Tomorrow will be 2nd hour Social Studies- Chalkboard Football. 3rd hour you will be going to the Veterans Ceremony. Wednesday we will complete our god-a-thon. Also, do not forget that your essay/letter is due on Wednesday.
For this evening, think about the ideal of pride. We saw this a lot in The Iliad in regards to both Achilles and Hector. We will continue to see this when we read Oedipus. Read the following quote and then comment on what it means to you and how pride is or is not important to who you are as a person:
"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."

The quote above means a lot to me. I feel like what the quote is saying is really true in our world today. Its true that people don't always think before they act. People let their emotions get in the way of their logical thinking. Pride is important to me as a person. I think that a person should have pride in what they do. In my life I have pride in my karate. I know I can defend myself, and I show pride in that. Also, I have pride in my work at school. I have all A's and I also take pride in that. If you give a teacher a piece of crap to grade, there not going to give you a good grade. A person should want to show others their good qualities. People should care to an extent about what others think of them. I think that people should show pride in what they do and how they act. In conclusion, I feel that taking pride in what you do is very important and should be seen as an example to others.

This quote to me means Peoples actions are influenced by their emotions and what their beliefs are. How badly you want something and what you are willing to go through are fueled from vanity and pride. Pride is important to me because it reflects who you are as an individual. A person who has pride will do things to their best ability and will do things with quality. For example doing a long and strenuous project may take a toll on someone, but if the person takes the time to do it right and have quality in their work and are proud of what their finished product is, that person has pride. I try to have pride with whatever I do. Pride is something I believe everyone needs in order to be successfull.

I beleieve that this quote is telling the reader what he can expect in people and the fight he is going to have to put up in order to achieve victory. He is teling us that there are many people in the world and a good portion of them have much pride and believe that everything should be done to its fullest. It shall also be done were there person who did it has confidence in the final product.
Personally, pride comes very important to me. Though i do not choose to use it very often, i find that deep down inside i must always put everything into what i do. Even when it comes to sports, i do find pride in it and doing so i work my hardest. Same with school, but i find that i do not have or show enough pride in the work done in school.

I think that this quote is tru to some point. Not everyone is motivated by pride or vanity. Some people don't care what they look like or what people think of them and they are still successfull. But most people do care about what they look like and do have pride. I actually think its very important. If you dont have pride in your stuff and dont have pride in what you do then you it probably wont look very nice. Also vanity is very imporant. If the president didn't look nice and dress nice then he would never be elected. It's when people have too much pride and care too much about vanity that humans run into problems. We have to have the perfect balance.

To me, this quote means that people's actions are often based off their emotions rather than logic. Our prejudices and the power of pride and vanity influence our actions as well. To me and many others, this quote is true. I often find myself making decisions based off of my emotions, instead of thinking them through. Pride is very important to me. I try to have pride in everything I do. I work hard in school to get good grades so I can have pride in my work. I know when I do my best in school I feel a lot better than when I don't try. I also have pride in dance because I always try my best in each class and work to get better each year. When I don't have pride in my work it only hurts me because I am giving up the opportunity to be the best I can be. I think that having pride in myself is good because it makes me feel better about myself and about my work.
People have a tendenc to want to impress others. We where certain clothes, so people will think we are cool. We listen to certain musci because people will think it is cool. We watch certain clothes, because people think it is cool. The same relates to pride. You wanto to take pride in your work and other things, so you can impress others. For example, when you do a project in class. We all know that you can get away with doing the bare minimum and get a fairly decent grade. However, people go that extra mile, not for the grade, but so other people (or the teacher) will look at it and go "oh, thats cool". Pride, is doing something, going that extra mile, so that you can say im not just slacking off. Im doing this because i want to learn, or i want to help people. Its doing it for yourself, but at the same time, its sending a message to other people.
This quote means to me that people are led by their emotions and how situations affect them. People respond to how something personally affects them, not how they logically affect them. We often form opinions beforehand, without knowledge and act out based upon our prejudices. Motivation is usually fueled by our pride and our need to excel in life. Basically, we react before thinking things through. Pride is important to me because without it we lack the self-worth that we need to survive. Without taking pride in my work I would lack the drive to complete my goals and not be the best person I could be. Sometimes vanity gets in the way of pride, but I hope that it is in a good way. The merit of my work is important to me and I will continue to show pride in my work because that is what will make me who I am.

This quote means that if you take pride in what you are doing then people may see that you believe in what your fighting for and in return will give you respect. I personally believe pride is believing 100% in what your doing and not caring what anyone else has to say about it because in life its your opinion is what counts. Pride is very importent to me because i think it all goes back to what we talked about today with the whole "treat others the way you want to be treated" and if you take pride in everything that you do then people will respect you, and when you respect me i will respect you back. All i do is go to school and try my best, i have never disrespected anyone because thats not how i was raised and thats how i live life everyday.

I thoink the quote means the people nomatter who they are, everyone has pride and pride fuels our bustling and predjudicesness, i dont neccesarly agree with this, because im not predgeduss and i dont know wat butling means. pride is important to me. as a guy i have pride and i refuse to do certain things becausae of it and im competitive to so pride does infact effect my life
To me, this quote means that peoples actions arent always influenced by logic but by their emotions. This quote is very true, to me and to the rest of the society. People let their emotions get in the way of their logic. People dont think before they speak. Pride is very important in my life. If you dont have pride in your work or pride in yourself, then you arent going to go far in life. Although i dont have all As in school, i still take pride in the grades i have, and believe i deserve them because i tried my hardest. If i cheated my way to get all As, then i wouldnt have that pride in my grades. Having pride in myself, makes me feel like a better person and better about my work.
The quote "When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity" by Dale Carnegie to me means that in todays society people let their emotions get in the way of their thinking. This quote relates to me because i know for a fact when im emotional i dont think logicly and do irrational things. Peoples emotions influence everything they do. Another thing thats true is when it says that people are motivated by pride. If i excell in something most likely i take pride in it. People should take pride in everything they do, thats how you acomplish goals in life. Pride is important to me because if i didnt take pride in what i do i would be no where in life.
To me the quote by Carnegie means that people aren't perfect, and when they make a decision its based off of their emotions. This is very true in today's world, peoples decisions aren't usually based off logic, they are based off their emotions. People usually don't think of the logical thing to do in a situation, however they feel at that time is how they will react. Pride is a very important factor in my life. Whether I am at school or not at school, I try to have pride in everything I do. At school I try my best on everything I do. On things out of school such as hockey or poms, I try my best at practice every night. Or during games I give all that I have each shift so I cant come off the ice wishing I would have tried harder.

The quote by Dale Carnegie means that peoples emotions effect what they do and how they think. To me, I can both disagree and agree with it. Everybody has emotions and it is driven by something, but not always pride and vanity. Peoples emotions can cover up the logic behind it all because of what they are feeling right then, but not always what really matters. Pride has a tole on how you are as a person. It is important, but it doesn't define you completely. Pride isn't who you are, but it is one of the many tihngs that you have.
This quote has a deep meaning to me. I feel it is true in every way. People, whether in real life or in movies, don't always think before they act. They act based on what they are feeling. People's emotions cloud their judgement. Pride is important to most people, including me. I take pride in my work and in my religion. I'm glad to be a son of God and I take pride in that. I also take pride in my schoolwork. I do my best in school so I can do better in life.

This quote means that we are all human and we all have emotion, and are decisions and the choices we make are sometimes based on our emotion. Not everything we do or say is logical. Sometimes we let our emotions get in the way of our logic and say things we do or do not mean. I think pride is good to have. It gives you a boost of self confidence and makes you feel better about yourself. if you have no pride you are going to constantly feel like you are not good enough for society and you won't feel like you belong. Even though it is good to have pride, to much pride can seem like you're cocky or concieded. that you're perfect and you're good at everything. so yes, pride is important to have, but only a certain amount.
To me this means that we do not base our decisions on logic. Human beings are complex and must deal with emotions, pride, and prejudices. Our decisions are based off of these plus other contributers. We often do what is not the correct choice, but those that we believe will make us most happy. We also allow our pride and prejudices to cloud our judgement while making decisions. Pride is important to me because it allows me to make better decision. I will not make bad decisions that will hurt my pride in the end. It helps me make decisions that I should make. Sometimes I really want to make the wrong decision at the time, however, later I'm glad and thankful that my pride kept me from making that wrong decision.

What i think this quote is saying is that when interacting with another perosn you have to remmeber that that other person isnt a robot. They are just like you and have emotions. They react to certain things in certain ways and you have to deal with that. YOu cant really force something into another person. They have to be willing to accept it. Well pride is imporant and it isnt, in my life. When im on the tennis quart sometimes i may get made but i try to show respect to the other players and have pride for my school. Every coach that talks to Coach Beacome alwyas says how great our team acts and how clasey we are. I think that has to do with a big deal of pride for our school and the game of tennis. So pride plays a small roll in my life. Tennis isnt the only thing i have pride in. I also take some pride in my work at school.
Zack Ruffin
I think what this quote is saying is that emotions get in the way of logic. there is a right thing to do in almost all situations but a emotions get in the way of decision making. In many people emotions are mainly selfish. for example in the quote it says we are motivated by pride and vanity. Pride comes in where we selfishly do things to benefit ourselves even when the seem sefless. and vanity is when our insecurities over ride us doing things to make us seem more appealing. pride is important to me. i am proud when i do something well of accomplish something and sometimes it is selfish. thats why i think its important to not become to proud and let things go to your head.
When I read this quote I think of how I usually dont think before I act. Sometimes we dont use the most logical way to react to things. Most people are motivated by their emotions. Because a lot of people dont know exactly how to controll their emotions. I also think he is trying to tell us that we use pride and vanity everyday, to have pride in what we do. I think pride is a very important aspect in your everyday life. You have to have pride in what you do to respect your self and so on.
I think that this quote is very true in this world today. This quote is saying that people do things without thinking first. Alot of people in the world today act on their emotions and dont htink logically about it first. Pride is an important thing in my life. I try to take pride in everything i do, meaning i try to do my best at everything i do. I try to take pride in all of my work at school. I dont always do my best but most of the time i do. I think that everyone should try to take ride in everything they do. Pride is a good thing to practice especially in your school work.

To me the quote is fairly simple. Its saying that we are creatures of emotion, not logic. Basically, we act with our heart, not our head. I think this is very true of human beings. To often we act or speak with out logically thinking of what the outcome will be. As soon as something pops into our head we have to say it and we often hurt people that way. Pride is important to me. I take pride in myself and the things i do. If you dont have pride in what you do theres not really any point in doing it.
When reading this quote I felt like he was trying to say that people are ilogical and make irrational decisions without knowing that basis of what we are really doing. That we only think of ourselves and no one else unless there is a reward at hand. We think of pride as what we recieve when doing a good deed that probally wasn't that hard to begin with. But as humans our good deed is not complete until we are prazed. I believe that word vanity along side pride is the reward you are giving something people can precieve you as and know you by. To me pride is a big thing, it feels so good when people recognize for something and they can't help but praze you for it. Pride makes you a good person and I think without it as humans we don't try as hard when we don't take pride in who we are.

To me this quote means that when dealing with people, they arent all passive, they have their own ways of thinking and opinions. Dealing with people doesnt always work out, there are dissagreements. An example would be of the Iliad, when Achilles wont let Hector make a pact with him to make sure he gets a proper burial. Pride is very important to who i am as a person because it helps motivate me, and makes me do the things i do. Pride is a great thing to me motivated by because it helps push ourselves more and more. Pride is also important to me as a person because it helps me in sports, because if i dont do good, it definetly motivates me to push myself harder than ever to make sure my results in the next competition are a lot better than they were before.
"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."
Dale Carnegie
This quote above demonstrates something alive and well in our world today. I feel people dont use logic sometimes, and do things they wouldnt if they slowed down and though aboutit. We get carried away qwith our emotions, whether they are high or low. Pride is something important in my life. I am trying to take more pride in my school work and sports as always. Next, in our world today, predjudice still exists. I think that its rediculous since things happen from the way people are not their heritage. Lastly, i think that with this pride and predjujdice, people are opnly thinking about themselves with vanity. They are doing whatever they can to get fame, and money. There are many other motives that people use, but in the end we do whatever it takes, whether its against our morals or not to get power.
To me this qoute means that sometimes people, can let their emotions overrun their logic. An example of this would be when people do something before they actually think about it. Pride is important to me because I think it can give someone a sense of respect, and it shows how they work as an individual. Work is a good example of pride, I take pride in my work. If you do not try in school, or whatever you are doing, no one will take pride in your work. You will get what you deserved. If you do your own work, then you have earned the right to take pride in your work. So yes I think pride is an important thing for everybody to have.
i think this quote is saying that when you are dealing with a person, we aren’t always logical. That we are more emotional and we have opinions on many different things and we may not fully understand things we don’t see our way. This is important to me because people need to understand where the “other” person is coming from. They need to view it from their perspective. They need to realize that we aren’t always logic. Prid is also so important to me.
This quote simply means that people don't make their decisions based on logic a majority of the time. Instead they make them based on emotions or how they are feeling at the time (This is what liberals do-they 'feel' that somethings right and don't look at any facts or history). Nonetheless, a lot of the time people make decisions when they have prejudices and are angry or vain. For me, this quote is very true. I often decide things angrily if I am feeling or anfry or what ever emotion I am feelin I will make my decisions based on that. However, I can never take pride in myslef when I dop this. That is because deep down inside I know what I did is wrong. I just don't have enough self control to stop myself. For example, in my school work I try to do my best. However, there are thos times where I'll wait and do some homework the hour before it's due. There is no way I can take pride in that. I want to take pride in everything I do. Then I know I did the best I can do.
I think that this quote is saying that we as people are not robots. When i say this i mean that no two people are exactly alike. We all have certain traits and handle citations differently from one and other. We also believe in different things and are motivated in different ways. People also take and show pride in different ways. Pride plays a large part of my life. I take pride in things that i spend much time and effort on. I take pride in how i represent myself for the most part. I also take pride in how i do things in other words my work ethic. These are all things that i show pride in. But truly pride is a high opinion of ones own dignity.
Taylor Wattles
"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."
Dale Carnegie
The following quote means to me that emotion and pride shape a person not logical thinking. Pride is an important trait to have. If you can take pride in everything you do in life people will respect that. My dad always tells me to take pride in what i do. It doesn't matter what it is, just take pride and feel good with what you have accomplished. Pride can also relate to the Iliad in many ways. The way Hector shows pride to fight Achilles and not back down to fight him face to face. Hectors not only showing pride but courage and loyalty towards Troy.
I think this quote is very true in the sense that people are not always rational with the way that they think and act. People often let prejudices, past experiences, and their opinions get in the way of being logical and thinking through things. This affects pretty much everyone. I know that when I am dealing with my parents and they are yelling at me for something, it is so easy to just see my side of things and automatically assume that they're wrong and I'm right. My mind is completely closed off to their point of view. When some people get something in their heads, right or wrong, not a whole lot of things can change that. Often, people have too much pride to admit that they are wrong and don't want to risk their reputation because they are too worried about what other people think and always trying to be in the right. Pride is very important to me as a person and I have a lot of it. I think people should be proud of who they are and should do everything they can to be someone that they can be proud of being. Sometimes people can have too much pride and not accept help from other people or let their feelings get in the way. I hope I'm not like that and I'm doing everything I can to be a person of good character.
To me this quote to means peoples actions are influenced by their emotions and what they belive. How bad you want something and how far you are willing to push yourself comes from your emotion within and your pride. I dont think pride palys an important role in my life. Of course i am proude of myself and the things i do because i like to live with no regrets. But i dont take pride in any of my school work. i dont like to put most of my time into homework which in my mind is pointless. Like Ice Cube said"School aint tryin to educated us all they care about is what we memorize latly" and i belive that. But i am proud of who i am and no one can change that.
This quote is very true in our society today. People’s actions are based on emotion not logic. Most people don’t remember how different everyone is. Different people have different reactions to things and different opinions of everything. People today don’t see that everyone is different in one way or another. Everyone one has pride but they look at it in there own way. Pride to me is not that same as pride to someone else.
To me this quote is saying that people don't always base their decisions on what is right. Usually emotions can get in the way and have a negative effect on a situation. This happens alot because people let things get to them to a certain extent. If someone is having a bad day, they might just lash out on someone else for whatever reason. Making a negative chain reaction to the next person. In my life, pride plays a important role. I try to make decisions knowing that I won't regret whatever I did. Even though we are all human and make mistakes, bad things can be prevented if we just take time to stop and think. Helping us to realize what is important and what isn't worth it.
I believe that this quote means that people are influenced by their emotions and their beliefs. When people let their emotions interfere with their work, then they tend not to do as well. I have always noticed that when I am upset, or having a bad day, I never do well on tests or quizzes I have that day. However, when I am motivated I do very well. I believe that all people should show pride. Pride is a very important thing to have. I think I show pride in poms and especially in my work. I've been working really hard in school this year, and it has really been paying off. The reason why I'm working so hard is for me. I want to succeed in life, be successful, and go to a good college. I love the feeling of receiving good grades for my work. In other words, I want to have pride in my work. How people let their emotions get in the way of their work is that, their more focused on the people around them, such as their friends, or boyfriends/girlfriends, and even enemies, rather than what's in front of them. Their to caught up in their social lives. What I'm saying is, is that there's nothing wrong with having a social life, but you have to separate from your academics. Which this interfering, it leaves them throwing something together last minute, not doing it at all, or creating a dumb excuse to why they don't have it. In other words, they don't have any pride in their work, or more importantly themselves.

This quote means that people are more likely to think with their emotions than with their logic. We grow up with pride and prejudices that influence our decisions. I know that in my life, this quote seems to apply a lot. Many times I make choices based on my prejudices and emotions rather than what logic should tell me to do. If I could act on situations while blocking out my emotions, I would be able to make the right choices almost all the time. I feel like pride is important to me in some aspects of my life. I want to take pride in the work I do and I want others to see that I gave my best effort. On the other hand, I do not want to be too proud of myself, because then you become full of yourself. I try to be modest most of the time while still putting effort towards everything. I think it is about finding the right balance between having some pride and modesty.
This quote means alot to me and applies to my life. I feel like this quote applies to real life very nicely. It is very true that people make decions before thinking about what they are going to have as outcomes. People let their emotions do the talking rather than vice versa. I think that a person who strives for greatness should take pride in what they do and the decisions they make. I know i can fend for myself, and i take pride in knowing that. Also, i have pride in my after school activities. I practice very hard for tennis.

I think this quote is saying that people are all diffrent, and we all have diffrent emotions and feelings. I think that pride is a big emotion/feeling we all have. Pride is a big part in my life. Theirs a lot of examples here but ill go with my school. You have to have pride in your school and its athletic. For instance, I am on the hockey team and I have to have pride. I have to want to play well to represent my school well. Otherwise, it wont mean anything. Also, I think I have to have pride in my schoolwork so I can get into the college I want, which is Michigan State. I think I am on the right path.

I believe this man's quote to be very true actually. It is saying that people dont always use their heads when they do things. They just let their emotions get the best of them, and act on that instead. This is very true though. It is also saying that a person's pride is what motivates them. To me, that is very true, my pride motivates me to do certain things. I take pride in pretty much everything I do. I want things to be done the right way, and look good when they have my name on them. It just shows that I care about myself and how I come off when I show a little bit of pride. So, pride is very important to who I am as a person. It effects almost everything I do and I try to show my pride everyday. It makes you who YOU are, basically your character. I believe everyone's own individual pride is, and should be, important to them.
I believe that this quote can mean many different things. I agree that people are influenced by their emotions. The quote also reminds us that as human beings, what we do and how we act upon our decisions is revolved around emotions like pride. In both society today as well as in times of Achilles, people acted strongly upon their personal emotions. In the Iliad, Achilles brutally killed and mutalated the body of Hector. He acted upon his call for revenge, but I think he also needed to show pride. Personally, I do notice that I do make decisions based on my emotions. However, I don't think I am too worried about the idea of pride. I mean, I have my morals and I have my goals, but I do not revolve my life around the idea of pride. This quote does effect my life, but it does not have too great of an impact.
This quote can mean many things, but to me I think its true. We are humans and we act on our emotions. People that lived thousands of years ago up until now all act on their emotions. A great example of this is in the Iliad when Achilles killed Hector. Achilles acted on revenge. He was pissed that hector killed his friend so he went and killed Hector. This fed Achilles pride as well as his ego. Pride is a very important trait to have as a person. Having pride shows that you care about what you do. You are always telling us to take pride in our work. That is a great example of taking pride.

To me, the quote "When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity." by Dale Carnegie means people base their emotions on how they respond to things in daily life. If you take pride in what you do, youll have more respect for yourself and others. People base their actions on emotions rather than logic, because it just comes first. Its like talking or acting wwithout thinking. Pride plays an important role in my life, even though i dont put it to use as much as i should. I usually do as much work just to pass by or just enough chores to leave for the weekend; i never push myself further. My parents always tell me i should take pride in what i do, so im going to work on that :)
"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."
Dale Carnegie
This quote seems to be looking at pride as a negative thing, but I do not believe that it is. There is a certain amount of pride that every individual has to have. A "prideless" person does not get things done. They do not care about themselves or about others. Pride is an important trait for a person to have. Pride is very important to me. Pride helps to motivate me. It helps to keep me on my feet. I feel pride when I know that I have done something right, and I am sure that others feel the same thing as well. Pride is important to the way our emotions and life work.

I feel that Dale Carnegie is right. Even thought we are suppose to be creatures of logic we are creatures of emotions. Dale seems to describe us all be in high school. We walk among the creatures where dignity and honor take second place. People are hung up on status (or pride) or how good they look. What truly maters is how you treat yourself and others. If you treat people with dignity and respect that is something to be proud of. I am not cool, am not the best dressed but I am proud of who I am. I believe if you treat someone right you give them pride too.
I think that the quote means alot and that it can describe the way many people think today. The quote is saying that people arent driven by logical thought but by revenge and jealousy. I also think the quote is saying that people act based on emotion and not reasoning. Pride is very important to me. If I dont have pride in the things I do then im doing them half-ass. I believe that people should take pride in all of their work instead of doing things based on their reputation and what others think of them. I think that people need to take pride in who they are and what their beliefs are. Everybody should practice this more including me.
I think this quote is very true. This quote to me means Peoples actions are influenced by their emotions and what their beliefs are. I think like no matter how bad you want something your gonna try you hardest to get it. Many people take pride in the work they do. In today's society people let their emotions get in the way of their thinking. people do before they think and base their decisions off their emotions. pride is very improtant to me. you have to have it in what you are doing or it wont be as good as you want it to be.
"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."
Dale Carnegie
To me, this quote means that we have to see people as proud, vein and biased beings, rather than logical, unemotional creatures. We as people, are ruled by our emotions. We let them affect how we make decisions and how we live life day to day. to me, this is a major flaw in human nature. We are virtually incapable of stepping 100% outside of a situation to see all sides of it, causing us to always make biased and predjudice decisions. we allow our feelings toward others affect how we view their thoughts and actions, good or bad. This instinctive response makes us put our selves onto a pedistal. We are very proud, and thats not always a good thing. People tend to shut out what they think that they are better than. It is important to be proud of what you do and who you are, but we tend to take it too far and we get thid godly image of ourselves, which can be rather frustrating at times.

The quote by Dale Carnegie, describes pride as a negative trait in a person. It says that pride and vanity are what makes people illogical, along with prejudices and such. The quote sujests that people can be inhuman and unreasonable. We do things for extremly selfish reasons and tend to be followers. Pride is something that can be both good and bad. Everything depends on the context of which someone has pride. I beleive it is important to have pride in your country and beleifs, with things of that manner. When it comes to haveing pride of yourself, I think that can tend to be a downfall. Having too much pride, can tend to makea person arrogant and selfish. It almost as saying, that if you have so much pride you can do anything because youa re so bold about it. Its a questionable topic to discuss if having pride is good or bad, but for the most part I beleive it is a negative aspect to have in ones self, and myself in general.

"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity."
Dale Carnegie
To me, this quote describes humanity. It tell us that all humans are not perfect. We let emotion, prejudices, and pride effect how we act. Pride is a very important quality to have. I believe that you should only have a certain amount though. Too much pride can lead to over-confidence which is an undesireable trait. Having pride gives you confidence. Confidence makes a person better at everything they do. I think that having confidence makes you a better person overall because you stand for what you believe in. Your beliefs influence who you are.

The quote means that people don't always think before they act, or speak. People tend to act a lot off impulse. They let their emotions override reasonable thinking. Pride is extremly important to my person. You have to take pride in what you do, whether its school, or sports. Having pride in something, will always make you want to push to do better. Push to succeed, not only for yourself, but for your team as well. People who lack pride, show they don't care about what they do. For example, if you don't take pride in marching band, it comes across as you not caring, which in return effects your playing ability. And, it sucks knowing that some people don't care about the band program as much as others. At practice, and at shows, it REALLY comes out in the playing ability of every member, who takes pride in their work, and who doesn't.

In this quote by Dale Carnegie, to me it means that we don't use our brains. I also think it's saying we don't usually think about the decisions we make before we go though with them. We usually just go with our impulse, and act in the moment. Pride is an important part of who I am as a person. My mom always tells me to take pride in everything I do. I may not take pride in everything I do like my mother told me but I am human. I do try my best to take pride in my work and the things I do. I believe pride is an essential thing for a successful life no matter what you want to do.
This quote is very true in society today. It means people act on their emotions before they think logically. Pride is actually abused, we've turned it into something that gets twisted into a root cause of sin. I believe pride an exccessive belief in your superiority. Pride in important to me to a certain extent. I do not get embarassed, I do not act ashamed, and I am not full of myself. I just take pride in being one of few people who are mature for my age, I take pride in my job, and as a person with equal rights.
