There are 3 major events that are celebrating their anniversary today:
Dec. 1, 1913- The first service station opened (later known as a gas station)
Dec. 1, 1955- Rosa Parks chose not to move to the back of the bus in Montogmery Alabama.
Dec. 1, 1969- The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War.
Choose one of these events and tell why you think they were significant to the time they occurred as well why they are still significant today. Then, tell how your chosen event impacts your life today.
Probably more than 7 sentences.

I have chosen the Rosa Parks Event. This event is very significant to our time becuasse it was one of the more major events to the protest of discrimination. With out this event i beleive that there would still be discrimination at the level that it was then, now. Then this was a big deal. Today we dont think of it as a couragious act becuase if some one said move to the back of the bus u probly would. Back then this was a couragious act becuase the back of the bus was designted for the blacks. She was in the front and refused to move. That is a big deal. This event has impacted mine and everyone else in many ways. Their would probly still be designated bathrooms and schools for whites, blacks, asians, idians, and all the other races.

The significant event that I would like to talk about is when the first service station (gas station) opened on Dec. 1, 1913. This event was significant to its time because people were buying cars and they needed gas to run them. The first gas station opening was a huge event. It provided an easy way to obtain gas. Gas staions play a huge role in the world today. Almost everyone in the world today has an automobile. Most of these people need gas to run their cars(not counting the people who use electric cars and such). People rely on their vehicle to get them to places they need to be. For example, many people in the world have jobs which require them to drive a distance. This event impacts my life today. I am a teen driver, and I drive a lot. I need to get gas every week to get me to places I need to be. I have to drive to school, drive to my friends' houses, etc. Also, gas is really expensive now a days. I hate going to the gas station and seeing how much gas costs. In conclusion, when the first service station opened it left a huge impact on the world, and it still plays an important role in society.

well i think wt rosa parks did was very important, and it wads it made a huge diffrence for future generations and all she did was say no and refused to get up. i wish i could be rememberd for doing somthing like that. so simple yet made a huge diffrence in the world.
The major event that I chose to discuss was Dec 1, 1969- The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War. The U.S. entered into this war to give assistance to the anti-communist South Korea against the communist North Korea. This ended up being the longest war in American history and the most unpopular. Many people at the time and still to this day question whether the American effort in Vietnam was a necessary war or a noble cause. This was very significant to the time because the U.S. paid dearly for this war and there was a lot of protest at that time because of debate as to whether we should have even been there. The decision of whether we should have been involved in the Vietnam War is significant today because we can compare it to whether we should be continuing to sent U.S. troops to Afghanistan & Iraq; our we in a war fighting someone elses cause? These situations are very similar and looking back on the Vietnam War makes a lot of American's question our presence in Afghanistan & Iraq. This event has impacted me because I question whether we should be sending more troops to Afghanistan. I can see the similarities and wonder if we are going to get ourselves into another long standing war fighting someone else's battle!
Dec. 1, 1969- The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War.
The first people that were drafted for the
Vietnam war were very significant. The people that were drafted were needed at the time. Those that volunteered showed courage and bravery. Being drafted in the military is an important and difficult decision. Those that have the bravery and honor to protect our country have my upmost respect. Its always important to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. Keep them close in your heart and always remember that they sacrifice their life to protect you
The event that I feel has the most significacne is Dec. 1, 1955- Rosa Parks chose not to move to the back of the bus in Montogmery Alabama. The reason why I feel that this is the most significant is, the way blacks were treated was wrong and uncalled for. When she took a stand and deicided to not listen to the white man, she was talking for all of the black community. They were all sick of being walked on and treated like they didn't matter. People back then did not have the same moral values we share today. They were rude and totally intolerable to anything or anyone that did not abide by what the white communtiy stood for. I'm sure that they all knew to some certain exstent that how they were treading the black community was wrong. So when Rosa Parks didn't it was the turning point of the century. I believe that this situation for the past impacts my present day life in regrads for the respect of all humans. I treat everyone with the complete and upmost respect, thats how i was brought up. Color of skin does not matter in my book, I just like to be treated with respect, and if you don't repsect me I don't respect you.

The event I choose is the first service station. When it first opened, I'm sure they didn't know the type of dependency we would have on it today. Back then, service stations were needed to run cars and other appliances. Gas stations were significant because they were easier to get gas and it made having a car much easier. When the first service station opened cars were just becoming popular. Cars made is a lot easier to travel. Now, cars our a part of our everyday life, and we have become very dependent on them. I cant imagine getting anywhere if we didn't have gas to run cars. However, now problems with gas have come up that weren't a problem in the past. Gas prices are much higher than they were, and we are running out of the natural resources to produce gas. This shortage is forcing our country to figure out another way to run cars.
I have chosen the Rosa Parks event. This event was verry significant. When she decided to not move to the back of he bus and stand for her rights it made people think. If this event didnt happen then i think that we would still have discrimination in our world today. This was significant back then because she decided to take a stand for her rights. This impacts my life today because if this wouldnt of happened no one would have taken a stand and end discrimination. Rosa parks saying no to going to the back of the bus was a major part in our history.

The event I am choosing to talk about is the first service station which is now known as the gas station. I could imagine how significant how it was to in 1913. It would be a big change in 1913. The service station made everything more convenient back in 1913. People use gas almost everyday if they plan on leaving there house, so thinking back to before the first gas station would be weird. Gas stations are still very important in 2009, and they probably will be for a long time. The gas station has a big impact on my life, but it would probably have a bigger impact if there was such thing as a gas station. I use the gas station on a weekly basis and will continue to.
The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War i believe is the most importent out of the three simply because it got to the point that not enough people were joining the military and it was hurting our country because we were losing the war. The draft is significant today because in todays society the draft is still implemented. You cannot vote unless you enter the draft and by registering to vote you are entering into the draft. The draft can be a scary thing to most people because they figure that it will not be them chosen to serve but there is a good chance for all of us I personally am debating whether to join the military and if i dont decide on the military and they call on me for my service then i will stick it out and do my time.

The event that I am choosing is the first service station opening. I think this is significant at the time it occurred because it made driving a car and putting gas in it so much easier and really helped move the automobile industry along. It is still significant today because look how far it has come. There is a gas station on every other street corner and that is needed for driving a car. So the building of the first car is a huge event in history that we should be thankful for today. This impacts my life today because I couldn't really imagine life without cars and the building of the first gas station really helped that become what it is today. I don't know how people lived without gas stations. They are such a modern convenience that everyone takes for granted.
The reason the opening of the first service station is signifigant, is because of why it was opened. 1913 was the year when Henry Ford changed the world with his mass producton line. It was October of 1913 when the 1st cars were produced. It is only natural hat not long after that is when the 1st service station (gas station) opened. There are obviously still gas stations today, but gas stations themselves arent necesarily signifigant. What is signifigant, is how much gas costs. I can remember a time when gas cost $0.89 a gallon. Now, Gas is at $2.50 per gallon. Its amazing the inflation that has occured over the years, and its probably only going to get higher as oil becomes more scarce.
I have chosen the first people drafted for nam. I think this was significant because ameerica never thought it would come down to a draft. It was was always in the back of peoples minds but they never expected it to happen. As of today, we dont have the draft, but it will always be an option. If there was a draft today, it would kind of surprise me. If I were to get drafted, I would be scared at first but then I would get over it and do my duty. I wouldnt be shocked if a lot of people tried to get out of going to war in some way. I think the draft is neccesary if its the last resort.

The event that I have chosen to blog about is the first people being drafted for the Vietnam War. This event is significant because it was a turning point for America. The Vietnam War stirred up alot of controversery in the late 1960's. When people started being drafted at random things turned into chaos. People were fleeing the country to Canada, trying to avoid the draft. My grandfather was drafted into the war and it changed his whole life. He says that even though he wasnt given a choice he is still proud of fighting for his country. The draft is still something that can be used today. If the draft was to be used for Iraq it would affect any one my age because in two years we could all be drafted.
I chose Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on the bus. Rosa Parks was clearly a couragous and brave woman. Her refusing to get up had a snowballing effect which lead to equal rights. Her refusing spoke something to others, it gave them courage to stand up for what they thought was right also. This has impacted my life in ways I couldn't have emagined. She helped make America a better, more equal place to live in. This is my home and she helped make it safer and nicer to live in. Although she did something as simple as refusing to give up her seat, she made a huge impact. She is a great role model, being both couragous and brave.

A significant event in time, was Dec. 1, 1969, when the first people were drafted for the Vietnam War. This was significant because thousands of people were drafted from that point on into war. They didn't have a choice on if they wanted to or not, it was forced. This not only represents rights taken away as an American, but as a human being. I did not think the draft was a good idea, and I believe a lot of people agree with me. Because of that factor, the draft is not around today and hopefully will not return anytime soon, or ever. How it impacts my life today is, that my parents generation was during the draft. Many of my parent's friends and family were part of the vietnam war, therefore the draft was very important to my family. Had the draft continued for one more year, my father would have most likely been selected. If that happened, I might not be alive.

I chose the Rosa Parks event to talk about. I think this event was very significant because it was one of the events that sparked huge movements. I think this really inspired people to take charge and try to change the way things were. This era was all about segregation, and the restrictions against blacks. However this one of the events that help lead to uniting whites and blacks. It showed people that it is okay to stand up for what you believe in and that you should stand up for it. This event does not personally impact me but it does show me courage. It shows that no matter what, you should be able to fight for your beliefs. It also shows me the idea of equality and truth. I am very glad this event happened because it has shaped some of the values that people should have installed in them from very early on.

There are three major events that are celebrating their anniversary today. The event I'm going to talk about is the first gas station. This must of been a huge success in this time because it made the economy more sufficient. Transportation finally had a chance to become less complex and they achieved it. The gas station is obviously still significant today because it's the key ingrediant that keeps our wheels going. Without it, people wouldn't be able to fuel their cars, therefore making transportation limited. In fact, one of the other events that happened on this day in 1955 wouldn't of been able to occur. When Rosa Parks refused her seat on the bus. Well without gas that bus wouldn't of been going anywhere. The gas station event impacts my life today because I stop there about once a week.
December 1st 1913 the first service station opened. In that time that was never heard of. This opened a bigger opportunity of luxuries to the consumers. Now all you have to do is drive up and they fill up for you, pay then leave. This put much less strain on people and seamed to help make life a bit easier. In my life gas stations may not be the same but are close. People wont come out and fill your tank as you sit. This still makes my life easier because now I just stop and in 5 minutes I am ready to go again. This helps keep america going and on a timely fashion.
The first people drafted for the Vietnam war was and still is very significant today. The war caused a lot of protest during its time. America decided to help south Vietnam because they were anti communist. North Vietnam went against everything Americans believed in then and now. It is still debated by many if we went over there because we had to or we just wanted to help. Many peole were drafted against there will. They did not ask for it, but people still protested against them, degraded them. I think it takes a lot of courage to fight for your country. All the soldiers who fought in the Vietnam war will always have my respect, as for every other soldier who has enlisted or been to war.
Dec. 1, 1955- Rosa Parks chose not to move to the back of the bus in Montogmery Alabama.
This is important because it marks a turning point in the segregation era. Rosa Parks stood up for what she thought was right. She had a long day at work, and didnt want to move to the back of the bus, just to stand there. She was then arrested for expressing her rights, and restrictions at the same time. It is still significant because it made more African Americans stand up for what they believed. As a result, more AA pushed for equality. This still impacts my life because, even though I'm not a minority, I am discriminated against. There is still segregation in the world. Whether people believe it or not, it still exists. I dont believe in any way, shape or form, that a person should be discriminated againest all because their skin color is a different shade then mine.
I am choosing the draft of the Vietnam War. I think it was significant because I think that the war didnt have a big reason for us to be there. I dont think we should have done the drat because it takes people away from their life. Some poeple may of had some other choices than the miltaray but they has to go. The Vietnam War I think was a war we really shouldnt have been in. I think the daraft was a mistake. This event doesnt really impact my life.

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks chose not to move out from the back of a bus so a white person could sit there. This was a big deal back then, because blacks and whites were segegated. She stood up for everyone who has unfair rights by taking a stand. This was the begining of the end of segregation. If Rosa Parks gave up her seat when she was told to, we might still have been doing everything separate. That is why this event is very significant today. This impacts my life because it proves that it takes courage and bravery to stand up for what is right to make a difference in your life as well as the ones around you.
well, i have chosen December 1, 1913, when the first gas station opened. since the 1800's, gasoline has provided fuel for the worlds machinery.nearly everything we see today has been influenced in some way by gasoline. the first thing that we think of when we think of gasoline is cars. Since the early 1920's, cars have been the main way of transportation in this country, so when the gulf refining company in pittsburg, pennsylvenia open up the world's first service station, it started a chain reaction. Back in this time, cars werent as popular, but once the roaring twenties hit, hundreds of oil companies followed suit and started putting up service stations. Today, there are millions of gas stations around the country. In myst places, you dont even have to drive for 5 minutes and you've already passed at least 1. this modest gas station in 1913 marked the begining of the blossoming of the worlds greatest enterprise.
the significant even i decided to blog about is the first service station (gas station) opened on Dec. 1, 1913. obviously gas stations are a nesesity and are very important to our time. in 1913 i think they were significant because they were new to the united states. they were also important because they were so efficient, and made transportation a lot easier. Gas stations play a huge roll today, we use gas stations at least once a week. gas stations impact my life becasue i use a form of trasportation everyday and without gas stations this would not be possible. also with out them i would be doing nothing with my life beacuse i know for sure i wouldnt be walking everywhere.
the event i have chosen is when Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat. this was extremely significant to the time it happen. during this time the whole black rights movement was going on, it was hard for them to take a stance on anything without the fear of being thrown in jail. even though Rosa Parks eventually was thrown in jail for that is was a very huge stand on her beliefs and the important beliefs of the time. Rosa Parks movement is still so very important to us today. its sad to say that there are still currently barriers for African Americans and discrimination toward them. Rosa Parks action is a reminder of how hard they worked to achieve their beliefs and how far that they have came. this event impacts my life as well, maybe not for a good reason. i have no reason to believe that the actions of Rosa have led our president to being an African American. the choices that he makes affects all of our lives.
Rosa Parks was a hero. She stood up for what she believed in. By not moving to the back of the bus, Rosa Parks got the Civil Rights movement going in a way. I say this because she gave others hope and courage to stand up for themselves. It is still significant today because it shows us that we should stand up for what we believe in. It also shows us that if it wasn't for Rosa Parks we might still be segregated right now. What I've learned from this is that sometimes we have to fight for what we believe in, no matter what the consequences are.

The Rosa Parks is very significant to us today. This event is very significant to the time period becasue it helped fight the discrimination associated with blacks at the time. It helped show how all men are created equal. It also shows how women needed to be treated equally in this world too. Without this event, I think we wouldn't have our eyes open to the unjust things that whites were doing to the African Americans. I think it motivated people to follow, so we would still have the descrimination today if we never had this event. She is now honored in today's society, and she is one of the leaders of the civil rights movement. This has impacted my life because we now do not have segregation. We can all use the same bathroom, black or white. But, we also have no tolerance for discrimination anymore.
I chose to write about the first people being drafted for the Vietnam war. I chose this event because at that time there were alot less people voulentarily enlisting in the military and there were more people dying in Vietnam than expected, and at the rate of enlistments, there werent going to be enough soldiers. Even though there were some people that chose not to serve their country and fight for freedom, and others were scared and fled the country, the draft made a great impact on life today. One way the draft is significant to life today, is because it can serve as an intimidation technique, in the case of us needing more soldiers, or getting more patriotic citizens. My chosen event impacts my life today because, when i enlist i dont want to be forced into the military i want to voluntarily join, and have more pride and patriotism than someone who was drafted.
I chose to do Rosa Parks for my event. This event was very important in history for multiple reasons. One is that she was the first black woman to stand up to a white person. She was brave and stood up for herself and her rights. She was risking her own life to stand up for herself. This was significant because back then, nobody ever stood up to a white person. Because of this, more and more black people started realizing that the society isnt right for discriminating against black people and it should stop. This is still significant today, because if it wasnt for her courage, then we wouldnt be such a diverse country today. This impacts my life because, i admire her courage and her ability to go against the crowd and fight for herself, regardless of what her punishment would be. She is still one of the most influential people of all time, and will be remembered forever.
The event that I chose was the first gas station opened on, December 1st, 1913. How this is important is because back then when those people who were lucky enough to posses a car, somehow needed to make them run. When the gas station opened, it was an easier way for people to receive gas, and it was very convenient. Still, till this very day do we use gas stations. There are billions of gas stations around the world. Millions of people use them everyday! You need gas to be able to get to where you need to be. No gas means no car. How this impacts my life is because, gas isn't cheap. Especially with the way our economy is, the gas prices are inflating. Last year they were almost up to $4 a gallon, then they decreased significantly, and now the price is increasing again. I am 16 now, and soon will be driving on my own. When I receive a car, I will have to pay for gas on my own, with that, I will probably be low on cash. Fortunately, I have a job, so I'll have money to pay for gas. All in all, gas stations were widely popular back in the 1900's and they are still popular one hundred year's later.

I chose the event in which Rosa Parks decided not to move to the back of the bus. This was significant because black people were always required to sit at the back of the bus and when a white person asked them to move they did. A black person not moving for a white person was unheard of. Mrs. Parks defied the law and did what she knew was right. She stood up for herself and back then most black people didnt do that. This is significant still today because it represents a huge turn in African American freedom. This impacts my life today because it allows me to be equal to black people. Also because i can be friends with them and not be ridiculed or afraid of my life.
Many events that could be just a rational choice could change people’s lives. One choice that was made by Rosa Parks changed the lives of many. She made a decision that took two seconds which then changed many seconds to come. Rosa decided to sit in the white section of a bus that was not offered to her, yet was the only seat left. She caused many to stick up for themselves which began the Montgomery bus boycott. In a result of this, blacks eventually got the right of sitting where ever they wanted, not only buses, but also in restaurants, libraries, and many other places. Now, many African Americans are allowed to sit where ever they want, along with receiving and accepting all of their right that are the same as whites rights. This one decision, that one inspirational person made, caused the how African Americans lived their lives for years to come. The way my day to day life is now would not be the same if it weren’t for Rosa Parks. I wouldn’t be going to the same school, I wouldn’t be going to the same restaurants, and I wouldn’t be living next door to one of the best family’s I have every meet, who are African American.

I have chosen the Rosa Parks event. Rosa Parks was a African American woman living in Montogomery, Alabama. In 1955 our country was greatly segregated between whites and blacks. There were laws that prohibited blacks from having many of the luxuries that whites had. For example, there were seperate bathrooms and drinking fountains for whties and blacks. Blacks were also expected to give up their seat on a bus to a white person. Rosa Parks was riding a bus like every other day in her life. A white man got on the bus and there were no seats open. He walked up to Rosa and she did not get up. He asked her to get up and again, she did not. Later, Rosa was arrested and thrown in jail. What Rosa Parks did was courageous. She stood up for what she believed in, her own personal rights. She inspired many people of her time and continues to inspire people of our time and will continue to inspire those in the future. In a small way her action lead up to the struggle for civil rights and eventually the passage of an act that prohibited it. She was a brillian role model for the struggling blacks in the 20th century. Without the passage of this act our world today would be very different. Who knows what it would be like. It may be still segregated. I wouldn't have many of my friends that I have today that are African American and foreign. Overall Rosa Parks has impacted America and my life with it.
Audrey
I have chosen the Dec. 1, 1959- Rosa Parks event. I think this event was significant because it was one of the major events that greatly helped the civil rights movement. It helped start the bus boycotts throught America, which also helped the cause of fighting discrimination. Back then colored people were forced to sit in the back of crowded buses. If Rosa hadn't done what she did, there would most likely be as much discrimination now as there was back then. White people would be they dominant figures in life still. And if that was true my parents would have never met and me and my brothers would've never had been born. Anyone that wasn't white would still live in horrid conditions.

I choose, “Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus”. It was a very significant to the time because it resulted in the boycott of the busses. Which shut down the bus system until the rules were changed. This started the Civil Rights movement. It is defiantly still significant today because African Americans used nonviolence to get their rights. Most people would have gone to violence to get their rights. Plus it is a reminder to all the generations that you should stick up for your rights even if it is against the law. It impacts me because this change transformed our country. We live in a country that defends civil rights it is a major part of our country’s identity. Her actions started this change and I will be forever grateful.
On December 1st, 1913 the first service station opened. This is a very interesting event because it brought us closer to the vehicles that we drive. At that time, the gas station might have been a "might win, might lose" situation. Without this first step in making gas accessible, we would probably not be driving cars in the same way we do now. Just one gas station, a multibillion dollar business had just started. It's funny how the "service station" impacts our lives today. Many adult Americans now have cars. Heck, some have two or three cars. This opens us up to the perspective that many teenagers now have cars. Gas is probably the most important thing we "give" our cars. It gets very expensive very fast. I can't imagine a time when it was an outrage that gas went up to 50 cents (forgetting inflation) a gallon. That would be a miracle now. The very first station was an important step into a much faster time.
I think all these events were very significant but i thing the one that is most important and the one that changed our society today is on Dec. 1, 1955 when Rosa Parks refused to sit at the back of the bus. At that time, blacks were treated very unfairly. They had different bathrooms, water fountains, restaurants. Which were all not as nice as the whites. They also had to sit at the back of the bus. Where it was always very bumpy and not the most comfortable place to sit. She sat near the middle of the bus, just behind the 10 seats reserved for whites. Soon all of the seats in the bus were filled. When a white man entered the bus, the driver insisted that all four blacks sitting just behind the white section give up their seats so that the man could sit there. Mrs. Parks quietly refused to give up her seat. That day she changed freedom and equality for blacks. this is still significant today because if she had not done this blacks may still have the limited rights they had in 1913.
Rosa Parks taking a stand and not moving to the back of the bus was very courageous. That day changed history. From this event Rosa Parks stood up for herself and forever changed the way black people lived. She made a change and I believe that it was one of the bravest things that someone has ever done. Rosa Parks changed the way our society treats black people. Rosa and other protesters changed a lot of things for black people. This event not only changed the way black people where treated back then but also how they are treated now. This impacts my life because before this act of courage black people were not allowed to go to school or eat in public restaurants, today they can do everything a white person can do. That is how this event has impacted my life.
Dec. 1, 1969- The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War.
Choose one of these events and tell why you think they were significant to the time they occurred as well why they are still significant today. Then, tell how your chosen event impacts your life today.
In 1969 many American men weren't planning in going to the military. Until on today in that year the first draft was implemented. this affected many back then because ittook their lives, orchanged them. It left many men with scars frombattle and post traumatic stress. However, all wars do this, but this was different. These men were voluntarily serving their country, they were forced. This is important today in 2009 because it leaves Americans with fear. As the world becomes more hectic and with more conflicts everyone is nervous that the draft will come back. I know personally that it scares me. This impacts my life because now I think of wars differently. I view this fighting as something that some men don't want. I think no soldier is better than a soldier who is not fighting for what he believes in. Lastly, it hasmade me afraid of everhaving a draft. Personally, I am somewhatafraid to fight in a warbut know that if I am called upon I must do it.
I think that the Rosa Parks Event is very significant event in out time because when she refused to give up to seat to white person. Back then this was a big deal becaue African Americans were only allowed by law to sit in the back of the bus. Rosa Parks stood up for her rights and refused to give up her seat in the front. I think that if this would have never have happened that there would still be a lot of seggration in our country.
Like everyone else, i have choose to talk about the one and only Roas Parks. The significace of a young women not giving her seat up on a bus was a big thing at the time due to the fact of slavery. The women by the name of Rosa was african american during this slavery and segregated time. On the buses, the rule was that all blacks must sit in the baack while the whites sat up front. Well tired of the rules and inequality, roas decided to boycott the laws and sit in the front of the bus. A white an then asked her to move to the back and Rosa refused making a big headline and story in the world. For one women to have the balls to refuse to do something due to the belief that the law is wrong goes a long way and i personally feel is such a great thing. Though that happened a long time ago, many people still look at the situation including myself as a great thing for society. Just her refusing to move has gaven us americans an equal and unsegregated country. Thank you Rosa Parks.

Dec. 1, 1969- The first people were drafted for the Vietnam War.
This day was an important event in America's history. It was an important event because it was the first time in America's history that men were drafted into military service. This caused many problems because the Vietnam War was a very unpopular war. Forcing young men to serve made it even more unpopular. This is significant to today because the war in Iraq is just as unpopular as the Vietnam war. It is similar to todays ar because a draft is always on the horizon. It is possible because there is a need for soldiers to find and there isn't as much voulanteers as there used to be. It is a shame that people don't have as much patriotism for there country as they use to, such as in the WW2.
Each of the three events that occured on this very day throughout history was very significant both during the time it had occured and even now in this day and age. However, I believe what Rosa Parks did on this date in 1955, was the most significant. She refused to move to the back of the bus when a white man had gotten on and wanted her seat. This unprecented event shocked the nation and caused much uproar. It was significant because during that time in U.S. history, African Americans were segregated everywhere including public transportation. When she stood up to the man on the bus, she was thrown in jail which upsetted all the African Americans and more importantly inspired many of them to come together for change. While Parks was being punished, African Americans boycotted the bus transportation. The boycott brought much needed publicity and hope for black people of America. It is still important to this day because I think that if Rosa Parks simply gave up her seat on the bus, then so many people would have never had the inspiration to come together and make a different for the rights of African Americans. America would be a very different place in the sense that the rights of colored people may still be limited. This is important to be because it goes to show you that all it takes is one person to make a diffrence in the world. She took a stand and she changed the world.
Im going to go with the Rosa Parks event. On Dec, 1 1955 Rosa Parks stood up for herself as well as every other african american in the U.S.. Rosa's stand against racism shaped the change in black rights in America. She was also seen as one of the few black women civil rights leaders. If Rosa would have backed down from the white people on the bus who knows how blacks would be treated today. However because of her and other civil rights leaders heroic acts, blacks today share the same rules and communities. Her acts of bravery did little for myself but they did impact the lives of my black family members. She helped gain equality for her race by standing up for what she believed in. Which reminds me her bravery taught me to also stand up for what i believe in.

I have chosen the Rosa Parks Event. This event is very significant to our time becuase it was one of the more major events to the protest of discrimination. She made our world change. what if she never did that? would our world still be the same as it was back then. we really will never know. When she took a stand and deicided to not listen to the white person, she was talking for all of the black community. but most improtantly for her self.
I choose the event that happened Dec. 1st 1913, the first service station opened. This was significant to its time period because this allowed the car industry to pick up a little bit. By having a place to get fuel for cars and other ways of transportation helped people get from different places also. Having a way to get gas for your car allowed people to be able to see other parts of the United States and not just their town. Today I feel like gas stations are even more important. In todays time people use cars daily just to get to work, school or other place you need to go. Especailly where we live we cant just walk to the places we have to go like in a city. We rely on cars to get us places, and cars need gas to be able to run. Gas stations impact my life a lot. Now that i'm driving, i go to one at least once a week. I rely on my car to get me to school, work, and hockey. And without having a gas station invented it would be almost impossible for me to be able to get to the places I need to go on a daily basis. That is why I think that the first service station was a big invention.

The event that i am going to choose is when the first service stationed opened. I think they were significatn because it is how people first got their gas and it made everything easier. People love when things get easier so that is also why it was important. This event is signigicant today because we still have them. Today they are way more sophisticated and complex but is way easier to operate. I think my event impacts me personally in a lot of ways. The gas station takes an important role in my life for sure. It is how i fill up my car and how i get around. If it wasnt for gas stations i wouldnt be able to drive around and hangout with my friends.

The event that I chose is Rosa Parks not moving to the back of the bus. She started the civil rights movement. I think this is the most important because if she wouldn't have done that then things would still be the same as back then. Black people probably would still be being walked all over, and not having a say in anything. I think it made us think and realize that their no different from anyone else. She made a good choice. This has impacted my life today by making me not think of other people differently. But, to care for them no matter what or who they are.

i haven chosen the rosa parks event. This event is significant to our time because it was one of the protests against discrimination. If this event didnt occur it would have took much longer to de-segergate schools, restaurants and other public places. This event has shaped the way of the world in how we look and treat others. This event has impacted mine and everyone else's life in a positive way. There would probaly still be segregated places in the world if it didn't happen
The anniversary of Rosa Park's courageous act is significant to many people. It was significant in the time it happened because there was still segregation and discrimination occurring. This segregation was still legal, and many people wanted to put an end to it. Rosa Park's brave act started bus boycotts which contributed to everyone having equal rights in the United States today. Now, segregation is illegal and no person is to be discriminated against based on race. This impacts my life today because I can go to school with African Americans and kids of other races than just Caucasian. I like being able to interact with different types of people; I think it helps you grow as a person. Thanks to Rosa Parks and many other courageous people, black and white, I can say that I live in a country where everyone is equal under law.
I choose the First Service station opened on december 1, 1913. I chose this because once this opened people needed something to put gas in. So people would go and buy cars, and drive around. Its an easy way to maintain gas. Gas is a HUGE thing today. It runs cars, lawn mowers, boats etc. Alot of things that are used in the daily life. Most people rely on their car to get to and from places. If there wasnt gas, how would we get around to far places? This impacts my daily life because i drive to school, well hannah does. I have to get to and from cheer practice. And just other things like going to the store, the doctors or the dentist.
I like the Rosa parks event. Rosa Parks choosing not to move to the back of the bus was very significant to the time. It was basically the first cry out from the African Americans saying we've has enough of this(segregation). This was a very large event in getting the Civil Rights Movement up and running. It also kicked off the bus boycotts. The reason this event is still significant today is because it was a large help in ending racial discrimination. I believe this Rosa Parks event impacts my life today, simply because so many things would be different if it were not for her and others of the Civil Rights Movement. Everything that I think is normal now might be completely different. I might be going to a whites only school or something. But because of this event of Rosa Parks, and many others, racial discrimination is not nearly as large of a problem today.
All of these events are very significant, but the one thats i like best is the Rosa Parks event. When Rosa Parks choose to not move to the back of the bus in Montgomery Alabama she was extremely brave. Her couragous decision changed our world and how we operate today. If it werent for Rosa Parks we would probably still have segregated school, restrooms, drinking fountains, restraunts and many other public places. This impacts my life today because it has changed how we treat and look at other people especially African Americans. Going to school, socializing, and playing sports with african americans doesnt phase me, but back then it would have never happen.
I am choosing to write about what happened on December 1, 1955. It was on this day that Rosa Parks chose not to move to the back of the bus in montgomery alabama. This action caused a huge movement in the history of our country, The Black Rights movement. It cant be said that without this action by Mrs. Parks that the movement wouldnt have started on its own. However, this put fire under the movement and got more people involved than before. It was important then because the movement was starting and this gave it a jump start. It is important now because we may not have been as far along as we are had this not happened. Discrimination is not nonexistent. We see it everyday all the time. Although many things have changed since 1955, we still have work to do.
Im choosing Rosa Parks, and how she didnt move to the back if the bus when she was suppose to. If she had never done that things might have never changed. By doing that Rosa set in motion many things. Blacks started to get their rights back more. It may not have happened quick but it still helped a lot. Today, people are very racist but not nearly as much as they use to be. Blacks and whites could still be seperated today but Rosa parks did something courages to change things.
I chose to talk about the opening of the first gas station. This event is very significant because it was the start of a huge change in transportation and even bigger change for the economy. The gas station made it possible for people to fuel up on the run, meaning people could travel farther and longer simply because there was more places to fuel there vehicle up at. But today the gas station is as important as gas stations were when they first came about. With gas prices so high nowaday's, its importance has'nt changed, but the high price in gas is causing companys to change its type of fuel. Gas stations are important to me because without them, i would not be able to travel far from my house with my truck. Id prolly have to use a bike to travel if i didnt have a car?
I chose the Rosa Parks event. This was significant for the fifties becasue blacks were extremely downgraded. They were considered not as good as white people. They had no rights, were segregated, and had almost no oppotunities. Worst of all this was the normal life and no one tried to change that. Rosa Parks stood up for herself and helped a national movement. In our times this is also significant because even though by law they cannot be treated unequal, in the real world they are. It may not be as public or expected, but it happenes. Even though this is still happening we now have a black president. It shows how how even though racial discrimination still happens, atleast our government changed (im not saying I like our government.)

out of these 3 major events i choose to do when the first gas station was opened. this is significant to the time becaues of the obvis point that they need ed gas to run the car they just bought. they needed the gas to run the car! (duh) this opening up did them well becaues the gas station was an easyr wat to get gas. they would also cheek your lights and wipe your windows hense the name service station. they provided the customers with service. now-a-days it is signifiant becaues it is an everyday thing to people. they are diffrent now though, the people dont come out to fill your tank and wash your windows.
