Today i read an article online about a 17 year old boy in Rising Sun Ohio being arrested for the murder of his 10 year old brother. As of right now the boy is being charged with assault causing serious bodily injury. The article didn't tell of the reasons the brother was arrested and it also said that the autopsy had just been finished but had not been released yet. But the brother had been arrested before the autopsy took place. I dont understand how anyone could kill someone if the first place, let alone their own brother. When people hear stories like this its hard to believe that it happens. Its shocking that something like this can happen and it makes me interested to find out more. For example, Why was the brother arrested? What evidence did they have? What was the outcome of the autopsy? What is the brother going to be charged with?

For tonights current even i will talk about that Tiger Woods new that has been going around. Tiger got into a car accident on purpose to hide the fact that his wife beat him up. Tiger Woods apologized for his "transgressions" that let his family down. Tiger said, "I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves," he said in a statement on his official Web site. Well i think that Tiger can do whatever he wants. Hes tiger Woods for crying out loud. Qouting Mr. Pouliot, " No matter how hott your wife is, after a period of time with anyperson you are going to get bored". The part of Tiger cheating on his wife is stupid. She is so hott, even if your Tiger Woods you can't think that your to good for her. Even though Tiger tried his best to not tell anything to the media, he finally grew some balls and spoke the truth. For that i respect him.

Today for my current i chose Two 15-year-old boys sentenced to life without parole. At a highly emotional hearing, two 15-year-olds from Pontiac were sentenced today to life in prison without parole for the beating death of a homeless man. Thomas Jay McCloud, Jr. and Dontez Marc Tillman were convicted in October of first-degree felony murder for the death of 61-year-old Wilford “Frenchie” Hamilton, who was discovered with severe head wounds Aug. 21 next to a trash bin in a Pontiac alley. McCloud was also convicted of a second count of felony murder for the death of 65-year-old Lee Hoffman, a homeless man whose body was found in a small park off of Saginaw Street. The convictions carry mandatory sentences of life in prison without parole. The crimes occurred when the two were 14 years old. This current event connects to my life because the boys convicted are not much younger then me, so its scary to think that such young people can be so evil.

Glue is being used as a cure for a rare condition in babies. Vein of Galen malformation affects communication between the arteries and veins in their brain. Babies usually die within 3-4 days within getting the disease. Since 2003, 50 babies have been cured with the glue injections. This relates to the world because new cures for diseases are bing found everyday. Even though we will never get this disease, and there is a slim chance that our children will, it is still a great medical discovery. It is amazing that doctors found a cure for this disease from an everyday household object. It makes me think of all the possiblities of medicine there is out there. This discovery may not help us, but it could lead to a new dicovery that one day could save our lives.

There are many important current events happening around the world today. The current event I would like to talk about is that insect repellent is linked to genital defects. Pregnant women are being advised to avoid insect repellent after a study which found a link to an increasingly common birth defect. European researchers have found a link between expectant moms who used the repellent in the earliest phase of pregnancy and an increased rate of a condition known as hypospadias. This condition affects 1-2 boys in every 500 births, and it often requires corrective surgery. "Here is more evidence that pregnant mothers, or mothers planning pregnancy, should limit their exposure to chemicals such as insect repellents," Chris Winder, a University of New South Wales Professor of Toxicology and Occupational Health in Australia said. This event affects my community. I know a lot of women who are planning on having children. I think that it is important for expecting mothers to be aware of the different problems that could occur during pregnancy. Also, I think this particular study is very important because insect repellent is used often by many women. In conclusion, I feel that women should learn about certain things to avoid when being pregnant.

My current event is on the unemployed workers losing their help from the government to purchase health insurance coverage. Many unemployed workers and their families are at risk of losing their health insurance. As part of a stimulus plan, laid off workers were receiving help in paying their COBRA insurance. The government would cover 65% of the monthly premium; making it at least affordable for the insurance to purchase health insurance. This was only to last for 9 mths of unemployement. Many people have been out of a job for over a year. The premiums to purchase COBRA could cost a family up to $400 or more a month. With only receiving approx $387 a month doesn't make it possible for people to buy health insurance. Something has to be done about health insurance so that no person has to go out without insurance. The current situation with Health Care Reform could affect every American and we need to make health insurance affordable for all.

Today in Pittsfield Township, MI a 28 year old man was shot to death outside of his home. The worst part about this is that it happened infront of nearly 20 children standing at their bus stop just a short distance away. If your going to kill somebody why would you do it infront of children? One of the things I believe in is that no matter what kind of person you are, you always set a good example for young children. The children who witnessed this shooting are never going to forget it. This incident will stick with them for the rest of their lives. The man who shot the other man has children also. Based on the fact that he has children it makes me want to why he would ever commit such a violent crime in front of small children. He would probably be pissed if his children whitnessed a shooting while waiting for their school bus. Things like these have a huge impact on our community, and directly effect the way people from all around the country view Michigan.

For my current event I chose to talk about the rain crash in Russia. The train wreck was caused by what they think is an act of terrorism. The train wreck caused 26 deaths and injured 100 people. Investigators in Russia said they have found traces of explosive devices. Investigators also said it was indeed an act of terrorism. Later that saturday morning investigators found another explosive device that was a lot smaller, and caused no injuries. I chose this article to talk about because it reflects what is going on in the world. There is so much hatred and violence going on it amazes me. You wonder what is wrong with the people of the world when events like this happen.

For my current event, i have choose to talk about the well known article the past couple days of Tiger Woods and his afair. You may know about the situation about tiger crashing his car into a a tree along with a firehydrant. The story behind this was known to be an accident and that his wife had smashed the back of the windows out if the car to save tiger. Today, news hits that tiger acctually was escaping from his wife after she had found the news that he had been cheating on her. This was founded when a Los Angeles cocktail waitress claimed that she had been having a 31-month affair with the world's No. 1golfer. After the news was announced tiger was scared and refused to announce his appology for the actions made by him. After a day of thinking, tiger has now steped up being the big man he is and announced to the public that deep down he is sorry and would like to apologize.

Being a golfer, i know how not only great of a golfer tiger is but how great and active as a person he is. One after another we have lost our popular stars and athletes in america do to there stupid mistakes causing them to also loose their significance to the people. Mike Vick being one as well as Pac man jones and his drug use. We do not need to loose another athlete in which millions of americans look up to. Start using your heads.

When inhale from their cigarette they are inhaling more than they think. Recently research has showen cigarettes are crawling with germs and bacteria that can cause respiratory disease. But on the upside they are sure if these germs pose as a risk to anyone. We come in contact with many germs on a daily basis so it's nothing new. Researchers have found bacteria that cause respiratory disease, lung and blood infections, food borne illness, and infections that people get when they're in the hospital. Researchers aren't sure how or if any of the germs can survive the heating process of smoking. Researchers say they can't yet tell if these germs make smokers or people who are around the smoke sick. I can relate some of this information to my life. I can do this because both my parents smoke and obviously I don't want them getting sick. If I can get these germs as well as them it's just another reason not to be around them when they smoke. Even if I can't get it from the smoke I could still get the germs for just being around them. But researchers aren't sure if the germs are harmful yet.

Last night President Obama gave a speech to the nation. In his speech he included that by 2010 he will be sending 30,000 more American soldiers to Afganistan. He says that he is against the war but i dont understand why he needs to send in more troops? I believe that sending more troops is a waste of valuable resources and lives. Obama says that his reasons for sending more troops is to eliminate the rest of the Al-Queda and to successfully transition the Afgany government safely to power. Personally i think this is a dumb idea because you are risking American lives just to help out a country that has done nothing in society but bomb other countries and start wars.

The current event I am choosing is human stem cell research. Obama has changed the law and not it is allowed ethically but the government is not allowed to fund it at all, its just legal now. Many people are very hopeful about this because it has been a debate for a long time and some people think it will make great advances for medical uses. Stem cells could potentially be used to help cure many diseases and help people. The stem cells they are using now have come from leftover embryos of couples having problems with infertility. The embryos being used have strict criteria dealing with the parents and it is all very ethical. Some people are upset about this and think it is taking away a perfectly good human life and is like killing. This is a current event because it could mean huge advancements in the medical field but it could make a lot of people upset. I don't really have an opinion on this whole thing but I know that many people do and it should be interesting to see how the world reacts to this.

Today, NIH has finally approved the use of embryonic stem sell lines. Back in march, the use of embryonic stem cells (culled from embryos left over from fertility treatments) was postponed until NIH could determine which of them were ethically obtained. This issue has been flying around for a long time, but now policies have been set in place to ensure that embryonic stem cells are taken ethicaly. Now, embryonic stem cells may be donated by an informed donar and can be used to save and improve the lives of millions> This new approval will help to speed up the process of getting the vital stem cells to people who desperatly need them. There are now 11 lines of embryonic stem cell lines that are approved forresearch and use, and more are onthe way.

Tiger Woods apologized Wednesday for transgressions that let his family down. That same day a gossip magazine published a report alleging he had an affair. I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. Tiger Woods didn't admit to an affair and offered no details about the "transgressions" in his statement. he always said I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone. I mean every people make mistakes. i kinda feel bad for him.

Today i read online about a school counselor in philadelphia. The school councler was suffering from a heart attack. He died in a emergency room after waiting 80 minutes for help. Three homeless drug addicts nearby stole his watch instead of calling for help. His name was Joaquin Rivera and he was 63 years old. I honestly dont know how anyone, homless druggie or not could rob a old man suffering from a heart attack, its beyond pathedic. This article dosnt really pertain to me but it cought my eye. I know for a fact that if i saw someone dieing the first thought that would run through my mind is call for help, not jack his shit and run.

There are many current events happening, but this one cought my eye. On Tuesday President Obama gave a speech to the nation at the U.S. Military acedemy at West Point about his new plan for the war in Iraq/Afghanistan. He is now planning on sending out 30,000 more troops by 2010. He is hoping that this will cause al-Qaida from regaining control in Afghanistan. He said during his speech, "that a rapid troop surge was essential to curb the momentum extremists have gained in Afghanistan while the U.S. was focused on fighting in Iraq." President Obama also stated that he does have an exit plan. He is saying that U.S. forces will be withdrawing out of Afghanistan by July 2011, around the time the Canadian forces will be withdrawing as well. I personally do not think it is worth the time and lives to send anymore troops, because as soon as we leave there is a good chance they will just go back to they're normal ways.

Just 24 days before Christmas, thieves in Garden Grove, California stole over $100,000 worth of toys and food. They took it from an underground storage facility that was associated with the United Labor Agency of Orange County. They were going to help poor families out this Christman by providing them with these gifts. However, now they are scrambling around trying to figure out what to do, and to see if they can catch these thieves. I personally don't see why anyone would want to steal from the poor. It is just a wrong thing to do. However, as everyone knows I am a conservative, so I don't believe in welfare for the poor. However, that is mandatory, and I am all for voluntary donations to the poor. So I think this is terrible act and it shows that even the people can mean the best get stolen from. Just think about how you would feel if you were poor and just wanted a happy Christmas.

I saw an article on Susan Boyle, the Britains got talent standout singer. Her album, I Dreamed a Dream is on top of the illboard 200 albums chart with 701,000 copies sold in its first week. Its amazing how someone who was first anticipated as a bad singer reached such a feat. It just goes to show that anyone is capable of great things and shouldnt be judged to quickly. I remeber watching susans audition on the show, and the judges just laughed to themselves when she told them she was going to sing. Little did they know that she would blow their socks off. Susan overcame many obsticals and overcame adversity with her album. Everyone deserves a chance, so those who are quick to judge should just think of Susans story and give people a chance to proove themselves.

New york law makers voted against gay marriage 38 to 24. there are only five states in America that have accepted gay marriage. the rest of the states have a law specifically banning gay marriage. i think that the is the dumbest thing! it's discrimination against a group of people. if our president is a African American, how can we not allow gay marriage. we have come a very far way in accepting different groups of people. in time a believe that all states will have accepted gay marriage but it will be a struggle.

For my current event I am going to talk about a topic that I think many kids my age shy away from discussing. Recently, a young teenage girl named Hope committed suicide after several sexting incidents. Her mother had caught her several times with innappropiate messages on her phone, but Hope claimed it wasn't a big deal. It turns out, the boys taunting her scarred her to the point that she took her own life. Her mother appeared on the Today show on NBC to share her story with the world. She warned the public that her baby girl was gone because of sexting. I chose this to be my current event because it relates to me greatly. Hope, who took her own life, was in high school just like me, she had friends, she went to parties, drove a car and she was glued to her phone. It scares me to think that someone who appears to be so happy, can really be deeply upset to the point of suicide on the inside. Not too mention, it goes to show you that the effect of sexting has the ability to be far more severe than most would claim.

A poll in October found 44 percent of americans favor full legalization of marijuana a rise of 13 points since 2000. If people continue to favor the legalization of the drug we can see marijuana legalized in as little as four years! I belive if marijuana is legalized we would see less teens hustling on the streets and less teens in trouble.

For my current event i am going to talk about the H1N1 virus. When someone gets this virus, they get sick very fast. For parents or anyone who thinks they might have
H1N1, there are many signs you can look for. These include trouble breathing, stiff neck, continuous pain in one spot, blue nails, and overall, your child or yourself just doesnt feel right. H1N1 is serious and some people have died from it while others have come close. Looking for these symptoms can save your life or someone elses. Getting diagnosed and treated is the best thing. Once you are treated, it isnt going to spread and you hopefully wont get anyone else sick. In my eyes, washing your hands is an easy thing you can do to keep from gettting sick. I wash my hands all the time whether it be with hand sanitizer or soap and water.

Its amazing what people are capble of. I just finished reading a story about the death of a ten year old boy. Although no name has been released, police suspect that his brother was the murderer. His brother! What the hell is wrong with people. Killing someone you love, at the age of 17. Something is wrong with society, when people are killing their 10 year old brothers. I could not even for one second consider hurting my brother, let alone kill him. What happened to that boy, that he went to that far o an extreme. ITs honestly sad that not only are things like this becoming more common, but that people are getting used to it. It seems like these days when you see something about a murder on TV, you might think about it for a second, but then it is gone and you never think about it again. Its sad, and its disgusting. Im sure that I am not the only one that wrote about this either.

I am writing about how the government is letting scienstist use tax payers dollars for stem cell research. I personally think it is great that they are fianlly starting to do stem cell research. Stem cells can do so much for people. They are starting with 13 batches of embryonic stem cells. The government says that their will be dozens more of lines to be used soon. Researchers who were awarded $21 million in stem cell research grants earlier this year can start using the approved lines immediately. Embryonic stem cells can morph into any cell of the body. They can cure diseases like diabetes, Parkinson's, and even spinal injuries to. By doing this research it may seem bad for a baby but really they are helping so many people by doing this.

For my current event I'm going to talk about the release of five british sailors from Iran. Today Iran released the five British sailors that were detained last week when their racing yacht drifted into Iran's waters. Apparently there was a failure in the propellar of the boat and that was the reason for the drift into these waters. Since they were trespassing, the elite Revolutionary Guard put them in detainment. They had an investiagation and came to the conclusion of innocence. The sailors are reported to be safely returning back to Britain and their families. I feel happy that the families were reunited with their loved ones. I'm still infuriated by the fact that Iran takes the intiative to bully others around. They capture innocent people and release them when they feel like it. No proof they were a threat, but yet they were still put in detainment until further notice.

The White House is starting to warm up to job-realted legislation aimed at boosting job creation. There is new initiatives to help small business and increase infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges. There is also consideration of additional help towards states on avoiding layoffs. The White House wants to continue support for those who are long-term unemployed. These legislative steps would still have to stay low in cost though, due to the fact that the budget deficit is already very large. The article said that in the next year, the White House wants to also work on improving the budget deficit. I think that it is a good sign that the goverment is still trying to help the economy even when we are low on money. It seems like all the spending the White House has been doing has not done much for the citizens. We still need help with money, and I think trying to find a balance of helping the budget deficit while trying to create jobs is what we need most right now. It's good to see some type of progress when it comes to the economy, even in little steps.

Maurice Clemmons was a cop killer. Basically, he shot down four cops, but in the end he was killed. In total, 6 to 7 people were accused of helping him. One of the 6 to 7 people was his sister.

I have to say, I'm not too fond of Clemmons and his family. I mean for crying out loud, he killed four cops and his family helped him. Gave him money, rides from place to place. They should all be locked up if you ask me.

Before Clemmons died he said to press that he was Jesus Christ and that the apoctoliptic end was near. He also stated how Obama was his brother and oprah winfrey was his sister. Later on they think it was just crazy talk.
I think this is kind of creepy, and at the same time great. I view this just creepy because what if this man really have visions and just tried to help? Maybe we went wrong? Most likely he didn't though. Most likely we just put another criminal in his place. This stuff is just very interesting to me and how people can be.

For my current event this evening I'm going to write about the number of people exercising in America, let alone Michigan. The highest percentage of people exercising in the states is 84.1%, that is in Minnesota. The lowest is in Mississippi, which includes a percentage of 68.6. All together between all the stats is an average of 76.6%. Michigan let alone is at the percentage of 77.8. However, this is considered average, I still feel that not everyone is getting the right amount of exercise in them. I believe that exercising is very important, because it is very important to keep in shape, and especially be healthy. Not only does exercising keep you health, but eating the right foods as well. If people would just start working out once or twice a week, or starting with a walk, then advancing to a jog, and also cutting back on the junk food, America would be much more healthy. America is one of the lowest countries in the range of exercising and so forth. I feel it is very important. Without exercise we would be short of breathe just walking up the stairs. Exercising and eating right is the key to being healthy. I'm sure that's something that everyone wants to be.

today i found a article on how the UN(united nations)predicts that the world wide economy will bounce back in 2010. With a global growth rate of 2.4 percent. I believe that this prediction is a little off. I think that the only way the global economy is stimulated, is if country's from around the world come together instead of pulling away from each other. Today you hear about conflicts between nations from conflicts and wars, to rumors on how countrys are stealing from there allied nations. If countrys could put their differences aside and work together, i think the world will start to recover from the recession.

Today i read an online article about a mans dog that was killed by a coyote. I remember a while ago hearing about this on the news, an the time it was a big deal, because a lot of people were reporting sightings of coyote's. But what i dont understand is why their going back into the story and brining it up agian. I think that the news getting out of control and people are just makeing up stories to be seen. My dog got hit by a car a while back, did i call fox 2 news about it, No. I think that this is an important issue because it shows how the news doesnt mind their own buissness, and also that people will come up any kind of story just to be seen.

I was looking at current events and i found one on a couple that were getting married. The couple were at their church having what everyone thought was to be a regular wedding. Then right at the altar, the groom pulled out his phone and went on his facebook and changed his status to married. The bride did as well and the crowd got a good laugh out of it. Its funny how much things have changed. Theres no way that would have been fine to do a coupleyears ago, to me thats pretty weird. Also to think how much a computer program means to some people?, thats the first thing they have to change. Its kinda funny because its pretty creative. Technology has impacted our lives so much, and as you can see alot of people base their live off the internet and programs.

For the current news blog I want to talk about a high school shooting. The shooting took place in a high school in Massachusetts. A 17 year old boy was shot in the leg while watching basketball tryouts. When it comes to serious problems like this at school it makes you wonder if it could happen to you. For all we know somebody could walk into class tomorrow and go columbine at lakeland high school. It makes you feel unsafe, and being at school is supposed to make you feel safe and protect you from these kind of things. It seems now that there have been a lot of problems related at school, and sometimes I dont feel as secure as I should at school. There is a quote on the website that sums up my feelings about school shootings, "When you go to school, you expect to be safe. When something like this happens, it just breaks you down, and makes you feel unsecure,"

One current event today is Obamas plan to bring back troops from Afghanistan. His goal is to end the war in Afganistan within the next two years, by 2011. This relates to the moajority of people in the U.S. Most people know someone or are related to someone serving in the war. The 30,000 troops being brought home with finally be with there families at lasr. Familes will finally be complete again. I know that this personally makes me extremely happy because I know that my friend over there will finally get to come home.

For my current event I am going to talk about our economy. Although we may not notice it yet, our economy is bouncing back and slightly improving. How do we know this? A recent survey taken by the Federal Reserve proves that since October the economy has improved. Right now the unemployment rate is at 10.2%; it is estimated that but 2010 it will rise to 11%. Although this may seem like a very small improvement it is something. Our country will be greatful even if their lives improve at the smallest scale. The Fed still expects it to take a longer time for the job market to return to normal; maybe even 5 to 6 years but we are on our way to a recovery. A factor that caused this improvement was factories bumping up their production levels and people shopping more. People love to shop and the companies did the right thing in producing more materials. I feel that this does not only apply to our community but to the entire country. This improvement is hope that one day our country could be prosperous again and all could live heathily and happily. That's all people want anyway; to live a happy and healthy life.

Today I will be talking about how the earth could plunge into a sudden ice age at any time. Scientists said there is no reason for an ice age not to begin anytime soon. Scientists have also found evidence in Greenland about the upcoming ice age. Even though the earth is going through global warming it does not mean the earth can’t have another ice age. This would affect every person in the world. This could be one of the biggest events, if not the biggest event that could happen in my life time. Not saying that this sudden ice age will happen in the next 100 year but it is important not to forget about it.

My current event is going to be on the swine flu, and the vaccinations for it. For now the cases of the swine flu are on the decrease, and the vaccinations are being given to the ones that most need it like elderly and young children. over 70 million swine flu vacinations have been distributed, and as the supply of vaccinations increases the number of cases is decreasing. Even though the number of cases is on the fall, the vaccinations handed out are focused more on priority groups. In Palm Beach there have been around 23 hospitalized and 11 deaths due to the swine flu. I think they should start giving some vaccinations to people outside of the priority group, because it would slow the spread of the H1N1 swing flu faster than if they are only giving the vaccinations to the priority group.

Today in my current event i would like to talk about Obama's Afghanistan strategy. In this strategy Obama is sending 30,000 more troops to the problem. The problem is that we are not fully under control and Obama feels that we need more support. As this strategy is being identify by the Republicans and Democrats they don't agree. I disagree as well because i think the main goal today is to be getting the troops out and home safely. its not our war to be fighting. Not only is this plan risking peoples lives but under the installment plan its costing us billions of dollars. Obama's opposition on the plan is being evaluated in the senate and we should now more later next week.

For tonights blog, I am going to write about the back to school starting date. The Obama administration is pushing toward having school start before Labor day for everyone. Since 2005, the state of Michigan requires that public schools start after Labor Day so families could go on vacations and tourism-based trips before school starts in the fall. Some lawmakers say that getting rid of this requirement may improve the state's chances of securing more federal cash for school. This I don't understand. How is starting school a few weeks earlier going to do that? Some people believe that it could be a "direct assult against tourism in Michigan." Schools say it is also to get Michigan to race to the top and get more competitive. I don't think that would be fair. Kids still have to have a certain amount of time in school, so making the returning date for school earlier isn't really going to improve learning, since the summer break is still the same amount. I hope school still remains to start after Laybor Day.

I was actually hopefully we were gonna do current event today. The reason is because i have been seeing what has been going on with tiger woods lately. He has got into a car accident, bascially been confirmed as having affair, and his wife may have beaten him. His whole career he has gone along pretty quietly. He has not made headlines for much of anything. I think this just shows what money and fame can eventually do to you. The man seemed to be perfect but now his whole life is unfolding. Also, you have to think of all the kids that looked up to him who dont anymore. I think i look at him in a new way now.

For this evening i will be talking about a teacher in Tennessee who vandalized her own school. Brenda Sue Rawls a middle school teacher in Tennessee was charged with vandalism, contributing to delinquency of a minor and criminal trespassing. Rawls bought sardines condoms and lubricant which was then used to decorate another teachers room that Rawl was feuding with at the middle school. Rawl reportedly recruited children to carry out her plan. Rawl however was not fired for the incident she was just transferred to the nearby elementary school. I think this is so stupid it is humoriuos. Not only is it stupid on Rawls fault but also the school district for not firing her. It is also wrong that she threw the kids who helped her under the bus by saying she did not help do the actual vandilising. Its troubling that in this economy that people would jeperdize there career by doing somehting as stupid as this. It also makes me wonder the backround of my teachers.

The latest news at Lincoln University is that you have to be fit to graduate. If you have a body mass of 30 or more, you have to go into a fitness class and if you fail the class, you don’t graduate. One student, Tiana Lawson wrote in the school news paper that she feels the class is unfair. The only people who have to have the class are the ones who have a high BMI, she feels that it would be a good class if every one has to take it, but that’s not how it is. On the other hand, faculty found it a good way to be honest with their students and to make sure they are healthy. James DeBoy was one of those faculties, chairman of the school's Department of Health and Physical Education, who felt that it was a good idea that students with a high BMI take the course. They have studied that people with high BMI’s are at more of a risk of getting heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers and other ailments. I feel that heath is such an important part of my day to day life. If others feel differently, that’s what they feel. I think that this class discriminates against people who are obese. This class, it think, would just make people feel like a lesser person in society and on campus. I agree that people should watch what they eat, and how they exercise because of heath threats. Although, not allowing students to graduate because they are over the BMI limit is uncalled for. Students go to college to succeed in the future and to experience the real world…would your boss fire you because you were obese?

For my current event I am writing about Tiger Woods. The media said Tiger was cheating on his wife. Tiger said it was not true. The woman came forward with evidence to prove the affair and that it had been going on for almost 3 years. Finally, Tiger admitted the affair and apologized. I think he was apologizing for getting caught, not for what he did. The only thing he was sorry about, was getting busted.
I think this story shows that people should not use sports figures, actors, etc, as heros. Looking up to these people always ends with disappointment. They pretend to be one person, then it comes out that they are either cheating, lying, stealing or doing drugs. They lie about it, until they eventually have no choice but to admit the truth. Heros should be honest people that you can really look up to and know. My hero is my dad. I know him, I respect him and I know he is honest. He will never let me down and I know I will never see him on tv, lying.

Today I read on CNN, "Shake-up eyed after inmate in wheelchair escapes on foot." I was shocked when I read this story. Arcade Comeaux Jr. was in a wheelchair because he was "paralysed" after having a stroke, however, it was now thought to be just a set up. He was being trasfered to a prison closer to a hospital due to him being paralyzed when he pulled a gun out on the two guards whom were transfering him. Comeaux then escaped. I am in awe on how crazy this story was. First off, how did a person in prison get a pistol? Second, how did doctors not realize that Comeaux wasn't paralyzed? There are deffiantly ways that you can figure out if someone is paralyzed or not, that is what doctors are trained to do. I think they need to get tighter security at prisons to help prevent stuff like this from happening. They also need to be more suspcious of those whom are in prision. Prisons need more guards to make sure everything is undercontrol. They are way too outnumbered.

For my current event, I decided to do it on a big ordeal being made on a few party crashers. Last week there was a State dinner at the White house, where a couple showed up supposedly uninvited, in tux and gown. What the main discussion is how this could have happened. After checking the guest list, the couple was not in fact on the list. They were checked at the front for any weapons just like everyone else, but the fact that they could basicly walk in is somewhat questionable. It questions the entire security of the White House. Although this isn't a very big threat and a very light security breach, it is still important to not let anyone unknown into the White House. How this affects me is that it is all about security. I know this is a stretch but a third party brought to my attention, that what if these people were terrorist or something? Even if it is far fetched the question still comes to mind and we all want our leaders to be safe.

Today I have chosen the current event of Governor Granholm's and the Army Corps of Engineers decision to shut off water trading routes from the Mississippi River to the Great Lakes. They think the carp may have gotten past the electrical barrier, so they plan on putting poison in the river to keep the carp away while they fix the barrier. I wondered why they would do this at first but then I read that a species of fish, the voracious Asian carp, is wiping out other aquatic species in the Mississippi River. People have starte to fear that if these carp get into the lakes they will wipe out our fish. Others fear that Granholm is trying another "sit back and in three years you'll be blown away" plan. And then more people fear that the A.C.E is going to cause another New Orleans incident here in Michigan. Some people blame it on the fact that the carps were imported to keep algae out of cooling ponds in the South. I think that this is a problem that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.

It has been about a month since Major Nidal Malik Hasan shot 32 people at Fort Hood. When I wrote about this before everyone thought he was dead until it came out that in the confutation and panic he was thought dead. Instead he is paralyzed from the waist down from being shot. Now he will face 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. This incident forced Fort Hood to tighten security procedures and expand mental health services. The Defense Department also has initiated a 45-day review to determine whether weaknesses in programs or procedures put service members and their families at risk.
This shooting seems similar to ones that have happened before, like the Virginia Tech shooting. They have at least one thing in common it is mental problems. The shooters seem to have been people that did not think right. Obviously something tells them that in order to get their point across they should kill people. The worst part is that there is no way of knowing if a person is like this. It is also impossible to protect your self from these types of people. The way they get there point across is to kill.

Tonight for my blog im going to do it about Darcus Allen who was accused of killing four policeman. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail after he was charged with being a fugitive. Though he has been warned him that more charges may be added. Along with Allen two woman were held ordered held for 72 hours on $500,000 bail, after after being arrested for investigation of helping the killer. This article relates to my life, and community a lot. There are many of people getting shot and killed every day. It is a scary thing if you really think about it. It just seems to be the big thing now, and no one can stop it.

My current event is about a woman in Canada that had her benefits cut after her insurance agent found pictures of her on Facebook of her vacationing. I believe that this is completely unfair. I personally believe that no person should have their health care just taken away even if they weren't using it in the most honest way. I also find it just a bit "stalkerish" that her agent was looking her up on Facebook. While I can't say that she is right or wrong, I can say that she was treated unfairly. This kind of thing is happening more and more. The availability of data is immense. Employers (and apparently insurance agents) love this. We now have to be even more careful about what we post online. Health care is getting harder and harder to get, and this kind of thing can really hurt an individual.

Many Americans withing the set guidelines have recieved the H1N1 virus vaccine during this flu season. This was only open to children, pregnant women, and people with heart conditions. These guidelinges, which i know were not strictly followed are going through change. The National Health Deparment is now opening to the vaccine to the general public in the next few weeks. I think this tells us something, more people said to be used to this disease, are being proven not to be. I dont think they would open the vaccine up just if they wanted to be nice, with limmited vaccines i think they would want to do the most with what they have. Secondly, i have heard now that, if you dont recieve the vaccine, that sometime down the road you will get the swine flu. This is because many people with the vaccine will actually get it and not be sick. Still having these germs they will transfer them to others who may not have been vaccinated.

Today I read about the soldier who stabbed two men. Joshua Hunter from Fort Drum stabbed two fellow soldiers Waide T. James and Diego A. Valbuena, multiple times in the Meadowbrook Apartments. The apartments house mostly the military families from Fort Drum. They are not sure why he killed them yet. I think that its unbelievable to think that a soldier would do this. People give soldiers such high respect and when they do something like this it makes you question some of them. I respect soldiers and everything they do to keep this country safe. But, I don't just automatically think that they are good people, because of incidents like this one.

For my current event i couldnt really find anything super intersting but i found an article about a boy who attacked his father because he was snoring to loudly. A Florida teenager has been charged with assaulting his father, reportedly because the man was snoring too loudly. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reported that the teen, 18, first threw a magazine at his father, who was sleeping on a living room couch Tuesday evening. When that didn't work, deputies said the teen pushed his father onto the floor and punched him in the face.
the teen was arrested and charged with domestic battery. I think this relates to me because i have a father and he snores very loudly, but i would never think to attack him because of it. Yeah, there are times i'd like to punch him in the face but not when hes snoring. Thats just sounds completely unnessacary.

this was a shocking event!! 3 little girls were kidnapped by their father just after a brutal devorice. the fater keept them for 19 months and is now faces up to 30 years in jail. this also says that 200,000 kidnappings happen in one year in the u.s. and of thoes 200,000 56,500 are reported and of thoes 115 are from strangers. this is just plain wrong. it makes me think how in the hell could you take someone away from their family or the rest of their family. you are ruining their lives. the public thinks that when a family member kidnapps another family member it isnt as bad as a stranger kidnapping someone because they are with a family member that dosent intend on hurting them. that is bulll!!! there are a lot of freaks and sickos out in the world that dont care weather they are related or not. 1600 cases go unsovlved that is really sad.
