Day 3

People are driving me crazy for a due date on the paper. I guess the due date, which may have been later had it not been for the pressure, will be Friday by the end of the hour. You will turn in your final copy, rough draft and peer evaluation that should be attached to the rough draft. Please take seriously the comments of your evaluator as I will be looking to see if you followed their advice. Also, make sure it is in MLA formatting. If you question this, please look it up online as you have used it the last 2 years on research papers. Make sure your paper has a unique title that fits the papers. "Fiddler on the Roof" or textbook Paper will not be acceptable. I will be looking closely for examples to support you statements and also a works cited page.

As for today's blog:

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
~ John Wooden ~

This quote says alot. I think what he is saying dont be who everyone thinks you are be who you really are. You dont wanna live a life that you are being forced to. Alot of people at our school are like this. They must be what everyone wants them to be But not who they really are. Everyone is like this sometimes. So basicly you should always be your self and live life the way you want.

Your character makes up who you are as a person. Reputation is who others see you as. It's up to you to show who you really are and be yourself. This quote means to don't pretend to be someone your not. Sometimes you can loose who you truely are because you get so wrapped up in repuataion. I believe being yourself is so important. Otherwise you would go through life as a huge lie for not being who you truley are. This quote is very true and i agree with it.

I agree with this quote 100%. Your reputation doesnt matter as much as your character. Your characterho is who you are and makes who you will become. Your reputaion changes dayly. Your reputation also can be viewed differently by eveyone. Some people may think your really cool and some make think you sick. But you character also helps how you reputation ends up. You dont want to become someone your not. So make sure you care about who you are and not what other people think of you.

This quote is saying that you shouldn't do things just to get your reputation up. Whether those things are good or bad you should be in touch with yourself.Your reputation doesnt matter because usually people will forget. You dont want to be known for that one thing. That one thing could mean the world to someone but to another people it might not. You should be yourself and people will like you for the person you are. I like and agree with this quote.

This statement makes alot of sence. What is means is that you should be your self and not what others think. Reputation is just what others think of you it really doesnt matter. While your character is who you. This happens alot when people try to be what they are not. People should just try to be themsevlves it would make them alot happier. Many people are just afraid to show who they really are.

I agree with this quote. So many people care about what others think. The most important thing is how you see yourself. Character is a big factor in how you think of yourself. I you have character you wont even care what kind of reputation you have. I should be happy with you are. Don't try to change who you are because of other people. I think this was a good quote.

for a second there i thought it said josh woodhull. as for the quote, its stating that character is more important than reputation. i support this idea and this is why; character shows who you really are, and its what you present to people, instead of reputation, wich is what others think of you. character is how you carry yourself, and how you look upon things. it shows your values, ethics, beliefs and ideas. your reputation, on the other hand, is fabricated of how other people see you. if you act like a jackass, it will follow you. if you carry yourself like a developed, cultured individual, it will also follow you and help you later on in life. this quote, as all of your quotes you give us, is truly correct.

I think this is a powerful quote, and very wisely said by John Wooden. It means exactly what it is saying, that your character is who you really are deep down and what kind of a person you have come to be. While your reputation is basically what people see you as being, whether or not they really know what kind of character you have or what kind of a person you are deep down. I think if we all got passed reputations, and what is said about eachother and stopped believing it until we actually got to know the person's true character, things would be so much different. If we stopped giving people examples as to why we have the reputation we do, and only showed who we really were all the time we would have a much better understanding of eachother. But this is high school, and you are always going to have the reputation you earn, whether you like it or not. But always be more concerned with your inner heart and true character, and if others decide to look past it right towards your reputation, then so be it, let them..

i see that there is some kinda theme going with today and yesterdays blog. You honestly need reputation to reflect your character onto others. It doesn't matter who you are you need to get backed by a rep. and its not just what people think you are. That's only true tho if your a fake person, then as soon as your caught your rep goes down. Its a very delicate system, and needs constant checking. Your best bet though is to just be honest. But there needs to be a balance between character, honestly, and rep because if you don't it will come back on you.

this quote is saying be true to yourself. don't let others opinions about you decided who you are. its what you think that counts. If someone says your stupid or don't do things right, they might be wrong. maybe they were the one that do things wrong. If you listen to these people you will have no self esteem. Other people shouldn't choose who you are.

i think this quote tell a lot. it tells that you should be mor concerned withe who you are and not what people think you are. you might have a great reputation but people might not really know you. how would you feel if no one really knew you? you always put on an act when you were withe your so called "friends". i think it is much more inportant to be your self around people and not be fake and wory about your reputation. i think a lot of the yunger adaults wory about this that the older adaults. reputation is one thing and persanality and character are a nuther. and persanality and character are way more inportant that reputation i think.

I believe the content of your character is very important. You character is who you are as an overall person. People that take the time to find out who you really are, as opposed to your outside image most likely have a positive character. People are judged too much upon their reputation. Not enough people actually take the time to get to know others, so they judge their opinions on thing's they've heard about a person, etc. This can cause a lot of negative rumors about good people. Ultimately, your character is much more important than your reputation.

This quote is basicly as simply put as possible and i agree with it. Character is who you are and your reputation is what others think of you. I believe that these two things, like culture and tradition are intertwined. If you have a good character then most people will respect you and this will give you a good reputation. You should not live your life based on what people think you are, you should do what you want. If you get to caught up what people think of you, you might lose your individuality and then your just not you anymore. Simply put..just be yourself.

The way John Wooden describes character to me, is dead on. Character is not about who people think you are, rather who you truely are day in and day out. People will always talk, and that's a part of all stages in life. It's about getting over the fact that people may think your one way becuase of what someone may have said about you, leaving it on the floor, and moving on. It is so important to always be yourself no matter what, even if people may think you are a totally different way. Being the bigger person and doing what you feel is true in your heart, shows a real person with character. This takes much confidence, forgiveness, and laughter to forget about the silly things people may think of you.

This quote is entirely true. Never overlook your character. Always be concerned with what you think you are and who you think you are. Don't pay attention to what others think you are, because in the end only you know what you did with your life and who you became. People are constantly judging, which makes there comments meaningless. People can think your a great person one second and think your a complete ass hole the next. Peers weren's totally made to help you themselves, but rather to help you improve your thoughts on yourself.

I think the quote is saying that don't worry about what other people think of you. You just have to be yourself. It shouldn't matter what people think of you. You should allways be yourself no matter what. You can't pretend who you are just to make other people happy. If you have to pretend to be someone for other people to like you they are not your real friends. So the quote is saying just be yourself.

I think this mean be yourself not be who people want you to be. Do what you want to do in life, have fun with your life. Don’t try to get a reputation for something you really aren’t just cause people think it cool. I have seen a lot of people do this and I ask myself why they do it. I know for fact I wouldn’t want someone to like me for who I pretend to be, I want people to like me for who I am. Reputations aren’t the best thing sometime I do see why people try to get them. All they do is tell you what the person did in life, sometime is good and sometimes its bad. I strongly agree with this quote be yourself.

Mr. Kay this is another great topic for a blog. I believe this quote is saying that you should be more concerned about who you really are vs your reputation of what people think you are. Most people believe reputation is more important at least these days as people dress a certain way and try to act a certain way just to fit in. Sadly for most of us it will take till after we graduate to realize that who we are is who we are and our reputation will mean just about nothing. It is sad to say it that way but that is how it is going to be. Reputation is more of where people think where you stand comparing to other people while character is how you are as a person just you. Soon there will be a day where we will all realize.

Being what others perceive you to be is the epitome of self-absorption. It shows that you are more concerned about how you feel you should be than what you know you are. Your character is something that you cannot change, and that's what I think makes people pretend to be something their not. Fear of what they really are.

It's a rampant epidemic that sweeps the globe. We all want to be "popular" and accepted, so we act the part society wants us to. By doing that, however, I feel that we loose a part of ourselves, and gain instead a fake persona that we kid ourselves into believing is what we really are. I deplore this kind of behaviour, although realize that I am guilty of it many times. I hate myself for it, I hate society for making me feel that I need to do it. By conforming, I loose what makes me me.

It's said that 99% of what the average teenager says is bullshit, and I think this quote reflects that.

I truely believe that the quote is meaningfull. Your reputation is what people persive you to be. With reputation, people may expect something else of you. Self character shows a persons real thoughts and actions. Most people go by reputation to know who to hang out with, but what they should be really looking for is a good person. Reputation is all talk, character is everything. Thats why I believe someones character is more important than their reputation.

Wehn i read this it made me smile just because i agree with it 100%. to me this quote means that character is what makes you, you. just because someone says your a bitch or a slut doesnt mean you are so who gives a fuck, they them think what they want. i think its funny because i have herd my mom and many others say you dont want a bad reputation but who really cares? like thoes people know the real me you know? a good personality and charater makes you you and thats awesome. what im trying to say is dont give two shit about what people think of you because in the end none of your highschool years will really matter . :)

Wooden's quote brings to mind a one that I am very familiar with, written by Abraham Lincoln himself:

"Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."

Create a focal point based on who you are, not who you seem to be; create a life dependent on what you perceive, not how others perceive you, in that you should not regard what another thinks of you. A reputation is merely a shadow. You see, a shadow distorts depending on the surface that it is on, the height of the person, and the environment around you. A reputation distorts based on the people that perceive it, the ego of the person, and the attitudes around you. Why should you base a thing off of what someone else thinks but yourself? Believe in you, not the things people think about you.

i think that this quote is telling you to not care about what others think of you as much and care more about what you think of you. you shouldnt live your life just so that you can have a good reputation. sometimes in order to have a good reputation you have to do things that have bad character like drugs and etc. you should always live your life the way that you want to even if other people dont find it "cool". the only reason you should have for doing something is that it makes you happy. its possible to have the best reputation in the world but have the worse character. on the otherhand it is also possible to have the exact opposite. while most people would problaly try to make the first one happen i would rather make the second one.
