I think popularity is something that is common within many people and is something that the majority of people like or do. This effects our life very much. People usually do or like things that the majority of the people like because we are influenced my it. popularity plays a big part in our life and many times determines how we live our life. It influences how we dress, what we do, who we talk to and who we are. Its a big part of life.

Popularity is nothing more than a made up word. It doesn't exist or effect anything. I see it at something used to hide real what people truly are. People who are smart are seen as "popular" but i see them as back stabbers that will use what they have to manipulate the crowd. I think people should stop following the the Popular person and try and be who they are and follow themselves and be who they want to be rather them following somebody else.
i think popularity is a word that has a meaning to everyone in a different way. every group of people has the poplars and the not so popular. i think that popularity is just in your head. know one is better than anyone in reality. all groups are different that's why every one has different view on popularity. people shouldn't follow popularity they should do what they know is right. they should just be themselves.
Popularity: [pop-ulair-itee] 1. n. The idea of being well-liked for trivial reasons. 2. The act of conforming oneself to ideas that are seen as socially acceptable in order to "fit-in" and gain more "friends".
The idea of popularity has never really affected my life. I've never been 'popular' and I abhor the idea of ever becoming 'popular'. All the people that I know to be popular, are only popular because: (a) they give out money to everyone, [literally buy people to say they're 'friends'] or, (b) they have something that people want to take advantage of.
I'm not popular and people still constantly try to take advantage of me. I don't know where I got this reputation of being 'smart'. I'm not. I'm a smart-ass, yeah, but smart? No, I'm the stupidest person I know. Yet, people still constantly haggle me thinking I know the answers to everything.
Then, there are the popular kids. They're always the ones who voted for Homecoming Court (whoop-dee-do,), always the ones who are nominated for that silly B.O.E. award, always get their face everywhere around the school, and yet, are never happy. All the popular people I know are never happy. I think it's because they realize that barely anyone that they think are friends with them, are actually true friends. I pity them for that, I really do. I'm also admittedly jealous of some aspects. I've never gotten that B.O.E. award simply because I'm not popular enough, I'll never be voted onto anything in school because I'm not popular enough, that does make me slightly jealous, and angry a little bit too. But, when I think about it, I'd rather not get that silly award than be surrounded by people who use me.
I feel that I don't need to be popular to get anywhere in life anyways. Yeah, sometimes people need to suck-up to get things done, but that's different. I'd rather get through everything by my own merits than glide by carried on the backs of those who worship the ground I walk on. It makes me a better person, I feel. Besides, transcendentalism is always a good thing when it comes to conforming to society, that's the way to get noticed, be different.
I define popularity as being accepted by others. I don't think this affects my life very much. I try not to worry about my "status" at school. I do think it's a little sad how people aren't always accepted unless they're popular. I believe having a wide variety of friends is the best way to get through school. I also think it's pathetic that you have to be attractive to be "popular." I think high school kids should judge people on the content of their character, more than their social status.
Popularity can mean many things. I think popularity is someone known to many people. It’s when you go somewhere and a lot of people know you. It can also be that you are well known in your group of friends. It can be that you did something really good and everybody knows you for it. There are the popular kids in school. Where everyone knows that person and wants to be friends with them.

i think that everyone deals with popularity in their own way. some people see it as if your popular everyone wants to be with your friend and your the big shot in the school. others just see it as haveing friends and being recognized. i personally dont worry about how popular i am. i mean if i am then great and if im not then thats great to. to me popularity is more of a state of mind than anything else. so if you think you are popular or you want to be then you can be.
i think popularity is all relative. it really depends on how you would see yourself and the people that you make friends. i also kind of think that popularity is an out of date term. i really ont think popularity has any effect on people. i mean yeah, some people have more friends than others, but that is based on how friendly you are to others. not popularity.
Popularity could be many things one is a person who is cool. Another is an object that is cool. This affects peoples lives by they are always trying to be popular by doing something cool. Also it is influenced by other people so others will follow. Popularity is almost everones goal in life to be the person everyone likes. Popularity is a powerful thing in the world today.

Popularity... Ha thats funny considering i have NO idea what this words mean because i have never experienced this in my life. it kills me to see people at school with all their friends and me walking alone... it pisses me off because i would love to be popular and feel that but, i never have and im sure never will. popularity isent really something thats AMAZING to me but it does mean a lot. i wish i could have felt what that feels like to be popular in high school but i dident and thats ok because i have people that love me and care about me and im ok with just a few people in my life.
we you popular??
hope you had a good weekend Kay

i belive that popularity effects my life by other people thinkging they are better than me and other people. the populare kids dres withe the right cloths. thinking that they are cooler than the kids that dont or cant, and by having more friends they are better. they also in somes make fun of other kids because they have more friends and dres the right way. that is how popularity effects my life.
Marc, I really had no time to complete this journal over the weekend; on Friday I had to zoom straight from school to my girlfriend's for her dinner/Homecoming, and then Saturday was our Homecoming. On Sunday, I had a shitload of chores to do, and my parents wouldn't allow me to go on the computer. Please accept this late.
Popularity is a glorified social idea, and nothing more. Jocks and preps are popular, and why? Because they're a great football player, or because they dress a certain way? I'm a great boxer, and I dress the way I want to, but that makes me unpopular. Sure, most people know me, many people talk to me on a regular basis, but that's just because I'm a friendly guy, and I'm myself; everyone else is taken. I like who I am, what I stand for, how I look, what I dress like, and what I do, and that is the key to being happy: being yourself. Being popular has nothing to do with it.

sooo I wasen't really sure if I am still allowed to do this since it was due three days ago, but I did not have access until today to do it....anyways I enjoy typing these because I think it personally helps me as a writer....

Popularity is the acceptance as a whole from people. I think that the term "popular" in High School is over used and mis used. Just because one may be popular, does not mean they are any better, greater, stronger,or wiser then anyone else. It simply means that they have something other people admire and accept about them. I believe that all individuals are created equal and no person by any means are any better then anyone else. Equality is something I am always looking for and trying to bring personally to our school here, at Lakeland. Not only does it affect my life, it affects everyone else's around me. I find people being so consumed with being "cool" they get lost in trying to find who they really are they conform to the norm. I find it much more appealing to be uniquely you. I also think that people are often falsey labled with the perceptions of what all "popular people" are susposed to be. For example wealthy, rude, and concieded. Who is someone to judge and label anyone like that for that matter. I just think it's important for everyone to remeber that like what bob marley said "before you go pointing your fingers make sure yours are clean."

Popularity is how other people define your social status kind of. This can affect your life majorly. Most people want to be popular so they will change their personality around different people. The popular kids usually think that they are better than every body else and are very cocky. Popularity should not have a huge effect on people but it does because they care about to much what other people think. It's smart not to follow popularity. Just be yourself.
