Day 6

Today we began talking about Greek literature and the idea of the epic poem and the epic hero. We will continue this during the course of the week as we read "The Iliad." Part of the idea of the epic hero is that they often have some flaw that affects their ability to lead. In the begining of the reading from today it talks about the idea of the achilles heal and that everyone seems to have one. During Mr. Pouliot's class you touched on epic heroes from the movies. For tonight:

Pick an epic hero from a book, movie or tv program. Discuss what makes him and epic hero based on our definition of epic hero today. Mention what their achilles heal (no nothing to do with tendons)may be. Then discuss what your achilles heal may be. We all have one so you might have to actually think about some of your weaknesses and how they affect you. THIS MAY TAKE MORE THAN 7 SENTENCES IF YOU DO IT WELL!

I think that Will Smith's character, Robert Neville, in the movie I Am Legend can be described as an epic hero. Neville can be described as an epic hero because he wanted to find a cure to fix the "monsters" that regular people have become. The people became monsters by taking a vaccine which supposedly cures cancer. However, the vaccine doesn't treat cancer, it turns people into some sort of monster. Also, Neville realizes that he isn't the last person on Earth. When he realizes a girl named, Anna and her son are still alive, he tries to protect them. Neville's achilles heel is that he is not as strong as the "monsters" and that he cannot win a fight against them. Neville ends up getting killed by the "monsters" by trying to protect Anna and her son. A character in a movie who dies while protecting others can defintely by classified as an epic hero. Personally I have a lot of weaknesses. One of my achilles heals would be that I trust others too much. An example would be working on a group project for school. If I trust that someone in my group will do their part, I expect it to be done. However, when someone doesn't do their part I realize I put too much trust in that person, and I get let down.

My epic hero is James Bond. Now, keep in mind, he does not fight giant monsters, but he fights evil corporations which are essentially the same thing. James Bond uses gadgets and super-swift martial arts to take down his bad guys. Not only that; he uses his wit. In all of the James Bond movies, the plot is good vs. evil. James Bond has all these amazing gadgets that he uses to complete his "missions". It's not the gadget that makes the man, it's the man that makes the gadget. He uses these at the right time and always seems to escape his almost certain doom. However, since he doesn't die; he must not be an epic hero. Wrong. He doesn't die, but the organizations he fights take down people close to him in every movie. James Bond has one Achilles heel. Women. He always falls for the evil doers woman in every movie. He can't help it. Whether he seduces them or they seduce him. He cannot escape this. This sets him up for many traps and many close calls. James Bond is a decent example of an Epic Hero.

P.S.
It's spelled "heel."

for my hero i choose batman, hes from a few movies. Batmans achielies heel is that he doesnt simply kill the bad guy, and he doesnt use guns which isnt nessarly a weakness but it kinda puts him at a disadvatage which actully makes things more interesting. Now for my achiels heel, i dont like spiders at all i know its lame but its the only thing i could think of. i just dont like the way they look all big and eight legged.

I believe that Mel Gibson's character in "The Patriot" is an epic hero to an extent. His character is a epic hero simply because he is the leader of all of the milita and he is the man who is in the front lines. His achillies heel that keeps him from continuing to grow as a leader is in that he is to devoted to his family and if he is in a huge battle then he might desert his men. I believe that my achillies heel is not thinking through my actions before i do them. For example, if i get a text message that is just mindbodling i might not think through what i say and i end up saying something that pisses off whoever im texting. This is a crappy achillies heel for me to have because it really hurts some of my relationships with other people. Another reason why its a bad achillies heel is because when i get older i want to be in the business industry and if someone tells me to do something i might not react to it aswell as someone else would. Oh and i forgot another achillies heel that i have, it is i am really lazy and i procrastinate a lot. The business industry is a very fast pace market and i need to learn to get off my ass and do what is told.

I think that Indiana Jones would be considered an epic hero. Indiana Jones is both courageous and fearless. He has many journeys and fights off evil. He has also encountered super natural beings and has never lost. Indiana Jones always has to protect someone else, their lives are in his hands. Everything he does is for the greater good and he is highly respected by many people. Indiana Jones Achilles heel is that he is very afraid of snakes. My Achilles heel would be my extreme mercy and compassion for everything. Sometimes I feel like I give in too easily to some things, or at least that is what I am told. Essentially, my downfall is that I can never really say no, which makes it easy for people to take advantage of me, whether I realize it or not. I put a lot of trust into people and just end up getting dissapointed. This would also mean I fall for people easily and pretty much set myself up for destruction and getting hurt. I can not think of anything much other then that to be my achilles heel.

The epic heroe I picked is Dr. House from the tv series "House".
Dr. House is a non-conventional medical genius who heads up a team of diagnostic doctors. Each episode the doctor's are presented with an unusual case. The team of doctor's try to figure out the patient's diagnosis. Most of Dr. House's hypothesis on a patient's illness are based on controversial insights. Not all of his colleages are in agreement with him; but he is usually right and saves the patients live. Dr. House's achilles heel is that he is addicted to the pain killer Vicodin for a prior leg injury. Even though he is a medical genius and saves many people's lives; his deamon his being hooked on vicodin. My achilles heel is allowing people to manipulate me. I don't like to say "no". Ex. I always have to drive when ever going somewhere with my friends; they always have some excuse and instead of insisting it is their turn- I will drive. Gas is expensive and I shouldn't always have to be the person to drive. I wish that I could just put my foot down and make someone else drive for a chagne.

In comics, the character spider man grew to many as a very epic hero. Villane after villane spider man fought them off making his fame rise quickly. Spider man could also be looked at as a wide range traveling police officer who fights crime. Aside from his success, he also carries an Achilles heal. Looking at spider man i find not very many flaws but do feel his main one is the other villanes who do put up and give him a good fight. Other times he may get cut up or beatin up but he still shows no main achilles heal. I personally find some flaws in myself or achilles heel. One may be my mental part of me. When ever i catch myself strt to do bad in a sport or what everr, i find that my head really does get to me and screws up my game.

I think that in the movie Hancock, Will Smiths character would be considarded an epic hero. Maybe at not at the beginining of the movie but towards the end when he starts to save peoples lives instead of destroying them. But I think that he would be considared an epic hero. I think that his Achilles heel would be that he is an alcoholic. He turns to alcohol when he gets angry and then he does the bad things. But when ever he is happy and sober he can do a lot of good things for the town. My Achilles heel might be my generosity. I feel bad whenever I can't help someone else and I will probabley do basically anything in order to help a person, even if they don't deserve it.

I just finished reading a series called the Immortal Instruments, that accurately depicts the idea of and epic tale. The main character in the book was called clary. Throughout the entire book, she was fighting off evil monsters and suprenatural beings, trying to find a cure for her mother. She was courageous and a leader, even though she screwed up a lot. I would say, that her Achilles heal would be not thinking before she acts. She would often just rush into a situation, with out thinking about how dangerous it was, or what she was going to do.

I have several flaws, most of which I am aware of. If I had to pick my biggest one, it would be my co-dependency. As Beacome often points out, I am a bleeding heart. I care a lot about people, even people that I dont really know all that well. While this may not be a bad thing, it is when I end up hurting myself in order to make someone else happy that it becomes a problem.

I would classify Spider-Man as an epic hero. He is always trying to defeat evil that constantly threatens everyday life, he displays incredible courage, and he holds the lives of others in his hands constantly. Spider-Man faces things that aren't natural, for example, an alien suit that is hell bent on destroying him and his loved ones (nicknamed Venom), a man with 4 permanent robotic arms attached to his back (nicknamed Doc Ock), and a mentally unstable man who is able to control electricty (nicknamed Electro). Spider-Man's achilles heel is how much he cares for the lives of others, which is almost always exploited. I feel like my achilles heel is that I can be too trusting. People used to take advantage of my trust alot. And it made me into the person I am. I carefully pick my good friends, for example I trust Tayler Chase, Shawn Seuer, just to name a couple people. And if some one harms me, I return the favor with interest.

I think Robert Pattinson from the series Twilight and the movie is an epic hero. In the movie and the books he is constantly fighting against other vampires for Bella's safety and the safety of his family. He goes through all these battles and problems just so he can keep Bella alive and safe. For his Achilles heel he seems to have two weaknesses. The first one is obviously Bella, he would do anything for her. He puts her safety above his and everyone else. If anyone even touched Bella it would devastate him, and everyone knows this is his weakness. His second weakness is blood, he has a hard time controlling his thirst. Of course he is most attracted to Bella's blood but he loves her so much that even wanting to suck her blood can't keep them apart. I think my achilles heel would have to be that sometimes I am not confident enough. I second guess myself a lot and that tends to make situations worse sometimes. This affects me because I do not always feel good enough for people and in my school work.

I think Clint Eastwood who plays as Jed Cooper in "Hang 'Em High"
(1968) would be described as an epic hero. Jed would be an epic hroe because he was accused of murdering a rancher and stealing his cattle and it turn out that he bought the cattle and someone else killed the rancher. He ws accued by nine vigilantes and they said he was guilty and hung him. He survived and became a marshall. He is on a journey to bring the vigilantes to justice. Jed's achilles heel may be that he is trigger happy and he is more likely to kill the nine men rather than bring them to justice. My achilles heel would be that I can get very impatient sometimes. This can be negative because it would effect the people around me. For example when I was Aco buying some carbeurator cleaner to work on my boat motr my friend Brian was with me and I was frustrated that I didn't have right parts to get my motor running so after I found what I needed I kept saying come on, lets go.

The epic hero I chose is one that we talked about in class from the movie the princess bride, Inigo Montoya. In the movie, he is a Spaniard who is excellent at fencing. He spends his entire life looking for a six-fingered man who killed his father and plans to kill him for revenge. His Achilles heel is his drinking problem. The other epic hero in the movie is Westley, who spends his life trying to find his love, Buttercup. He fights with a group of kidnappers who have taken her, and go through a fire swamp filled with quicksand and giant rats. This story also includes pirates, a torture chamber and a miracle man, which adds to the mythological creatures that is necessary for these two people to be epic heroes. I think that Westley's Achilles heel is his pride. Because he will never back down to anything or anyone, and he ends up getting tortured, almost to death. However, it is also his pride that helps him save the girl, so in a way it is helpful and hurtful. Both men are on a long journey and have honor and courage. My Achilles heel may be that I try to do everything perfect, and that is impossible. Being this way always leads to disappointment, because no one is ever going to be perfect. I'm better than I was before though, and now I'm fine when I do something wrong or make a mistake. But sometimes I have to remind myself that mistakes aren't a big deal.

A few years ago I read a book series called Maximum Ride. All of the 6 main characters are considered epic heroes. The narator of the book, who is the very main character named max, is destined to "save the world." She doesnt let things get to her and she is concidered very brave. Max and her 5 other sidekicks are all "bird kids" (98% human and 2% bird) who have wings. They have to protect themselves from the "bad guys," as well as saving the world. Maxs achilles heal would be her 'family' which is the 5 other kids. If something happend to any of them it would make her weaker. My achilles heal would be letting the people who annoy me get to me. I have a problem with just ignoring what people say.

An example of an epic hero could be Luke Skywalker. Now Luke is a hero in which he is trying to discover his Jeti powers. He must be able to control his powers to save him and his friends. An epic hero always has a sworn enemy in this story line his name is Darth Vader. He must defeat him and his global outer space army to save the universe. Now Skywalkers weak spot or "Achilles heel" is known as his mixed feelings for his father. Ironically Darth Vader is his father in the long run and he has to make a choice to save him or not. My "Achilles heel" is known as my trust. If you break my trust it you break me. I have no time for people i can't trust.

An epic hero is from the movie 300. Leonites, the king of Sparta, leads his men against Xerxses and the Persians. His courageous acts in battle made him a role model and someone you would want to fight for. Leonites was looked upon by his men when they needed motivation to fight. In the end of the movie, Leonites and only 300 soldiers left from prior battles saw the end of their compaign, as they were crushed by the vast persian army. Leonites's achilles heel would be his need for perfection in every soldier of his. He stressed the importance of each soldier being capable of protecting the soldier next to him. One soldier wasnt able to hold the shield high enough, so leonites sent him packing. This would be his downfall, as the soldier told of the Spartans position to the Persians who then destroyed the Spartans. My achilles heel would be not following through with things I need to finish. I sometimes wait to do things untill the last minute and find myself in a hole.

I think that Batman is a good example of a epic hero. He is always fighting crime and evil. He always has missions and people look at him as a hero. I think Batman's achilles heel could be the fact that he only fights crime at night. This puts him at a disadvantage because he is only able to fight crime eight or nine hours a day at the most. I think that my achilles heel would be that I trust others to much and that I can't relax until some things are done. I feel that if i'm in an area that is not neat or organized then I cant relax. This sets me back because the majority of people are messy.

I think that Will Smiths character in iRobot could be described as an epic hero. He is in a world were robots are common. He doesnt like the robots and doesnt use them. He wants to find who killed some professor guy and he thinks that one of the robots did it. He kills alot of robots to try and get to the bottom of the murder. The robots are activated to take over humans so he has to save everyone pretty much. His achilles heel might be that he is human. That puts him at a huge disadvantage. I think my achilles heel is confidence. Sometimes I doubt myself and my school work. Sometimes I often overthink things and let things get to my head easily.

An epic hero is batman. He is one because he fought off evil and did what is good even if it ended bad for himself. He had two achilles heal, one that he overcame. The first was his fear of bats, he could be no where around them. However, he took that fear and used it as strength. The next was that he could not kill, he believed in justice. My heal of achilles is that I can't be intentionally be mean to someone to their face. This is bad because I can sometimes come off as two-faced.

Shrek is one of my favorite movies and he is defiantly a hero. In the movie they replay the roles of heroes and damsels in distress, so shrek is perfect for the part. What makes him so perfect for being an epic hero is because he is always fighting for his rights or his fair madden or trying to prove himself worthy for something. Shreks Achilles heal, most of the time, is him not thinking he is as great as the people he is surround by because of his appearance. I’m not any ogre, but I do have a large Achilles heal. I can never, actually, stand up for myself. I don’t let people know how I completely feel and when someone puts me down I can never stand up for myself. I hate confrontation, so anything to get out of it is good for me. I sometimes wish I were braver so people wouldn’t mess with me. I don’t know if it is a trait that you have to know me to see or if I am that easy to read, but I just know that it not only gets me in trouble outside of my home but inside my home as well. Every time I should be standing up for myself because of something unfair that my parents make me do, I don’t. This now means that I pretty much is the ideal child that really never argues back (fun for my parents and not for me). All in all, I have to work on making sure that I stand up or what is right so then I don’t end up getting pushed around.

An example of an "epic" hero would be the character Jake from Never Back Down. In the movie his character struggles to find positivity. During his struggle he also fights to protect those that he cares about. He risks his own well being so that the people he loves wont have to suffer anymore. His achilles heal is the topic of his fathers death. He feels responsible for his father dying and therefor when others bring it up his emotions take over, he cant think rationally, and he becomes very deffensive and angry. At first his fight or flight might be telling him to leave but as soon as someone brings his father up he fight. The other main character in the movie, Ryan, uses this to his advantage to get Jake to fight him so he can embarrass Jake. My achilles heal would be trust. I think i tend to trust people to much from the begining. Once they prove me wrong it takes a lot to earn it back, but being more cautous in the begining might help. I guess i have to much faith in people.

I think that Hercules from the animated movies can be described as a epic hero. Hercules is epic because he is an immortal god, he fights monsters, and bad guys to protect earth and regain his place on mount Olympus. Hercules's achilles heel is his love for megara. Because of his love for her he openly jumps into a pit of souls where he could easily die. In the end Hercules saves her and becomes a full god atop mount Olympus. Now my achilles heel is that I take alot of things wat too personal. Sometimes my friends will be just joking around and hit me, and then we will start to fight. After I calm down I will apologize to my friends and I will have to sitdown because i feel so embarassed.

I would like to choose Walt Kowalski, played by Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. As much as he did not think think that his own duties were to help and save everyone, they were. He was fighting against something he believed in. People in his community were getting robbed, killed, and raped. Initially, Walt hated everyone who lived by him, as he was very rascist, and most neighbors were colored or oriental. Once he saw a neighbor girl get abused and raped, and her brother get beaten up, he began fighting for a good cause. He quickly began confronting and criticizing all of the negative influences in the community. Waltz Achilles heel was his anger problems, and mild sense of humor. He was always irritated and caused confrontations, and next he thought very slyly, and when he went to pull out his lighter in attempt to make it look like he was pulling a gun. In walts final years he was someone who made a great difference and broke many barriers in their community. I believe my Achilles heel is also my temperment. It is very high and I am easily aggravates, it gets me off of my goal.

I believe that Harry Potter is in fact an epic hero. He battles supernatural characters on an epic quest to reach a just goal. This is the definition of epic hero. In Harry's case, he is battling good versus evil when hes is trying to stop Voldemort once and for all. His Achilles heel might be his memories. He always rethinks them. He thinks about how his parents are gone, and he remembers all his confrontations with Voldemort. Sometimes they put him at a disadvantage. He dwels too much in the past and doesn't live enough in the moment. My Achilles heel would probably be me trusting people. There are only a few certain people I trust in this world. I wont mention those people because I don't want to make anyone mad. However, I don't trust a lot of people to do the right thing. If they say they will do something, I think that chances are they won't. And if I'm not there and they say theyre doing something I wont always believe them and I will often automatically assume they are lying. This is the case with most people. I also don't trust a lot of people with my personal belongings. I feel that this is a weakness because then I could be closer to more people.

One epic hero is Hercules. He is a perfect example of an epic hero because his story actually applies with the greek gods and is all tied in. He fights against many things like those multi-headed snakes to try and defend people and prove himself to the gods. His achilles heel is his love for Meg. When he is with her he can't really think of anything else and winds up getting hurt by it. He would do anything for her, including going to the underworld to retrieve her soul. My achilles heel is forgiving people too easily. When somebody hurts me, I can't hold it against them for more than a day and forgive them right away. So I usually keep getting hurt over and over again and I never really stand up for myself which isn't a good thing.

Someone that I believe to be an epic hero is Batman. Batman is a epic hero becuase he risks his own life to try to do good for the city of Gothum. In reality he has no real super powers, just the freewill and integraty to clean up the streets and keep people safe. I think that his Achilles heal is love. I cannot recall the name of the girl but he loves her. Love makes you do stupid things, make sacrifises and lose your senses on whats right and what is wrong. When the joker takes hostage the girl batman loves batman automaticly for gets about stopping the bad guy and a trys to save her and ends up getting his ass kicked. I myself have an Achiiles heal and I am just now realizing what it is. When I find my self stressed or under alot of pressure I freeze, I give up. I have a hard time asking for help when I really do need it, which makes me suffer acidemicly and mentaly. I realize that asking for help on something I don't understand will help me do better, but I have a hard time with it becuase I hate facing the facts when i'm wrong and there is one thing someone is better than me at. I try I really do but sometimes its just not enough.

For this blog entry, I'm going to elaborate on my suggestion from earlier. I suggested that Superman has an achilles' heel. Superman is infinitely strong, can fly, and save people from the dangerous situations. Superman's tragic flaw though, is that kryptonite is poisonous to him. If superman comes in contact with kryptonite, he loses all of his strength. My achilles' heel is frustration when things don't go as planned. I can get quite angry at both myself and other people. I know that I have to work to make myself happier and less frustrated. If I do this, everybody in my life will be much happier. Everyone, indeed does have an achilles' heel.

I am also going to pick Will Smith's character, John Hancock, from the movie "Hancock". john Hancock can be described as an epic hero because he always wanted to do the right thing. However, when he would try and do the right thing, he would end up making everything worse, or perhaps destroying a building, harming a vehicle, or animal, so people considered him a monster, and most of all didn't want his help. Despite the fact that people didn't his help, when he saw trouble he would try to fix it. One day when a man named Ray Embrey's car was stuck on the railroad track when a train was coming, John came to save the day, only he ended up destroying two cars and almost harming an elder lady. When everyone started yelling and calling him an "a$$", the man Ray Embrey stood up for him and said "I am even lucky to be alive". Then this man Ray was determined to turn Hancock's bad streak around, he wanted him to be able to help people without destroying or damaging anything else. In the end, Hancock turned his bad streak around and risked his life to save a women name Mary Embrey, or in a different lifetime, his soul mate. A man that had good intentions but never actually helped anyone, to a man that actually does help people, is an epic hero. I feel that John Hancock's Achilles heel is that he gave up to easily, as well as he let people get to him. Since people were so mean to him all the time, for trying to to a good deed, he isolated himself, and never wanting to help anyone. As for my Achilles heel would be that sometimes I'm a little too nice. People just walk all over me. They can be mean to me, when trying to be funny, say stuff behind my back, and yet I don't stand up for myself in any shape or form. I really don't like that I do this, but this is just how it is. For some reason, I'd rather be hurt, then cause a bigger ordeal. Even though, I really don't like being hurt.

My epic poem hero is Kevin Costner's character Ben Randall, from The Guardian. His character is a coast guard rescue swimmer, and he is one of the most decorated and best coast guard swimmers, the coast guard has ever seen. He has saved more people than any of the other swimmers in the coast guard. After the first save in the movie, Ben Randall and his partner head out to a crew that abandoned ship becuase their ship was taking on a lot of water. When their chopper got to the distress beacon that one of the crew had on their body, Ben Randall jumped in to attach him to the basket to lift him into the helicopter. After he got the guy in the basket and told the crew man in the chopper to lift him up, and huge wave from behind the chopper came and took it out, and the helicopter went down into the dark, cold, mysterious Pacific. Because the basket was attached to the helicopter the guy in the basket went down with the chopper, and there was nothing Ben Randall could do about it. After he lit a flare he saw his dying partner floating in the water, and a raft that a c-17 dropped, helped him try keep both of them alive. Ben Randalls achilles heal was his partner, because after that faitfull night, he kept having flashbacks at the worst possible times, and that would compromise his ability to think in stressful times. My achilles heel is not being able to stand up for myself, because i never have the gut to speak for myself when im getting made fun of or yelled at by a teacher or a coach. Because i cant stand up for myself, my confidence isnt as high.

Harry Potter, is someone I would consider an epic hero from a book/movie. Harry has many characteristics of what an epic hero is today. He has corage to stand up to Lord Voldemont even when he is standing alone. Harry Potter acts way more mature then many of the other wizard and witches his age. He has taken many leadership roles where he has put himself in danger like an epic hero would. An achilles heel is someones weakness. Harry's Achille's heel could be just him being himself. I say this because some people come after him with out even knowing him and just knowing his story and how he defeated The Dark Lord. Other people like him to much too, because of these are can be like crazed fans that get in his way. My Achille's heel would be guilt toward others. I always feel bad for other people when someone is making fun of them or being mean to them. Guilt is my one weakness.

An example of an epic hero is Jack
Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean. Jack is a pirate that can't be trusted. Throughout all of the Pirates of the Carribean series it seems he is always in for things just for himself. He never thinks of anyone else and is very selfish. He encounters many super natural beings and for a time becomes on himself. Althought Jack is a very confident man he does posess an Achilles heel. He has two in my opinion. They are rum and women. These two things cause Jack to lose focus while completing some of his tasks and sometimes get him into more trouble than he already is.
I have two Achilles heels. Chocolate is one. I will do anything for chocolate. Haha well not everything. I love chocolate. My other, more serious Achilles heel is my lack of self confidence. I tend to not have much self confidence and have a low self esteem. It tends to affect the way to do certain things or how I talk to certain people. I try to over come this weakness of mine by trying new things and talking to new people.

Mr. Kay I needed to add something additional to my blog: What makes Dr. House an epic heroe is his ability to determine the diagnosis of a sick patient and safe lives. The fate of another person is in the hands of Dr. House and him being able to think outside the box and come up with a diagnosis for their sickness. At times his ability to lead is questioned by his addiction to vicodi (his achilles heel). The fate of others lie in his hands and his special abilities to come up with the correct diagnosis while thinking out of the box makes him an epic heroe to me.

THe epic hero that i pick is OPtimus PRime from Transformer. Well Optimus is definently a super natural being. He risks his life for the humans. In the movie "Hercules" they said you had to risk your own life to save another inorder to become a god. Optimus is basiclly a god to the humans. HE doesnt have many flaws but he can die. So i guess that would be his Achilles heal. My Achilles heal would probly be that i am too nice. Not to have a big ego or anything bu t i feel that if someone came to me with a problem of theres that they needed my help with i think i would have to do it. If they had the respect to come and trust me with their problem i think i should have the respect for them, to help them. Another one would probly be that i wouldnt be able to protect others and save others lives cuz im just not the hero type. I couldnt beat up the bad guy and save everyone.

An epic hero that I picked from a movie is Hercules. Based on our definition of an epic hero he is one be cause he has many characteristics of an epic hero. He fought many super natural beings and completed many impossible feat, to his strength. For example, he crushed the Hydra by causing a landslide. Even after beating many evil beings he still has an Achilles heal which is his girlfriend Meg because he would do anything to protect her. He even risked his life to save her soul from Hades.
Now that I think about it, it seems that I have several things that are my Achilles heal. One of them is my ADHDI easily get distracted. My medication helps me but when I don’t take it I feel I am not at my best. Video games are another weakness of mine. I like them so much I’d rather play them than so my schoolwork. Writing is also very difficult for me because I have dyslexia, so it is really hard to spell. Even so, I am one of the lucky ones, many people can’t over come their Achillies heal. Even though I have all these difficulties, I am doing well in school and I am looking forward to going to college.

The epic hero i would like to talk about this evening is Hercules. Hercules has a clear goal he fights strange creatures and monsters and he is fearless and courageous. He doesn't appear to have any physical Achilles heals but he does have one. His achilles heel appears to be the love for a women. He will do any thing for this women including jumping into the death river to save her but his immortality saves him from death. I think that my Achilles heel is competitiveness. i am very competitive which is a good things some of the time but is also negative sometimes as well. Because i am so competitive i get upset about losing just about everything. I try very hard to win at every thing i do and this sometimes causes me to hurt others physically and emotionally.

Will Smiths character in Hancock is an epic hero. He is always there to save little kids, and bad guys from robbing the city. He does have an achilles heal though. His achilles heal is that he is a drunk basically. Because the fact that he is always drunk when he is performing his heroic deeds, he usually destroys and damages property that was perfectly fine. So his weakness is alcohol I guess is what Im saying. My achilles heal I guess is my short temper. I have a weakness that when people say one thing that really ticks me off, I do stupid things that may be lower and more stupid than the thing that made me mad in the first place.

One of my favorite epic heroes would have to be the character played by Will Smith in Hancock. He allows his achilles heel to over come his epic status at the beginning of the movie, but successfully regains the respect of the people by the end of the movie. He saves many people's lives by protecting them from the evil criminals in the city. This character's main achilles heel is his short temper and how he reacts to anger. This led to his alcoholism and made the entire city view him as a dangerous joke. Hancock was able to overcome his achilles heel and the movie was able to end on a good note. I do not know what my main achilles heel would be. Perhaps it may be my need to make everyone else around me happy. This may seem like it is a good thing, but it definitely has its down sides. Putting every one else's feelings above mine makes it hard for me to stick up for myself and often i find that I can never be happy unless the my friends are happy. For instance, I could probably win the lottery, but if my friend was in a bad mood, I would spend my time trying to make him or her feel better, instead of celebrating. I think I just spend too much time making everyone around me happy, instead of doing the things that would make me happy.

Don't forget mr. kay, my mom had the swine flew so i was without a computer while living at my friends house.

My epic hero that I have chosen is Van Halsing. He is an epic hero in my opinion because of many reasons. In the movie he is relied upon for the killing of all sorts of evil creatures. Everything seems to revolve around him in a way, which is why he is the main character. In the movie he fights a lot of monsters, including Count Dracula. This makes the movie sort of a battle between good and evil, which is like an epic. In my opinion his achilles heel would be caring for others too much, especially the ones he loved. My achilles heel would probably be the same. I care for my friends and family way too much and I know I'd be hurt if they were.
