For my current event, i have decided to talk about current stock holders and the economy. Today, many people always question there decisions in investments and choices because you never exactly know which one is going to be a financial mistake. Late after the sudden drop in the Dow last year, many investors were left to wonder what else could happen to ruin their savings and investment portfolios. After hereing of these issues, many companies have tried to find ways in helping any of your financial issues. Comapanies have now made list of the different problems that could arries and how to treat these. They also have gaven information in staying away from these. Now knowing this information, they insist you take steps now and follow them before it is to late.

Today for my current event I want to blog about cell phone use related to brain tumors. The world health organization is about to revile that it has been researching the links between cell phone use and brain tumors for over a decade. Cell phone use is safe but investigations show a significant increase of some brain tumors. The radiation that comes from cell phones is what is harmful. There is much prevention to reduce the risk like switch ears frequently while using cell phone. If it is not necessary do not keep your cell phone by your head as often as possible. This pertains to me because I’m attached to my phone. It’s on me 24/7 and I also sleep with it under my pillow. It’s scary to think that using cell phones could cause brain cancer but this will probably not change how much I use my phone, at all.
The current event I chose was how witnesses didn't help a 15 year old girl that was raped outside a school homecoming dance. It is believed that a dozen people watched a 15 year old girl bet beaten and gang-raped outside her school homecoming dance without reporting it. As of Monday there was two suspects in custody; but police say that as many as five other men attached the girl over a two-hour period on Riday night outside a high school. The most disturbing part of this is that other people witnessed this and made no attempts to stop it or report it. What is wrong with our society that someone would not help this girl. I could not believe this happened in America. This girl could be your sister, cousin, etc... She didn't deserve to be attacked; and she didn't deserve not to be helped. Police say she left the dance and was walking to meet her father for a ride home when a classmate invited her to join a group drinking in the courtyard. The victim had drank a large amount of alcohol by the time the assault began. This could happen to one of your fellow class mates. It is my hope that we all learn a lesson by this terrible tragedy and not ignore any sign of violence.

There are many different events occuring around the world. One is breat cancer prevention. This month (October) is breat cancer awareness month. Many people are showing their support by wearing or displaying a pink ribbon. According to the American Cancer Society, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes. There are many things you can do to prevent yourself from becoming a statistic. Lifestyle factors such as eating a low-fat diet, exercising regularly, and increasing vitamin D intake can help reduce someone's risk of getting breast cancer. Another thing someone could do is eat more vegetables. Vegetables such as cabbage and broccoli may protect against breast cancer because they lower levels of estrogen which is a hormone that plays a role in tumor growth. Also, someone could prevent breast cancer by getting more sun. According to Science Daily, Vitamin D protects us from breast cancer by stimulating a protein that prevents breast cancer cells from growing. This can realate to my personal life. I know women who have had breast cancer. It is just terrible to see what women with breast cancer go through. After seeing how breast cancer affects women, I really want to try my hardest to prevent myself from getting breast cancer. I plan on exercising more often and eating healthier. I also plan on getting a little more sun to help increase my intake of vitamin D. In conclusion, I feel that all women should inform themselves about breast cancer and learn about ways to prevent it.

This month, which is October, is the new deadliest month in Afganistan. Today in South Afganistan, 8 U.S. troops were bombed and killed. This made this month the deadliest month since a 2001 invasion. That makes 55 United States troops killed this month. That's alot of troops, and it's not good. I thought Obama was sopossed to bring troops home. It seems like now the war is getting more violent and worse than it has been in the last few years. Many men go to war to support our country, and its sad how many don't live to make it back home. I hope the war ends soon.

for my current event i have to decided to talk about how mcdonalds has closed down in iceland because the prices for shipping goods has doubled over the years.as time passes more countries may have to say goodbye to the bigmac McDonald's, the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, arrived in Reykjavik in 1993 when the country was on an upward trajectory of wealth and expansion. The first person to take a bite out of a Big Mac on the island was then-Prime Minister David Oddsson. Oddsson went on to become governor of the country's central bank, Sedlabanki, a position that he was forced out of by lawmakers earlier this year after a public outcry about his inability to prevent Iceland's financial crisis.
as a result of this.

H1N1 flu clinics are now open in areas around us. The Swine Flu has affected everyone in some way or another. People have died from the Swine Flu. Schools have even been shut down because of the Swine Flu. With clinics being open around us we can feel safer knowing there is a way to get rid of the Swine Flu. We can feel safer knowing that we can do something to help protect ourselves against the Swine Flu. Most of all we can feel safe that we really dont have to worry about anyone else dying because of it.
http://www.clickondetroit.com/h1n1/index.html
As we have seen the past couple of weeks in school, H1N1 also known as swine flu has struck the United States hard. Since April 2007 the Swine Flu has become an epidemic and so far 46 states have had a reported case, including Michigan. Since that time around 5,000 people have been confirmed to have the Swine Flu. The scary stat that i saw on the website i was at is that 26% of all people that have gotten it is people from the ages 5-18. So what the school districts all across America are doing is if you have any type of flu then they are urging you to stay home and even if you have a fever you have to be completly healthy for 24 hours before you can come back to school. Swine Flu is very contagious so if you are in a public place stay clean by washing your hands after touching something that has been infected and a tip is to keep a little bottle of hand sanitizer with you.

For todays current event blog I chose the swine flu. In america there are 22 million doses of swine flu, now making it easier for us to get our vaccine. This connects to americans who have swine flu, because the swine flu is considered deadly and has killed abunch of poeple, they have begun to panic and fear that they need to take special precautions to protect themselves and there families. With the large amounts of flu shots out now it makes getting the shot alot easier. Also reducing the amount of panic spreadout throught the country. Now this affects me also because I have been sick the last two days and it seems that I have the flu, so im getting a flu shot soon so I can get better and return to schoo.

Three men were arrested for the murder of the University of Connecticut football player, Jasper Howard. During a dance, a fight broke out between two groups, and two were stabbed. This relates to us today because people have to be careful about starting fights. Many times I hear about someone wanting to fight, and ending up dead. An example is the boy who was beaten with a golf club, a few months ago in this area. People don't think that they are going to die when they go into a fight, but some people take things way to seriously. You may not think much of it, but the other person could be really serious about hurting someone else. Violence happens, and when people are angry they don't think rationally. The University is setting up a Jasper T. scholarship fund in his name. I think that this scholarship is a good way to remember Jasper Howard, and to let people know what happens when people act out in anger.

today for my blog, im going to talk about the war in Afganistan. Today there were 8 american casualties from a roadside bomb. I believe that the war on terror has been dragged on for too long. Im all for the nations security, and anti terrorism, but the war is just killing more americans and the middle east is still a region of tension and war. I think that obama should start withdrawing troops from over there as soon as possible. This is a big deal for me because i have many family members in the war, and many friends that are in the process of joining. But nevertheless, i think this was is too costly, both for american family's, and the american economy.http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/10/27/afghan.deaths/
For my current event, I'm going to write about how this month, October, is the deadliest month in Afghanistan. Eight American troops were killed between two separate bombings. This had made October the deadliest month since the year 2001 when they had an invasion of Taliban. The first seven American troops were killed while patrolling armed vehicles. Then the eighth American troop was killed in another bombing but in the South. This troop was also patrolling a armed vehicle. When Obama became president he said that he was going to take the troops out of Afghanistan. So far that hasn't happened, and more and more troops are being killed every month. I'm not trying to harp on Obama, all I'm saying is, is that when you say your going to do something, you should stick with it. The troops being killed are someone's sons, daughters, husbands, wives, moms and dad's, their not just some people, their someone's family. Yes, they knew what they were getting into, but if more and more troops keep on dying, were not going to have any left. I really believe that this war needs to end and that we should pull the troops out of there. Afghanistan isn't our country. We should let them do what they want, let them be their own country.

Which do you prefer, sugar cereals, or the low sugar cereals? Researchers have proven that the sugar cereals don’t contain any type of nutrition. There is 85% more sugar, 65% less fiber and 60% more sodium than the cereals with less sugar in them. The kids that eat the sugar cereal eat more of it because it is less filling and more filled with sugar. The ones with less sugar fill you up and keep you going instead of making you crash from all the sugar. Kellogg has already addressed this issue and have already tired to fill the cereals with more fiber and more nutrients. I don’t really like breakfast, but when I do eat breakfast, I like to eat the sugar loaded ones because they taste better. Although, I am trying to watch what I eat so I have a better nutrition. All in all, I think that the cereal companies need to keep cereal filled with more nutrients and less sugar because it really helps you in the long run.

For my current even, i have decided to talk about the "balloon boy". A little boy made a mylar balloon and supposidly he was inside of it when it flew into the air. It turns out though that it was fake and the little boy was hiding in the house the entire time. It's crazy that any little story that a family puts in the press ends up all over the news. Not only is it of unimportance, but basically only for publicity. It seems like anyone will do anything nowadays for fame. It makes me wonder what else on the news is fake, but just hasn't been uncovered yet.

For my current event, I decided to talk about about a new discovery about babies with birth defects. One in three down syndrome babies are murdered every year. Recent research shows that around 1,100 babies are aborted every year because of Down's syndrome, an increase from 300 since 1990. More and more women are putting off having babies until their thirties or forties. This has sparked a devastating trend. More babies with birth defects and genetic abnormalities are being conceived. Down syndrome is the most common major abnormality, in about 5,000 babies born each year in the United States. It is also estimated that one in three Down Syndrome babies are aborted every year, because of the difficulties with the child. It is sad that many people decide to have an abortion just because a baby may have down syndrome. I dont know if i could handle a baby with down syndrome because its alot more work. But then again, if its your child you would still want to have it, and to be your baby. I dont know, i dont plan on having a baby anytime soon but i found this interesting because i never really knew the effects of a down syndrome baby or what their caused from.

Ten days ago Morgan Dana Harrington went missing. Her parents are now doing anything to find her. I chose this current event because I have a huge fear of getting kiddnapped! When this kind of stuff happens it makes me realize that not everyone is nice. Some people are just out to get you. Hearing about this stuff makes me feel like I loose part of my innocence. I feel like I need to constantly be on watch making sure people arent stalking me.
Today for my current event i chose to do Three arrested in college athlete's death. A 21-year-old man was charged with murder Monday in connection with the stabbing death of a University of Connecticut football player this month. John Lomax III also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit assault, Maj. Ron Blicher of the UConn Police Department said at a news conference Monday. Lomax was in jail, with bail set at $2 million. Howard was stabbed in the abdomen in a fight after a student dance on the school's campus in Storrs, authorities said. He died at a hospital in Hartford. Two others were arrested in connection with the October 18 slaying of UConn cornerback Jasper Howard, 20. This current event relates to my life and the communities life because you are supposed to feel save at college. And when something like this happens, then it totally changes my aspect of college. So now, they will need more secruity at school dances and etc., which isnt fun.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/27/player.stabbing/index.html
There are alot of events going on in the world. For my blog I choose to do it about a man charged for killing Jasper Howard, a Connecticut football player. John William Lomax, 21 was the guy who did it. On October 18th, Howard was stabbed just after a school-sanctioned dance. He was airlifted to a Hartford hospital where he died later that morning. This could happen to anyone, for no reason. This is such a big deal now-a-days. No matter what no one should want to kill anyone, or hurt them just because. At any time this could happen. And its scary to think that it could be you next, or someone that you care for.

To night i will be talking about 15-year-old involved in a street killing of two homeless men. Thomas J. McCloud Jr. was found guilty of first degree murder in the separate slayings of 61year old Wilford "Frenchie" Hamilton and 65 year old Lee Hoffmann. A family member sobbed uncontrollably once the verdict was read. McCloud was remanded to Oakland County jail and will be sentenced Nov. 13. Another 15 year-old, Dontez Tillman, is also charged in Hamilton's death. Hamilton was found in an alley off Saginaw Street in the early morning hours of Aug. 21 by a hospital security guard who thought the man was sleeping until it was determined he was comatose, and his face had been beaten beyond recognition. He died a few days later. i think people who kill people should also be killed. :/
For my current event, I chose a doctor in Boston getting stabbed by a patient. While being treated at a psychiatric ward in Boston, Jay Carciero stabbed the female doctor treating him. An off duty security guard was nearby and threatened to shoot but Carciero didn't stop. The guard shot and killed him and the building was locked down for awhile. I think this is a very unfortunate event to happen and I feel very bad for everyone involved in this situation. This is a current event and applies to society because there are lots of crazy people in the world and it reminds people of the risks that are found in certain jobs. Anything in life is a risk but coming to work shouldn't have to be. It is a good thing that there are people in the world like the security guard that are in the right place at the right time and can help people out. I feel very bad that there are some people like the man who stabbed the doctor that are ill and can not control themselves.

Today I read, "8 U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan" on CNN. I feel so bad for the loved ones of those who've died. It's crazy to think about how they must be feeling right now. The troops dided from multiple road side bombings. 7 died in one car and one in the other. I think we need to do something to end the war as soon as possible. Obama promised he would and yet it still has not happened. I understand that these things take time, but I have not seen any moves that will put us in the right direction.

Just today the FAA had revoked the licenses of two NWA pilots. When loosing contact of there plane for about 78 minutes they had been over 150 miles past there location. During investigation the pilots admited to using laptop computers and loosing track of time. The use of laptops breaks the company's rule. The FAA got them for several things and mainly because they were reckless towards safety rules. I think they deserve that punishment because I would never want anyone that dumb to fly a plane I'm on. If you can't even keep track of time you don't need to put all those people's lives in danger.

Today I will be talking about the swine flu. Also know as H1N1. It is a very bad sickness similar to the regular flu. More then 22 million doses of swine flu vaccine are now available to most Americans. The government expects to have more then 225 million swine flu vaccines ready if needed in the future. H1N1 has killed over 1000 Americans. Swine flu has spread from major cities such as New York, Boston and parts of the southwest. Health officials cannot predict exactly what will happen in the next few months.

The current even I will be talking about today is the economy's way to recovery. Lately the housing maret has been looking up. Which is good for many people. This is especially good for the people who live around my house because many people who live around me house's are for sale. But it doesn't look like the job worries should be changing. The perecent of unemployment is under 10 perecent but it is supposed be be up to 10.5 by next year. This isn't good for many American's who are barely getting enough money as it is to feed their family and now some won't even have that. The economy is looking up in some ways but in other it is still strungling.

For my current i will talk about the afghan war. Yesterday, eight more soldiers died in combat. So far 53 soldiers have died in october. That makes it the deadliest month of the war by far. To me this brings me to the point of i think this is a stupid war. I realize that after 9/11 we had to get payback and im all for that. Nobody messes with the united states and gets away with it. I think that I got a problem with the war now because it has been eight years and we still havent found any nuclear weapons or bin laden. I think the terrorists have gotten what they deserved after eight years. Also i think this war is the main reasons that gas prices are at what they are. It is getting rediculous for the price of gas these days. To me we need to stop risking peoples lives and get out of afganistan.

A small single-engined plan crashed and killed the pilot recently in Kalamazoo. The plane went through a fence at Great Lakes Aviation. The engine blew while the plane was barely off the ground, causing it to crash into the fense bursting into flames. The only witness was Ron Bushouse (reason for knowing what happened.) I think that its a horrible thing what happened to this guy, but shows how unpredictable life is. At any moment anything can happen, and you just never know when its your time to go. I also picked this event because I will never go on a plane by choise. This event was very small and only killed one, but planes are not quarenteed no matter what anyone says. Airports have thousands of people a day, despite that fact they will be thousands of feet in the air on something man made. People are just crazy. Now I know in reality plane crashes are rare but like I said, life is unpredictable.

Charles Gray Gordon is believed to have cut off his home monitoring device. He was put on house arrest for charges of attempted murder. He cut off his device and fled the area. He is wanted on other charges as well such as impersonating a police, assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary. Police say he is armed and dangerous and to contact them for any information. I think they need to work harder to find this guy. If he is armed with a weapon, he is a danger to everyone in that area. Police should make the home monitoring devices harder to get off so that this wont happen.

Today, it was announced that President Obama is planning to invest $3.4 billion in alternative energy that will better distribute electricity to homes. The president has been a strong believer in alternative energy. At this moment, I believe that spending this kind of money will hurt the economy. Then this will slowly help the economy and the environment. In the end, people may end up spending less money for electricity. This would mean that people who could not afford to heat their homes would be able to. At this moment, I'm not sure that this would be a good use of the country's money. At this moment, all over Michigan, people are trying to create jobs to support their families. If taxes rise, then people will be forced into deeper debt. I believe that the economy has turned around slowly as the president has been in office, but this new project that could hurt us deeply.
I don't usually write about politics because I don't like the opposition between what all of us believe. I will probably try to refrain from writing about it again.

For my current event i would like to talk about the news going on in Afghanistan. The attacks in Afghanistan on tuesday followed one of the deadliest days for the US military operation in Afghanistan. Obaa has not decided whether to move more troops into Afghanistan. He is debating on whether to move tens of thousands of more troops into Afghanistan. The americans were patrolling in armored vehicles when a bomb ripped through one of them, killing seven service members and an Afghan citizen. The eighth member died in a seperate bombing somewhere else is the south, the eighth man was also driving an armored patrolled vehicle.

Last Tuesday, Democrats in the Legislature, put Climate Control in the U.S. back into veiw. The two parties are debateing on cutting emmissions while having $3.4 billion in new clean energy funds to spend. The public opinion is in definite favour of slowing global warming along with the Democrats. What the Republicans are concerned most about, is how these costs will impact the economy. The bill being discussed wants and is planning on having 80% cuts of emmissions over the next 4 decades. The main goal right now is to have these emmissions cut 20% by 2020. This affects me because it will be my generation that will have to both keep and make sure that these emmissions are cut. My family and myself will be living during this time. It is important to keep our planet clean and people healthy. I am hoping this bill passes and that we will find away to pay for it.

For my blog tonight I want to talk about the swine flu. Many people have been diagnosed with the swine flu close by. Over 22 million doeses of the vaccine are available now. So people shouldnt find it as hard to get their shot. The shortage of the shot makes it have a higher demand for it. It had be estimated by the CDC officals that the swine flu has killeda little under 1,000. But their are many people who has become very ill from it. During the summer the illness faded out. But, as soon as schools started to open from summer vacation the illness started increasing again.

Today, for my current event i would like to talk about how this month is the worst in iraq. Roadside bombs are the biggest threat to U.S soldiers as of right now. The homemade bombs, also called improvised explosive devices or IEDs, are responsible for between 70 percent and 80 percent of the casualties. Obama has sent ten thousand marines trained to disarm the bombs, to prevent any more casualties. The attacks Tuesday followed one of the deadliest days for the U.S. military operation in Afghanistan — grim milestones likely to fuel the debate in the United States over whether the conflict is worth the sacrifice. Both attacks Tuesday took place in the southern province of Kandahar, said Capt. Adam Weece, a spokesman for American forces in the south. The region bordering the Pakistan frontier has long been an insurgent stronghold and was the birthplace of the Taliban in the 1990s.
thi current event i have chosen to write about is one of Obama's many stimulus packages. now Obama wants 3.4 billion dollars to go to things such as uses for energy and a more green way to do things. yes, that is great but it's bullshit were in an economic recession and he wants 3.4 billion tax payer dollars to go into energy. how are we supposed to better things in the world if we are so economically broken. there are many people with the same opinion as mine. 22% of people have said these stimulus plans are making the economy worse. while 35% say they haven't changed anything. :(

Investigators say as much as 20 people were involved in watched a gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside a California high school homecoming dance Saturday night. There's a $20,000 reward for anyone who can help them identify the people who did it. Two teenage suspects have been locked up, but more arrests, as many as 20 are expected, according to a police detective. They say ten people were involved in it. All over today there is people who are like that. More and more people keep doing it. We just have to have more watch on big events like that.

So, I've tried to keep the current event blogs personal, and about 'kid stuff', and I'm definitly continuing it.
Its ridiculous the disrespect that people seem to have. Disrespect for people that arent like them, or eople, like me, that dye their hair crazy colors. People nowadays, are more worried about whats 'in', and making fun of the kids that are 'out'. Its funny how everyone claims they're "different", but in reality, they are pretty much the same as the person standing next to them. No, I'm not saying that I have any room to talk, but I have to admit, Im NOTHING like these girls at school. They are ALL about the latest trends, and all that bullshit. It's really ironic that people don't realize that were in high school, and they need to grow up and act there age. Cause a lot of kids tend to act like they're still in elementry school.
It made sense in my head, sorry if the sentences don't make sense. And, again, no web to cite.

Today, a woman was accused of offering sex on Craiglist. However, she wasn't just offering prostitution. She had a very specific price: World Series tickets. The 43 year old from Philidelphia advertised herself "as a buxom, blond, die-hard Phillies fan who was desperately seeking World Series tickets and would have sex to get them," say authorities. She was busted when an undercover cop reponded to the ad and the lady offered sex acts to him. It is amazing how many strange people we have in this world. It just goes to show you that you should watch out because you never know who you will run into in life. Not only that, but it shows how dangerous shopping on the internet can be. This is why parents often monitor their young kids on the internet. The world is a frightening place and you can be in serious trouble if you are not smart.

As much as we try to stay away from sports in our blogs this one i cant stay away from. The plymouth whalers, an OHL team affiliated with compuware recently played their pink out game. This game wasnt your ordinarygame, players had pink hair, pink tape, and pink uniforms all to support a good cause. All proceeds from the night were send to the barbara ann karmanos institute. Her husband Pete owns the whalers, compuware and the carolina hurricanes. I really appreciate this because theres more that goes onn than just this game. It makes me glad that other sports teams are also doing this. For the month of october the nfl teams are wearing pink shoes and bands. I really like this idea because all the mooney is going to a good cause for something that devastates families.

The current event I want to talk about is sleep deprivation in teens. Teens are supposed to get an average of about 9.5 hours of sleep every night. Most teens actually only get about 7 and a half hours of sleep per night.(this is a statistical number, more people I know probably get less) This is connected to my life because everyday I feel like no matter what time I get to bed Im always still tired at school. I notice a bounch of kids falling asleep in school in at least in one of their hours. I believe part of the problem is because we are just teens. When we were little, we didnt need as much sleep, but as teens, our biological clocks are set so that we need more sleep. It isnt our fault that we are always tired in school, its normal. I also think part of the problem is that we wake up when it is still dark out, so it messes with our bodies perception of when we need to sleep and when we need to be awake.

Rifqa Bary run away after she said that her father threatened to kill her for converting from Islam to Christianity. She returned to Ohio from Florida, but not yet to her family Her return to Ohio comes after months of legal wrangling, including the affidavit from the teenager claiming that her father was pressured by the family's mosque in Ohio. "We wouldn't do her harm," her father said, saying he knew his daughter was involved with Christian organizations. "I have no problem with her practicing any faith," Bary said, but acknowledged that he prefers that she practice Islam. A report by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement says, "Our investigation has provided no clear evidence of criminal activity." The supporters of Rifqa said they were disappointed by the ruling, but believe Jesus is with Bary no matter where she goes.
This seems to be such a stupid thing to get all worked up about. Everyone has the right as a citizen of the United States to practice the religon of their choice. I feel that the father of Rifqa would not have killed her like she said that he would. No one in their right mind would kill their child. If she was really threatened she did not have to go all the way down to Florida to get away from he father. She could have moved out and live over at friends house or ask for shelter from a church. The troubling thing about this is that we don’t know what is the real truth, a father that would kill his daughter for changing her religion or a girl that ran away be cause she assumed what her father would do if he found out about her choice. This affects us as a state, because we have a large population of people who practice Islam.

For this evening i will talk about the death of Ucon football player Jasper Howard. Howard was stabbed in the stomach when a fight broke out outside an on campus dance. Today three men were arrested for being part of his death. However that is not all i am going to talk about over this weekend the University of Connecticut faced off against West Virginia. Howard was loved and looked up to as a great friend team mate and person. The team and it's fans and even the opposing team gave howard tribute before and during the game. The teams both wore Jaspers number six on there helmet. Before the game Jaspers jersey and helmet were brought onto the field and both teams met at center field for a handshake. Then they had a moment of silence before the action took place. The Huskies played hard but west virginia was tough for them on this day. Jasper Howard may be dead but he will never be forgotten as a part of the University of Connecticut football team. I think that the sportsmanship of the west Virginia team is fantastic. They knew that Ucon lost a part of there football family an they were kind enough to pay tribute to him. Another nice thing to see is how close this football team really was. this is what sports and teams are supposed to be like a family everyone has everyones back you rise and fall together. Sportsmanship is something that is being taken from many games today with smack-talk and dirty play but the tribute and support shown by the fans and teammates of Ucon is promising.

Tonight for my current event I am going to be writing about how October is the deadliest month for deaths of soldiers in Afghanistan. Today 8 U.S. soldiers were killed in South Afghanistan. They were killed by 2 seperate road side bombs. This is the worst month for the military, in which this has been the deadliest year since the start of the war in 2001. Monday there were also 11 deaths of US soldiers and 3 DEA agents in helicopter crashes. Obama keeps saying stuff about bringing the troops back to the US, but he never does it. There has been more violence because the Obama administration sent 21,000 more US and NATO troops as reinforcements. That makes the count of 68,000 US troops in Afghanistan and 32,000 Nato troops as well.

This week, I am not gonna lie, seemed to be a pretty dry week when it came to current events. Instead of writing about swine flu, I found another topic a little more interesting. Regardless of one's views on the subject, I find the dispute between pro life supporters and pro abortion supporters. Last saturday, thousands of people gathered together in Madrid, Spain to protest against abortion. The coutry has had a huge rise in the number of abortions. The traditionally Roman Catholic country, has seen abortions double from nearly 54,000 in 1998 to 112,000 in 2007, the most recent year for available data, according to Spain's Ministry of Health. I have decided to chose this subject, because abortion has been a reoccuring dispute throughout America. This connects obviously to the lives of all Americans. Whether the government ever officially decides to legalize/illegalize abortion, the final decision could make huge differences in the USA. Furthermore, I find the dispute in Spain about abortions to be very interesting, and hopefully it will spark the American people to start thinking about their opinion on the subject and even make a final decision in the years to come.

For my current event im going to talk about the Swin Flu.(H1N1) This was a big issue a couple months ago and then it kinda faded and now its back and stronger. Many people i know have been infected with the swin flu and i think that its only going to get worse. at first i thought that people were over exagerating the issue but now that a lot of people i know have had it i think it just a matter of time before the schools start closing and people really start losing their mind about the flu. Paretns need to start making sure their kids are staying healthy, and teaching them how to wash their hands after useing the rest room. if they are going to complain about the flu then they should do something about it.

Since the president announced the swine flu a national emergency, thousands of vaccines have been distributed across the country. The flu is widespread across 46 states, but many people still cannot get the vaccine. Part of the problem is that the federal government has made many regulations that make it more difficult to create large amounts of the vaccine quickly. The supply is not near the 40 million estimated to be shipped by November. I think the government needs to do something to speed up the making of the vaccines. My family has already been hit by the H1N1 virus, and it has cost us a lot of school and work hours. The doctors would not allow me or the rest of my family that had symptoms go to school until they were almost completely gone. We have to walk around the house in masks so we stop the spread of it. If other people can get a vaccine and lower their chances of getting this too, they should. The problem is that a lot of people who want it cannot get it because of the shortage of supplies. I don't want the amount of problems this flu has brought to my family to happen to anyone else, so the government needs to get as many vaccines to as many people as possible.

Anthony Sowell was in prison for 15 years for charges of rape. After 4 years of freedom he is back in custody. Police found 6 bodies in his apartment. Now the police are wondering if he was the one responsible for other disapearances lately. Nobody knew of him having a job but he got a monthly check, but it's source is unknown.
This is creepy for one. I'd like to hope that there's nobody like this in my neighborhood. If there was than I'd probably want to move ASAP.
