I enjoyed meeting you all this morning and am looking forward to a great semester of learning from and with each other.
Today, I would like you to think about the following quote and give your response in at least 7 sentences. Truly what does this quote mean to you and how does it apply to your life.

Clark's quote really hit me when I first read it; it's a similar quote that my grandpa said to me before he passed away. What I believe the quote means is sort of what I base my life off of. I think that it means that life is ever changing, always moving and going and circulating like the blood which flows through our veins. It is the learning and growing from those experiences and encounters which life offers you that is entirely our prerogative. We can choose to advance ourselves through the changes of life and experiences of life, or we can choose to not.
The quote reminds me of another, more familiar saying; "If life throws you a lemon, make lemonade." (Joan Collins) Obviously, one can compare the two. If life throws you that metaphorical lemon, and changes, then you have the choice to make the best of that lemon and grow from it, use it to your advantage.

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
I think this quote explains that life chages and some of the time you can't control it. Also you have to deal with changes whether you like it or not. When it says "Growth is optional" I believe it says that the way you grow or the way that you choose to be yourself is all how you want to be. You control your own actions. Those actions that you choose must be chosen wisley because you only get one chance. This quote affects all of us because its our life and we control it.

I believe the quote is saying that your life is always changeing. During the changes you have to make the choice to grow up or be left behind. But well you are making these choises you must be careful because you could fall on the wrong path.To me this qoute really made me open up my eyes and realize that the choises we make right now will effect the rest of our lives. We can take are advatages we are givin now and use them in our benefit. So what do we do? Do we take what we are givin or do we find our own way?

I think that this quote means that as life moves on we have the choice to follow it. we can move with the flow or stick with the past. I personaly think that you should choose wisely, if you stick with the past for too long life might pass you up and you could miss out on some great things. If the past is that important spend a little more time living in it, but remember that life doesnt stop for you. I think that life will always change, and we can learn to flow with it. Yet life is not as long as we wish so "choose wisely".
"Life is change. Growth is optinal. Choose wisely."
I belive that Clark's quote represents the choices we make as an individual. You experience so many life learning lessons throughout your lifetime, and its up to you to make decisions. When she says "Growth is optinal," she leaves the experince up to you. You control your own life and you learn from the things you have overcome. Its truely up to you now. Make decisons you will not regret but indeed learn from. Change will happen and its up to you to know what way to go.

i think that Clark's quote is saying that life is the way you make it. you can take what is given to you and grow from experiences. Or you can do nothing and slack off. you can make the best or worst of life. If you choose to make the worst out of it you wont go anywhere in life. If you do make the right decision you will be successful in life. It reminds me of the story The road not taken by Robert Frost. You can take the road that everyone else takes. But if you want to be different take your own way and make the best out of it.

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
To me, this quote is very meaningful. Personally I believe that every person has the option to choose every single day how they want to live and what they want to do with there lives. Change is like the quote says "optional" and I have come to learn that growing is a personal choice. To grow and become wise as a person one must not only want to become a better person, but also have the persistance to work on it every single day. Life is constintly changing and the direction and path that is choosen is made by being wise enough to know growth is essential.

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
The quote, I believe, states how life is a series of challenges. How you must make certain choices to overcome obstacles. Along with choices comes change, wether internal or external it is still relevant to the point. Changes effect you the rest of your life, as states "Choose wisely". As for growth being optional, it means the choices you make can either help or harm you. It is also somewhat a warning to make choices you can live with. Life is what you make of it. Good or bad, choices affect us all

"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
This quote to me means that as we go on this journey through life, constantly everything around us is changing. Whether it is huge changes in our life that are very easily seen and influenced. Or small changes that occur and are hardly even noticed. But the changes in life are not as important if growth does not come from them. We can make as many changes in our life to better ourselves in most cases. But there must always come a point in your life afterwards in which you grow from it in some way or another. We can choose to make the most out of every decision that is thrown at us, and you either have chosen wisely or you havent, and growth probablly was not made if you havent.
I think the quote "life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisley" means that you can you can choose to grow up and take that responsibly, or you can choose to mess around all your life. No matter what you choose your life is going to change to it. If you choose to grow up and take reponsibly you will probably make it far in life. On the other hand if you choose to be a kid all your life you probably wont make it that far.

When i first read this quote i began thinking about how much this really pretainted to everyday life. For example i have just finished watching a tv show called "From G's to Gents" and it's about gangsters from around the country who are trying to get out of those old ways and really make a change for the better and they have come a long way from hustling out on the streets. But to me this quote is much more than that. To me this quote says that no matter what things will change constantly in your life and it is up to you to adapt to these changes so that you can become sucessful. However, if you dont adapt then you will slowly start to fall behind and thats when disaster will strike. I personaly try live my life as much as i can to philosophys such as these, and at times i will fail but every time i do i come back and try twice as hard and so far that has worked out for me. Growth and change is something that we will have to deal with everday and it is up to us to respond and adapt because otherwise we will fall to natural selection
This is cody D and this is my response to this quote.
This quote to me means bassicaly you can live your life and learn but you have to choose if you go anywere with it. This would most apply in my life with school. I have learned alot but now im given the choice to actualy go off what iv learned. Also with personal things i need to remember what people have showed me in life so that i will be able to prosper in life. This quote actual sounds to me like a teacher talking to a student about life and it very motivating for me. It actually shows me a new way of looking at life Beacause iv always looked at things like school like things i just had to gey by to move on but i also need to take what iv learned and aply it to more and work off it. This is a quote that can be applyed to everyday life with the things i take in day to day.
I think that this quote means that life changes a lot. Dealing with the changes and growing from your mistakes is optional. It is telling you to be wise.

Dick:
I think the quote means life is a cycle of constant change where nothing stays that same. You can choose to grow or just sit back and watch. But sitting back won't let you expierence any of the change that may help you in life. The quote is basically telling you that you may not want things to change but they need to in order to grow. Life is all about change for the better and the worse. Joan Collins is just telling you to look at the big picture and make a good decision. Sitting back will get you just that, back behind everyone else.
"Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely."
This quote is also similar to one I know in Hungarian, 'Élet van egy útan sok menstruáció , választ utad gondok,' or 'Life is a road with many turns, pick your path with care.' I think that this quote means that life is inherently change. Life is full of experiences that we need to learn from, or not That choice, whether we learn from our experiences or not is an important one and we need to make the best of it in our judgement.
Its significance can truly be seen in everyday life. The best example i can think of is whether or not to stay in school. Does one get an education to make a better person of themselves, or does one make oneself a better person without school? Decisions like that, away from the mundane, 'vanilla or chocolate ice-cream?' one can reall see what the quote means.
To me a quote is a very meaningfull statement. A quote could be "lifes greatest joys come in small packages". Some quotes have different meanings, some quotes stand a point, other quotes are just there to be said. Quotes sometimes deal with peoples experences in life. Quotes are statements about everyday life. A quote tells you information. Another quote that means alot is "Even though life may suck we only go through these times to make us stronger".
Scott Roteman
I think the first part "life is change" is trying to say that life changes no mater what and we make the changes eather good or bad. "Growth is optional" is refering to us growing in a positive way or a negitive way it all depends on how we take change. "choose wisely" make the choices in life that are going to help us and are future.

To me this quote made me think about how i was last year as an 11th grader, i choose not to do much in school and not really care about much that was goin in the world around me that i had to do as a young adult to be succecfull. as a senior now i only have one senior class and i will be short credits to graduate because i didnt make the right decitions most of my life. i wanted to be treated as a young adult but didnt act like one one bit. i know none of this seems like it relates to the quote above but it does in the fact that even though i didnt choose to grow, life still goes on and sure you can catch back up but it dosent stop for your mistakes. life will never just be exactly what you want it to be for the most part so as the world changes and life becomes more difficult you just learn to GROW with it or in my case you will be left behind and will miss out on many good things to come.
-Mr.Kay no offince but last year the journals were basically the only thing i really enjoyed in your class :)
thanks for the great quotes my dear

To me this quote means even though people change they might not change in a good way. Sometimes when people change it doesnt mean that they change in a good way. Growth is optionional meaning that we all grow either in a good or bad way. You can try hard in life and grow or you can just let life pass you by and not grow in a good way at all. Sometimes you have to deal with changes. Sometimes it will be a good change or it will be a bad change. It doesnt matter if it is a good or bad change but you have to know how to deal with change. This is what I think the quote is trying to say.
