Today we shall do our last current event blog for the semester. The key to this one is that there can be no more than 2 blogs on the same story (this way I do not need to hear about Haiti from every person as I know what a tragedy it has been). NO CITE, NO POINTS.

Rifqa Bary ran away to Florida last summer because she feared her father would harm her because she converted to christianity. She lived in a Muslim home and he father was angry that she converted. The court decided on tuesday that she would live ina foster care home till August when she turns 18. I chose this event becuase i would never want this to happen to me. I'm thankful that i was raised in a house where i could chose whatever Religion i want to. I'm gla that this girl stood up for what she belived in even though she could no longer live at home. I find that this descion is remarkable and she is an inspiration.

The current event that I am going to do is about Republican Scott Brown winning the Massachusetts U.S. Senate election against Democrat Martha Coakley. This election was a big deal because if Brown did win, he could vote against health care getting passed this year. Brown could also filibuster. Democrats are already attributing Mrs. Coakley's defeat solely to her weaknesses as a candidate. The question now is how Democrats will respond to this historic election rebuke. This election impacts myself and my community. Different people in my community have different political views, so this event could either be a good thing for some people, or a bad thing to others. If health care is stopped it will change things that are going on in the white house. This election greatly affects our country.

Michigans unemployment rate has dropped to 14.6%. Over the last three months the unemployment rate has been improving. Things are finnaly starting to look up for michigan. Along with the housing sales increasing this is great news. As we all no we have been in a recession for quite some time now. The fact that things are looking up is great news for everyone. Hopefully, this will keep up and michigan can get back on track.

In Haiti people have started looting. People were on top of the building throwing concrete slabs at the looters. While trying to escape the panic a boy was struck in the head with a slab of concrete. CNN reporter Anderson Cooper jumped in and dragged the startled, bleeding, and confused boy to safety so he could receive medical attention. The boy kept wiping the blood from his face and clearly didn't know where he was. I think Anderson Cooper is pretty bad ass for running into the fight, which did involve gun fire, and pulling the boy out to safety and keeping him safe.

I know its about Haiti but a few days ago President Obama has made an effort to give Haiti 100 million dollars in relief. Personally i think that it is bull crap to be giving a country that we never really trade to and who is small as it is. Here in America, unemployment rates are insane. here in Michigan its at 14.6% like what Drew said. Now when you think about it, why are we giving 100 million U.S dollars to a country that hasnt done much for us? You may call me an ass for not having a heart towards Haiti, but here in America i am looking to survive and when 100 million dollars is going out the window it kind of grinds my gears. Also what has Haiti done for us to earn 100 million dollars, it just doesnt make sense that we have to do everything around this world and its costing us billions of dollars and sooner or later we are going to go bankrupt because we are so nice. If i were the President i would us every penny of that 100 million to help people with home forclosure find a home or use some of it to create a couple thousand jobs.

Last week, a New York teen was arrested for terrorizing the Apple Store. Seventeen year old Jason Berry left a threatning note on one of the computers as a joke. The message basically promised a "bloody death" for the empolyers and cutomers of the Apple Store. The note threatened everyones life by the use of a C4 bomb. The employee who found the note called the police immediantly. Finding who left the message was easy. Servailence cameras captured his use on the computer by signing on with a friends fathers name. When the police questioned him he told them it was a "joke" and that he "forgot" to delete it before he left the store. He could possibly serve serveal years in jail, and he owes a $10,000 fine. ever since 9/11 any threat, even if it was a joke, is taken seriously. There is a fine line between stupid and funny; this was very stupid.

Unemployment rates are said to peak in the middle of 2010. It is also said that it will be along time before jobless rates go down below normal. Many major cities have a minimum of 10% unemployment rate and will most likely stay like that until 2013. In november 17 metropolitan areas had unemployment rates topping 15 percent. I hope this goes down sooner then they are predicting. My dad works in construction and things are very slow. Theyre are days where he will have a ton of work or days when he will have no work, because of this he has to draw for unemployment.

In todays current event i would like to talk about the new air security. In todays air travel people are starting to get frustrated with some of the precautions that are being taken. Lines are starting to get crowed and more and more people are getting frisked everyday. Now travelers who would rather check their luggage than fight for space in the overhead carry-on bins now have to pay even more if they fly on Delta Air Lines, Continental, United, US Airways or American Airlines. All of which have raised their checked luggage fees since the beginning of the year. In a way i can agree with the safety precautions, but i don't understand paying more to get on a plane.
Texting and driving. Should it be illegal? Well, right now there is no law against it in Michigan. One woman in Macomb county wants that to change. She was hit by a teen girl texting and driving, and is now a quadriplegic. Her car was crushed like a tin can, and all the teen got was a couple points and a small fine. This is a big issue for all of us. I know ive texted while driving sometimes, and yes it does make it a little harder to pay attention. I dont know if i agree that there should be laws against this, but I do think you maybe could reduce the risk by only doing it at stoplights or something. The reason people do it is because we always think that "oh it wont happen to me" and that is so true. I personally know someone that actually got in a car accident from texting and driving. Its just not worth it to me. A wrecked car costs you a lot more than a missed text.

For my current event im going to talk about the 5 year old boy in Haiti that was found. The boy was found under rubble eight days after the 7.0 earthquake. The boy's mother was killed, and his father is missing. It was unclear whether the boy had access to food and water. But doctors attributed his survival to resilience and strength of his young body. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was said to have no broken bones. He was suffering from major dehydration though. Haitian government said it has recovered 72,000 bodies since last week's earthquake. It was a miracle his body was found.

People with heart disease are told to eat more fish and take more fish oil pills. They have omega-3 fatty acid, which helps people with heart disease from getting prone to illness or younger death. Now, researchers are saying that fish oil also helps make a person with heart disease grow older slower. Even though, taking these pills do come with limitations. Dr. Ramin Farzaneh-Far of the University of California San Francisco and colleagues did an experiment with almost over 600 men with heart disease. These men had an intake of fish oil everyday. At the end of the experiment, the men where “biologically younger” because they took more fish oil. This can make such a difference in peoples lives. My dad has heart issues and now that I know about omega-3 making people grow slower and help thier heart, I will suggest this to my dad.

I am not the kind of person who wastes my time reading tabloids and to be honest, I do not really give a shit about celebrities when it comes to who they are dating, who they are feuding and what they are doing at every moment of every day. Despite this, for my blog tonight I am going to talk about Heidi Montag. I am not going to lie, I have never seen an episode of Hills once in my life and up until this morning, I have only overheard her name a time or two. However I could not help but watch Montag this morning on Good Morning America as she "revealed" her brand new plastic surgically altered face and body. During the interview Heidi told JuJu Chang of GMA that she believed she absolutely needed the ten (YES TEN) plastic surgery procedures even though she is a 23 year old and naturally attractive young woman. She claims that her old body, breast size and face needed to be changed drastically and because of the ten hour surgery, she is a much happier and an overall improved person. The message that this twenty three year old "star" is sending to girls all around the world is terrifying. This current event may be based on entertainment, yet it affects girls my age tremendously. Most teenage girls are very easily influenced by the entertainment industry and the narrow depiction of beauty that is often displayed in magazines and television can cause girls to rethink their own definition of beauty. It is not news that thousands of young women have died because of eating disorders and other abuse they put themselves through in attempt to reach the same generic approval through which Montag is promoting. Montag's new look turned her into another plastic, generic, young woman, yet she supports her decision 100%. I pray to god that girls my age are smart enough to look past the wretched message she is portraying. I mean really what the hell happened to inner beauty?
Seriously though, her interview will make you gag. Watch it at…

Today for my current event, i am doing Man flees in Munich airport laptop explosives alert. A passenger fled from security officers after his laptop computer bag tested positive for explosives at an airport in Munich, the country's federal police told CNN on Wednesday. Police said they are searching for the passenger, who fled from the secure area of the airport into the public area of Terminal 2, police said. Part of the airport was shut down after the suspect fled, but was later reopened. Police were not sure if the man was still in the airport, they said, and did not know which flight he was booked on. All planes in that area of Terminal 2 were evacuated and all luggage was removed, police said. The passengers had to leave the secure area and be rescreened, an airport representative told CNN, adding that the airport was otherwise operating normally. This current event pertains to the communities life because if that guy were to get on the plane it could of killed many people.

A new warning from health experts in London are saying that sitting for long periods of time my be deadly. Several studies suggest that people who spend most of their days sitting are at more likely at the risk of obesity, heart failure and death. It doesn't matter where the sitting takes place, just how many hours that add up. After four hours of sitting the body starts to send harmful signals, and the regulation of glucose and fat begin to shut down. This article made me want to immediately stand up from my computer desk. I never thought that such a harmless activity could be harmful to your health. This affects us because we sit for six hours everyday, and later on in our jobs we may be sitting for more. I honestly don't think you can die from sitting, but you never know. This just reminds me to stay active and exercise everyday to stay as healthy as I possibly can.

Bombs were found in a house where 8 people were killed today. The suspect, Christopher Speight, surrendered after they hunted him down. He even shot at a police helicopter and ruptured the gas tank. Thankfully nobody inside the helicopter was hurt. So far police have no motive for the murders. The victims haven't been identified yet either. Eight people killed by one person, thats scary. God knows how many more people he could've killed if they didn't catch him. It took them a while to catch him though. I'm not sure why he surrendered though. Maybe because he had no weapons left or something. I just hope he doesn't get out of jail soon.

Early this morning Christopher Speight turned himself in to a Virginia police department. Chris was wearing a bulletproof vest and was said to be the killer of 8 other virginia natives. Tuesday there was a massive man hunt to find this deadly killer who was on the run. Police have found 8 bodies killed by Speight and these bodies have yet to be identified. The man then turned himself in, after staying on the run through the trees and woods all night. I found this to be very interesting. I dont know why someone would run around and try and hide all night and then just give up and turn your self in. I am also to find out more information on why he killed his victims and also why he gave up and turned himself in. This is scary to see that things like this happen for no apparent reason. I feel it is very weak to kill people just cause you have problems its not really fair but then again life isn't fair.

Christopher Speight, 39, turned himself in to authorities early this morning. He lives in Virginia and was suspected of killing 8 people. One victim was found still alive in a roadway and died at the hospital. The others were found dead in and around Mr. Speights residence. Also found in and around the home were numerous explosives which are currently being safely detonated by the authorities. I chose this event because i cant imagine what i would do if i lost a loved one and many people have just lost theirs due to the actions of this man. When someone is killed it isnt just their life that ends. It effects everyone in their life. Im lucky enough to not have had someone im very close with die and i cant imagine how i would deal with it. So, i feel tuely sorry for the families of the 8 that were killed by this man.
For my current event, i have decided to talk about the election of Republican Scott Brown of Massachusetts for senate. Along with his shocking victory, many democrats also feared his vote inwhich would be put forth to stop this passing of health care. This vote is nothing random, but is being put up torwards Obama's want for the health care. Health care is found very important to Demorcats.
Following another loss inthe senate, this will lead up to many more problems for the obama administration. One of the biggest issues which will be presented is the difficulty it will be for obama to live up to all his promises made during his campaign speeches.
Hearing about this amazes me in how a single election can swing the polls of many other government leaders spots and there beliefs.

Besides the earth quakes in Haiti there is have been a series of natural disasters occurring with in the U.S. California has been his with three massive storms, causing more than 600 homes to be evacuated and over millions of dollars in property damage. I think this problem is very important because this is the first time I have herd about the storms in Calif. While most of the news is on Haiti, we aren't acknowledging out own needs of people in THIS country. Instead we are more concerned about people in other countries. In a way that is a good thing because America is the only country to offer aid to just about any other country. But that still doesn't solve the issues in California.

In southern california a national disaster is occuring. It is said to rain 10 inches today alone. This is caused by an el nino coming over the moutain ranges. This el nino has no chance of slowing down soon either. Right now it will for the next three nights. This has caused over 600 to leave their houses. The weather service is calling for mudslides soon. This is horrible becuase now the property damage will increase even more from what it is.
I read the article, "IPS student hospitalized after school bus beating." An incident happened where a bully beated a 12 year old girl on the bus. She had to be taken to the hospital with a collapsed lung. The parents of the injured girl said that the incident could have easily been avoided. The family had called the school several times due to the bully but the school did nothing about it. I find this sad because I don't think anyone should have to go though the humiliation. I think the school should start having a zero tolerance for bullying and when a report is made they need to check it out. I think schools will start becoming more strict because they need to prevent stuff like this from happening.

The current event I chose was Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop wants to cut the pay & benefits of public workers. He wants teachers, professors, and state & local government workers to take a 5 percent cut for three years to save money. Bishop is proposing a constitutional amendment to go to voters in August. He wants to suspend collective bargaining rights and allow the pay cut to take effect. Also, he wants public employee's pay 20% of their health care premiums unless they participate in a HSA or wellness program. Bishop wants to do this to eliminate 1.6 billion deficit in next year's budget. Our state worers have already reduced their compsenation and it's not fair to ask our teachers to take additional pay cuts to balance the budget. It has been total mismanagemet of money and the people that provide our education should not have to pay the price. My aunts & uncles that are school teachers are outraged by this request and I can't say that I blame them. The state needs to find other ways to balance their budget.

On Tuesday, in Santa Fe, Texas, an emergency 911 call was made. The lady on the phone claimed to need an ambulance for "a man that [was] laying down behind the Santa Fe Seafood and Grill" that was not moving. Later, it was found out that two ladies were trying to divert attention away from the west side of the city where the backup ambulance was held so that they could steal the narcotics inside. They never succeeded. They were arrested and charged with burglary, illegitimate use of 911 services, drug charges and other things. This was very dumb. It's amazing what people will do to get what they want. This affects people from all around the country because I'm sure that things like this happen all the time. The basic lesson here is to keep a sharp eye on the things people do so that people won't succeed in their illegal activities.

the current event i have chosen to blog about is about medicine with a cheaper cost. this medicine would be distributed to third world countries. The problem the drug companies are facing is financial. no large company is going to help fund them without any profit in return. This current event upsets me but i am also hopeful. i think it is so important to help others, even if those others are miles away in a different country. I believe its a very good thing that people are making an initiative to help those people afford medicine. This current even also upsets me, although people are trying to help them they have a finical barrier. i understand reasoning for financial supports not wanted to take part in this if it costs them money, but its greedy not to become involved if you just don't have a profit. I hate to think that there are so many people out there that their greed affects them from wanting to help other in need.

Tonight my current even is going to be about the 4 year old girl being hit by a 5,000 pound SUV. Just two days before Thanksgiving, the mom, Shelly, came back from her appointment, finding an emergency crew and a large amount of people surrounding a child laying on the ground. It turns out, that it was her daughter. She was riding her bike home, and the truck driver just ended a call and didn't see the little girl and hit her dead on. The little girl was rushed to the hospital and the surgeon made it clear that her daughter was going to die. That night, Shelly, stayed with her all night. This proves that there should be a law against driving and talking on the phone and texting. Lives are at risk here. Being on the phone, is just like being a distracted driver. This effects me because, I'm going to be driving in the early Spring, and when I do, there are chances that I could get in an accident because someone was on their phone. Stakes are higher now more than ever because people are less careful. A killed innocent person or answering a phone call or text? Which would you rather have?

Today I would like to talk about Liberia. I know not many people have followed up on this. There is a major civil war going on in Liberia. These people are so messed up that they do drugs and kill innocent children just before they enter battle. The main goal of this all is to eliminate rebels and take over control of Liberia. Some leaders even try to eat other leaders alive before executing them. Currently the U.S. is in pursuit of finding major warlords and bringing them to justice.
This event does not really impact my life as it does others from liberia. I think this is just crazy and needs to be stoped. They force young children into drugs and sacrifice. This is just terrible.

My current event is going to be on the campaign that is going to take place in March, for senate. McCain and Palin are going to run for senate. Palin is already attending a fundraising event to help raise money to give them a better shot at getting this seat. Even thought Palin said shes excited to get back on the campaign trail with McCain, after their big loss during the presidential elections, she wrote a book that complained about McCain. I honestly dont see the point in them running again, because Palin is a terrible politic. She cant evcen answer a straight forward question. She has to go around it by making herself sound safisticated. McCain almost does the same thing, except he gives the people an answer to their question and he keeps on going, like an old person normally would.
In China, the hit movie Avatar is going to be pulled from all 2-D screens after making $76 million in Chinese ticket sales. The 3-D and IMAX versions of the film will continue, but most of the Chinese movie theaters are not equipped with 3-D technology. This means that the movie is going to be pulled from 1,628 movie theaters in China compared to the 800 3-D and IMAX cinemas. The movie is going to be replaced by a government-made film, Confucius, about a renowned Chinese philosopher. People believe that the movie Avatar may make the people of China start violence, because they can relate to the characters of Avatar, who are trying to fight against the government for their homes. I think this just shows how lucky we are to live in America. We just started going over the American Constitution and all the ideas from the enlightenment period about freedom. China is still strictly regulated by their government. We may think our government controls a lot, but in comparison to China, we have many more liberties. It makes me happy to be an American.

For my current even I'm going to talk about 'stab vests' for fans attending the World Cup in South Africa. Government statistics show that 50 people are killed daily in South Africa. This is usally a result of an argument or even a misunderstanding. In most of these cases knives were used in the murders. People argue that no matter where the location, there is always crime. They say it's insulting to advertise a vest to prevent this when there has been no recent report of murder at games in the past. It also is making the tourist rate have a greater chance to drop because of the accusations. In my opinion, I wouldn't show up to a Football game if I had a great chance of being killed. I value my life more than a game.

Today in Nigeria, a fight broke out and ended with more than 200 people found dead. The fight was between Muslims and Christans, that apparently had started several days before. People burned each other in the streets. Since 2001, more than 2,500 Nigerians have died in the religous fightings. Officals say that the fightings are started by religous extremist. The government is yet to hold anything accountable and, is struggleing in handleing the situation. The government has depolyed soldiers to patrol the streets, but they have not solved any of the problems and the religous violence continues to happen. This concerns me because, I just feel it really sad when innocent people are murdered for something like religion. I know it is probably a little more easily provoked when people are desperate and living in poverty, but such violence is unnesecary.

Tonight i am going to talk about a suspect in virginia. Police discovered several explosive devices on Wednesday at the Virginia home of a suspect in the shooting deaths of eight people.
The police announced that the explosive devices were found inside and outside Christopher Speight. He went and turned himself in to authorities early Wednesday morning. I dont really understand how anyone could kill anyone and get away with it.
Recently some little girl was hit while riding her bike by a 5,000 suv. I bet you couldnt guess why this girl was hit. The lady was on her phone not paying attention and didnt see her. However, he asked for a plead up in order to serve a longer sentence. He says the longer time in jail will kepp him off herion, and he will be able to return to normal sleeping patterns. In my opinion, which he shouldn't have been doign these illegal substances in the first place, he was acting very respectible to himself in this situation. HE realized that he had a problem, and he was doing what he felt was necessary to overcome it. I respect him for that. It shows how he is willing to take responsibility for himself and his actions, and I wish more people would follow his example.

For my current event I am going ot talk about research done in a California college on the ways music can influence people. Music does different things to all of us. It can make a person happy, sad, and even excited. What else can it do? Can it cure a disease? Scientists are trying to figure that out.
NIH-funded scientists are exploring the different ways music can influence our bodies and minds. Their research may also lead on creative processes. Scientists hope to find the power of music to develop new treatments for people with stroke, autism and many other conditions.
In some tests students found that music can reduce main when taking medications others say that music can lower blood pressure benefitting heart disease.
I think these experiments are so awesome. I think it's so interesting that scientists are taking a total different approach to curing diseases. If theri theories prove to be true; health care costs would go down a lot. Think about it, instead of paying for that expensive perscription every month, you could go out, buy a cd and listen to it everyday and ENJOY yourself without the pain. Who knows? Maybe the doctors office will be a fun place to go to in the future compared to now (I hate the doctors office). :)

A 12-year-old girl drove her grandfather's car more than a dozen miles through the mountains of West Virginia after he began feeling dizzy and faint. As George Scheuering, diabetic, drove his small car through the winding roads of Bolt Mountain, his grandchildren, Zak and Anna, noticed their grandfather was sweating a lot and swerving all over the road. So 12-year-old Anna decided to drive the car. For more than a dozen miles, Anna managed to keep the car on the twisty roads as their grand father faded in and out. Anna even passed a few dump trucks that scared her to death before she and Zak were able to get their dad on the phone. "I said, well this is great. I got a 12-year-old driving a car. Don't know what's going on with my dad, and I got someone in the back seat. Good night!" said Anna and Zak's father. With her dad's help, Anna found a gas station where she pulled over. "I told this guy, 'I'm a 12-year-old girl driving, and I don't know what to do,'" she said. The store clerk called an ambulance, which took Scheuering to a nearby hospital, where he recovered enough to hear how he'd gotten there.
It is amazing that this 12-year-old girl was able to drive. Let alone driving though twisting and turning roads in a mountain. To top it she had no help for a long time. I know that I would not have been able to do that when I was 12 years old. It is good that she was able to get everyone to safety. Both kids were very brave. They didn’t give up when they couldn’t get help right away they just kept driving and calling until they got their dad. Most kids would have pulled over and freaked out or worse yet, caused an accident. I congratulate that fast thinking little girl.
Tonight I am going to blog about the 19 year old in China who killed a corrupt politician. Lots of people claimed that he would take what he wanted illegaly then when some one tried to raise up against him, he had them beat or tortured to shut up. Thousands of people petitioned the court for leniency for the kid — to no avail. But no official comment on the kids sentence from the court has been heard. It is believed that the government has ordered a medis blackout. I can see why the kid is being seen as a hero. The kid relieved the people of a tyrant. Isn't that our definition of a "hero"? To relieve people of some "evil" force of some kind, or do something great, or to be held in high regards is what it means to be a hero, am I right? It's just like the sayings, "what goes around comes around", "karmas a bitch", and "revenge is a dish best served cold". But with the kid killing the politician, someone worse might take his spot. Good can not exist with out evil, can it? So if thats the truth then no matter how much people deny it, the fact is that the human race is centered around conflicts of some source.

For my current event im going to blog about a very interesting topis that happened on Tuesday. A man named Damon Conrow took a charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. If the 25 year old man plead guilty in would have been taken as a first degree sentence, but because he didnt, purposefully, he was covicted of a second degree felony. Conrow wanted to make his sentence longer so he could stop using heroin and be clean. He wanted his withdrawl symptoms to leave, and soon have back normal sleeping patterns. He said he would soon be happier and be done with withdrawls in about 8 weeks. This event actually means something to me. Its so great that the man actually stood up and took a longer sentence to clean up, he was responsible on that part. This event hits me because of some personal family things that i dont like talking about.. My aunt is a drug addict and alcoholic. Weve tried everything to help her but its gone too far. She wont stop and after many rehabs she just relapses afterwards. My mom always said that she wishes she would get caught, and taken to jail. I never quite completely understood why. But in that situation she would be forced to become sober and be herslf without any drugs or alcohol. Although if that happened now, she ould go back to the same stuff, i believe many years ago if this happend, her life could have changed. She wont change, for anyhting, its what she wants, so now we just have to love her for who she is. I honestly respect that man for bringing it upon himself to make his sentence longer to clean himself up. That takes alot of will power and inner strength.

I wnat to talk about how cindy McCain has peem posing for NOH8 recently. NOH8 is a photo campaign making effort to overturn Proposition 8 and legalize same sex marriage. Despite her husbands strong feelings against same sex marrige, Cindy has made a stand for gay rights. Her daughter, Megan also agrees that more republicans should look into more civil rights for gays too. McCain maintains his stance against gay marrige, but this even shows that even republicans' families are starting to relize that homosexual people deserve the same rights that others have. Many other republicans are starting to mix their beliefs with those of democrats. Gay rights are finally starting to be recognized in the high up polotical world, and maybe it won'tbe long until gays are treated like people, rather than freaks.

At least 23 people were killed in the prison riot in Mexico. Another 20 or so were reported injured. The fight broke out at an inmate check-in area. No one knew the cause of the riot but officials said that tension was high in the facility. Police were stationed throughout the prison to stop the riot. Family members of the inmates waited eagerly outside the prison to hear the knews. I would feel awful if I was one of the people waiting outside to hear if their loved one is dead or alive. It would be very hard to stand their, not knowing if they made it or not. I dont understand how 23 people died before guards and police could stop the riot. I think these prisons need to have a higher staff so that these things can be handled quickly.

Sorry I had no acsess to a computer yesterday.
For my current event today I am going to talk about the riot in a Mexican prison that resulted in 23 dead. A riot broke out in a northern Mexican Prison in Durango. Guards quelled the deadly fight and police where stationed throughout the prison. The took place on a wednesday and left 23 dead and 20 injured. They are unclean why the riot took place, and there is still a lot of tension in the prison. The riot appeared to take place in a prisoner in-processing area, but violence may have simultaneously broken out in other parts of the building as well. The names of the victums were not made avaliable immeditely and worrired family members waited outside of the prison awaiting more details.

For my current event i found an article on a man who is pleading for more jail time. A Utah man has chosen to fight heroin addiction by spending more time in jail. Damon Conrow was sentenced Tuesday on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance after asking to "plead up" to a first-degree folony. The charge had been a second-degree felony, but Conrow wanted a longer sentence. He said he will eventually be more happier then he is now because he won't be addicted to herion. He was sentenced in december and was asked again this tuesday if he wanted to change his mine, and he declined. I think this is very brave and smart for him. it shows that he really wants to get over his addiction and become a better person in the long run. This is related to our society because not many people who have addictions are willing to try and get over them. This man shows that there are people out there who want a better life for themselves.

I am going to do my blog on president obama. Yesterday he said that the bank restrictions need to be better and that the senate needs to pass more votes. That is for the new health care plan of course. The bank propasal is to limit banks from taking high risks trades. I agree with this because a lot of times banks can get screwed when people take a risk. I think this connects to my life though because I am going to be in that crazy world in a few years. All of us are going to be fighting for a limited amount of jobs. That kind of scares me when i think about it.

My blog is late because I forgot that we only had 4 days this week and I didn't do this blog. I know I probably won't get points for this blog but I really don't want the detention for missing a blog. Anyways, I would like to talk about the subject of Haiti's. Not just about the earthquake, but about what's going on their since the earthquake. All of those people their are starving and don't have food to eat. So what do the do? Go to places like orphanages. In Haiti their is an orphanage with 175 children living their, and the other day it was robbed. People down their are getting so desperate for food, water, and medical supplies. They say it just keeps getting worse and worse. Haiti is known as the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Before the earthquake Haiti was in bad shape. Now after the earthquake the situation is even worse. To protect the children in the orphanages they put them under lock down. Low food in orphanages is said to continue for weeks. Even deaths of those poor little are being reported. Hopefully things will change soon for all of them. It's sad to think that I'm sitting in my home and all those people are homeless now. I just wish I could do something for them to.

My computer has been down.
My current event is about how how the Nikon coolpix camera has been said to be racist. When you take the picture with the camera it says did someone blink when you are done taking the picture. When infact no one blinked they were just asian. This messaged stopped poping up when the asian opened their eyes enough to look bug eyed. This could be very offensive to many asian. This effects me because I almost got this camera for Christmas. If I would have got this camera I could even be offended for the asian people.
