that means kill the other members because at that pointit is like life or death.
I think the Captin of had many good deeds. the captin wanted for everyone to help each other and make the rright choice.Corey was the bad one of the group. he only cared bout himselve and he would kill if it ment he would live longer. i think i would be like corey becasue i wouldnt want to die. i would like to be a survior and get saved. i sooo rather not be in this situation and not kill people but if guess is i have to would so i can go bak home. idk if i can be successful in this but i can try my hardest so i can be.
I don't really know how I would do given the situation unless I was actually in the situation. I think that the three act the way they do because they got stranded on an island with no parents or rules or anything. It's a scary thing to just be thrust into. Jack is seemingly the biggest douchebag thus far. If I were int he scenario, I suppose I would keep everyone cooperating so that no fights broke out or anything like that. I would also build shelter so the natural environment didn't fuck me over. I don't know how well I would survive though, considering you're stranded on an island. Unless you're Jack Sparrow and you get stranded on an island that rum-runners use for meetings and such. Other than that, good luck surviving on a stranded island unless you are Tom Hanks.
