Hopefully, you understood why we did these presentations. Each country is unique in what it does for it's people and the history that it shares with them as well. People are inclined to feel a connection to the country they grow up in and to create some of their values and cultural expectations based on their country of origin. Some countries are stronger in making that connection yet, as can be seen through the presentations, there is not a country out there that does not have pride.

i very much agree with this quote. I think what he is saying is that to be a real hero you should be your self. you should TRY to be a hero. If you really are one then thinkgs just come like helping someone out in different ways things like that. I think this man i very much right about this and i agree with him. But one thing is everyone is not a coward. some people are themselves but are just rude are are far from heros. That is all i have to say.
I agree with this quote. In order to be a hero, you have to be yourself. If somebody out there realizes that you are a hero, they will spread the word, and next thing you know, you are classified as a hero! I very much agree with this quote.

i really agree with and support this quote. it basically states how people don't mean to be heroes. because you cant really plan a heroic event. you wont be celebrated for doing a normal everyday thing, that you lay out for yourself. heroism is mainly impulse, reaction, and adrenaline. like medal of honor winners, they just do what it takes to save lives, and think about themselves after the fact. which is why there are relatively few people famous for heroic events, for th reason that it takes extreme courage, determination, and decision making.
I believe this means that nobody actually tries to be a hero. This happens by complete coincidence. I also think it means that when people realize they're a hero, they wish they weren't. I don't believe anyone goes out of their way to be a hero. I believe the opportunity has to come to them. One example of purposely being a hero that I can think of is people helping needy children in Africa. Because of things like this, this quote isn't necessarily true.
i agree with this quote in every way. there are no supermans or bat mans in the world. a recent example of heros are the people on flight 93. these people had their plane hijaked and tried to take it back to save innocent lives. these people were not looking fo fame or fortune. they were just ordinary people looking out for ordinary people. most heroic acts simply come from impulse or fear and sometimes even selfishness. but there are also everyday heros as well. police men put their lives on the line all the time. being a hero can be as easy as opening the door for an old lady. its not up to you to say that your a hero or not. if you truly are a hero then just do what you do and one day youll get recognized for it and even if you dont thats ok too because being a hero is not all about the fame and glory. its about the smile you get when you help out others.

Wow, this quote isn't as easy to decipher as some of them are...
In my opinion, I think that this quote means that a hero isn't someone who flaunts it, or even means to be one. It's more of a spontaneous-accidental type of deal. Take for example, a scientist who cures the common cold, they would be considered a hero because no one would need to deal with the "sniffles" anymore, WOOHOO!!! No, seriously, I hate colds, and anyone who cured them for good would be my hero.
A real example is someone like a random person off the street who tells someone on the verge of suicide, (like in that movie What Women Want,) that they mean something. They may not realize that they're a hero to the other person, they instead just do something nice.
Also, I don't think that being a hero means serving your country or being a good citizen or a wonderful politician, (laugh here) or doing anything of that sort. Instead, true heroism is carried out by regular people, without any kind of fanfare or ceremony and it's just spontaneous. It doesn't need to be anything daring or life-saving, just something that is out-of-the-ordinary for what people usually do. A great example is just being a friend to someone who is terminally ill. You don't do anything that gets you on TV, but you do something compassionate and honest for someone. Overall, heroes are humans, who do something human.
The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else.”
I agree with this quote. I think that a hero should be unique and diffrent from the pack. Someone to be looked upon. I think that the people that try to be heros are cowards but the people that are real heros have it come natural. The heros that are cowards are there for the luxury items. The heros that come natural are the simple people in life that care and do their part. A hero has to be brave and intelligent.

Right when i read this quote is touched me, to me this means that great things come from people who dont try ( i know that doesnt make much sense but its true) it seems as if people who dont care what people think and are just themselfs something great becomes of them. A couple people come to mind when i read this such as, vango ( the painter) and actually chris, the main character in "into the wild" He was a hippie trying to find himeself so he went into the wild to escape the madeness world of materialistic creaters so called "humans" anda after he died he bacame non the less than a hero for being himself a searching for something he would never find. This quote is amazing and has really made me think about life and the future. dont think about being successful, just be yourself and fight for what you want and you soon might be someones hero.
sorry for being absent today, i felt like shit :(

This quote is very true. People that become heros aren't looking to become them. Heroes are people that just do what they think is right. They don't go out trying to be a hero they just go out and live life. People that go out looking to be heroes aren't usually successful, they usually get dissapointed because not everyone is meant to be one. I think people should just do what's right and be a good person because it's the right thing to do. The more you want something the more you will be dissappointed.

I agree with the quote, a man who trys to be a hero dosnt always make things wright. A person who is a real hero is someone who does something out of kindness of the heart. Not because they try to but because it comes naturaly. I think a hero is someone who is them self and not someone else. SO if you wanna be a hero dont try to be something your not because it will just make you look stupid.

To me, this quote is saying that heroes are just like you and I, "honest cowards". Which means that heroes are not superhuman like we make them out to be. These people are heroic because they dream big, live richly, and choose to make actions that seem to be larger then life. Heroes do things that other people would not dare to go out and do, yet they choose to do anyways. They have quailites that everyone looks up to and wants to be. Though, we fail to sometimes see is that they are simply human. Since everyone is created equal, they were not possessed with some magic heroic quality. Yet are the everyday people who make use of what they are god given. To me, a real hero is someone who is who they really say they are. I find it extremely rare to meet someone who actually says who they are everyday in life. People claim to be a certain way, when really they are not at all. A true everyday hero is someone who is uniquely themselves. To me, that takes great courage, strength, and wisdom from within and above.

I seem ti agree with this quote. most people that happen to become heros dont want it upon them. the people who want to fit in almost always have somthing to prove. most people dont want to feel diferent, so they blend in because its the easier thing to do. There are other people who try to be heros...these people are never what they say they are. these people are the ones who do this for money or greed. many many books and movies all teach or show this lession.

i honistly love this qoute. i agree with it 110% this qoute is telling us that we dont need to try to be a hero. all we need to do is do the things in life that are right. just try to be a good person and soon enough a time will come where you will look like a hero, but really you were in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. if we are all just doing are best to help out and do are part i belive everyone is a hero in some way shape or forme.
I agree with this quote very much. People don’t try to be heroes there just there at the right time. Some people when they become heroes they don’t want to be one because of the popularity. They just want to be like everyone else. Everyone is a coward in some way. We all have a fear that will make us a coward. It’s your chose if you want to be a hero or not.

I very much agree woth this quote. Being a real hero means you do it out of the goodness of your heart and not asking for anything in return. Most people who are heros just do it out of the goodness of their heart. For instance the new york subway accident a few years ago when a man jumped in to save a guy about to be hit. That guy didnt even hesitate to help him. I believe that is what this quote means.
Scott Roteman
This quote was a little bit more difficult to understand. I think it means that hero's aren't born, they are simple there in the moment. Someone who gloat's, in my opinion, i loose more respect for them. I belive that a hero can be anyone and it can happen any time. Someone who shows off about it, isn't a true hero. The one in the crowd that does something that everyone notices is a hero. This quote is very interesting and i really agree with it.
“The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else.”
This quote means to me that, the best things in life come when you aren't out there lookin or waiting for them to happen. Peopl who are hereos in our lives aren't waiting their whole lives to do something spectacular in this world and get recognized. The real heroes become hereos unintentionally and when they are least expecting it. I believe that God has a set plan for all of us, and that everything that is happening in our lives is happening for a reason and for us to learn and grow from it. So if God puts you in that heroic position, you have no choice but to take it and run with it. So technically, it isn't a mistake for hereos to do the tasks that they do, because that was God's intentions that whole time, you just had no idea about it. In reality, you would rather be the face in the crows, watching and waiting for someone else to take charge like the most of us do. But the select fiew that are put in those positions, are put into them on purpose, but in their minds it is just a mistake.

“The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else.”
Who wants to be in the spotlight honestly? This person might pretend not to be the hero or not aim for that at all. He could still want to make a difference in the world. I think this is saying the a real hero doesn't want the spotlight of a hero.
Personally, I agree with the point he/she was getting at. I think that what this saying is trying to get across is that the person who does something just to get the credit of doing it, isnt truly a hero at all. The man who does something great without wanting fame, or the glory is the real hero. People who do annonymous things can be considered heros because they dont want to recieve any credit. I think that being modest and not taking advantage of doing good things to make yourself look better is a great thing. It can open the eyes of some people who never had anything nice happen to them. In my point of view, thats what being a hero is all about.
“The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else.”

i think this quote is saying be yourself and good things will come of it. the people that try to be the hero won't always be the hero. they sometimes try to hard. the people that are successful are those who don't try. True heroes are those who help you. it's kind of like the people in Iraq. they aren't there to be heroes, they are there to fight for what they believe in.
I agree with this quote. I do believe that someone who becomes a hero doesn't always want to be recognized. They want to help out in the world and do it for the better. They dont want to become famous for their heroic actions. They just want to make the world a better place. A real hero doesnt try to be a hero. They do good for someone and they get recognized whether they want to or not.
A very fine quote, Marc.
The dictionary defines a hero as 'someone who fights for a cause' and 'a man distinguished by courage and nobility and strength' (among other definitions which relate to the Greek that hold no bearing to me). Nowhere is it mentioned that a hero is a simple man, a person who does not try to be 'good' or a protagonist, and it should. To me, and seemingly to the author of the quote, a hero is someone who does not try to be, and does not intend to be, and does not wish to be. A hero, to me, is a plain folk. One is not required to serve his homeland, to be the greatest of all people, or to protect mankind. One is only required to do a simple thing that, to another, is revered as a great thing. A simple compliment will suffice. I also believe that everyone has a hero, and everyone is a hero to someone else. It reminds me of the quote, "To the world, you are one person. To one person, you are the world."
“The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else.”
Annonymous
I disagree with this quote. A hero is not always a hero by mistake. Some people do heroic things just so they will get noticed. Other times somebody will do something not just to be noticed, but to actually help make the world we live in a better place. Sometimes the ones that are heros don't try to be, but they are anyway. To get noticed you shouldnt try to be cocky or show off. This is a hard quote to understand I think.
