So, first let me rant a little bit. It amazes me that a group of juniors in high school can behave in immature ways and then never take responsibility for their own actions. While this truly does not apply to everyone, each person in a setting has some level of responsibility to that setting. We, as teachers, waste time telling people to go to the correct seat, be quiet during a test, ask for your make up work after absences or arrange to take a missed test or quiz in a reasonable amount of time.
This comes down to the conversation we had at the beginning of the semester about taking responsibility for your education. This is both the work that needs to be done and the attitude behind it. The sooner you learn this the easier it will be and the less jerky we will seem. Do not blame us for getting aggrivated when we respond to the behaviors exhibited or the lack of support we get from others.
Now for fun, you can respond to the following and indicate the responsibility to the students and the teachers.

I believe this song is about a bunch of kids who are going to school but cannot do anything, they are virtually robots and are expected to do everything just like everyone but the kids want to rebel. When the students continue to be told what to do they burn down the school out of anger. I think they make school look like a horrible place to be. Blowing it way out of proportion by saying that the teachers wont let them do anything at all. In reality at our school its not like that at all, we are lucky to have teachers like Mr. Kay and Mr. Pouliot because they are two of the few teachers that care about our education but still have fun and joke around. Most teachers stick to the rulebook which can get annoying but their job isnt to do the extras to make school fun, they are there to teach. Some people take that for granite and its getting quite old, seriously you cant sit in your seat for the 10 minutes we had left of the test? Thats alittle rediculous considering we are going to graduate next year.

First off, that is the wierdest video i have ever seen.
In the beggening, the student is being picked on by the teacher for a poem which he has written. Next, for some wierd reason, the scene jumps to what seems to be a very tourmenting factory of the teachers for the students. It seems as if the teacher is some phyco and could care less about the students. The students then overthrow the terible things and destroy it all, including all the brick walls that devide all the students. It seems as if the students are expressing the thought of freedom or respect they should get from the teacher as they respect him. The whole scene of tourture and the kids overthrowing things was just a daydream by the student who is being made fun off. Lastly, im not exactly sure what this video ment but feel you are trying to show us how much more you and other teachers treat us and how much more layed back you are. Us students now and at lakeland recieve much more respect for the teachers and we shall respect them back.

First of all, I just wanted to say that this video is really weird and I did not like it at all lol. This video was one of the most just weird and disturbing videos I have ever seen. I think its trying to tell listeners that teachers characterize stduents and put them all in one category and that every stduent is just another brick in the wall. I think its true that students and teachers have certain responsiblities, and that the teachers shouldn't have all the responsibility. Some responsibilities of student are to keep track of what work he/she missed while they were out of school, and the student has the responsilitlity of asking the teacher what he/she missed the days they were gone. Some other responsibilities of students would be to pay attention during class and to not disrupt the class in any way. Also, students need to listen to the teacher and to not question authority. For example, if a teacher says you have to sit in your own seat, don't argue with the teacher and don't go against them and sit where you want. I have seen this happen a lot in class and its starting to get on my nerves. When I'm trying to do work all I hear are people talking with their friends and sitting wherever they want. Some responsibilities of teachers are to help a student if they need it and to expalin to a student what he/she missed the days that student was absent. Other responsibilities of teachers would be to provide a safe learning enviorment and to understand where a student is coming from. Also, teachers cannot make the student feel stupid or embarressed in any way. Both students and teachers have different responsibilities, and some of the kids in our class to to be reminded of their responsibilities.

This Pink Floyd video is kind of weird and I don’t really get it. I think that it is talking about how this kid is just another “brick on the wall” and how he is an individual but is seen the same like everyone else to the teacher. The difference between teachers and student is that the teacher has the upper authority. The students learn from the teacher, but teachers can also learn things from the students. A teacher’s job is to teach, the students job is to listen. When these get a little out of order, it can get messy. I think that if students would just not do stupid things that they know are against the rules, life for other students would be so much easier. Teachers need to make sure that they teach and keep students interested. These are some of the responsibilities that students and teachers have.

This song by Pink Floyd depicts what would happen if students were to completely rebel. In this situation, the students are burning down the school because of being told what to do. I think that students have to face that teachers give us a lot of responsibility and work. But if you think about it, the real world is just the same. As students, our responsibilities are to respect the teacher and other students. We should do our work without complaints and follow directions from the teacher. In turn, teachers should respect the students and listen to what they have to say. In the end, we're all people and want respect from each other. Teachers don't have to go above and beyond to make school enjoyable, so I'm glad I have teachers that do. In the end, students should just listen and do what the teacher says. When we get out of high school we're going to have to do the same thing in college and at a job. Almost everything we do in high school is preparing us for the rest of our lives.
Yeah I didn't like that video at all, it was really weird. I'm kind of confused about it but what I got out of it was that the students thought the teachers were being over strict and ridiculous and thought they would be better off without them. They end up burning down the school in the kid's head and rebelling and going crazy. The kids feel like they can't do anything right and aren't happy. I can relate to this with my parents and feeling like hurting them because they drive me crazy. But I can't do anything because that wouldn't be the right thing to do and would not help anything. I'm not exactly sure how this video relates to responsibility. The teachers shouldn't be so mean and it makes me thankful to have you and mr. pouliot instead of them. The kids should be responsible and accept the fact that authority is part of life and they have to deal with it.
In school there is equal responsibility between students and teachers. I think that teachers should be the people that supply us with the tools needed for our education such as books, papers and the other resources necessary for education. But on the other side of the classroom are the students. The students should respect the teacher and do things that he asks that arnt over the top or rediculous. The students have the choice to either except or deny the information given to them. This balance of responsibility puts more pressure on the students because they have to take education into their own hands. This forces the kids to make time for school and eliminate other distractions. I think that overall the teachers have the greater responsibility to the students.
I think that this song is saying how like the kids are going to school and are exspected to do what the teacher wants. They are pretty much like a whole bunch of robots. THey really have no choice to express themselves at all. They get mad at this adn start to rebel. The kids have had enough with this and think that their teachers are psyco! They begin to break everything in sight including all the bricks. They burn down the building in anger. They kind of blow this way out of porportion school isnt anything like what theyre saying in the video.

I think that this song is weird. It makes a point though, so it's not totally random. I think that the song is refering to the original thoughts of how school "is suposed" to run. The teachers are in authority and the students do what they are suposed to do; to behave and listen. students are being referred to as another "brick on a wall." That is, untill a group of students relize how wrong and unfair everything is so they rebel. This song is basically a song saying "screw you" to authority.
That video confused me so much. I think the song and video are trying to show a young and immature student's view on school and teachers. After the student is made fun of by the teacher, he starts to think of everything wrong with school. He thinks that these individuals are taken and turned into just "another brick in the wall." He feels like the teacher is just there to yell at them and order them around. In his mind, when the students rise up, the school burns down and thet get rid of the teachers. Whether or not he thinks it would be a good thing, I have no idea, but I'm hoping he wouldn't really want that to happen. I think the responsibility of the students is to listen and to respect the teachers. The teachers are there to teach us and they shouldn't have to deal with students' annoying stuff they do. At the high school level, teachers shouldn't just view every person as "another brick in the wall." At a college level it is more like that unless the student takes the time to talk to the teacher. In high school though, we should do what we're supposed to and our teachers should respect us as we should respect them.
i think that what the kids did in the video was pretty awesome. I think the teachers and the school deserved it. Students shouldnt be treated like robots, we arent prodegies. Each student is an individual and they should be treated as such! If that boy want to write or read poetry then the teacher should have let him, its not the teachers problem its the boys, he could've been having a bad day. In the video the students responsibity was only to listen, and the teachers responsibility was to only teacher. I think that both responsiblities are so much greater in real life. Teachers have the responsiblity to get to know kids and to help them out when they are having troubles. I think that the majority of students responsiblity is to lisetn but also to be themselves and an individual. Maybe even show teachers a few things.
Tayler Chase
Just like what most people said about this video being as weird as it is confuses me. I look at the point of view from the kids. From this it looks like their not having much fun at all. It appears that the kids are in a school that has no individuality. Their wearing school suits and are not allowed to write poems which i find ridicules. If our teachers found us writing poems i think they would be very surprised and happy. The teachers look freighting and intimating. They look as if they don't want to help anyone, but make them fail. This is not how a school should look to kids, it should be a quiet, friendly, working environment. Where the teachers responsibility should be preparing us for our future, and the students should be learning day by day and stop making the same mistakes because thats learning.
I believe that this video is about two things. One, is teachers believeing that all children are the same and act the same way, which isnt true. Kids are all different. When I say this, I am specifically refering to how they leanr. Some kids are eager to learn while others are not. Some are very smart and things come to them naturally, others arent. The other this it is saying, is that if you just sit back and do nothing then nothing will change. You will just blend in, "another brick in the wall". This is very true, especially when it comes to learning. As long as you dont cause trouble, you kind of just slide under the radar. You can get ok grades and not really be that social and you will just blend in. Be active in your life. Dont be a "brick in the wall". Break out of your shell and learn. If things are bothering you, try and change them. Dont just sit there.
My interpretation of this video is from the prospective a young student feeling he is being picked on by his teacher. He depicts the teachers as being stict and not caring. The teacher is the authorative figure and the student felt like he was being harrassed. In the video the students felt lie they were robots and are nothing more than just "another brick in the wall". With everything in society, when people feel they are being pushed and not treated rigt they rebel. The students rebelled against the teachers destroying the school. Teachers and students both have responsibilities. Students have a responsbility to be respectful, being responsible for doing their work, and listening to their teacher. The teacher is responsible for providing a safe learning environment, being respectful of their student, and providing their students with information to learn. Teachers take on this profession because they want to teach and have a gift of helping students learn. This is something they want to do and we should respect them for this. It's not an easy job to do and it's a huge responsibility. It is not a teacher's responsibility to be a babysitter; we are juniors and we should know how to behave. Mr. Kay and Mr. Pouliet make our class fun and it's irritating when some students don't respect the learning environment they provide. It's a two way street.
The responsibility to the teacher is to get the work done and turned in to the teacher, so that the teacher knows the student is understanding and can replicate the material on their own. The responsibility of the teachers is to teach the material to the students and make sure they are comprehending it and are able to rememeber and replicate it on the assignements. Some or most teachers even try to push their students by giving them huge projects every week, and getting aggrivated when their students arent working up to their potential. Though some students dont bother working on their school work, and on their grades, because they think their social life is more important, and they do not have the ability to balanace all these aspects of a students outside life in with school. Then there are the students who have the aspects in control and balanaced, and theyre either doing well or good in school. In the case of this weird music video, the responsibility of the students was to obey every command of the teacher, but then they started to dissobey them and go against them no matter what the teacher threatened. The teachers in this video were to be strict to the students, and punish them whenever they did the slightest thing against their wishes.
Although this video was weird, it has a strong message. It is saying that kids are sick of the overpowering teachers. They didnt like the formal way of teaching, and basically were rebelling against it. They were sick of teachers treating like another brick in the wall, and wanted nothing more of it. They are saying that teachers were abusing their job, and being too powerful. They also felt like they were being treated like robots, because they couldnt do anything outside the lines, or on their own. Now, i know you are supposed to respect your teachers, but it is a little hard when a teacher is being unfair, or wrong about something. So i think this song is trying to say that students shouldnt take that from teachers anymore, and stand up for what is right.
The video shows students being tormented by teachers. The students are fed up with being told what they can and cannot do. The students are like robots in a way that cant be controlled when they begin to chant. The responsibility of students are to allow those who educate for a living do their job with the least amount of distractions possible. Students are in school to learn, therefore it is the teachers responsibility to provide students with the proper education. Teachers are to create an environment that best suits there teaching style. Teachers should be educators before any other quality.

Well, I feel like I wasted six minutes of my life. That viedo was really weird. The cool thing was that I wasnt expecting some of the things that that happened. It started off my the teacher making fun of him for his poems or whatever. Then they started saying something and then started singing. I wasnt sure if what was walking was actually people or something fake. The facial expressions were kinda creepy. and when it showed all the kids in the divided rooms it was kinda tweaky. What I think was going on here though was that the boy was day dreaming about school and teachers were the worst thing ever. Thats we as kids, teenagers whatever, dont need them or education. I'm not really sure what we were supposed to get out of that though...
soooo first of all. I missed after school detention today. i tried to call your room but you didnt answer. i had to sub in for a girl i dance with in her pre-school class.
As for the song, i didnt really like the video, it was really wierd. But i think that the song is saying that theachers kind of stick us all into one group, and assume that we are all idiots and that they are supperior. In the same boat though, this song also says how as students, we kind of have the same view on all teachers, or atleast we have our preconcieved notions about them. I think that this song is basically saying that we all steriotype eachother into these groups before even getting to know how somebody is different. Its not like we do this to such a dramatic effect, like the video shows, but we all do it. I think that it is the responsibility of both the students and the teachers to take the time to figure someone out before judging them, and we all need to make our selves stand apart and above those around us so that we dont end up as just "another brick in the wall" to our peers.
This video portrays teachers as people who won't let us be who we want to be. The boy, for instance, wanted to write poems but the teacher put him down for writing them. All the students were like robots because of the teachers. The teachers made all the students conform to what they wanted them to be. Of course, if you have grownups repressing kid's beliefs and dreams they start to revolt, and in the video they did. They flipped desks over and broke down a brick wall. I think that symbolizes the kids destroying the repressing wall that's been holding them back. At Lakeland it's nowhere close to being like this, THANK GOD! I would die if our school was like this. Truthfully, I believe we're lucky to have teachers like Pouliot and Kay because they actually care about our education. They even try to make it more fun for our own benefit. The kids that take their generosity for granted with their snarky aditudes need to knock it off 'cuz it's getting old. I'm sick of having to pay for what other people have or have not done. I think all the teachers need to do a little extra to make learning seem worthwile for us as students, and I think the students need to be more greatful for teachers like Pouliot and Kay.
James Richardson
I think that this song is saying that kids feel like they are being molded into the same person as everybody else. They expect teachers to critize them and scold them. Teachers expect kids to misbehave and be irresponsible. In the song it makes it seem like teachers take away students individuality and try to demolish their imagination. I think that in real life teachers do need to lecture us a bit to make us more responsible and more able to suceed. However, we are able to stay true to ourselves. Teachers need to understand that many of us are responsible and try our best. However some students ruin the teachers thinking by acting like they are two. It's a students responsiblily to get things done by themselves and try their best. Also, to get help if they need it. Teachers are basically there to guide the students and help them succeed. They also need to relize that we are all different and have a different ways to go about things and as long as we are able to keep caught up and do well then it should be fine.

I like the song and have heard it many times but the video is a bit different. I know the song is about kids protesting themselves against abusive teachers. It's quite obvious what there doing.
I think a students responsibility is to respect the teacher by listening, working, etc. We are suppose to be here for a reason and one reason only, learn. I think students need to respect a teacher just like anyone else, it's there job to teach you not make you happy. Students also have to do all work a teacher grants to us, that's our job.
Teachers give students a respectful learning environment, dedicated attitude and a chance to succeed. That is really all they should be responsible for.
This song shows how one little boy feels about his school. THeres teachers who teach and students who listen but the students dont think for themselves. Instead, they just believe what the teachers tell them and take it as fact. Teachers opinions are what the kids believe. Then, as the kids are all turning into un-opinionated robots, they rebel. This shows that the teachers job is to teach and the students job is to absorb, to a certain extent. They students job is to absorb the knowledge and then think for themselves. Many students these days do not do the thinking for themselves part, and thats a shame. About the "taking ownership of your education" part, if you are referring to the history essays some of us who were absent did. Some of us went to the teacher the next day and asked for everything they had missed and would need but never received the diagram that ended up being the entire essay. Thats why Mr. Pouliot is so nicely figuring something else out for those of us who did that.
the song was catchy =D. the video was weird but what i saw was these children is like a dictater shool and they all walked around in masks like zombies.this one kid wants to be diffrent with the writing of poetry and the whole song is about breaking him, u kno making him "another brick in the wall" theteachers kinda like brainwashed everone and they turned the kidsinto zombie and theres nothing they can do about it.im hoping u guys dont wanna turn us into zombies i kno some kids are immature but cmon turning us into zombies is a little extreme.
First of all, I would like to compliment Mr. Kay on the excellent choice of music, Pink Floyd has always been a top band and favorite of mine. I think that this song is saying that children and teens will always rebel against rules and regulations. I think it is saying that students ultimately will make their own path and destiny and if they want to take education that schools and teachers are giving then they will decide for themselves. It is basicly saying that in the end teachers don't have control over what the students will do. Teachers also have to connect with students on a basis that they can, and not in a way that is super strict and not open to new ideas. It is the responsibility of the teachers to teach and of the students to learn, if either are doing a good job depends entirely on the individual.

Uh...Is this the right video? It's screwed up. Anyways, the kid is being picked on by the teacher for some poetry he wrote while in his class. The teacher is kind of a douche but if the student wasn't doing what he was supposed to in class I guess the teacher can punish him how he wants. It is his class room after all. Then, it goes to all the students filing through the school like a bunch of robots on an assembly line. The teacher continously picks on the kids. The teacher is kind of like a nazi. "If you don't eat your meat, you can't eat your pudding. How can you eat your pudding if you don't eat your meat!!??" made me laugh really hard for some reason. Eventually, the kids can't take it anymore and burn down the school and cause pandemonium in the school. I think we're lucky we don't have teachers like this. We have the only two teachers in the school who can actually make learning fun and also apply the rules to control a classroom of such a large size. The fact that we can't even sit still for 25 or more minutes is stupid. If we are going to be seniors soon, shouldn't we act like it?
I know of this song by Pink Floyd pretty well, but I have never seen this werid video with it. This song to me is about the relationship between the student and their teacher. That the teacher shouldn't be so rough on the students. And just treat them with the same respect. That in the end "their just another brick in the wall", and won't really be remembered far from now. Maybe just lightening up a bit might help. Their just the one teaching them the things they are forced to learn. When most kids don't think they need education, when they really do. But to children they don't realize that. Its just something they have to do that really doesn't mean anything to them.
I think that this video is showing what would happen if students were to rebel completely against school. They burned the school down to show their anger towards the teachers and the work they give them. No students like it, but thats what school is; Work and more work. Its part of life and the sooner we accept this fact the easier it will become. I think that as a student our responsibility is to stay focused and listen to the teacher. As a teacher, your responsibility is to teach us and to prepare us for the future. What you might also consider sometimes is the fact that we get bored and might need a few minutes to just talk and get it out of our system. But in all honesty I think its a little ridiculous that some people can't sit still like they are told for maybe 10 minutes while you or Pouliot gives instructions.

The most popular line from this song, without need of the rest of the lyrics, has been popularized in culture for several years. "We don't need no education." In fact, call me what ever you will, but I have never heard the full song before, much less could I have told anyone that the musician was Pink Floyd (I do like some of their music (Dark Side of the Moon). In response to the other question, I believe that students have responsibilities, and teachers have responsibilities as well. In the ideal sense (e.g. A perfect world), students have a responsibility to go to class on time, do assigned homework, "speak when spoken to," engage in class discussion, and much more. Teachers have the responsibility of giving students an education, to help motivate students, to grade assignments among other things. (Most) Teachers don't sit around and do nothing. It isn't their responsibility to keep the class "in line," from talking, etc. Life is hard enough for both sides of the spectrum. Lets not make it any harder.
this was an extremely wierd and messed up video. i think what it was trying to convey that students are like prisoners. That students don't have a lot of freedom and have to do what they are told. that there is not a lot of room for thinking outside of the box and everything has to be done strictly and the same. as for resposiblity for teachers and students was something i didn't really see in the video(probably because it was so creepy and wierd.) i believe that teachers have a responsibilty in helping students learn and to acquire the best grade acheivable. that teachers should be open to differnt ways of teaching things and honestly not being so strict. however i believe students should act respectfully, as in not wasting the teachers time. students should be responsible for work they missed and be cconsiderate of others in the classroom.
Well this video was really weird to watch. At first i had no idea what was going on. These students in the video are all like us. They are just normal kids, but the teachers were crazy. It is the responsiblity of the teachers to educate in a way where everyone can benifit. It is the responsiblity of the students to reach out to the teeachers when they are not doing well or not understanding anything. This video shows the opposite of what is happening in our class. The video shows the teachers not respecting the students where as in our class some students are not respecting the teacher. THe kids at the end of the video are fed up with the teaqchers and right now our teachers are some what fed up with some of the students in our class. This video was the most weird.
Zack Ruffin
The song represents what would happen if students could rebel. The teachers are all picking on the students and forcing them to do stuff. The song is pretty much saying that the students are all just bricks in the wall or they are just another student that dosent really mean much. If you think about it its kind of true. The only memories of the class of 2011 is going to be a picture on the wall next to the other 30 classes that have graduated from Lakeland. At the end of the video the students are breaking down the brick wall which represents them rebelling. Pink Floyd's songwriting is amazing and they are easily some of the best musicians to ever create music. They were unique and their music had meaning. However, I find Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett better than Pink Floyd with David Gilmour as lead singer and songwriter
I think this song is about how teachers can be too controlling in school, and how each student has their own way to express themselves. Each and every student is unique and should be treated as such. But in order for the students to be treated with such respect, they need to treat the teachers with the same respect they want. Respect is a two way street, so both students and teahers have a responsibility to meet each other half way. Neither a student nor a teacher is neccisarilly all bad. If either seems that way there is always a rational explanation to the way the act. A student needs to do at least half of what is asked of them, as well as helping other students and perhaps even teachers at times. Teachers need to give students materials that will better their lives in the long run. They should also help out any student that is having any sort of trouble.
Well, this was a very obscure, or in other words, odd and unusual video. The video is trying to get the message across that students and teachers both have their own roles. Also, that students are just another brick in the wall. Going in a little deeper into that concept, it means that they are just another student that has to be obedient, well- behaved, and in line. However, both the student and the teacher should have responsibility. It's the students responsibility to complete their work, ask questions, receive help when needed, and to get all your missing work from your teacher. The teacher's responsibility is to teach us, answer our questions, and be our mentor's through out our high school career's. Although at times we may not agree with what our teachers have to say and with the rules and guidelines they have, but it is our duty to follow then and give our respect towards our authorities. I must say, at times I get aggravated with my teachers (not in particular you or Mr. Pouliot), but with some of my other teacher because I feel they way the teach is difficult for me to learn, but I try to make the most of it. I respect them, do what I am told, follow the rules, and it helps me. If I do my responsibility as a student, in return mu teacher will do his/her responsibility as a teacher. In the end, we both end up having respect for one another.

To me this song is about how going to school can become a mindless task. I think that because the students were becomming like mindless drones. For example when the students were in the factory they did exactly what they were told to do and didn't think for themselfs. If they weren't robot like they wouldn't have walked into the giant meat rinder and became sausage. After a while the sudents can't take it anymore and they rebel. They rebel by burning the school down. It appears that they take the teacher hostage. The responsiblity of the students are to be able to sit in their seat for more than 10 mi utes and behave. For the teacher they job is to teach the students. Even though sticking to the rules. Making learning fun is not their job. But if you want to make it easier and more enjoyable the teacher could joke and have fun while also taching the students.
This song went right over my head. After watching it three times i came to the conclusion that the teacher was treating them like they were robots. At the beginning they were picking on the students and it turned into them going across a track in a trance. I think that this was showing how they were doing everything the same. Doing their work, listening to lectures, staying quiet, was their routine. There was no fun or relationships between the teacvhers and students. The studednts were just another face to the teacher not a person. I think that this caused an overthrow or rebellion since they were sick of the way they had been treated. Today i know on my part was not a good showing of my person. However i see it funny how some people say that they saw people talking and they shouldnt have been, when they were talking too. I see myself as someone like Mr. Kay, i cannot sit still. Like every test i ahve taken in highschool at the end people always are talking. I think that today we put Mr. Pouliot over the edge. However, if he is going to cause a ruckus over the talking today i expect him to do the SAME thing on the next test when other people are talking. Yes, I was someone who was talking and i am being held accountable, but i expect others to be punished the same in the future. Lastly, someone said teachers shouldnt be babysitters. I think that the responsibility of taking a teaching position comes with dealing with kids when they arent acting correctly. This calls for you to be understanding and firm. In this case i think that we pushed it too far but its not necessary to go off onto us, but to know that we learned our lesson. The next test we take it will be a new handful of kids getting antsy in their seats. Finally, as i finish this rant, people have said i suck up to teachers and such, however i find it funny how the same people act like they do no wrong in their blogs and suck up saying how others are so immature and they did nothing wrong. The end.
goodnight
This Pink Floyd song is about a bunch of kids who are going to school. The teachers and administration wants to mold the minds of these kids, and conform them to the ways of society. An example of these is when the kids are going down the conveyor belt into the grinder, and also when they go through the machine to be put in their desks. However, they all get fed up with this and rebel by burning the school down, because they do not want to conform to the ideals of society. I think this relates to the situation at hand because people think this is the way the teachers are teaching. Many people think they have the school on lockdown because they can't move seats, when really we have a lot of freedoms, especially in Mr. Kay's and Mr. Pouliot's class. I am very happy to have these teachers because they actually make class fun, when they don't have to. They also used to let us eat in their classroom. A teacher's job is actually to only prepare us for the real world, and if you can't sit in your own seat during class and talk to your friends during passing time then you are not going to ready for the real world. We used to have more freedoms until people started rebelling even though things were pretty great how they were before. You know, who fix something that isn't broken. IT's a little rediculous that certain people (and who knows, I could be one of them) can't show the respect that their peers deserve, especailly because they would want the same respect.
First, let me say that I agree with your rant. By Junior year people should know when to get things done and be more respectful to people. I feel like in this song the students are portrayed as useless. They say they are just like another brick in the wall. And by that they mean they don't matter to the teachers and they are just another student in the teachers eyes and don't have any importance. And the teachers rolls in the song are to just make fun of the students disabilities and to just stand there and tell information. I feel like after hearing this song I feel lucky to have teachers at Lakeland who care about my education and they want to see my succeed like you and Mr.Pouliot.I feel like if I had teachers like in the song I wouldn't try much in school I would just want to leave and I would dread going to school. The song makes Lakeland look really good compared to what the teachers did in the song.

This video is about a sudden overthrow. The children are tired of being bossed around and told what to do so they start an uproar and take over their school. This happens in many places. For example, we just learned about the French Revolution in history and how the people were sick of living the way they were they abolished the monarchy. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask us to indicate the responsibility of the students and teachers. I will say that the students took great responsiblity in their actions because now they have no school at all. This will affect them later in life. Also, the teachers have bad karma(in my opinion) because they were to bossy towards the students. The students should be given respect and not made fun of because they were reading poetry.

This is really a weird song. The way we are taught is way different that what the video described. The video makes it seem that school is a evil brain washing facility. I feel that the song does point out how students feel about school but it is not a realistic view of school. You point out our weaknesses but you make it funny and try to help us. Any who, the responsibility of the teacher to the students is to teach them what they need to know for life. The responsibility of the student to the teacher is to respect the people who are teaching .
Yeah, this video was crazy. I believe the factory scene explains it all. Teachers have this mindset that all students should be the same. They should all follow the rules exactly. They should all walk, talk, and dress the same way. And, they should all respect the teachers in the same fashion. This factory setting I think is showing what the ideal students would be like for these teachers. They would all be pumped out of this machine that basically die cuts the perfect student. The one main responsibility that any student really owes to a teacher is respect of authority. Teachers have a higher authority than students, so yes they kind of get to tell us what to do. At least when we are in their class room and under their time. A teacher will tell you when it is okay to talk, move seats, listen to ipods, or eat in class. There should be no need to question them if it was followed that simply. Just do what the teacher asks and they will give you privileges in return. They have the higher authority to crack down on you but they also have the higher authority to loosen up on you. It all is a balancing act, a give and take relationship. As Mr. Kay is saying, if we do what he asks, then in return he will treat us more like adults and not seem so aggravated all the time.

After reading a few of the other blogs I understand what you were talking about. The responsiblity of a student is to act mature and treat their teachers with respect. I strive to please everyone and I'm pretty sure I am respectful to my teachers. I would never ever even think about yelling or talking back to a teacher. Teachers have to realize also that we are kids. We have a lot of learning to do but we still need to act mature. Personally I'm glad people got punished today because I have watched it go on for some time now. I'd love to just sit around a talk after a test but I know from experience that when people are talking around you and you are trying to concentrate it just doesn't work. I'm not trying to suck up or anything I'm just happy something finally got done so that now people may not do it to avoid punishment.

I beleive that this song is saying that kids are going to school and are exspected to do what the teacher to do what they are told. They are basically like a glass of robots. They dont get the chance to express themselfs at all in school. Many kid get fed up with that and start to rebel. I dont think school is like this at all. People do what they want. If they want to do well they try hard, if they dont want to do well they blame it on teachers as to why they arent doing well in their class. I think that if we all start following the rules in the class room it would make our lifes and also the teachers life much eiaser.
I think that it is talking about how this kid is just another individual but is seen the same like everyone else to the teacher. I think that students have to learn that teachers give us a lot of responsibility. But if you think about it, the real world is the same. As students our responsibilities are to respect the teacher and other students. To do our homework and be quite in class and follow along. Teachers have a lot of responsibility's also. They have to make sure every student they have is learning as well as every other student. They have to make sure there doing their best so everyone can pass.
The video shows how students in schools are controlled much like robots. I think the way this is shown is still some what present. Although teachers preach about being yourself and doing things your way, the teachers want things done a certain way. They put us in assigned seats, make us do things in certain order and make us do things the way its most easiest for them to grade. However with out the guidance of the teachers, schools would go crazy, like the school in the video. Overall schools a pretty confusing place teachers want you to be responsible and mature but don't treat us like mature adults because we don't do the things the way they want us to do them but they tell us to be different and transcendental at the same time. Very confusing. As seen in the video, teachers build students up like robots and control what they do. Like Napoleon said teachers build there students from mud. I think that most teachers take there authority way to far and explode over things that aren't that big of a deal. For instance senior pranks, back in the day my dad and his buddies got away with almost anything and now a simple prank is blown out of proportion and the consequences are much higher.

I think that this song is about a bunch of kids who go to school for nothing. They are expected to do everything right. The kids however want to be rebels. They blow it way out of proportion however by saying that the teachers dont let them do anything at all. In reality its not like that, Mr. Pouliot and Mr. Kay are good teachers because they like to relate to the students. We are lucky to have them because they care about us. They like to have fun and joke around. i love them as teachers and i like the style they teach in.

I think this video is just relaying what you are saying in your blog. Teacher all give us responsiblities and expect us to do them. The teacher in the video only sees the kids as a whole and not the kids who are actually good. If other kids who broke the rules didnt it would be easier for the rest of us. Teachers want respect and when they dont get it they get aggrevated. I think this is all good though because it prepares us for college and eventually for our jobs. Our bosses are not going to give us second chances to be respectful and we are not going to be able to half ass stuff. We sure as hell wont be able to turn stuff in late.

I think this song is about the kids feeling trapped. Like the minute they step out of line, something horrific will happen. When these kids finally decide to rebel, they burn the school in hatred. Which, in fact makes school in general seem like a terrible place to be. When in reality, it's not that bad. During the daydream the boy has, it implies the lack of respect between teacher and student. I think the song also implies how teachers look at students in a general form, as apposed to individuality. When adults period do that to kids, it almost forces some sort of rebelious act to show that we are different from eachother and should be treated differently.

School is not for us to come, blow off the teachers and do what we want. The purpose of school is to get an education. Teachers are supposed to prepare us for the real world. Students are responsible for their own eduation. It is up to us to listen, ask questions and most importantly learn for ourselves. In the real world, we are not going to have a teacher to stand over us, keeping us on task and constantly prompting us to listen and work diligently. However this Pink Floyd song does represent a very negative aspect of our public education. Don't get me wrong, I think education is by far one of the most important privaleges anyone can have, but in my opinion I think that our school system is created to shape people who relate greatly to the main lyrics of this song, "another brick in the wall." I totally feel like at school we are shuffled along through the day. It is so overly structured with overwhelming amounts of rules and each day going by so repetitively like clock work. Each day becomes nothing more than a habit. (Tomorrow will be the same as today and today is the same as yesterday. If that makes any sense.) Schools are preparing us for the world, but they are also compulsively taking away most hope for free spirits, imagination, dreams and open mindedness. I guess I can not blame the school system because it has taught me that you can not succeed in life living for dreams. So I suppose in actuality, we pretty much are all just bricks on a wall. I appreciate your rant and I agree. I am a dumbass and I should have not assumed I would be able to make up my two missing vocab tests on the same day. I did not blow it off for one second, I just assumed it would be easier to make them both up the same day. I like to think that it is not fair that I work my ass off to earn my grade in the class, and one simple mistake is going to screw me up for the rest of the term, while there are kids out there who don't even try, but will probably get the same grade as me this term because they weren't absent, but i know that life is NOT fair. I can't blame you at all, because I know my education is my responsiblity. Whatever no excuses. Life sucks. I learned my lesson so as I struggle all term to raise my grade, I will remember never to take chances and assume. It's just becoming harder and harder to care anymore when everyday there seems to be something new setting me back no matter how hard I try, but I guess all I can do is live like a brick on a wall.
Youtube wasn't working so I am doing it tonight. So I think this vidoe is weird. I think the teacher does not see the students for what they are but more like they are all the same. Otherwise the students are individuals but the teacher sees them as the same. Teachers rule the classroom. What they say to do, you do it. They are there to teach and not to make it mor fun. Students have to listen to the teacher. The student should get some say in what happens during the hour, but it does not work out that way always.
well umh that video was by far the weirdest thing ever. I think this song is about students that arnt respected. They are told what to do and are supose to follow in the crowd. The kids finally rebel by burning down the school. I think that its exaggerated by not being able to do absolutly anything but it proves a point. I think that also they are saying the teachers treat the kids like "another brick in the wall" like just another student not careing about them or respecting them. I actuall could of made that whole thing up becasue i honestly dont get that song but whatever i tryed lol.
I went to my grandmas house to get this done today so please give me credit for it.
I think that this song is about a group of kids who go to school but cannot speak for them seleves. The go but they just go day by day repeating the same actions, kind of like they were programed. They get sick and tired of this and want to rebel. They are continously being told what to do and they reach their breaking point. Out of complete anger they burn down the school, to show that they cant always be told what to do. Yeah sometimes teachers can be hardasses about things, but in this video they blow it way out of proportion. Teachers are only hard on because they care about our education. I think that we are very lucky to have teachers like we do at lakeland. They are all very nice for the most part and usally let us get away with things that would not nessecarly be tolerated else where.

This video was extremely odd, but I like the song. I think the video is saying that each student is the same when there is order in the classroom. No one has the freedom to stand out and show their personality. Everyone is confined in what school is supposed to be like. The teachers responsibility is to educate us students in the classroom. They are also responsible for keeping order and teaching us discipline. Students have the role of behaving and excelling in whatever is given to us. Nowadays that isn't enforced as much but to a certain extent it's realistic.
my computer has been down.
This music video is a good example of kids just wanted to be an individual but being forced to conform to what the school and the teachers were telling them they had to be. This is showing the outcome of what could happen if you push your students in to conforming to much. Obviously this music video is over exaggerating what could happen in reality if they were pushed to conform. I think the teacher in this video needs to lighten up a bit because teaching like he does in the video is never going to make your students want to learn or even enjoy learning. At the beginning the teacher reminded me of you Mr. Kay, but this teacher was a lot crueler than you would be to ta student. You joke around with your students and make class a little more entertaining rather than having a boring class that's not fun at all. After watching this video I am glad I have the fun teachers for my lit and history class because I could have a teacher like the one in the video. The teachers responsibility in the class room is to teach the class. They are also supposed to keep the class in line. The students job is to learn and do there assignments that the teacher has given them.
I think this video was weird. It was kind of confusing, but i think its saying that teachers just treat everyone the same and are expected to all be or turn out to be the same person. But thats not true everyone is different. I think the student blew it out of proportion. The teachers jobs are to teach us and prepare us for further education and our future. As students, our responsibility is to learn and do hat needs to be done for school. School i what shapes your future, it determines your job, your house, your car, who you marry, your kids, everything. I think that we just need to adapt to it because complaining doesnt change it, it still needs to be done.
