My current event is on the Washington DC sniper being executed. During 3 weeks in October 2002 John Allen Muhammad & his 17 year old accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo (then 17), killed 10 people & wounded 3 others. Muhammad & Lee placed many calls, messages, and threats to the police. They taunted the police during that time. Muhammad was excecuted last night at 9:11 pm. He made no last statement or did not offer any apologies to the victims families. Muhammad showed no remorse at all for the killings. I wonder what makes somebody do these horrible things and not even feel bad. What has caused this man to be so cold blooded. My great-grandpa was killed many years ago during a robbery (he was killed with a tire iron). That person served his time in prison and was released. There is much controversy over the death penalty. I'm not sure if I believe in the deatlh penalty, but I don't believe my grandpa's killer should have ever been released from prison.

For my current event I would like to talk about how AIDS is the leading cause of death in certain women. In a study of women's health around the globe, the World Health Organization said Monday that the AIDS virus is the leading cause of death and disease among women between the ages of 15 and 44. The WHO said that unsafe sex is the leading risk factor in developing countries for these women of childbearing age. With others it is due to lack of access to contraceptives and iron deficiency. This event can affect my personal life. When I was reading this article what stuck out to me the most was that I am in the age group of this statistic. This affects my community because many of the women in my community fall into the age group. After reading this article I am sort of worried about my friends and neighbors who fall into this statistc. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them. I think that women should be more careful and get more knowledge on contraceptives.

Today my current event is about a group of miners who damaged a part of the great wall of china. 100 meters was severely damaged by a gold mining company and is irreparable. The area of damage dates from the Qin Dynasty in 221 BC. This effects the world because a part of our history is gone. Information from that area of the Great Wall of China is now no longer available to historians, which means they can no longer learn from this part of architecture. This makes me think of all the historical artifacts that have been lost that we never knew about. We could be missing very important information about our history. It just goes to show that you need to be really careful when working with historical artifacts, such as the great wall of china. I don't know what the mining company was thinking when they were working so close to the great wall of china and did not consider it when they were working. If this company is fined, they could be spending up to ten years in prison. There are very strict laws in China concerning the preservation of the Great Wall of China.

Five men in the same family were recently charged with sex crimes against children. They were allegedly raping and sexually harassing an eleven year old girl along with a handful of other sexual crimes of this nature. Personally, I beleive that this is absolutely disgusting. Now even though this happened in Missiouri, its still something that happens daily all over the world. This type of thing has happened in Michigan, along with every state in America. I think these men should be thrown in jail to rot for the rest of their lives. Can you imagine how emotionally scarred victims of this type of crime must be after it happens. After something like this happens, especially to an eleven year old girl, the victim would have to go through years and years of therapy, and it may never be fixed. That little girl is never going to be able to look at a man the same way again. She will never be able to have a relationship, she will have major trust issues. This is the most disgusting thing somebody could ever do in my opinion. How pissed would you be if it was your daughter or sister who went through this? The family of these five men are the ones who are going to have to suffer for these men's actions to. Like I said this is the most disgusting crime and I think it is one of/if not the worst crimes a human can commit. I hate to say it, but maybe the death penalty is in order for a crime like this.

My current event is on office shootings in general. There seems to be an increase of these events. In Tualatin, Oregon, a man walked into his wife's place of employment and shot and killed her, shot two of her co-workers, then shot himself. And in Orlando, Florida, another person walked into his place of employment and shot five of his co-workers. I don't understand those type of people. They always seem like nice people on the job then one day they just shoot people. But I guess if people weren't jackasses, everyone would get along. If people got along there wouldn't be any need of violence.

Over a period of threee weeks in October of 2002 a man by the name of John Allen Muhammad went on a sniping rampage throughout Washington DC and killed 10 people. The killings are believed to be random and were extremely violent. Yesterday night at 9:11 pm he was pronounced as dead from injection. He was sentanced to death because of these horrible shootings, and 7 years and 12 days after being sentanced he was finally given the death penalty. Many people believe that the death penalty is too harsh of a punishment but now that the crime rate is higher today, why dont we execute the people who have taken another mans life? Lately prisons have been filling up quickly and there is not enough room for incoming prisoners and i believe that if you are already in jail for murder then you should be given the death penalty. Its not that i want to take a mans life but you have to in another sense if you have taken a persons life away from them and their family then you should die yourself.

The current event I chose for today is the famous German soccer player committing suicide. He jumped in front of a train yesterday and left a suicide note for his wife. She says he had been fighting depression for almost 6 years but had been keeping it hidden from the public. Their daughter died in 2006 from a heart condition and they adopted another girl about 6 months ago. I think the suicide is a really sad thing to have happen, as well as selfish on his part. It is terrible for all the people he left behind like his wife and daughter. I can't even imagine how his wife will deal with this, especially after losing one of her children a few years ago. This is a current event because things like this are happening all over the world. People feel so hopeless that they think killing themselves will solve all their problems because things just seem like tooo much to deal with. I disagree with this strongly because it is a really dumb thing to do. It just causes hurt for everyone around and its just sad. Depression is a big factor in this and that is something that is very widespread in our world today.

For my current event I found an article about the lady who was attacked by her friend’s chimp. About a year ago Charla Nash was attacked by a 200-pound chimpanzee. She recently revealed her heavily disfigured face on television, saying she is blind and has to eat through a straw, but isn't angry. Oprah Winfrey removed Nash's hat and veil to reveal her face, which was swollen and damaged beyond recognition. She had a large scar near the bottom of her face and a large piece of skin where her nose had been. The Feb. 16 attack occurred when the animal's owner, Sandra Herold, asked Nash, her friend and employee, to help lure the animal back into her house in Stamford, Conn. The chimpanzee ripped off Nash's hands, nose, lips and eyelids. Police shot and killed the animal. Nash has been hospitalized since. She remains in stable condition at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. This relates to pretty much anyone who has a pet. Whether it be a dog, cat, or something exotic like a chimp. Animal can just turn on you for no reason. That’s why you always have to be careful with your pets. All animals seem nice, you could have it for a year maybe longer, and in a day it could be trying to bite you. Or in this case rip your hands and nose off.

For my current event, i have chosen to talk about an article i came accross about an unfirmiliar stench that has been iritating neighbors in an ohio subdivision. The home in which carries the scent belongs to a suspected serial killer. The scent returned stronger than ever Wednesday as police searched the house next door for more bodies. The house belongs to Anthony Sowell's, who has been charged with five counts of aggrivated murder. The police are not sure but ave been looking hard for other bosies as the stench continues to grow. One neighbor states how the atmosphere smells like a scent of death.

I persoanlly look at this case with asstonishment. i just can not believe that even today, people still feel the need to just go on rampages and kill others. As i continue hearing these things, i get very nervous knowing that there are still people out there that do this. Yet, my biggest fear, is that this killer was located one state over from us in the neiboring ohio.

Since today is Veterans Day, my current event is going to relate to that topic. Communties all over the United States are honoring all the Veterans, as well as the men who lost their lives fighthing for our country. There are gatherings being held at cemetaries, churches, and even parks. Tonight in Canton township, there is going to be a "Salute to Service" ceremony. This ceremony include Michigan Military moms, and others who would like to help, collect items and donations to send to service men and women who are serving overseas. I think that it is a very good way of honoring those brave people. The veterans and the people currently serving deserve Americans to appreaciate them, and that's what is going on today in America today.

Today I read "Report: Man found guilty of killing Arkansas TV anchor" on CNN. This tells that the jury finally found Curtis Lavelle Vance guilty for killing Anne Pressly. Pressly was a television news anchor in Arkansaw. She was found beaten and unconsious in her home and died a couple days later. Vance was conviced for multiple things such as capital murder, residential burglary, rape and theft of property. Why this article stood out to me is that Vance has the possiblility of facing the death penalty. I used to not believe in the death penalty, however, as life goes on I realized that if they murder people, why shouldn't they deserve the same fate. I'm not saying Vance inperticular should get the death penalty but I do think all states should have the death penalty. It should only be used on the people who are extremely evil though.

For my current event I will talk about the growing economic crisis in the U.S. . In the united states there are 9 states that are heading into an economic crisis,Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. With the economic problems we could be seeing increased taxes, more kids in out classes, and fewer public services, and accelerated layoffs. This affects me because my mom could get laid off and we wouldn't be able to afford to live in white lake and we would have to move. Also we will have increased taxes, and everybody hates taxes and everybody doesn't want to pay for them. Now this also affects everyone in our school, if more kids come into our classes and we cant afford to pay for books then we will have kids that are not getting a full education or making it harder for them to learn in school because they wont have the right materials. I think that this will affect us the most because if future generations do not have the proper education needed to compete with foreigners then we wont have a very bright America to look forward to.

i was looking for something to blog about when i came across this man who had 1.5 pounds of metal removed from his stomach. I just thought it was nasty and clicked on it. I guess he ate the metal just because. It didn’t really say but he ate 17 nails in February. I thought it was really nasty. Lol the doctors said they weren’t surprised when they found a hole in his stomach. He joked around after getting it removed and said the doctors called him hardware store.

for my current event i would like to talk about medical marijuana. The AMA has urged the federal government to loosen its hold on the drug by reconsidering the classification of marijuana. Currently the classification of marijuana is that of a dangerous drug that has no medical use. However, it has been shown to help many people who are suffering and nothing else helps them. These are not people who are criminals or addicted. These are people who have cancer, maybe dying, and are in serious pain. The boost by the AMA is in response to President Obama’s administration speeding up a new policy based on no longer prosecuting those who use medical marijuana or the suppliers. Polls have shown that there is support for the legalization of cannabis (marijuana).

I totaly belive that marijuana should be legalized. If doctors can perscribe it how can it be bad for you?

I know its not what it used to be but its a start. I think the economy is important to all of us because it is our future. I dont know about everyone else but I want a good job when i get older. I think the dow and the economy have a big impact on that. We have to be positive and hope this upward spiral contiunes. I have a good feeling it will. Hopefully obama does a good job.

Today, for my current event i chose German goalkeeper kills self by stepping in front of train, police say. A goalkeeper for the German national soccer team apparently killed himself by stepping in front of a train, just months after he and his wife adopted a daughter, police said Wednesday. Robert Enke, 32, was captain of the German top-division soccer club Hannover 96 and had played in eight games for his national team. He was widely expected to be the German team's keeper in the 2010 World Cup. Enke died about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday. His wife Teresa said he left a suicide note. She said her husband had been battling depression for six years but had kept his condition from the public. This realtes to my life because it breaks my heart that someone can hate their life so much that they want to end it. There is always a way to resolve a problem. If he knew he was deppressed, then he should of asked for help and got treated for it. There is always a way to avoid a suicide.

For my current event tonight I'm going to do it about a polygamist sect member arrested for sexually assaulting an underage girl last year. Raymond Jessop was found guilty last week of assaulting a girl under 17. He got sentenced 10 years in prison and now has to pay an $8,000 fine. Jessop belongs to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though he was a member of a church it comes to show that you really can't trust everyone. No matter who it is it isn't right to do that to anyone. It seems like more and more people are getting sexually assaulted and physicaly assaulted now a days. It definitly has a huge effect on the world today, and seems like it is always happening. No one can really stop it from happening. Its dumb and people who do it should be ashamed of themshevles.

For my current event I would like to talk about something that anyone who is interested in sports or athletes might want to hear. Corey and Paul Simpson of Tampa, Florida, both professional athletes and trainers that currently work with professional football and baseball players and boxers, were hired to test a new revolutionary product to the world of body building. It is an eggplant extract that has similar results to steroids, except it is safe and legal! Also, steroids simply inflate the muscles. This product just makes muscle GROWTH occur faster. So it is perminate
growth rather than just inflation. Hearing of this new product excited me because I am very into working out and trying to keep in shape. Most of all though, I want to get huge for my senior year of football. This is something that could possibly help me towards my goal. I mean, steroids are very controversial because of their bad effects, and the legality of them, but who wouldnt want to have this product?! A legal, safe, no side effect steroid-like muscle enhancement. Sounds great to me.

For my current event I fell like talking about the D.C sniper. Last night he was pronounced dead at 9:11 pm. He was one of the two men that were behind the murder of 10 innocent people. He was executed by lethal injection. After years of denied appeals he was sentanced to deatd. I feel that justice was not served because his 17 year old partner (at the time) just got life in prinsion. As Muhammad entered the death chamber we acted as if he had no remorse for the things that he did. I felt that Lee Boyd Malvo, Muhammad' partner in crime should get the same sentence because neither one of them could have done this without the other. They are both equally guilty. Getting life in prision is not a effictive punishment for his crime. Also it is a waste of taxpayers' money. Paying for someone in prision for the rest of their life is a burden on a taxpayer. I wish all sates were more like Texas when it comes to using the death penalty. As you can tell, I'm a firm believer in using the death penalty.

My current event is about how the schools are getting more money, but with strict ways of using it. Over the past couple of years schools have been losing so much money because of the economy. They are giving another $11.5 million dollars. They are demanding tougher academic standards, better ways to recruit and keep effective teachers, a method of tracking student performance and a plan of action to turn around failing schools. I agree fully with how the government taking control over how the schools control their use of money. Their isnt a lot of moeny going around thru the country and its a good idea to keep track of how their using their money. Because they shouldnt be using it on what really isnt needed.

My current event I would like to talk about is the Fort Hood shooting of american soldiers. The shooter was Nidal Malik Hasan an officer in the army. The army is known to be strict and kick people out if they are uncertain of them (says the article) but Hasan should have been gone a long time ago. Now I dont want to seem racist becasue I am not, but a man of his culture should be evaluated strongly due to the war being in those areas. To prove he should have been evaluated the article states that he was known for trying to reach out to people associated with Al Qaeda. Also before he began shooting he said, "Allahu akbar" which means God is Great in Arabic. This phrase is used by islamic terrorists. Our army protects us against these terrorist. We are fighting in iraq and afghanistan, yet we put one of thier men in our army? It scares me that the government allowed a terrorist in our army, recieved red flags over the years, and ignored them. I know not all people of this culture are not terrorists. Some are completly american citizens and are just like us. This does not mean all of them are okay, and if they want to be in a government job, they should be strongly evaluated.

I have herd of some really nasty things in the past. One of them being the guy who put all those dead dogs in freezers cause he didn’t know what to do with them. Although this story that I found today disgust me the most. This man in Russia named Sergey Gavrilov dicided to eat his mom. He was out gambaling and buying vodka and spent all of his money, so he came home to his moms house to beg her for money. When she wouldn’t give him her money he killed her by sohpicated her and then hitting her in the head with a brick. After that he left for a couple days with her money and went on a vodka and gambaling binge. When he came home he was hungry and had no money, so he decided to eat his mom. Poilice investigated the crime after they tracked Gavrilov down bause they thought he stoll a cell phone. This all is horrible, he is so gross and completely out of his mind, due to the fact that he ate his own mother. Get this, he only goes to jail for 14 years and three months! He shouldn’t even be alive. Personally, I would never kill, let alonoe eat my mom. I think peole who kill others are horrible people. I don’t understand who could hate someone so much were they would have to kill them.

the current even i have chosen to write about is malnutrition in many children. A recent study has shown that malnutrition is not only killing many children it is stunting their growth. nearly 200 million children under five in poor countries are lacking nutrition which is stunting their growth. 90 percent of those children live in Africa or Asia. and more than a third of those children deaths will be linked to malnutrition. This honestly just pisses me off. i hate how we live in a country that has people dying because of how fat they are, and we cant help those with little nutrition. something doesn't seem right if a part of the world is dying from eating too much and the other is dying from eating to little. there is something indescribably corrupt about that.

Are some schools taking the zero tolerance rule too far? In Chicago a group of middle school kids were arrested for taking part in a food fight in a cafeteria. They literally were handcuffed and taken to jail and charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct. 11 to 13 year olds now have criminal records and have to attend court just for throwing carrots. Ever since the columbine shooting schools are treating minor infractions the same as major violations. I think that schools are taking things way out of hands “trying to prepare us for real world discipline.” Not only did those children get in trouble with the law, they were suspended from school. Schools need to get their shit straightened out and decides what’s Fairley punishable by law or just a simple detention.

Today I will be talking about the shoplifting spree because of the recession. In the past year shoplifting has rose 6%. Roughly $115 billion has been stolen from businesses everywhere. Most of these people shoplifting are middle class citizens. The U.S had the biggest jump of shoplifting which was by 8.1%. The U.S also topped the chart with $46 billion. With this being said shoplifting is on the rise year by year. This affects me because local businesses are getting less and less income due to the recession and shoplifting.

For my current event, i want to talk about the unbelievable courage and optimism displayed by Charla Nash today. 9 months ago, Charla Nash was visiously mauled by a 200 pound chimp which belonged to her boss. This animal took off nearly her entire face and both hamds, leaving her behind looking like she had "gone through a meat grinder". She is thankful that she has no memory of the trajic and horiffic event, but the evidence is most definatly there. She has survived fore the past year in constant care of a hospital and has undergon numerous face transplants. The true mirical of this story is not that she survived, but her astonishing will to live, and her unbelievably posotive attitude. She gave her first interview since the attack on the Oprah show today, and she made the desicion to show her face here, rather than have it shown by a tabloid. The image is disturbing, and makes you wonder how this torn and broken woman can go on living life. She has a very posotive attitude, to say the least. she is determined to emotionaly heal from the event, and move on. She knows that this will be imposible unless she can accept her new form as it is, and proudly show the world what she has survived. This woman has shown an huge amount of courage, and i sort of look up to her. She has sccepted what has become of her, and deels with what she was givin, which im not really sure i could do. Her incredible will to live has inspired me and has really made me think about what my life means to me.

Today around 2:30 a.m. a man was struck by vehicles and died. However, these vehicles were not just ordinary cars. They were driven Secret Service officers. The officers were travelling from Andrews Air Force Base to Washington when they hit the man at an intersection of Suitland Parkway and Naylor Road in Temple Hills, Maryland. The men immediately stopped to help the man, but he was pronounced dead on the spot. This goes to show how anybody is not immortal. I'm not talking about the man, I'm talking of the officers. They are not very commonly the cause of tragedies so many people would never suspect them of doing something like this. Therefore, they are mortal to the fact that they can cause horrific events too. No one is exempt from these kinds of things. So, it goes to show that even though any officer is out to protect you, you may not be completely safe, because everyone makes mistakes.

My current event is going to be about the Washington D.C. "Beltway sniper". Seven years ago John Allen Muhammad and his accomplice murder 10 and wounded 3. Last night family members of the people killed watched as Muhammad was executed. At 9:06 a series of lethal Drugs were injected into his body. Five minutes later, he was pronounced dead. Before he was executed he was asked if he had any last words, he didn't, they say he did not even show any sign of remorse. Many people are against the death penalty, some are for it, and then there are those in the middle. I am in the middle. In my opinion the death penalty should only be used if the person has commited murder. In this case I agree with the outcome. I don't think a man like this should even be aloud to walk on our streets. I don't know what causes people to do these things, to act so cold blooded.

In California, a Walgreens Pharmacy mislabeled and filled the wrong prescription for a five year old by mistake. She was supposed to get a flu medication, but instead she got a heart medication. This was not known until Walgreens called the family up and told them that the wrong prescription was filled. I can only hope that this little girl will be okay. I believe that Walgreens made a very terrible mistake. It's inexcusable. Very special care needs to be taken when a medication is prescribed and dispensed for a child. A young child's body is much more vulnerable than an adults. This kind of thing shouldn't happen, but it does. Negligence is the largest factor in this case. People need to be careful not to mistakenly do the wrong thing. It can be fatal.

Kimberly, an officer, has been hailed as a hero in the Fort Hood massacre. She described the scene as "confusing and chaotic". In the massacre she was shot, but she is recovering. It felt like "a muscle being torn out of my leg", said Kimberly. The other survivor, Sgt. Mark Todd, was not wounded. He said it was his first time using his weapon.

First off, the Fort Hood massacre was a tragedy. Thirteen people died for, what seems to be, no reason at all. The families of those dead are probably mortified by their deaths. God bless their souls.

We are celebrating the 234th birthday of the Marine Corps. Many Marine soldiers die everyday and we just act like its no big deak. The Veteran's day was created to remember and honor the people that die day to day so that you can sleep safely at night. This Veteran's day is not something that should be taken lightly. Make sure that when you celebrate Veteran's Day you celebrate that some of the soldiers are still alive not celebrating that people died for you. You are supposed to celebrate the people who have not lost their lives.

For my current event I chose to talk about a U.S. soldier found dead in the Afghanistan river. Military divers have found his body from when he went missing last week in a river in western Afghanistan. They believed he jumped in the river to try to save his fellow comrade, who is still missing. His family is devastated and claimed he jumped because in his heart he knew it was what he had to do. His family called him the "Unstoppable one". To me I think this man was very brave. You see all the people in the world and how selfish they can be. Then you have this young soldier who gives up his life, to try to save another. I think not only is his family proud, but everyone in the country. This shows how generous and caring people can really be.

"To all of them -- to our veterans, to the fallen and to their families -- there is no tribute, not commemoration, no praise that can truly match the magnitude of your service and your sacrifice," Today President Obama gave great tribute to veterans at the hallowed Arlington National Cemetery. I think that it is important to give thanks to all the men and women that have given their time and lives to defend this country. Many of the people who are in the army or have fought in the past dont get the regonition that they diserve. And when you give them the regonition that they diserve it makes them feel apperitated.

Louis DiLeo spends his days blowing the same song (taps). DiLeo is part of the National Guard he is a sole bugler for the in the southern region of New York's Military Forces Honor Guard. He spends 5 days a week going to cemeteries of deceased veterans and funerals playing taps. He said, "To come out everyday and play taps and say thank you is a very small price." There is a shortage of buglers because of the large number of funerals every day. It is approximated that there are 1800 World War II vets dying every day. So DiLeo contacted the military about bugling after he attended his godfather's funeral, where a recording of taps was played. He has made it his mission to eliminate recordings. Now he has played taps at 3000 funerals in three years and that number is still rising because he never plans on stopping. When DiLeo is playing he has said, "A lot of times, I have to close my eyes and just pay attention to what I'm doing and just think of it musically, because if I get too emotionally involved in it, I could get to the point where I couldn't play," DiLeo said.

Louis DiLeo is probably one of the most honorable men in the U.S. military. He has so much dedication to honor deceased men and woman of the military, he has done it without missing a day. To me, Taps would be one of the hardest things to play. Not only because I can not play the trumpet worth anything, but the emotions would prevent me from playing. He has played 3000 funerals in three years. He even did 26 funerals in one day! There was a time in our history that vets would get spit on when they came home from Vietnam. I am glad that these same men will have someone like Louis DiLeo playing for them when their time comes.

The current event I chose was the swine flu epidemic. Its now up to 4,000 deaths in the US only. Thats four times more then they expected. I chose this because this a scary thing. A lot of people are getting the swine flu. It makes it so real when the people around you are getting, like the kids in our classes, family and friends. When people around you and in your community are dying of something so common it can be really freaky.

For this evenings blog i would like to blog about the german soccer player who killed himself. Last night around 6:00 goalkeeper Robert Enke stepped out in front of a train in Germany. His wife said he had been battling depression for years and left a suicide note for her and there new adopted daughter. 32 year old Enke was a very well known keeper in Germany. He was keeper and caption for Germany's leading soccer club and was also expected to be keeper for Germany in the upcoming 2010 world cup. Many fans came to pay respect for the 32 year old keeper, laying flowers and candles in his memory. I think that this is a shame. For someone with this much talent to kill himself. I also think it is not fair for the daughter they recently adopted. She will now have to grow up knowing what happened to her new father. I also think that it is unfair to his wife who will know be forced to parent there daughter alone. I feel bad for the fans and the teammates of Enke and i hope his wife and family can recover positively.

While i was at work, i heard the news about a chimp attacking a women and she was speaking about her recovery. I didnt hear much because i was working, but i wanted to read more about it. Today Charla Nash went on Oprahs show to show her face for the first time. In New Haven, Connetticut Sandra Herold owned Travis a 14 year old, 200 pound chimpanzee nearly all its life. Nash and Herold were friends, Nash had told Sandra many times that the chimp was dangerous. On February 16th Herold asked Nash to help lure the chimpback into his house. The chimpanzee tore of Nash's hands, nose, lips and eyelids. The animal was shot & killed, while Nash was sent to a hospital. Nash was in for a tough recovery and just a couple weeks ago she was told she no longer had her eyes. Nash and her family are trying to press charges on the state and herold for the destruction from this animal. This is such an unbelievable story, and its sad to see how much your life could change so fast. In the blink of an eye something like this could happen to you, and your life is changed forever. I have no idea how i would handle this. Nash has such a positive attitude about this, and im sure i wouldnt.

This week I was astonished to hear about 17-year-old boy who survived one remarkable night. He survived 24 hours alone, stranded on a ice cap, drifting a flow in Canada's Hudson’s Bay. The teen not only fought the bitter cold air, but stranded along with him on the drifting ice floe was three polar bears. (And I thought I had bad luck) He was able to kill one of the polar bears in self-defense and luckily fended off the other two until a search and rescue flight finally found him. He became separated from his uncle when they walked back toward a settlement after their snowmobile broke down during a hunting trip. Remarkably, the youth is expected to make a full recovery after being treated in the hospital for hypothermia. This relates to my life because it blows me away that someone my age could survive in a situation as treacherous as he did. When I think I am having a bad night, I need to keep in mind what he had gone through in 24 hours. He was able to survive with little to no supplies stranded on a drifting ice cap with three polar bears! If he could stay positive during such a situation, maybe I should take what life hands me a little lighter.

My current event is about the 15 year old boy who was lit on fire. A group of boys poured alcohol on him and set him on fire. This all happened over him owing one of the boys $40, so one of the boys stole the victim, Micheal Brewers dad's bike. Brewer told the police and got the boy arrested, that is when the group set Brewer on fire, for being a snitch. The boys who range from 13-16 are all being charged as adults for 2nd degree murder. I think this was stupid. There are other ways to work out disagreements than setting someone on fire. I agree completely with the boys getting charged as adults, what they did was stupid and it could have killed Brewer, if he didn't jump in a pool near by. I don't get what the boys were thinking when they set him on fire. How could they have been so mad that they would want to kill him, their only like 15 years old. Just all around I think it was a stupid and immature stunt that the group of boys did and they deserve to be charged as adults and go to jail.

Arr Maytee, i would like to write on the Pirates who are in the Mediteranean. Recently many of you should know about how the Pirates held a naval mn hostage. As many though this was rare, it is becoming steadily more common. These pirates jumped on the 22 passenger ship, took over, and robbed it. I feel that these pirates shouldnt be called pirates. They dont have birds, or speak like a so called pirate. These people arre just ocean robbers. I somewhat feel it is almost like a disgruntled group with a serious sickness that theink they are pirates. I think that there needs to b people armed and on gaurd on all of these ships because they are coming more open to attacks.

The D.C. sniper was executed yesterday by lethal injection in a prison death chamber. He killed 10people and wounded another 3 during his rampage. He also taunted police with written messages and phoned-in threats and demands. He was announced dead at 9:11 pm yesterday. One of the victims family members said that they felt no closure from his execution. If someone in my family was a victim, I know I wouldnt feel closure just by him being executed. It wouldn't bring some that I cared about back. It wouldnt change a thing in my opinion. I would still be very sad and angry but I would not feel hardly any closure.

The call a firefighter never wants to get. A 15 year old kid calling screaming on the phone. You know right away, something isnt right. Michael Brewer had been set on fire. Brewer was attacked by five of his friends, who poured alcohol over him and set him on fire. To me thats not right. Friends dont do that. Messing around with fire is soooooooo dangerous, but yet kids think its funny to mess around with it.

There is a new State analysis declaring that there are many States in a bad economic state that could possibly spread across America. The top ten include: Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. Officials say that the economy is slowly pushing back into a recession. What affects me the most is what is going on in the State of Michigan. The officials believe that Michigan never climbed out of the recession that started in 2001. The state budget was dramaticly downsized because of the 2 major car companies going bankrupt. Many people all over the country, specificly in Michigan, have lost their jobs. In conclusion to this, a liberal research group says that these states need more federal money in order to make stop buget cuts and avoid looseing more jobs. Being a citizen of Michigan, I have to worry abouthow our economy is doing. My entire community relies on the economy for basicly everything nowadays, therefore we can not let it suffer.
