In his mind, Achilles may have found peace in his victory, maybe he feels better now that he has avanged his freind. I think he might have whent a little to far though. dragging hecktors body and having his men stab it was crossing the line. Even whith his vengance complete Achilles still has an intence anger i think this is just because he has spent almost all of his life fighting and he just stays mad at the enemy.
I think that Achilles may think he found peace in his victory, but I don't think he did. I think that him having not let Hector rest in peace was him taking it to far. I think that Achille's strives on murder and that he was a born killer. I think that he had definately let his urge for vengence take over his mind. I think he sort of obsessed over murder and violence because he couldnt stop with Hector until he was in pieces. I personally have not let anger and need for revenge take over my rational thought, However: I can see how it would happen in certain situations.
No, I don't think that Achilles has bound peace. If he did, he would have just killed Hector and been done. Instead, Achilles had to humilate Hector. Yes, I think that Achilles' revenge has gone too far. I beleive this for a number of reasons. One is because Achilles didn't have to keep stabbing Hector repeatedly. Also, Achilles dragged Hector behind a chariot after he was killed. I don't think it was neccesary for Achilles to humiliate Hector. I think Achilles' anger is so intense even with his vengeance complete because he is a born fighter. He is use to killing because he is the best fighter. Also, his friend probably meant a lot to him, so he might still be upset that his friend was killed. I have never experienced a need for vengeance to the point where vengeance ran my rational thought. One time someone was picking on my sister. I wanted to get revenge, but not to the point of anything serious. I personally didn't want to get too involved, I just wanted to make sure that the person who was picking on my sister got in trouble.

In his victory, I do not think that Achilles created peace. Achilles revenge definitely went too far. I think that it was noble of him to fight for his friend's life, but he took it beyond revenge. When he did not respect Hector's wish to be taken back to his family, he did not respect Hector as a person at all. He mutilated his body, which was just disrespectful. Achilles wanted to prove that he gives no mercy. No one tells him what to do, and he does what he wants to do. His immortality makes Achilles ignorant to other people. Achilles never worries about what he does, because he is immortal. I think that Achilles anger is so intense because no matter what he does, it will not bring his friend back to life. In a way, it was Achilles' fault was that his friend died, because Achilles refused to fight with him. I think that Achilles wants to do the most he can to avenge Hector to make what he did to his friend right. Vengeance has never ran over my rational thought, but I have tried to get revenge. A lot of times it happens when someone hurts me, I want to do the same to them. Usually I don't follow up on it, but when I do, revenge never ends up well, and I usually have regrets about it.
Achilles was a very misunderstandable person who showed a sense of not ever having enough or reaching a pointed of personal satisfaction. Achilles showed no peace after the fight and his victory. This was shown when he refused to respect Hector's body after he killed him. Hector believed in a respectful and sporsman like manor after the battle yet Achilles felt that was all horse shit. Even after the defeat in Hector, Achilles still showed anger along with no satisfaction even after his victory. Lastly, i personally have had tomes were i felt the need for revenge but happen to over do what is acctually neccesary. Things such as me and my brother in a fight, he might say something that really ticks me, and i tend to over do it and reply by saying or soing something stupid.

No, i do not think Achilles bound for peace in his victory. I think that Achilles revenge went too far, and he was just being a jerk. He got so caught up in revenge that he didnt let Hector rest in peace, and dragged his dead body by a rope. Achilles anger is so intense because his friend was killed, which led him to seek revenge against Hector. Achilles let his anger take over, and couldnt stop with Hector until he was dead and to pieces. I personally have not experienced this to the extreme like Achilles did. But a couple of times i would get so angry at my sister or my parents that i would stay stuff that i didnt mean, but would regret it afterwards.
I think Achilles feels good avenging his friend, but doesn't feel victorious. Before fighting Hector Achilles had no vengeance in killing Hector. Achilles feelings toward killing Hector was more towards vengeance then being victorious. I think that Achilles revenge was wrong, it showed no respect. His anger got in the way of his real self, and that resulted in the way Achilles dragged Hectors body around the gates. Also the way Achilles told Hector that there is no pacts between loins and men and if he wins he will feed your body to the dogs. I have experienced vengeance in many ways. Vengeance can take over your rational thought and make you someone you don't want to be. It changes the way you think about something or someone. It can also cause you to do very wrong things that you won't realize till you've done it.
I think Achilles has found peace in his victory. he wanted revenge against Hector for killing his friend. He wanted Hector to be dead, just like his friend, and that's what he got. However, i do think revenge has gone too far. I think it was reasonable for Hector to ask that whoever died their body was treated with respect. For Achilles to deny him of this was unreasonable. They did nothing to the body of the man Achilles was avenging other than steal his armor. It wasnt to much to ask that he be taken back to his family. When Achilles tied Hector to the back of his chariot and dragged him away it was disrespectful and unnecessary. I think his anger was so intense because the two nations were already at war and once Hector killed his friend it made his rage even more intense. In my own personal experience i dont think ive ever experienced vengeance that has over run my rational thought.
I think Achilles did not find peace in his victory. In my opinion he got just what he wanted but he wanted more than revenge. However, I think he went to far when he sent a message to Troy by dragging Hector's body through the desert. I think his anger is so intense because his best friend Patroclus died. Patroclus was like a brother to Achilles. Achilles believed that Hector's death wasn't at all as bad as Patroclus' death. I get angry when I play Soccer. When someone does something to another team mate of mine, I get angry and I will exact my revenge at some point during the game.
Yes, I do think that Achilles had found peace in his victory. He wanted revenge against Hector for killing his friend. I do think that his revenge has gone too far. He could of been a better sport about the killing. He didn't have to drag his body, I think that just showed bad sport about the whole thing. I think that his anger is so intense because hes so into fighting people, and hes just grew to like it more when people get hurt. Or maybe he just doesn't know what else to do, so he hurts people. I have never experienced a need for vengeance to the point were it over ran my rational thought. I have had many times where I wanted to get revenge but didn't do anything. Because I knew that if I did it would just make things worse for me.

I believe that, in his mind, Achilles has found peace. From my point of view, he has taken his revenge too far. Having his comrades stab Hector's body and dragging it around behind Achilles' chariot is a little much. He should've been more honorable and given Hector a proper funeral like he asked. At least then he would'nt look like a complete ass. I think Achilles' anger is so intense because after he let some of it out by killing Hector, he still wanted more because Hector's death didn't satisfy his anger. This happens in quite a few movies that i've seen.
I, personally, have experienced a need for vengeance that over ran my rational thought. This happened when I was little (not sure what age). My mom would take me over to our neighbor's house because she was friends with the lady that lived there. Her son was an ass and always picked on me. One day he went too far and I lost control of all rational thought and beat the crap out of him. My awesome mom was happy I finally got him back for all the things he'd done to me. So, essentially, I didn't get in trouble. :)

After his victory Achillies had no peace in his victory because after he killed Hector he humiliated Hectors' dead body. What i mean by that is after Hector dies Achillies drags him back to his city-state and lets everyone mock his dead body by stabbing at it. WIth his vengence complete i think that his anger is still there because of the adrenaline of killing a man. Lately i have not thought of getting vengance for anything because i have been content with everything going on around me. Although when i think about it a couple of years ago my friend stole my animal crackers and to be honest i want to stab him in the juggular for taking them.

No i do not think that Achilles bound peace in his victory. Not only did he kill Hector, but he humiliaed him too. I think that his revenge did go to far. I hink this because he didnt have to put wire through his feet and drag him from his charriot he should of done the honerable thing and given him to his family for a proper barial.I think that Achilles anger is so intense because Hector killed his bestfriend and stole Achilles armor too. He doesnt like that he did that verry much. I have experienced a need for revenge in my life before. When my brother get really anoying i do or say things that i dont mean and i regret it in the end. The rational thinking i should do is just ignore it.

I think that Achilles didn't find peace in his victory of killing Hector. I believe that his revenge had gone too far. Since Hector had killed his cousin, that anger triggered a nerve that set off an violent strike in him. All he could think about was how evil Hector was, yet Achilles killed Hector as revenge. This doesn't make Achilles a better person, it makes him the same as Hector. Achilles anger is so intense, even after revenge, he still feels it. He thought that killing Hector would make things better, but his cousin is still dead, even after taking the mans life away who killed him. I think everyone at some point in their life has experienced a need for vengeance that over runs your rational thought, as well as myslef.
No, I do not believe Achilles has found peace in his victory. This is because you can never find peace unless you truly forgive someone. Yes, the revenge went way to far. There is no reason to murder someone unless it's through self-defense. In the book, they stabbed Hector repeatedly when he was dead. This clearly shows that killing Hector did not take the anger away from them. In fact, I think the anger got more intense. I think Achille's anger is so intense because killing Hector did not change the fact that his friend was still dead. Nothing could bring Achille's friend back, not even killing the one responsible. Yes I have, when a friend betrayed me. I was so angry that I wanted to go "verbally abuse them" (Jamie's expression). However, after I cooled down I became rational again.

I don't think Achilles has found peace in his victory. i think if he truly did, he could have left the body behind, not drag it away from his family, i also think that Achilles is just an unhappy asshole. i also think that Achilles is angered because he has lost his friend, it doesn't matter if the vengeance is fulfilled Achilles will still be unhappy and still without his friend. I'd like to say his vengeance was taking to far, but if someone close to me was murdered i don't think that would be the case. Achilles anger is so intense simply because his friend was murdered. Achilles may had even been feeling guilty about not being their for his friend. I've definitely had the thought of vengeance overrun rational thought. the most recent was actually this year with a previous teacher i had. she treated me unfairly which made me want to treat her unfairly. not anything violent or anything but just being rude to her, or saying things that i knew would bother her. I'm not a mean person, i actually believe I'm a pretty nice person, i just felt so angry about the situation and ended up switching out of her class.
I think that Achilles has found peace because he avenged Patrklus's death by killing Hector and mutilating his body infront of the Trojan people. Yes Achilles did take his revenge to fat because when he dishonored Hector by dragging his body along the ground, he lost sight of honor and dignity nad became a ruthless killer. I think that Achilles's anger is so intense is because Patrklus was a young man who was not ready to die, and that Hector killed him think that he killed Achilles. A personal experience of losing rational thought because of vengence was when my brother was messing around while we were sledding and he jumped on my head, so did his friend Travis; so my face was getting scraped across the ice while moving down hill and this made me really mad because there was a huge scab on my face and there was a blood trail on the sledding hill, so i got up and punched my brother in the face and gave him a black eye.
No, I don't believe Achilles found peace in his victory. Even though he avenged his friends death, he was still very angry. Yes, Achilles revenge has gone too far. When Achilles dragged Hector's dead body around after he killed him and the the brutality of Hector being stabbed after he was already dead showed how intense Achilles anger was. At first Achilles refused to return Hector's body to his family, showing that just the victory was not enough for him. I believe Achilles anger is so intense because he is mad at himself for not fighting in the first place and his friend getting killed wearing his armour. The guilt of him not standing by his friend in battle made him angry at himself and even the killing of Hector could not make him feel better. Yes, I have experienced a need for vengeance. My cousin and I have kind of a turbulent relationship. He likes to get things started with me and starts fights between us; he lies to my Aunt and that makes me so angry that I want to hurt him. I'm not a violent person and I do not resort to getting revenge, but in that moment of anger I want to beat the crap out of my cousin even though it won't solve the situation.
I don’t think that Achilles has found peace. In no way to he achieves peace in killing someone. The only thing he has achieved is vengeance. He got revenge against hector for killing his friend. He may feel like a hero but killing someone is in no way achieving peace. When Achilles killed hector he was very inhumane, he killed him right in front of all his loved ones, not respecting him. Then once he is dead he ties him by his tendon which is very disrespectful and cruel. All I think of Achilles is a true asshole. I experienced I need for vengeance, when a girl in my friends neighborhood messed with my friends house, we found the nee to get her twice as bad back, we lost our rational thought and destructed property, and got in trouble. After everything that happened we felt nothing good only regret.
The book the Iliad was a pretty good description of a battle between two people, in my opinion. You’ve got one person who is the fair fighter and the other, a complete cocky person who really doesn’t care besides winning. In this story, Achilles ruined the peace when he decided to drag hectors body. His revenge did go to far, as I said, when he dragged Hector back to the ship. It wasn’t too hard to give his body back to Hectors parents. I think Achilles just needed to get over himself. I think that his anger is so large because of the fact that he is always killing people, which I think would bitter a person up. I really have never gotten so mad that I ran over my rational thought. I think the only time I would ever do that is if I got really mad I would do that scream thing every girl does, which I hate doing, so I guess that is running over my rational thought.

I do not believe that Achilles found peace with his victory. It just didn't seem like he was satisfied even after Hector was dead. I do in fact think that his revenge went too far. Achilles felt guilty and he took it all out on Hector. I think he took it too far when he had all of his men stab Hector's dead corpse and then tie it to the end of his chariot. I just feel it was extremly uncalled for. You can tell that he wasn't content with what happened. Achilles still felt guilty about his friend dying. I can honestly say that I have never had vengence on someone before. At least not anything really serious. The only times I can think of where anger ran over rational thought was when I told my sister I hated her. I felt really bad afterward but I just wasn't thinking things clearly and anger just brought it out of me.

I think Achilles has found peace in his victory, but he has become so warrior like that he doesnt feel the victory in a won battle anymore. An example from the story is when he wont allow Hector to make a pact, so he could die with honor. Hector was doing everything he could to try to get Achilles to allow him to return his body, when he died, back to his people, so they could give him an honorable burial. Another example is how he has this idea that he is immortal, and that the gods have blessed him. i do think he has taken his revenge to far. I have experienced a need for vengance that over ran my rational thought before, it was when i was playing football. When i play football, the need to win every battle i have out on the field is so over comming that its almost to hard to control the need to go out and really hurt someone. One of my many experiences of the need for vengance is last year when the jv team played Canton. I was playing left tackle on offense and right as the ball was snapped, the deffensive lineman his my face mask and thats illegal and the reff didnt call it. That got my adrenaline pumping and made me want to just walk up to him and start a fight. It made me so mad that the next time i went up to the line, i didnt even focus on my job of the play, i just tried to throw that lineman on the ground. But because i wasnt focused, i was thinking on my form and where to keep my weight, and where to push with my legs, so i didnt achieve what i was lusting for. Because of that, i realized that its imperative that i keep my concentration when i am about to be over come with the feeling of vengence.
If I was achilles I wouldnt have found peace with my victory. But from my point of view I think that he has. Achilles takes winning a fight or killing someone a victory. He takes it as a victory because thats what he was raised to do and it was either him or hector to die. For example, Hector asked achilles to give him respect if he were to die and give him a right barial. Instead, Achilles tied dead body up by his feet and dragged him away from his home. I dont think Achilles has intense anger in that way. He was brought up to do what he did. Hector was no one really special so it didnt seem out of the ordinary to kill him. It was just like another fight his leaders commanded him to do. I honestly cant think of a time that I have had vengence over run my rational thought. But I know I have before, everyone has times in their lifes that they do irrational things because they get mad. Its just a part of life.
I do not think Achilles has bound peace in his victory. I say this because he was still mad about his friend being killed. Before Hector even died Achilles had promised him that his body would be mauled by the birds and dogs. Achilles has gone way to far in my book. After Hectors death he had let every man who wanted to get revenge on Hector get it. Hector's body was stabed all over plus he was shown no honor for his couragious death. To top things off Achilles drug Hectors body just to get his hatred out.
In my life I have not experienced such vengance. I have had times were I was over the top but never so over powering that my rational thinking stoped. I can get pissed off at people but never to pissed.
In his thoughts, Achilles might have found peace in his victory, this is very possible. He might feel that he has done a good thing by avenging his friend's death. I think he went way too far though. It's one thing to show your people the body of the person that you fought and beat, but its another to drag his body behind a chariot and let your people stab him. I think that even though Achilles avenged Patroclus's death, he still might feel guilt. If he doesn't that is just because he has grown up around fighting and has no fear. He also is immortal which means he cannot be touched.
Alec Shoems 3rd Hour
Even after Achilles victory, I don't think he found peace. I think his reveneg went way too far. When he killed Hector, he should of just left it at that and let everyone know that he killed him. Instead, he dragged his corpse across town. I also think he crossed the line when he had people stab Hector's corpse repeatedly. He didnt respect Hectors wish to be brought back. I think this shows that Achilles feels he can do whatever he wants because he is immortal. I think Achilles is so intense because he was angry that he killed his friend. He knew that nothing he did would bring him back so its like it didnt matter. I think he felt ashamed of himself for not helping his best friend in battle. Like everyone, I have experienced a need for vengeance. Over the summer Jake through a basketball and it hit the mirror on my jeep and broke it. When this happened I was pissed and really wanted to kick his ass. I knew that if i did this, nothing good would come of it; especially for Jake.

Well if you mean peace then no. I think Achilles will never find peace becuase all he wants to do is kill and become the best at everythin or be looked at as a god. I do think his revenge has gone to far becuase he really didnt need to ake his body. He could have just gave it back to the people of troy and let them give him a proper bareyal. Instead of haveing honor, Achilles has to make his victory even more seen and heard by dragging his body back with him. I think that his anger is so strong after his vengence becuase he still feels that he could have saved his best friend. He fells if he would have just gone and fought his best friend wouldnt be dead. I have never really had a big vengence but ive tryed to get back at people but not as far as killing them and dragging there body back to my friends.
Zack Ruffin
No, I don't think that Achilles has found peace. He didn't just kill Achilles's he killed him in a way with embarrassment. I do think that his revenge has gone to far. When he killed Hector, he didn't even have the descents to give him an honorable burial, like Hector was willing to do for him. Also, after he killed Hector he dragged him across the lands, tired to a chariot, then he let his men stab him one by one, then lend the dogs rend him even move. I feel that Achilles was so angry because, Hector killed his friend, he made everything personal with killing his friend. Also, along with Achilles being strong, powerful, and a pure fighter, Hector really did not stand a chance against Achilles. He killed his friend, so now Hector had to. I have never been the one to say anything when I was anger, although there have been a few occasions when I have. When people say comments and remarks to me, it makes me angry, however, I will not say anything. However, with all of the anger and frustration building up, when someone says something little to me, I'll blow it out of proportion. Later, when analyzing the situation, I feel really guilty and regret saying anything at all, I apologize to the person who said something to me. Now i just decide not to say anything at all.

I do not think that Achilles has peace in his victory even though he would like to believe that he does. He wants to put off the tough guy image but because he mutilated Hector so badly and went about the whole thing so unhonorably, it would be inhumane and wrong for him to have peace about his victory. I think his revenge has definitely gone too far. An example from the story is that Achilles and his men stabbed Hector and dragged him behind the chariot instead of giving him a proper burial by his family and friends. I think his anger is so intense even though his vengeance is complete because Hector killed his best friend and took the armor and it is easy to blame people for things. Achilles is taking revenge on Hector for all of these things. I guess i have experienced some vengeance with my little brother. SOmetimes we just get so mad at each other that we aren't even thinking about what we are doing or saying just as long as it hurts the other person. Which really doesn't make a whole lot of sense and I wouldn't normally do things like that.
No i do not think Achilles has bound peace through his victories. However, with that being said, I do not think his revenge has gone too far. He lost his best friend in battle and feels bad because he could have been ther right next to him fighting and maybe he wouldn't have died. You can't tell me if your best friend died that you wouldn't want to crazy things and you would want to get revenge on the others and not be honorable. For example, when he ties Hector to his chariot he is not honoring his body. I think he has every right to do this because his best friend was killed by Hector. Achilles anger is so intense because his best friend died, but this also makes him such a good warrior. He is able to harness this anger into his fighting and thats why he is so successful. In my life I have never gone to the extent of killing someone for revenge, but I have definately tried to get back at people. I have tried to fight people when my adrenaline has overcome me. I have been out of control, so I can understand Achilles feels.
In the Iliad, Achilles intense anger along with his thirst for vengeance causes him to go too far. Perhaps, inside his head Achilles was able to find peace in his victory. On the outside, however, Achilles revenge went way too far. Not only did he kill Hector, but he refused to make a pact with the poor guy to stay honorable and return Hector's body to his family for proper burial. I think his anger is so intense because he feels guilty for leaving his poor friend to fight alone against Hector. Although he was wearing Achilles armor, Achilles left Pactricalus and he died. Even after he killed Hector, Achilles was still really pissed and I think that he felt his vengeance was not yet complete. The only time I think I have ever experienced a need for vengeance that over ran my rational thought was when my brother took my phone and without me knowing, sent a chain text to as many guys he could find in my phone. The chain text said "Hi this is Emma. I think you are sexy. I love you. I have my whole life. Lets go out!" I found out a few hours later when I got a ton of replies from boys I don't even talk to. I was so pissed I took his phone and did the same thing and I ripped all the poster off his walls in his rooms. It was pretty ridiculous to say the least.
I think Achilles, in his mind found peace in his victory. His revenge went too far when he revenge went to far when he had Hector stabbed repeatadly after he was already dead. I think Achilles was so mad about the death of Patroclus's made Achilles so mad he wanted to kill Hector. Cody said in his blog over the summer I through a basketball and it hit the mirror on his jeep and broke it. When this happened he was pissed and really wanted to kick my ass. He said he knew that if he did this, nothing good would come of it; especially for me. I find it funny that cody thinks he could kick my ass. After reading this it kind of pisses me off, but I know nothing good would come from this.

I don't think that Achilles can find peace in anything., and certainly not in killing Hector. The reality of the situation is, is that Achilles wanted to blame Hector for his friends death. This, however, is not the case. It was Achilles's fault and nothing can change that. So, the only way he can find peace is if he comes to accept the fact that he was not at fault for his friends death. Neither was Hector, even though he was the one that dealt the final blow. Achilles definitely went to far with his revenge. He killed Hector. There was no need to let his men mutilate the body and then drag him behind a chariot back to the beach. It was completely unnecessary. Achilles, knows nothing besides pain and war. Being the warrior he is, he must have lost many friends and comrades in the heat of war. This "revenge" was not just for petrecolus. This revenge was for all those he had lost, and unfortunately, even he cant trick himself into believing that Hectors death made up for it all. I have felt a need for vengeance, but not one that over ran my rational thought. Back in the 6th grade, I broke up a fight between two of my friends. Well, when I pulled one friend off the other he swung his head back and cracked me in the nose. I was Pissed!!!! I wanted to kick his ass. However, I knew that if i started to fight him, one of us would have gotten our ass beat (him) and we never would have been friends again. So, I walked away and let things be. A half hour later, we were jumping on my trampoline, laughing about him almost breaking my nose.
No, I don't think that Achilles has bound peace. If he did, he would have just killed Hector and been done. Achilles definitely took his revenge way too far. I think that it was noble of him to fight for his friend's life. But i think he could have done it a little different. He got so caught up in revenge that he didnt let Hector rest in peace. He tied a rope on to his feet and dragged him away. I think that Achilles anger is so intense because Hector killed one of his good friends and also stole Achilles armor. Yes i have felt the need for revenge. when me and my friends fight i feel like i have to get them back in some way, and i do it.
I believe that Achilles found peace in his victory. He found peace in his victory but I don’t think I did. I think that he took the whole thing way to far. He did not need to do what he did. In the Iliad Achilles took it way to far when he tied Hector to the back of his chariot. Then Achilles was dragging him from his feet while he was dangling from a rope. That was wrong and disrespectful. I believe that Achilles anger is so intense because it’s who he is. He has to have that intense anger and drive to be the best warrior. I have also experienced the need for vengeance at one time or another.
No i do think that Achilles found peace in his victory. i think that when he didnt let Haector rest in peace was him taking it way to far. I think that Achilles likes murder. I think that he reall did let his urge for vegence let lose. I think that he thinks about violence because he cant control himself . i personaly have let some anger out but i have never hurt anyone physically maybe just verbally.
I believe that Achilles has bound peace into his victory in a certain way. He may have not even realized it. By fulfilling his task to avenge Patroclus' death and kill Hector he is finished with his hate toward Troy. I think that he will stop bothering with the people of Troy and go on with his life however long he has to live it. I personally would not kill a man for revenge but I feel that back in the times of ancient Greece that is what men did; they killed. I don't really have an opinion on his revenge going too far or not. In some ways I understand it because Hector killed so he deserves to be killed but it is very barbaric in my opinion as well. I think that Achilles' anger is intense because of his personality and person overall. I also think that his past experiences have impacted who he is and how he acts as a person. I have many times experienced a need for vergeance but I have never really sought revenge on a person before. I have wanted to.
Audrey
I do not believe Achilles has found peace in his victory. I think he feels so guilty for Patroclus death that he will do anything to make himself feel better. Yes I think Achilles is partly ding this for his friend, but I think a lot of it guilt is building up in him. With this being said yes, I think Achilles is taking this way too far. For an example I would choose where Achilles is speaking to Hector and says he will no make no promise in proper burial rights. Even after he has killed Hector is still insists on dragging his body away. Again I feel this is more to make Achilles feel better then Patroclus being avenged. He feels so bad he will do anything to make himself feel a little better therefore taking things way too far. I personally have not had an experience where I have let vengeance run my rational thoughts. However I think everyone has had their moments where they have come close.

I think that Achilles never found peace in his victory. I also feel that his rage has gone too far. The fact that he continued to mutilate Hectors’ body shows that he never found his peace and how his revenge has gone to excess. Achilles’ anger is so intense because he represents anger. I feel that every body has had a need for vengeance that overran our rational thought. One time I had thought that my brother had stolen something out of my room I went in to his room and trashed it in search of the object. Then I found it not too long after in my room and my parents made me clean my brother’s room.
I think achilles thought he bound peace but really he dindt. He feels better though that he killed hector. I think he has not solved his problems though. I dont think his avenge has gone to far because it was for a friend. I think specifically in the story hector tries to make peace with him when he asks for a proper buruyal. Achilles says no because he was fighting for patroculus. Again achilles was so intense because of his losing of a friend. I think i would react in the same fashion if it was my best friend. On etime in my life where i lost rational thought was in 6th grade when somone ripped my shirt. I got mad and almost got in a fight. Thats the closest ive ever been.

In his mind i think that Achilles bound his peace in victorty I dont think that he has bound peace in victory. He should have let hector rest in peace, killing him was enough. Dragging his body and stabbing him multiple times was taking it way to far. I think that his anger is so intense, even with his vengeance complete because he always wins. He was pretty much born to be a good fighter. I my self have never had vengeance over run my rational thoughts. Unless fighting with hannah counts?
Do you think Achilles has bound peace in his victory? Do you think that his revenge has gone too far? Explain your answer with at least one reference to the story. Why do you think Achille's anger is so intense, even with his vengeance complete? Lastly, have you ever experienced a need for vengeance that over run your rational thought? Explain.
I think that achilles has thoiught to himself that there willbe peace now after his victory over hector. However, i believe that this peace doesnt exist. Not only id he kill him, which was normal for warriors in troy and sparta. Once he was killed he rideculed hm by the way they mutilated his body and dragged him around. The only peace would have been a nice funeral with the people from troy. I think this revenge went to far since Hector did say he would respect Achilles if he killed him. I tihnk that Achilles is like this because he lives in a war mentality. He does everything with intensity and brutality. Once n my life, my vengence got way over what was rational. My sister and i weree fighting and she broke my favorite hockey figurine. I was very upset. First i began to shave every one of her american girl dolls hair, i hung all of them from my net and shot pucks at them. I think this went way too far because not olnly was it expensiv, i fixed my figurine.
I do not think Achilles has bound peace in his victory. I also think that in his revenge, he did go too far. He dragged Hector's body around tied to the chariot, parading it around. Achilles’ was just being cruel there, he was already dead there is no reason to drag him around. Achille's anger is very intense even though his vengeance is complete. The reason I think this is, is because of his personality. Achilles’ is the god of war so he does have stay up to par and be tough. I have myself experienced vengeance. I have acted rationally one it once that my mom tells me about, my sister used to always make fun of me so one day I dragged her down the hallway by her hair when I was only a mere child. That was the only time I can recall when I have acted on vengeance.
From Achilles victory, i dont think he has found peace. After killing Hector, Achilles had to continue doing things that pertained to the death of Hecto, like humiliating him. He comes off as an asshole to me. You killed him, cant you be done now? is how i think of it. I think Achilles anger may be so intense because his friend was killed, that would make any person upset. Being that Hector grew up fighting because he was always the best probably made matters worse as well. I have never had an experience with a need for vengeance. I have had revenge on someone, because thats what happens when there are problems and we dont know how to solve things. MY revenge is when someone harmed your property or your friends you do it back for revenge. Not a smart idea, i learned, but that was a situation of revenge.
Achilles is the type of man and has the character to know that he has not found peace in his victory. Achille's revenge totally went to far. He has complete rage and his mind is completly lost. After Hector is dead, Achilles men stab his body repeadedly and tie him to the back of Achilles chariot. This proves Achilles rage has taken over him and nothing will put him at peace. His mindset is one of a spartan, he will never forget his hatred for any man he kills. I can say I have let anger and vengance take over my rational thought once before. Maybe twice. You just dont think about anything and act on your anger. You lose all control and your morals. Achilles was a monster, and his rage could never be released. Therefore although he killed Hector, he didnt get the satisfaction he killed him for. He killed Hector, but still had anger and hatred for his dead body.

I do not think Achilles has found peace in his victory. I also think his revenge has gone too far. I feel like his search for peace through his revenge did nothing for him except hurting his honor. If he had found peace in his victory, he would not have needed to drag his body around and let everyone stab it. He would have done the honorable thing and left Hector's body with his family and friends. Even though his vengeance is complete, I think that Achille's anger is so intense because he knows deep down that it is partly his fault for his friend's death. I think that he wants to kill Hector so badly because he feels like he's finally helping out his friend even though his life was taken away. I think rather than vengance I have had anger run over my rational thought before. When I was in elementary school and my sister made me really mad about something, she started hitting at me and trying to hurt me. I knew she couldn't hurt me that badly, but I was so mad with her that I just had to hit her back. I ended up hurting her and she was upset for a couple hours about it, but I felt like rather than thinking, I was just hitting. Anger seems to be something where if you don't get control of it quickly, it can take over your thoughts and actions.
I don't think Achilles completly found peace after killing Hector. However i do feel he had a great deal of stress releaved after killing the one who killed his friend. I don't feel that his revenge went to far because in the heat of battle you have to become an animal to stay alive. I think what he and his men did after Hector died by stabbing him was very similar to soldiers who go around and stab the dead with there beinets. He has obviously evenged his friends death but he is so brutal cause he still has much hate and anger for what he did to his friend. Yes in basketball i often get upset when opponents go after my teammates causing me to retaliate.

Never, was there peace created with Achilles victory. I believe that Achilles revenge had gone too far. He did a very dishonorable thing by mutilating Hector's body. Achilles' anger is so intense because of the way he is. It has always been part of his life to hurt other people. I always try my best to not let my anger overcome my rational thought. However, though, I still will want revenge on another person for something that they have done wrong. This, I believe, is part of human nature. Anger and the want for revenge are powerful feelings.
I do not think Achilles found peace in his victory. I do think Achilles revenge went to far. If Achilles found peace I think he might have been a little bit more honorable, and given the body of Hector back to his family for a proper burial, instead of dragging him down to his ships, too have Hectors body mangled. I think Achilles anger is so intense because, Hector had just killed his friend. Achilles might also feel a little guilty for sending Patroclus, alone, to fight Hector, even when he was asked to come and help, he denied. I have never had my need for vengeance over run my rational thought. I have never been pushed too the point where I needed vengeance. There are times when I get angry and decide that I nedd to do something back, if the person did something mean to someone, or me. I would never take my vengeance to the exreme of acting out in violence, unless it was a last resort, and the time called for it.
I don't think that Achilles found peace in his victory over Hector. I think that the anger Achilles has is more than Hector killing his friend. I think his anger has to do with his friends death is a little bit on Achilles too, and he knows this but cant do anything to change it now. I think that Achilles hopes that by killing Hector he will find peace with himself and not feel guilty, but I think he still does. I do think his revenge went too far because by Achilles killing Hector doesn't change the fact that his friend is dead, killing Hector wont bring him back to life, so what is the point of killing Hector? An example from the book of his revenge going to far is when Achilles drags Hectors body away and doesn't leave it for his people to honor. I think that even though Achilles won he should have left Hectors body and not dragged it behind his horse. I think that Achilles anger is so intense even with his vengeance complete because he doesn't feel as good as he thought he would after killing Hector. And this goes back to what I said before, he doesn't feel good after because by him killing Hector doesn't bring his friend back to life. At this time I cant think of a time where my vengeance has over run my rational thinking. But I know everyone has those times in their life where it happens. And if I haven't experienced it yet I know I will in my lifetime.

Hey my sister was using her computer all day to finish a paper so I wasn't able to do my blog but im doing it now.
To me I don't feel that Achilles has bound peace in his victory. He took it way to far and was not an honorable person when he gained his victory. Yes, I also do believe that his revenge went to far becuase after his victory he decided to drag Hector behind his chariate. All Hector wanted was a proper bareal and Achilles did not grant Hectors wish. I think that Achilles anger is so intense, even with his vengance complete because he wants to show the trojans that he is imortal and no one can defeat he so they should wallow in his fear. I don't think that I have ever found a need for vengance that would over run my rational thought.

I dont think that Achilles actually found peace in killing Hector. Even though he did win, his people and the people of Troy are still going to be fighting. I do not really think that his revenge went to far for his standards no. It may just seem like it because we didnt live in his time, so we might think that was kind of harsh. But to think about it, if someone killed your bestfriend, you might want to stab their body 100 times even though they are dead. He is so angry because he knows that no matter how many times he could stab Hector, it will never bring Patroclus back to life. Yes, I have sort of experienced this. In a football game, if you get cheap shoted, you take the kids number and kill him the next play. You dont worry about whats actually going on in the game, just getting the kid back that hit you.
