Day 17

Today I would like you to discuss movies. What types of movies do you like? What draws you to a certain movie? Actors, directors, music? Do you think that movies play a role in American society besides just being entertainment? Why or why not?

We shall current event today. Remember that you must summarize your current event and then connect it to you, the world or the community and the effect that it has on it. NO CITE, NO POINTS!

Day 15

I hope you enjoyed Chalkboard football and the Veterans Ceremony. I have enjoyed sitting in the library all day and grading papers. You will get back the LOTF test and your character project tomorrow. We will be quickly doing vocab and grammar and hopefully completing more of the god-a-thon. Alot to accomplish in a day. Don't forget to study for your World history test.

For this evening talk about the idea of gods vs. God. Why do you think that during the early history of man it was important to have so many different gods and then that switched to most religions and peoples having one God? Which system do you think works the best? Would you want to live in a world that relied on so many different gods? Why or why not? Benefits or defecits to living this way in the 21st
century?

Day 14

Tomorrow will be 2nd hour Social Studies- Chalkboard Football. 3rd hour you will be going to the Veterans Ceremony. Wednesday we will complete our god-a-thon. Also, do not forget that your essay/letter is due on Wednesday.

For this evening, think about the ideal of pride. We saw this a lot in The Iliad in regards to both Achilles and Hector. We will continue to see this when we read Oedipus. Read the following quote and then comment on what it means to you and how pride is or is not important to who you are as a person:

"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."

Day 12

Today you will need to do a current event. Cite your source or no points and no sports or entertainment without it relating to something very current in our society.

Day 11

Do you think Achilles has bound peace in his victory? Do you think that his revenge has gone too far? Explain your answer with at least one reference to the story. Why do you think Achille's anger is so intense, even with his vengeance complete? Lastly, have you ever experienced a need for vengeance that over run your rational thought? Explain.
