Day 7

Today we discussed the country of Greece. Again, it seems as if we know very little about this country. Isn't it interesting that a country that had been around since early times and has influenced many of our ways of thinking we know little about. I wonder if people in other places think they know about America but really know very little as well.

With that said, please reflect on the following quote:

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Abraham Lincoln

When you die, it's the life in your years that count. That means that the more experiences that you have had (good or bad,) the more years that count.

I think this is simply saying don't worry about how long you lived, worry about what you got acomplished. Thats the way i like to look at life. You need to worrk about what your doing in life not about how long you will be around.

Ah, a fine quote by the honest man. It took me a while to decipher what exactly Abe meant, or rather how I am interpreting it, but it seems clear now after a bit of thinking.

When you pass on from this life (and into the next if such be your thinking; mine is not as so), it matters not how many years you have attained, but how many experiences you have had within those years. For example, an eighty year old man may pass away with little done during his time. He may have viewed his entire world through a television set; this obviously means that he has not fulfilled any dutiful, or responsible, purpose. On the other hand, a twenty-four year old woman dies who had done much with her life. She was the head of a mega-corporation (and she received that title not by inheritance, but by effort) and as such made a very fine living, and also she took great care of her parents, refusing to put them in a nursing home. She also took care of her little brother, who is nine, because her parents were unable to. She enjoyed her life, and lived it as joyously as she could. She has had much life in her years, whereas the old man had many years to his life.

I believe that this quote gives us the ideal scenario on how we should view life and how we should live our life. It says that we should be well-rounded, cultured and simply wise people no matter how long we live for. It's something that I believe humanity should aspire to. We should all try to live life not to see how long we will live, but to see how well we will live it. Imagine what that would be like. Humanity would be a bunch of wise-asses and not a bunch of squabbling, bible-beating wanna-be politicians who kill each other simply because you like 'x' instead of 'y'. Makes you wonder if portray 'backwater' countries or religions that preach pacifism instead of purification are as bad as the propaganda fed to us by the media.

This quote reflects that you should make the most of your life. Don't think about how many years have past, keep going forward. Dwelling on what as already happened is useless. Live everyday with excitement and joy. Years will pass by but it is the way you spend them that counts. Are you out there accomplishing goals or are you just sitting around. Make something out of your life to be remembered.

I think this quote is saying that how many days you live is not whats important in life. What is important is what you do and how you make the best of it. LIfe is a very valuable thing and many people take advantage of it. You should make every second of your life count. Dont dwell on how long you hope to live because you life can be taken at any second. You should live your life to the best of it. Always do what you want while you can.

I can relate this quote to my life a lot. I try not to worry to much about time. I try to focus more on the experiences i have in my life. I live my life for the moment. By doing this, I don't have a whole lot of stress on my life, and I'm a pretty happy person. I don't think it matters how long you live in life. It matters how you chose to live, and be satisfied.

a very nice quote, it says that if you live to be 100, but dont have any memerable achievments, then it was wasted. You should find a purpose in life. you should find somthing you enjoy. life is ment to be remembered so do somthing you will remember yourself for. live life to its fullest, and enjoy it. make sure your life is what you want it to be.

I think this quote means that it doesn't matter how long you live as long as your happy. In the end it doesn't even matter how long you live by the way you spent it. Would you rather live 75 years miserably or 50 years living every day to the fullest. Id take the 50 years. Although I do want to live longer than 50. Life is a precious. You need to cherish it.
I'm not a philosopher, but thats what I think.

the way you live your life is entirely up to you. you can either decide to be passive and let life pass you by. or you can take life, and mold it how you want it. if you make your life what you want it, you wil have life expirences tha are worthwhile. if you are passive, life is almost not wrth living. going through the motions is merely existing, and not living. i believe his is what abe meant when he stated this.

It means it is how you live your life. Some people do nothing with their lif. Other people have acomplished all of their carrer goals and dreams in their life time. So people should not just do nothing with their life they need to get out and make an impact in their lifetime or atleast do something with their life. If people do nothing with their life they usually die a feeling sad because they acomplished nothing in their life time.

I think the quote means that when you die it's not how long you life that counts. It's what you do with your life that counts. like you could be a hundered years old and not be happy because you didnt do what you want in you life. In another hand you could die at the age fourty and be the happiest person ever because you did what you wanted in your life. People shouldn't waste there time trying to make thereself look younger or never getting out and having fun. I think people shouldn't worry so much in life just take it as it comes. That is the way i look at life

The quote says that you need to focus on the way you lived not how long you lived. It says that you should reflect on how much fun and excitement you had. Rather than looking at quantity, you should look at quality of the years. That means that rather than trying to live an extremely long life, you should try and live and extremely good life. You should make your years last forever and not base yor life on your age. It should be full of life and every year should be cherished. You need to make every day count because you never know when it's going to end.

Death is an inevitable part of life. Everyone is going to eventually be "physically" dead or whatever one may believe in. To me, this quote is saying that it is not the age at which you die that counts for. It is about the way you live your life and how much effort you put in to making your life,well... lively. It's about the experiences you decide to encounter. Life is much more greater lived with fullfilling experinces in which making life worth being alive for. Instead of just living life with no love, joy,or fun to make it to an older age. Wisdom comes within age, yes. On the other hand "you can't be old and wise, if your never young and stupid."

I think this quote is saying don't count the days you live. Just make sure you live them well. I think its also saying no matter what age you are do what you think is best. Don't always play it by the rules make sure you put some time aside for yourself. You shouldn't worry about how long you will be alive worry about the time now. If you waste the time now you wont have the chance to make it up later. In my opinion you learn for the bad and succeed from the good.

This quote has a lot of meaning to me, because it is definitely I try and think about as I go about things in life. That once it comes time for you to die, it really doesn't matter how many years you lived, or who lived the longest. It is simply just thie things you accomplished within those years that really matter. If you accomplish everything in life that you had your mind set on, but died much earlier, then in my eyes, your life would have been as complete as it was going to get. And it was obviously you time to go because you had achieved and persued everything that you had dreamed to do.

I think the quotes reflects aery true statement about life. When you do die the life you had is what matters not how many years you lived. You can make your life awesome and you can also make it a living hell it is your choice how you want to live it. To me you have one shot at life so make it the best you can and live it to its fullest. Some people live and try to always worry about things those are the kind of people that i think dont really get anywhere or those people that think there life is a living hell.

To me this quote means to live your life and try to accompish as mich as you can. the difference between have years in your life and life is your years is this. a person with years in their life is someone that alothough they may have done a few things here and there in there life they never did much to bring them joy and sasisfaction. instead they were just content with what was thrown at them and never strived for anything more. the latter on the otherhand is a person who is always trying to live life to the fullest and have as many joyfull exprience and accomplish as much as possible. also they are never content with what gets thrown there way. instead they want to do whatever they can to be able to make all the hard work they strived for be worth it in the end and be able to pass something from their life on to the next generation.

I think this quote means no matter how many days you lived u lived your life to the fullest. You don't have to worry how long you will live. What really matters to me is what you have done with your life. Like going some where or doing what you really want to do. You just have to live everyday to the fullest so u can have a good life. And if you are doing something that u really love it shouldn't matter how long you live. That is what I think the quote means to me.

This makes me smile just because the fact that its true in my eyes. what i think Ab is saying is you can live for 55,78,100 years and still not live a full happy life. Just because you are living doesnt mean you are really LIVING. How you live your life is up to you weather you want to spend it travleing or sitting around the house all day. A good life i what means the most to me right now, i guess just because you never really know when it will end and thats what scares thr shit out of me.

I think this quote means to try to accomplish what you are capable of accomplishing and not letting the years pass you by. You have to make the most of your life. Don't sit through life looking at the clock on the wall. Before you know it your going to be out of time, and you are going to wish you had done more with your life. Live everyday like you are going to make a difference in yours or someone elses life. Years will pass by but you will have no regrets. This is what I think of that quote.
