Day 22
Today we shall current event. Here is today's parameter. Only two people can do the same article/topic. Make sure you look closely to not be the third person or yours will not count. As always, no sports or entertainment (not really that newsworthy that Jay Leno is going back to late night) unless you can tie it into something topical in another way. NO CITE, NO POINTS.

Thousands of people are feared dead after a terrible earthquake in Haiti. The worst they have seen in two centuries, the 7.0 magnitude earthquake is said to have affected three million people, and it is to believed that over 100,000 have died. This earthquake does not affect us personally, but a lot of people in this country are devastated right now. I think it is bizarre that one of the things that can hurt us the most is something we cannot prevent. They could have predicted that the earthquake was coming, but they can't stop it. Hurricane Katrina was not expected to make the damage that it did. It is unfortunate for the countries without the technology to detect extreme weather. Our state is lucky to be in a relativity calm area for weather.

There are many good and bad events happening around the world. Today I would like to focus on a good event. There is a breast cancer breakthrough that just occured. There is a new procedure that shows that women may be able to regrow breasts. A pioneering Australian surgery may make it possible for breast cancer patients to "regrow" their breasts. Up until recently mastectomy patients have had the option of either getting breast implants, or forgoing replacement altogether. This new breakthrough could greatly affect the cosmetic surgery industry by allowing women to grow bigger natural breasts. Breasts have been "grown" on pigs by inducing the animals’ own fat cells to reproduce into molded chambers implanted beneath the skin on their chests. This new breakthrough can affect the world dramatically. This event also relates to myself and my community. If I were to ever get breast cancer, I would be devestated. This new breakthrough would make me feel better about myself if it did indeed helped. I know women in my community who have had breast cancer. It is a scary thing, and I think that this new breakthrough will make it somewhat easier on women who find out they have breast cancer. I'm glad there is still some good events happening in the world.

I chose to do my current event on the earthquake that has hit Haiti. This quake measured 7.0 magnitude. The earthquake has devasted Haiti and has flattened the Haitian capital. The death toll is going to top 100,000. Haiti is one of the poorest, most densely populated country in the Western Hemisphere. 80% of the 9 million residents live in poverty. The earthquake has destroyed buildings and neighborhoods. People are searching for family members and friends. Some American visitors or workers in Haiti have not been heard from since Tuesday. There are approx 45,000 American's in Haiti. I think it is so sad that a country that is already at a disadvantage has to suffer even a greater loss. The U.S. and other countries are trying to get aide to Haiti asap. Earthquakes can happen anywhere, and we need to be prepared when something like this happens. When people from everywhere need to help out wherever possible. You never know when you are going to be that person in need. Hopefully, aide will reach Haiti soon.

Today for my current event i chose Google may leave China after cyber attack. Google said Tuesday that it may leave China and shut down its strictly monitored site there, Google.com, citing censorship rules and a targeted cyber attack on its network infrastructure. In a blog post, senior vice president of corporate development and chief legal officer David Drummond said the search giant first detected the attack last month and thought it posed a security threat, adding that the company frequently faces cyber attacks of varying degrees. But an investigation of the attack exposed evidence that showed the attackers' primary goal was to access Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists, Drummond said. While two accounts were hacked, the accessed information was limited to the date the account was created and subject lines, not the content of any emails. This pertains to the communitys life because if this happened in China it could happen to anyone. This would be really sad, since google is such a big part of all of our lives.

For todays current event i would like to talk about the relief plan that Obama is establishing. He's looking to recoup billions in expected losses from the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Obama is announcing a plan on thursday to improve fees and other financial aid to the country. The fee on financial institutions would raise up to $120 billion to ensure that taxpayers who bailed out banks are paid back, the official said Tuesday. I agree with Obama's plan to do this relief plan because in the economy today we are having enough problems with money. If this plan works it will regain back as much as 120$ billions dollars back to the tax payers. Not only will this plan pay some people back it also may bring back some lost confidence to the world.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice the rise in gas prices lately. Sources say that they are expected to continue to rise. For every $1 added to the price of a barrel of oil, it adds about $2.50 to the price of a gallon of gas. The average price is $2.75, but its slowly approaching $3. The price has also dropped because refiners' margins, the profit they earn from refining crude oil into gas, have dropped. So they've decreased production, which has resulted in less gas being made. This effects me because towards the end of February, I am getting my license, and I really don't want to pay the approaching $3 per gallon of gas. And, both my parents have a long drive to work. Which means more money towards gas, and less money for other needs.

Everyone knows that exercise is good for you, but did you know that it is good for your brain? New studies say that people who exercise on a regular basis helps improve your cognitive function. Scientist took a group of people with mild cognitive impairment, which is described as a condition between the normal cognitive changes that occur with aging and dementia. Half of the group did vigerous arobic activity, while the other did streching and kept their heart rate up. After six months some cognitive funtions improved in the group who did vigerous arobic activity. They improved multitasking, cognitive flexibility, information processing efficiency and selective attention. Those of the second study showed that mild excersize didn’t improve any cognitive imparment a person could receive later in life. So, in the end, when people increase their heart rate with vigerous arobic excesize, it also increases the blood flow in your brain along with keeping you healthy.

Drug lord, Teodoro Garcia Simental, was arrested. Mexican authorities found him with the help of U.S. officials. They finally found him after tracking him for 6 months. He is responsible for killing 300 people. President Felipe has waged war against the drug cartels.
I'm glad I don't live in Mexico. With this guy running around I don't know what I'd do. Not to mention all the people who were killed by this guy. 300 people killed? And this guy was involved in all of them? What's even scarier is the way he killed all of them: beheadings, dissolving their bodies in vats of caustic soda. This guy is truly messed up in the head.

On Christmas Mass, the Pope was knocked down by 25 year old, Susanna Maiolo. Apparenlty she has a history of psychiatric problems. The Pope just declared that he has forgiven her. I tihnk that he is forgiving her because he is Pope and is suposed to be reasonable and careing toward the people. If I were him, I don't know if I would forgive her. In christmas 2008, she tried to knock him down as well, but failed to make it to him. I find this strange that someone has their heart set on knocking down one of the most religious men in todays society. The Pope must be a good man to forgive the woman who tried to hurt him.

Their has been so terrorist attacks over the few years. Especially on air planes. Obama is trying to save air travelers by getting new technology scanners. The scanners will give full body scans. The scanners don't detect everything. They also won't be in every single airport. Obama did this because of the almost terror attack on Christmas day. The scanner doesn't use regular rays. They don't show all the way threw your body. it shows everything on your body, and anything on your body. The only thing they say they might not be able to find is something inside the body.

For my current event, i would like to discuss the insodent in which had happened recently at wal-mart. Yesterday at a wal-mart, a random man had jogged into the store and out of no were punched at the wal-mart greeter whom had been standing in the front of the store. The greeter then turned around and chased the man down and started punching him. Suprisingly, the greeter was a 69 years old who had been defending himself. After the man who had swung at the greeter was arrested and taken by the police, the greeter was then talked to by his boss and fired.
After hearing this situation, i completely disagreed with the choice made by the boss in firing the man to be completely wrong. Not only was the man almost 70 years old but he had no other choice than to defend himself. It just amazes me how people look at situations and dont even consider the reasons behind it before making a stupid decision like firing someone for it.

for my event i found this articalon how teens are effected by the economy. this talks about how we dont have jobs. its not just the adults that dont have jobs we dont either. the ression has effected a lot of ppl but it made job hunting a disaster for us. this effects us because we cant pay for a car, cellphone, really anything. which makes us rely on our parents againg. were supose to be growing up and going on our own but when we have to rely on your parents to buy us things, how are we going to move out? how are we going to become our own person and move out when we have no money? we cant. and when we rely on our parenst they have to provide the things we need. wheather or not they have jobs its hard enouf for them in the economy, with out us telling them what else we need. my dad tells me that i need to get a real job. i tell him its impossible becase i cant drive yet, and even if i could my trucks broke so id need money to get it fixed but i have to pay for it. its hard on all teenagers getting a job. i dont see how were going to leave home. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1952331,00.html?cnn=yes
Do you get enough calcium? Studies have shown that 1 out of 8 men over the age of 50 have osteoporosis, as well as one in every four women. O Osteoporosis is bone loss that is "thinning" or weakening your bones. This is one of the rare diseases that does not have any symptoms when you have osteoporosis. Unfortunately, you could go for years without knowing you have osteoporosis, until you suffer from some fractures. Bones are mostly made up of calcium. So with drinking milk and other food products that have a high amount of calcium in it, it will help keep your bones strong, as well as it will help your heart! When I was younger, I didn't like drinking my milk. However, my mom would always tell me "Alanna, you have to finish drinking your milk otherwise you can't have desert." So logically I would drink my milk. It wasn't up until this year, O actually started like drinking milk. This is good, because I want to have strong bones from the sports that I play and I want to stay healthy. I bet if a lot of kids knew about osteoporosis, they would think twice before not drinking their milk! [:

Out of the $787 billion stimulus package, $90 billion is set aside in realtion to clean energy. $5 billion of these funds have helped create 51,700 jobs nationwide. According to the CEA, the funds have also helped create another 11,000 jobs. The CEA says that, "These investments have the potential to jumpstart the transition of the American economy to greater efficiency and cleaner energy." I think that when the government first started using all this funding, we didn't not see many improvements or positive news come from it. Now, though, I see that many jobs have been created and that the money is going to help the future of America. Although I am upset that I am going to have to help pay off these massive debts, I know that much of the spending was needed. I hope that we continue to see more positive news from the stimulus package as the year continues.

I read about how Logan airport in Boston has a new anti-terror robot. This robot is at the securty check point in the Logan airport. It can go into dangerous situation and destroy bombs and it even has arms to be able to pick up bags etc. I think that its a smart idea to have something other than a humans to keep an eye on people. Because, if you were a terrorists your main look out is the securty gaurds not a robot. But, I also think its sort of a waste of money because this robot does what any normal human can. So I don't see why the security at airports just gets better and say good not start to lack after a few years. All and all I think its a smart invention but there probably are smarter financial choices airports could make then to buy a robot.

For my current event I'm going to talk about the pint for pint deal in Tacoma, Washington. This hospital serves South King and all of Pierce County. So it always needs blood in case of imergencies for their patients. Over the holidays there was a blood shortage in their area. To get people to donate they started the pint for pint deal. If someone gave a pint of blood, then they would get a pint of beer. People that even hate giving blood went to this event. Only 37% of the population are eligable to donate blood. Only 5 percent of that group actually do. So this was a great way to get people to donate in a rewarding way. This relates to myself because if I needed blood, then I know there are always people thinking of ideas to attract people to give.

for my blog i am writing about a twitter account set up to support Haiti. (this blog is not about the earthquake in Haiti, but a website about it.) the website is called Yele Haiti, and it was founded by the singer Wyclef Jean, who was originally from Haiti. the twitter feed was the most visited site on Wednesday. when i read this i was really pleased that many people are taking the time to help Haiti in their time of need. i think it is extremely important that aside from our differences and distance we can all help and work together to rebuild and restore a country with so much damage. its especially important because many people are having financial difficulties in the US and having so many people donate really says a lot. that even though our country going through difficulties people are willing to help other in need.

Some of the people who saw the movie, "Avatar", are having feelings of depression. The people who are feeling depressed is because they long to live in a world such as that of Pandora. The 3-D makes Pandora look like paradise. There is nothing like Pandora here on earth, which makes people wish they could have access to a place like it. A forum was created for fans to find help on how to deal with their depression. Fans try to help eachother cope with their depression. I honestly feel bad for those who are depressed after seeing the movie. If I were depressed after watching Avatar, I would feel as if I have no meaning on earth, like I lost purpose. Its crazy how a movie could have that effect on people. Its confusing because the movie was so good, that its bad. It brought people back to reality and some of them didnt want to leave the fantasy world they experienced.

For my blog tonight i am going to talk about racsism. First of all, is there still rascism in the U.S. today? Apparently there is.
We're just going to put it out there, Behind closed doors, whites talk differently about blacks.
At least that's what two sociologists found after makeing a study of college students across the country. Feagin said, "Most whites have sharply reduced the blatantly racist stuff they do in public, but they still do huge amounts of rascism in private."
Feagin and Leslie Picca of the University of Dayton compiled their research in a book called "Two-Faced Racism" published in 2007. They surveyed 626 white students at 28 colleges and universities all aroud the country. They asked the students to keep diaries and record any racial events they came across during the course of a day.
The students recorded 9,000 accounts, of which 7,500 were "blatantly racist" events ranging from private jokes and conversations, to violent incidents, Feagin said. About 100 accounts stood up against racism.
Now i believe that this artical is very true. Everyday i here somethings racsist and some funny but still wrong and it is a problem in our country. I do believe that rascism still exists but it is now only seret racsism. I think everyone has heard a Tiger Woods joke and yes some do consider those jokes to be rascist. I'm not saying that racsism is bad or good. All i know is that it has been in our country sense the begining. Ever sense the United States was formed there has been racsism, and even before that. Racsism has formed our country. I believe that racsim will never end.

I choose to do my current event on something sports related. Mark Mcgwire recently came out and said that he in fact did steroids. We now learn that he did lie to a federal judge. Who in baseball hasnt done steroids, is the question? Every yeal the MLB gives each player four drug tests. Only four to cover a 162 game season and training camp as well as playoffs. I think that the mlb needs to up this number. As more people come out, they need to crack down. Maybe they could test once a month i think thats reasonable. Some guys say this affects their privacy, but i think thats jjust something to hide it with. But back to our buddy Mark. Next. he said that he didnt feel gui;ty about taking steriods. If he didnt feel guilty why would he come out and announce this. Something isnt right and im very inruiged to see what happens.

Prosecutors say that juvenile crime incidents are rising. A father whos teen daughter was assualted by another teen hockey player early this year. He is still waiting for court and the reason for this is due to the recent increase of juvenile crime. The girls father called the wait for justice "unfair to juvenile and defendant and victim." They also had to wait weeks for the police to give them the police report and arrest record. Police say recent gang activities have led to more violent crimes commited by teens. This to me is not surprising. I know everywhere I go I got to look out for these things. Sooner or later crime will become to high to handle and I belive thats a scary thing.

It is no news that the economy has not been at it's best in the last couple years. However, in recent times it has been discovered that this poor economy has had a major effect on the jobs of teenagers as well. It has recently been reported that the number of employed teens has rapidly dropped since 60 years ago. The amount of people from the age, 16 to 19 who held either part or full time jobs was around 40% about 60 years ago. In fact, in the percentage in 2000 was relatively high, 45%. By early 2008, teen employment dropped by more than 1.5 million! The problem is that more and more older people started to crowd out the work force, specially in these hard times. With fewer jobs to go around, teenagers lost many of their regular jobs to adults.

I am going to do my current event on some recent findings about an old event. Im sure that you remember the fort hood shooting thast occured a couple weeks ago. Well, it was recently released that the man accused of the shooting was almost not promoted. You may be asking yourself why this is signifigant. It is signifigant, because the reason there was some hesitation was that there was some suspicion about him being involved in terrorism. It was the lack of communication between the U.S. Army and a Terrorism Task Force that let this slip by. If they had been in communication, the deaths of these people could have been prevented. Now, I am not saying that this is entirely their fault, but someone dropped the ball, and should take part of the blame. It is truly a sad day when something like this could easily have been prevented.

For my current event i found a video about four new jersey students being arrested for threating things said on facebook. four students made comments on blowing up their school the other day. The didn't say they had bombs but they were talking about how they were going to open up the gass valves in the kitchen and strating a fire. Another student alerted school officials, and the four students were arrested. The school was evacuated and searched, but nothing was found. i think this pertains to me and my peers because even if you're kidding things like this are taken seriously. Today I want to my current event on a woman who had been suffering with pain for 2 and half years because of a car accident that smashed her wind pipe. For over two years there was nothing that doctors could do for this woman. She had to go on with life with severe pain and breathing troubles. Until Belgian surgeons windpipe from a dead man into her arm. The windpipe grew new tissue before being transplanted into her throat. The way doctors trained her body to accept donor tissue could change everything for people whose bodies don’t accept certain organs. This story was very interesting because my aunt has crones disease sense she was sixteen. Crones disease slowly eats away at your organs. Back when she was sixteen crones disease was so new so now there is no turning back for the disease. This new method of nurturing organs in the body before being transplanted could advance doctors so people like my aunt can actually have a fighting chance. There bodies are so weak that when this advancement becomes into something it can be so helpful to people with severe diseases.

I read the article "Tuberculosis patient flies despite being on banned list." I never really thought of airports needing to watch out for those with contagous diseses. Especially since everyones main worry is about terrorism. In this article it talks about how someone boarded a commercial airflight although having tuberculosis. The passanger was not named publicly. He/she flew from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to San Francisco, California. It's crazy to think about how one person could infect an entire country by just flying to a new country. This is going to effect me because I think that airports are not only goin to be more strict about terrorism, but also diseases. I don't nessarily think that's a bad thing because it's needed. It's worth the long lines and tough security if we remain safe. I think people should just be courtious to others by waiting until they are better before boarding an airplane.

For my current event, I'm choosing human trafficking in Mexico. Its such a scary thing to have happen and women and children are being targeted. The US estimates that 20,000 a year are trafficked across the border and sold into the sex industry. This is absolutely terrible and I can't even understand why anyone would want to do kidnap, drug, rape, and kill women and children to make money. Its scary to think about because it could happen to anyone, even someone I know. It makes me think of the movie Taken. It was all about a teenage girl who went to Paris in the summer, and how she was tricked and drugged to become a prostitute. Just one innocent mistake could've ended her life. It makes me realize that the world isn't always a safe place and to me careful and try to keep out of potentially dangerous situations.

Today for my current event im going to do the case of the H1N1 swine flu. There have been less cases of the swing flu, specifically in Nevada, there have been no new reported deaths caused from this strain. Since the public have been able to get their vaccinations, there have been fewer and fewer cases of the swine flu, people are becoming immune to this strain. In Nevada there have been 36 deaths caused from the swing flu, and over 3,400 cases of the swine flu overall. The health distric have recieved more than 157,000 doses of the vaccination. These doses will help make a big difference in fighting and overcomming the H1N1 swine flu. This effects me because i had the flu around octoberish and when i went in for a physical later, the doc told me that i mightve had swine flu, but they werent sure. If more vaccinations are being handed out to the public instead of just targeted people, than that will help combat the flu. It will help stop the spread of the virus and keep it from turning into a new strain, and killing or making more people sick.

Today I am going to talk about Britain to fight ruling on police searches. In Britain Human right groups are claiming that these searches are a breach of human rights. In Britain officers are aloud to stop anyone and search them needing no warrant or probable cause. The British government says it i a key point in helping fight terrorism. The laws are under review, but in till final ruling the laws are still present. I feel like these laws are an invasion of privacy. Im all for fighting terrorism but I feel like these laws are a little ridiculous. I would be very offended if I was pulled out from the side of the street and searched for no reason. I know they are trying to help and keep people safe but they also have to respect peoples privacy. So I picked that current event to show how serious people are getting about the war on terrorism and how it is effecting peoples every days life.

On a positive note, Home sales in Detroit have sprang up in the last few months. We all know that 2009 was a horrible year for economy. The fact that home sales are increasing is a great thing for michigan. The more money that people put into our econamy the better it will get. Not only are sales rising but home values are increasing. This is a really good thing for Michigan. This means that things are looking up and we can be hopeful of a good economy again within the next few years. This is a very positive thing for us and we should all hope for it to keep up.

Tuesday in a shooting at a Penske truck rental business in suburban Atlanta two people were killed and three wounded. The gunman in question is suspected to be an ex-employee of the company. The shooter was dressed in camouflage and fled the scene in a pickup truck. Police were alerted to the vehicle by a witness, and later stopped and arrested the suspect without incident about a mile away.
Obviously this man must have some mental issues. Since he shot at people that he might have known proves that something is wrong. It is hard to understand why he did this. There is no protection from these type of people because they seem normal until they snap.
Recently, Senator Kennedy passed away. While the democrats wanted to appoint a replacement right away. However, the Republicans did not agree with that, and they are holding an election. This election is to take place next tuesday. Scott Brown, backed by Rudolph Giuliani, is the Republican candidate. In my opinion, this race is crucial to the decision abouyt the health care bill. We all know about Obamas socialized medicine plan, but I think it is only going to destroy the country even more. With that being said, if the Democratic candidate gets elected, I think it will seal the deal for the Health care bill, which would be bad. However, if the Republican candidate is elected, I think it won't pass. But that's just my opinion. This is all due to the change in the number of seats per party in the Senate. (The Dems think they're smarter than all the people they represent, and they know what's best for everyone, which is idiotic.) It is hard to think that all of it will probably come down to this small election. It will effect all of us in the long run, depending on weather the bill is passed or not. Let's hope it is not.

Federal agents are investigating a recent occurances of illegal wolf killings across northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan's.
There were 16 killings in the months of November and December alone.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is looking for help in the people to search for the killers so that they may be convicted.
Six wolves were killed in the U.P., eight in Wisconsin and two in Minnesota. Wolf populations have rebounded over the last 30 years, but the gray wolf remains under protection of the federal Endangered Species Act. According to the Michigan DNR, in a period of 20 years, the number of wolves in Michigan has increased from 2 to 580 wolves. For the past 12 years, the wolf population has gone up every year.
I believe that keeping the environment natural and green makes a community prosper. The killing of endangered species is a growing crime. These animals are being killed for their fur and other parts of their body humans take for pleasure. I personally think it's disgusting. I'm taking APES and after learning more about environmental sciences and watching various videos pertaining to how humans distrupt earth's natural environment I don't eat meat as much. I'm not totally a vegetarian but I will choose something green before something that was once living. I think that more than ever our world needs to think more about the envirnoment than themselves because in time doing this will benefit us. We can all help by doing almost efforless tasks such as not leaving the water running when we brush our teeth or not turing all the lights on in our house. Our world is running out of resources and we need to realize it.

A passanger on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 said something smells like smoke and got up to look. Row 19 burst into flames, they grabed the man sitting in the seat while the flight attendant grabed the fire exstinguisher.Haskell said he didnt know if he was seeing a terrorist attack or an freak accident.Later on they found out that the man was trying to bring down the airliner with explosives in his underwear. I thinkk those people were lucky that it didnt blow up the plane. Im sure alot of families were very worried that day. This made everybody be more aware of everything around them. The security at air ports were tramendous after this happened.

For my current even I am writing about a Detroit suburb that is comming together to deal with the crime in their neighborhood. The Jefferson-Chalmers homeowners association is demanding that the City of Detroit build a precinct in their subdavision. They said that there are tired of the costant breakins and gunfire that is happenning to them. They feel that if a police station is build near them the crime rate will go down. I think this homeowners association is talking crazy. I think that because the City of Detroit has no money to build another precinct. They don't have the money because "their" Kwame stole it all from them and they were too stupid to realize it. Another reason their demands will not be met is because even if they did build a police station they don't have enough police officers to run the new station.

Tonight for my blog i'm going to write about the Detroit bomber.the would be bombers name is Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.he was flying into Detroit on Christmas day with no coat.Umar was coming from Amsterdam.it was said he was trying to destroy northwest airlines flight 253.the flight was carrying over three hundred passengers.he planed on destroying the light by putting chemicals into a package which was in his underwear.it was also said his pants began to smoke and catch fire.he was detained by the air marshals. This relates to me and my community because this happened really close to where i live. Also, it could of happened anywhere. Anyone could of been hurt or killed.

Everyday heroes last line of defense in terror fight, is what im doing my current event on. Kurt Haskell's eyes were locked on the seatback monitor in front of him when the words of a passing flight attendant caught his attention.
she said "something smells like smoke." Row 19 bursted into flames. The people on the plane didnt know if it was an attack or just a freak accident. The suspect, later identified as Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab, allegedly tried to bring down the airliner with explosives concealed in his underwear. Some people will do anything to hurt others. We just gotta watch out more for those people.

My current event is about Barrack Obama asking the government for more money. Obama plans to ask congress for $33 billion in emergency war funding for a buildup in Afghanistan this year. The money is mainly for the deployment of 30,000 troops going to Afghanistan this year. War costs in Afghanistan and Iraq already costs $660 billion. The money asked my Obama would push that total to $693 billion. The budget for 2011 will begin on October 1st and will be expected to be released on February 1st. Overall I think that this could benefit our society but i still don’t think that this is a good idea.

Today I would like to enlighten a family tragedy that happened pretty close to home for us. Clinton Township was the scene of DeAngelo Tobia's murder. He was only 4 years old, and his parents were devastated. You will never guess the person being charged for his murder though; his grandmother. The 60 year old grandmother showed no emotion in the court room, while many other family members could not contain their grief. She was said to have been a mental patient though. Police say she made contradictory statements and confessions about what happened to DeAngelo. This current event just shocks me because it is a grandmother killing, for one, and her own grandson at that! When you think of grandmas and grandpas, you think of the nicest people that are willing to do anything especially for their grandchildren. This just scares me that an old lady, actually killed her own grandson. I just never thought that a grandma could do such a thing, to her own grandson???

Think T.V. is fake?? Television programs like C.S.I. and Cold Case turn out to be not so fake. Recently in Miami Florida, A former Playboy model was found dead in a trash can near a propane business. The body of the woman was so disfigured and burnt that police could not even distinguish the race of the suspect. Later the police identified the woman by her dental records as 26 year old Paula Sladewski a former Playboy model. However the killer is still on the loose. Crime investigaters continue to search for more clues. Police say that the killer must be nothing less then a monster. It is scary to see that the crazy stuff seen on T.V. is done in real life. It is also crazy to know that whoever did this has such a sick twisted mind. This brings us back to a topic we have talked about before about how you are either born evil or evil is put upon them. Whatever the anwser is, this is for sure the man or women who did this terrible deed should be brought to justice.

Today, on the ABC News website, a very interesting story was posted. It was in reference to something that had happened last April. On a lady's first night working as a 911 Dispatcher, she received a startling call - one that she would remember for a long lifetime. A man called 911 because his wife was bleeding profusely. It came to the startling realization that his wife was going into labor. Both the husband and wife were surprised by this, as they had not known that she was pregnant. The dispatcher worked in a calm, cool manner, and was able to lead the husband and wife through the birth of their baby. This kind of thing is something that no one would expect. It could happen to anybody, and it has happened many times before (however, with the idea that the lady is pregnant). What that dispatcher did was amazing. This is the kind of person that local departments should look for when hiring somebody for a position like hers.

For my current event I have chosen the cyber attack on Google in China. Google said they would shut down their chinese language Google site, google.cn, if the chinese people did not stop hacking the site. Representatives of Google said that human rights activists using its Gmail service and dozens of companies hack the site. The U.S. urges China to comply with Google. The U.S. wants the CHinese to comply because google helps companies doing business in China. I think that if Google shuts down its google.cn site that the U.S. would fall into an even greater depression. I think that because when we make a great product and sell it in China, we make alot of money due to the population.

The area of Morehead City, North Carolina, has been evacuated as a percaution of expolsives. There was no reports of anyone getting injured or killed. Apparently, there was punctured containers carrying extremly explovsive material found. It was a material used in military amunition and industrial explosions. In fact, it was the same substance found on the Nigerian man, landing in Detroit, on Christmas day. Supposedly, it was just from a fork lift operator, who accidentaly punctured a single container. This isn't anything too serious and wasn't so much to freak out about, but ti was good that percautions were still made. This just seems ironic to me, that it was the same material as on Christmas day, in Detroit. It is also good that it is brought to the attention of people in America that this type of material can be present on people and be harmful.

Jobs have been declining fast ever since the recession started. Lately things have been starting to get better, but there are some jobs that we may never see again. Since 2007 the U.S. has lost around 7.2 million jobs, this has pushed the jobless rate from 5% to 10%. They are saying that jobs like some in the housing and credit markets will most likely never be seen again. People who have gotten a college degree should not expect too find as many high paying jobs as they would have 3 to 4 years ago and people who did not go to college are pretty much...screwed. This is not good for the younger people in todays economy. Lets hope it gets beter soon.

Today i read about an 11 year old boy who was behind the wheel of a car that caused an accidents and killed him, his mother and his sister. I think that this is an important artical because its crazy to think that a mother would let her kid drive a dar at that young of an age. At age your to young to understand what any traffic sign or rule is. I just got my lisence about a year ago and im still learning every day what kind drivers are out there. Driving can be scary, and iv been driving for a while now. That kid has no idea how to drive. And if get scared driving sometimes, how would he handle that kind of situation at eleven.
I had a hard time choosing between two events and i really didnt want to pick, but i did...For my current event i am going to blog about the snowmobile accident on White Lake sunday night. Four buddies headed of onto White Lake that night. The boys were having a good time, until, an electrical malfunction caused the headlight to go out on 21 year old Joseph Michael Richman's Polaris snowmobile. As he drove across the lake, south of Ormond Road and near the White Lake Inn, at 8:15 p.m. It was very dark and they were going high speeds. His 20year old friend, Casey James Leavenworth, who was riding another Polaris snowmobile, turned around and headed north to try to find him. As they were trying to find eachother to help, they collided head on. With the high speeds and no headlights both of the boys were killed. Joesph Richman was from Milford and Casey Leavenworth was from Highland.
Both were wearing helmets, and it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, although they dont believe they were under the influence. This is such a sad story and its so close to home. Ive been on White Lake before and also alot of my friends knew these young men. I know their families must be going through an extremely tough time. I have a snowmobile at home and also ride it on my lake with friends. I never thought something so tradgic could happen, never even occurred to me besides falling through the ice. Its weird how fast things can change and turn your life around. I feel for their families and wish them the best.

In current news, cheap children's jewelry can contain large amounts of lead and cadmium. The problem with this is that Cadmium and Lead con hinder child brain development and cause many problematic brain developments as the children grow up. A couple of years ago China had placed toys into the market with high amounts of heavy metal pains, Lead and Cadmium, and those toys were recalled. Little did people know that not only did children's toys contain lead but also their jewelry contains it.
This affects me because I have a lot of younger family members that find it cool to wear jewelry. I think that with the problem at hand the products should be taken off the market, because I don't want my cousins to grow up retarded and have future problems. If America doesn't take these items off the market we could have a large amount of future Americans that are retarded and not able to function within society.
Today I thought I would do a positive urrent event. It is often said that Ameicans are fat. People say that we are fat and only getting fatter. Well that statement is false because it is proven that we are fat but we are not getting worse. Sixty Eight percent of Americans are obese, which is bad, but that number has not gone up in the last ten years. Obesity kills millions every year and you have to be careful. I often am thankful that I get so much exercise so I can eat whatever I want but I have to be careful as I grow up. I want to remain healthy.

My computer has been down.
My current even for today will be about how Obama pledges 100 million dollars in aid for the Haiti disaster. This is a nice deed Obama is doing for another country. But on the other hand you have to look at the struggling families we have in our country. Why can't Obabma use that money to help us? I have a middle class family but like everyone else we are struggling. It would be nice to not always have our countries. But for once to look at our country and make an effort to help us out.

The current event I pick is the cocain found at NASA. They found a little bit of this illegal substance in the hangar that houses the space shuttle Discovery. NASA is now drug testing and iterveiwing people to find out how it got there. I chose this event because the idea of sending someone to space while there under the influence is scary. Anything could happen or go wrong just because they decided to be stupid. Also it could have killed a lot of people if they just wired something wrong or made a little mistake. I've seen a lot of people under the influence and there is no way i would trust then to fly into space.
