Day 22
Many people believe that good and evil are a part of life throughout the world, with plenty of evidence of each to some degree. What shapes each of us is how we experience these oposing elements, and how that experience affects our choices and us. Think about the three individuals who survive Arrow One's crash landing. Identify the good and bad qualities in each of them as well as the good and bad choices they make. What causes them to behave in the way they do? What kind of previous life experiences might have shaped their personalities? Based on your personal experiences what do you think your response would be to the situations they were under? What do you think would be your possibility of success under these situations? Why?

There were many good and bad qualities in the three individuals that survived Arrow One's crash landing. A good quality that the colonal possesed was leadership. Another would be his desire to keep everyone alive. A bad quality of his would be, trusting people when sometimes they should not be trusted. A good quality Pierce had is that he wanted to be rescued so he searched where they landed to find out how to get home. A bad quality he had is that he wanted to do things on his own sometimes, and he should have stayed with someone just in case anything bad were to happen. A good quality Corey had is that he had the determination to get rescued. A bad quality Corey possesed was his selfishness. The colonal made a good choice by helping everyone, and he made a bad choice by trusting Corey. Pierce made a good decison when he wanted to go search where they landed, but he made a bad choice when he decided to go off on his own. Corey didn't really make any good choices. He did however make some bad ones. For example, he stole Pierce's water and he killed the colonal. What caused them to behave the way they did was, that they were in certain circumstances which made them do things they didn't want to or needed to do. Some types of personal experiences that may have shaped their personalities are that maybe they were treated badly when they were younger, so now they treat others badly. Another experience could be that they could have been helped by someone when they needed it, so now they try to help others when others need it. Based on my personal experiences I think I would have tried to help everyone around me and tried to share all the supplies evenly. I believe my possibilty of success would be somewhat possible. If everyone shared the supplies evenly and we all tried to figure out where we were, then I think we could have found a way to get home. Everyone would just have to trust each other and follow rules. Nobody can survive without rules.

There were many good and bad qualities in each of the three people that survived the crash of Arow one. THe colonal had good leader ship. He also wanted to be able to keep everyone alive. One bad quality is he trusted corey to go with pierce. Corey ended up dead because of that. Corey had some good qualities too. HE wanted to stay alove and was willing to do whatever was needed to do so. However in the end that ended up partly being a bad quality. HE went about surviving in the wrong way. Pierce was a good at listening to the colonal. HE listened to him and did what he said. A bad quality was also trusting corey cuz corey killed him. THe colonals previous life experiance was probably one where he was the boss and knew what had to be done to get things done. Corey just wanted to stay alive so he did what he wanted to do so. Pierce was probably use to listening to the boss in previous life experiances. If i were in that sittuation i would listen to who ever is in charge. But if i knew the other people would want to kill me to survive i wouldnt trust them. I think my possibility of surviving would be pretty good. As long as i listened to whoever was in charge. I think this cuz that person would probably know what they are doing.

In Aroow Ones crashe, the three men that survived it were for the most part good people, but when your put in a position like tha you do crazy things in order to survive. In there case they thought they were on a desert astroid and the kernal did what he could to make sure everyone survived, but mr corry only thought on himself and killed the other 2 men and took there water so he could survive, but in the end he relizes they were still on earth and he feels terrible for what he done. If i was in there position, i would have just exepted death
The individuals in the episode of the Twilight Zone were definately unique and had there own characteristics. For instance the leader of the group was caring and wanted to do the best he could to help the dying man and make him comfortable. Corey was kind of a dick, all he cared about was himself. Corey killed both men in order to get a little bit of water. Pierce was kind of a follower, he stayed loyal to the colonal, and did what he could to get rescued. I think that the colonal was surrounded by leaders his whole life, therefore he was a good leader. I think that Corey was surrounded by selfishness his whole life, making him the way he was. I think that Pierce was always a follower and always had somebody there helping him through things his whole life. I think that in that situation I would have been willing to help the others, I would help the dying people instead of being an ass and leaving them for dead like Corey. I think that I definately would be doing all I could to get rescued. I think that if I had the necessary supplies I could survive. I would of been extremely pissed off when I found out we were still on earth after all that happened though.
Good and Evil were very prevalent in the twilight episode. The colonel Was very fair about the way of survival and water rations. Although being fair would ultimately lead to his death, as kind and morally right fairness is, it wont help him survive. The colonel made a good choice when he gave the dying man water, he made a bad choice when he set his gun down for Corey to take. I think previous life experiences of always following the rules and getting far in life because of that led the colonel to try and follow protocol. Corey wasn't very fair, or fair at all. he wanted all of the water for himself, although it is rude and unfair he was right in the need of survival. He made a good choice to continue walking and finding the city he made a bad choice by killing the other men. his life experience was probably a lot more competitive than the colonels. this led Corey to make sure he would survive longer than the others. Then there is Pierce, Pierce agreed with the colonel in giving the dying man water, though he seemed violent when Corey was trying to steal water. He made a good choice for standing up for the group when Corey tried to take the water, but a bad choice by reacting so violently. I feel like his life experiences were that he was a kind person who got used by others, which led him to make the decisions he did there. As for me I wouldn't kill anyone, actually i would hate to be alone where ever that place is, i would want to keep people around me. As for survival it could be a benefit or a downfall. as a group we could get more done, but by yourself you'd have more resources.
The three survivors in the Twilight Zone episode all had a quality in them that was both good and bad. The colnal had a few helpful qualities one of which them was a good sense of control and a good system for distibuting the water between of everyone. A bad quality that the colonal had was that he was way too strict on Pierce and he told the remainder of the survivors to go out without a plan. I honestly think that Pierce had zero good qualities and he was just evil at heart. Early on in the episode he showed how evil he was when he didnt want to give up water to somebody who was still alive and thats just a dick move. When Corey went out to look for needed resources he showed great determination and he also was a very good listener because he listened and followed all of the colonals orders. The only bad quality that i saw in Corey was that he was pretty much everybodys bitch. When you are in a life or death situation like they were you will be willing to do anything to survive and i think that this is why Pierce killed Corey, and why he killed the colonal. Past experiences are a big part in most peoples decisions and if you have a bad experience with somebody who leads you might not be able to trust them much. Or maybe in the colonals situation hes been leading since he can remember and thats why he took on the role of leader. If i were in a life or death situation then i would definatly try to take charge because i believe that i am a very trustworthy person and i would include everybody else in the situation. Under these situations i believe that i can be very successful because i keep my cool whenever i am under pressure and i try to keep order without being bossy.

In Arrow One's crash landing Pierson, the Colonel, and Corey were all lost somewhere they had never been to. Each of them were scared. The Colonel was the most responsible of the group. His good qualities included caring for everyone and being a leader. His bad qualities were few; he put faith in people he thought he fully trusted but in the end was let down. Pierson was also very responsible. He cared for the others as well. He also respected the Colonel. His anger was let out at some times though because of the actions of Corey. Pierson did not possess that leadership quality and so
Corey did not listen to him at all. Corey only thought of himself. He didn't care about the others; he just wanted to live as long as he could by any means(killing his fellow companions). He didn't respect Pierson and his respect for the Colonel obviously was gone by the end of the story.
The sense of loss and conditions caused them to act the way they did. The entire landscape was rocks and it was splintering hot. In these conditions often tend to make people act differently.
Many of their experiences affected the way these men acted. The Colonel had obviously had a sense of power and authority back at their home and kept that image. Corey must have been looked over many times in his life and was very bitter.
If I was put under these conditions I honestly would freak out. As they could see there was no life anywhere and their water supply was small if any. I wouldn't have known what to do or even where to start.
Overall the experience would not have been pleasant if I experienced it.

When the three men get stranded they make good and bad choices and they all have good and bad qualities. One good quality that colonal has is leadership. As soon as they landed he started to lead them. A bad quality he has is that he was too much of a dictator he didn't care what the other guys thought. The circumastance's thats he's under could cause him to act that way. In the past Colonal could have been in a leading position that could have qualified him to lead now. A good quality that Peirson had was that he was willing to listen and do what he was told. A bad quality is that he seems too passive and like he wouldnt speak his mind. Maybe this was caused by having too much on his mind. In the past he might have had a job or an experience that caused him to do a lot of critical thinking therefore he's doing it now. One of Corey's good qualities is that he was eager to get rescued. A bad quality is that he was so eager that he was willing to compromise all his morals to get rescued. Again, I think is was the circumstance that caused him to do this. Maybe in the passed he could have gone through hard times and he wouldnt want to go through anything hard again. Honestly, I dont know how I would respond to something like this. I can't even fathom it. I sometimes feel like I would be calm and chill, and have the philosphy of if I get rescued then I do if not the oh well. At the very same time that seems very impossible. Unless I was with someone with amazing servival skills then I think my success would be nothing because I have a tendancy to just not think. If I was stranded then so many things would run through my mind and it would be hard to be logical.
There were many good and bad qualities of the three who survived Arrow One's crash. In the Colonal, there was leadership. He was able to make decisions and he knew what was best for eveyone. However, he didn't have the authority to back him up, and therefore that was something that was not so good. He behaves that way becasue he was the colonal and he is used to people listening to him. He has probably gone through a lot before where he had to lead people. Corey's advantages were that he had the strong desire to get rescued. However, he didn't know too much about how to go about getting resued. He also is willing to cheat people out of their water. At least he had the perseverance to. He has probably always been someone who want to get things done. If he was in NASA or something he wqas a hard worker, but he wasn't all that smart when it came to knowing what he was doing. This is probably an experience that led him to be like that. Pierce was kind of laid back which was good. He didn't push anyone around and he didn't drink much water. However, he might have been to laid back so Corey didn't care about him. So he killed him. He has probably always been sort of a pushover, and his life experiences made him that way. I think if I were in their place I would have a good chance of survival. I would probably try to explore around the place to see if there was anything we could use to get someone's attention. However, if we were on an asteroid, no one could come to resue us, so I think i would just make the most of my time there if I knew I was gonna die.
The surviving crew of Arrow One had many good and bad qualities. The colonel had more good qualities than he had bad qualities. Some of the colonels' good qualities are he was opitimistic in being rescued, he was a good leader, and he tried to help everyone survive. Some bad qualities of his were that he trusted Corey too much, and he didn't have much common sense. Pierce also had more good qualities than bad qualities. Pierce tried to help the crewman who was severly injured stay along as possible, he also tried to contribute to the group staying alive as long as possible. He also trusted Corey too much. Corey, unlike the colonel and Pierc, had more bad qualities than good qualities. Pierce was selfish, greedy, and would've let everyone die so he could survive. I think that the colonel and Pierce acted the way they did because they were optimistic, they were calm and level-headed. Corey was scared and pesimistic. They all most likely served in the armed forces before being chosen to go into space, but something bad probably happened to Corey in his past. If I was under the situations they were I would probably try to get everyone to safety if I could. My possibility of success would most likely be decent. If someone was acting like Corey was, I would deal with them immediately. I would beat their senses back into them. Then I would try to get everyone to work as a team.
In the show, “The Twilight Zone”, the three men crashed from their space shuttle and landed on an “asteroid”. Kernel was a good leader of his troops and had the most faith in staying alive and making sure nobody got left behind. Even though he was a pretty good leader, it was his way or the high way. The one person who wanted to have a say about everything was Cory. He was a nagging, “I won’t let him drink my water, he’s dying”, kind of guy. He was very selfish and wanted to do things his way but the Kernel wouldn’t let him. Although he was egotistic, he did use his recourses well. He could have easily killed Kernel with a rock but waited till Kernel put his gun down to steel the gun and kill him. The individual that did listen to Kernel was Pierson. He did as he was told and took those orders well. He tried to help his fellow crewmembers before they died and didn’t let a soldier behind. I think his worst decision he made was going out into the desert with Cory. With these assessments the men made, they all had a reason. Like, Kernel was just trying to think the best for his crew as well as Pierson. On the other hand, Cory wanted to save his own life. Depending on how they grew up could have resulted the men’s actions. With many people, the way they were raised is how they deal with future circumstances. Based on my previous situations, I would probably go insane if I knew I was trapped somewhere unknown, especially on an asteroid. My success under these circumstances would be complete failure. I would be the one lying on the ground dead while the other would be fighting over my canteen of water. This is because I am not used to living off the land, and trying to figure out where I am located. I know where I am, on earth, and I eat and drink the food my parents provide me. This is why I would not survive in the same situation as the three men from Arrow One. So, with the men from Arrow One, does show the contrast between good and evil and how in different situations, things might thicken the differences between good and evil.

The individuals who survied the Arrow One's Crash landing were under alot of presure. Presure and fear are main ideals that can identify the good and bad choices that people make. Since the three surviors thought they were on another deserted planet, all they could really care about was keeping themselves alive. The good quality that they had was that they already a a leader of the three, and that was the general. He was older than the other two and they knew that he ment well. They knew that he was thinking of the right thing to do for everyone. Whether or not they agreed with him, thats what they were going to do. One of the other guys was very selfish and wanted all the water for himslef. He thought that if there were less people, then there would be more for him. More time to live and more water to drink. He went away from civilization by killing the other two. This was a bad choice. Obviously he was raised to go his own way more so than work together with others. Since they were out of their normal environment, this is what caused everyones behavior. If I were to be put in their shoes I would have tried to remain civil. It would'nt be true if I said that I could'nt go crazy because these people did'nt think they would and yet they did. I would think a little bit first and plan for what we should possibly do next before the chaos started, because more than likely you could be closer to home than you think.
The three individuals that survive Arrow One's crash landing all have good and bad qualities in them. A good quality in the colonal is that he trys his hardest to keep everyone alive. Also he has leadership over everyone, and uses it in a positive way. His negative quality would be his instincts. It's difficult to read someone, especially in this situation but there should of been some kind of sig to whether Corey was a good person or not. Corey had great qualities on his job. Other than that, his selfishness over ruled. Pierce also had good traits like the colonal. He put everyone else first and didn't think about his needs right away. His only bad quality would be to of trusted Corey. This wasn't his fault because you should be able to trust your crew member. Based on my personal experiences, i think that my response to the situations would of been different than all of the individuals. First off, I would of put Corey in his place. There's no room for pigheadedness when it comes to survival. My possibility of success would of been high because I would never give up. If someone needed something, whatever it was, I would do my best to help them. To have known I could of done something, but didn't, would of ate at me for the rest of my life.
The three men that landed the crash have a lot of good and bed qualities. Good qualities that the colonal possesed was that he gave water to the man that was dying. Another good one would be him wanting to keep everyone alive. Some of his bad qualities would be that he was strict, and told the others to go without a plan. A good quality that Corey had was he was determined to get rescued. But he really didn't make any good decisions. Pierce made a good decision when standing up for the group, but bad when he reacted so badly. Having a bad childhood, not having the best parents, or even not fitting in that well with other people might have been why their personalities are the whay they are. If I was in the situation they were under I probably would survive for only a week or two. I think it would be really hard, and I would give up eventually. Unless all of us really got along and shared all of the supplies.

3rd Hour.
We all have good & bad qualities in us. Situations that we are put in sometimes make the evil in us come out. The colonel had more good qualites than bad. He was a good leader, responsible, caring, and detailed. His bad qualities were that he could have been a better listener; Corey was afraid of dying and the colonel's strictness made him even more mad. Also, he should have been more careful and not left his gun unattended; he gave Corey the upper hand by being careless. Pierson good qualities were loyal, responsible, and caring. His bad qualities were his temper, and not being careful (which ultimately got him killed. Corey's good qualities were being a survivor; he had great determination. His bad qualties were greedy, desperate, liar, not a team player. The colonel made a good choice in trying to keep the situation under control; he made the right choice in giving the dying man water. He made a bad choice when he left his gun unattended, he knew that Corey was being irrational and should have been more careful. Pierson made the good choice of being a team player and listening to the colonels orders. His bad choice was going off alone with Corey and not watching his back better. Corey made the right choice to try to survive; but he chose the wrong way of going about it. The choice of killing the colonel and Pierson was bad and when he found out that they were still on earth he knew that he was wrong. The colonel behaved as a leader because that is all he knows. He must have been brought up with a lot of authority. Corey must have had issues in his life that made him selfish; maybe he always had to strife for attention at home. Pierson was a caring person and probably was brought up in a home that showed respect for others. Based on my personal experiences I would have been a team player; my survival would be based on helping the others and not losing my morals in order to live. Under these circumstances it would be a crap shoot if I were to survive; it would all depend on how the group worked together and the choices that were made.
I came to class late today, but I saw the last part of the clip, so I will do my best answering this. I only saw the last two men right before the one guy killed the other, so I'm going to write about the last man on the clip.
The man seemed to be mainly evil to me. The only good quality I saw in him was his fight and instinct to survive. His bad qualities seemed to far outweigh the good qualities he may have possessed. He was deceiving and a liar. He was not compassionate and did not seem to care much about the value of human life. In order to survive, he believed that the best thing to do was to kill his two comrades. Although this may have given him a little more water, it took away a support system, and two other people to help decide what to do. I do not think under normal circumstances that the man would have killed the other two men. The strong heat of the sun and exhausting dry desert seemed to have a large influence on his decision making process. He seemed to care more about saving himself than helping the other two men with him. Some life experiences that may have shaped his personality could have been being disrespected when he was younger. His parents may have been cruel to him or his peers may have bullied him. Based on my personal experiences, my response to the situations they were under would be to try to preserve my water and try to walk until we found somebody or somebody found us. I could never kill somebody, I just would not be able to live with myself. To be completely honest, the possibility of success for me under these situations would be pretty low. I do not have the best survival instincts, and I'm not the best in nature. Unless somebody in the group was good with aspects of surviving, I'm pretty sure the chances of survival would be pretty low.
2nd
There were many good and evil quaulities possessed in the three individuals in Twilight Zone. A good quality that the colonal had was trust. He trusted everyone on the island even if they werent worthy of being trusted. A bad choice that the colonel had was leaving his gun down for Corey to take. Coreys good quality was having determination to get off the island. A bad quality that Corey had was his selfishness. He didnt care about the others needs, he strictly thought of just himself. Pierce had a good quality of trying to get off the island, and trying to find where they landed. He made a bad choice going off on his own, because he didnt have enough water, which caused his death. I think that getting stranded on a island would have caused them to act this way. They were already stressed and wanting to get off the island, so thats why they were acting the way they were. A life experience that could of shaped their personaloties is maybe they didnt grow up in a great enviroment, causing them to act this way. Based on my personality, i think i would of been like a little bit of both. I would of tried to help the others around me, but also have been a little selfish like Corey. You cant always make sacrifices to stay alive, you also have to look out for yourself a little bit too. The possibiblty of success i think would be successful. Because if as a group, we made rules and worked together we could have a great chance of staying alive.
The three individuals who survived Arrow One's crash landing all had good and bad qualities. Corey was selfish and wanted all the water to himself. But out of the three Corey wanted to be rescued the most. Pierce always wants to do things his own way but he was trying really hard to get back home. Colonal was in charge of everyone and had a lot of leadership. Colonal is also bad at trusting the right people. Some previous life experiments of these three people could have changed the way they acted now. Previous life experiences like being treated badly when they were younger or even had bad parenting. My possibility of success under these situations would be to have good qualities and use them when they are needed for important times.

I think there was a major distinction of who was good and evil in the Arrow One's crash landing. Corey displayed evil after he killed both men for his survival. He did not make any positive choices, just selfish ones. The colonel and Pierson showed goodness by trying to keep the man who was injured alive no matter what. They were looking to save everyone, not just themselves. Corey acted the way he did in order to survive. To him, staying alive was more important then the other's lives, and more important then following the values he once had. The colonel and Pierson acted the way they did because they have they were selfless people, they thought of others as much as themselves. Prevoiusly live experiences that may have effected the way they acted would have been whether they were treated fairly or unfairly. Corey may have been left behind or forgotten about due to someone else's selfishness, which would cause him to act they way they did. The colonel and Pierson may have been raised to live with compassion, or had been shown compassion before. Based on my personal experiences, I would act as the colonel and Pierson did. Most of my life I have been treated with compassion or respect, and I would do the same if I was in this situation. The possibilty of success under this situation would be high because a lot more is done if everyone works together, rather than seperatly.
Well the good and bad qualities in each of them, im sorry i can remember their names, but the commander was a good leader because he had a leave no man behind attitude, while one of the other crew members wanted to leave on of the soliders for dead. So while all the cre members understood the seriousness of the situation, only a few of them could handle the pressure. Now what I think makes the crew behave the way they did was the heat, lack of supplies and the panick of being out of contact with the world. Now with previous life exoeriences these people could have lived normall happy lives, or they could have been abandoned as children, so obviously we dont have any information to give on that subject. Well my experience on earth has shown me that I need oxygen to breathe, and in space their is no air. So they wouldnt have been able to breathe to begin with, but besides that I would have gotten a look at the terrain to understand where I was and how im going to survive. I think that with the experiences ive had camping, I have a pretty good chance of survival.
I found that show amusing and ironic. It's crazy how different people act in life and death situations. Corey, who seemed to play the part of the villian, was selfish and willing to kill. However, he is determined and has a will to survive. He made the bad choice of killing off his allies, but the good choice of continueing to search the area. The Colonel was self-less and looked out for the group as a whole. He is a great leader. However, he jumped to conclusions about where they landed and underestimated Corey. Pierce was a follower and did everything the Colonel told him to do. Yet, it's also a plus that you can take orders, but he needs to learn when to become a leader. I think it was the way they grew up and how they handle pressure that shaped how they handle pressure that made them behave that way. I think, for all of them, that austronaut training shaped their personalities. Also, the relationships they have with others would influence how much they would be willing to do. I think in that situation I would behave pretty much like Pierce. This is because I would be too frightened to lead at that point, but wouldn't crack to the point of killing others. I do think that I could survive in that situation because I'd keep my head and think things though.

While watching the episode of Twilight Zone the three individual's who survived the Arrow One's crash landing, have both good and bad in them. First, there is the colonel. He was very kind, always put the members of his group first. He made sure that the man who was dying was comfortable, and would do everything that he could for him, until he could not do anymore. The bad in the colonel is that he trusted people, he should of known, not to trust. As for a bad choice, he shouldn't of set his gun down next to Pierce, then walk away from it, he should have taken it with him. As for Corey, he was not a good person, at all. He was mean, selfish, and just a jerk, in my view. He didn't care that one of the members from his crew was dying, he just wanted his water. A bad choice that Corey made was killing Pierce, and the Colonel. In the end, when he realized that he was in Reno, Nevada, he regretted very much killing them. Even though Corey was a jerk, he did have some good in him. A good choice that he made was to keep walking, and not giving up, and eventually figured out where he was. He was very determined to get out of the asteroid they thought they were on. He literally did everything he could. However, this resulted in killing his two people. Lastly we have Pierce. Pierce was a good man, and was very calm for someone who thought was stranded on a asteroid. A good choice that he made was he did everything the colonel told him to do, listened, and didn't start any problems. However, when him and Corey went off to go search for something to keep them survive, he should of kept his eye on Corey, so he wouldn't have killed him. He also should not have trusted him. A bad quality in Pierce was when the Colonel told him to give the dying man some water, he disagreed, strongly, but then listened even though he did not agree, that was a good choice. The reason why Corey was acting really rudely, I think was because of the situation they were in, or thought they were in. They were stranded on a asteroid, no way of getting home, no one could rescue them, no food, only 5 gallons of water, and it was really hot. Normally when people are under heat, they act stupid and say stupid things. In this case, be a jerk. I don't think that he necessarily wanted to act that way. Some personal experiences could have shaped them to act this way could be maybe when they were younger and was in a bad situation with a friend, the friend did the "Every man for himself" thing, and wouldn't help them. Another could be that they could have been treated badly when they were younger, and maybe still even now. A positive life experience could have been that they've always liked to help others, and they chose helping others before saving themselves. Based on my personal experiences and if I was in the situation, I would have tried to get everything organized and create a plan. I like when things are in order, so I know what needs to be done, and what is already done. Generally, I get a long with everyone, so I would try to keep that up. How can you survive when you can't get along or compromise with the people your stranded with? Honestly, I don't know if I would be successful or not. A situation would have to come up for me to know. this is because you never know how your going to act until your actually in the situation. We can all assume or guess how we would act based on our personalities, but everything could all change if you were in a bad situation.

I think childhood is what shapes people into good and bad. If your raised in a bad place you may form traits into bad things. These traits may not even sound bad to you. With the three guys who survived the crash the Colonel (COL) was good, Corey on the other hand bad. (COL) was caring and willing to help the other two on there survival. Corey seemed to jump to a conclusion of just every man vs. themselves. He killed another man just for five more days of water. If he waited just a few more hours or so he would have found forms of civilization. If I was one of them the first thing I would have done was hide the gun from others. I would have been equal to anyone else aswell. You should never overthink things first but wait it out for a wile then make group decisions.
That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone! -- Always loved saying that.
In this show, the three of the survivors had their own good and bad qualities. The captain/commander seemed like the most trustworthy of the three. He was the authoritative figure. His thoughts seemed to be very rational. We had Pierson, who seemed to be a person that could fallow directions well. He seemed loyal to his shipmates. Finally we had Corey, the most interesting and unique of the bunch. He seemed to have the will to survive, but he believed that he was the only one that needed to survive. In a way, he was a savage, caring only about himself and his one goal; to find a way to survive. All of the shipmates are under pressure because they are very hot, and they only had a little bit of water. I believe that the captain was heavily disciplined when he was younger. He was taught to treat others with respect and dignity. Pierson seemed to have been raised to be loyal to his people. Corey was most likely not disciplined when he was younger. He was probably hurt emotionally in his younger years. Based on personal experience, I would want to be as helpful to other people as possible. I know that nobody would be able to rescue me in time, and that I would have only days to live. If we became stranded in a situation where all communication was lost and there was very little food and water, I don't believe that there would be very much success. It does not seem likely that anyone will find us before the inevitable happened. We can only hope for the best under the circumstances that we are in.
The three characters in the Twilight episode had a lot of good and bad characteristics. The colonel had great leadership qualities: he looked out for his men, even the ones who were dying, and he tried to keep the others alive. The colonel was the best character in my opinion. Pierce had some good and bad qualities. He fought with Corey a lot, and he wanted to do things on his own a lot. Pierce made the wrong choice when he went by himself into the desert. Corey was a horrible person. He didn't want to help those that were injured, he fought with the others a lot, and he only looked out for himself. I guess the environment they were in made them act the way they did. With all the heat, rock, and desert, it could make anyone go crazy. Not to mention the fact that they thought they were never going to be found. Though, it may be more than just those things. Their own personal life experiences could've made them act the way they did and the choices they made. For instance, maybe Corey just had a bad childhood in general, a childhood that tought him to look out for only himself. Or maybe Pierce never truly any friends, which made him not a real people person. Even the colonel could've had something happen to him. For example, maybe he had a lot of brothers and sisters that he had to look out for. Personally, my choices probably would've been the same as Pierce's. I say this because im not usually a very big people person. Unless I knew the people I was with and was friends with them, then and only then I would have probably been more like the colonel. If I knew the people I was with my possibility of surviving would have been pretty good. I say this because if I know the people im with and can trust them, then I know what they are capable of and can be able to work through it with them.

All three of vthe individuals had good and bad qualities. They were lost and didnt know what to do, which caused them to think differently. The colonal was like the learder. He was the one to kind of lead the way. The Colonal didnt really have any bad qualities that showed. Pierce reallly wanted to get off the island. So his good quality would have to be that he was doing whatever it took to get off the island. His bad quality he had was he did what he wanted in a way. Like just wondering off by him self. It wasnt his best choice. Corey also want to get off the island really bad. His bad quality would be that he was selfish. I think they are behaving this way because they are somewhere different and they are fighting for their lives. PRevious experiences that might have made their personalities could be how they were raised or their family back at home. If i was put in this situation I honestly dont know how things would go. But I would try and help as much as possible to make thei success rates higher.
One of the survivors of Arrow One's crash landing is the colonel. He was the one with the big heart. Through the whole experience he was all for helping people; He was willing to give up his water for the man who was very hurt, he was willing to walk through the heat and find Pierce and he even threw out the idea to bring Pierce back home. The colonel was very sympathetic but he wasn’t concerned about surviving and acted a little irrational. Pierce was the doubtful survivor of the crash, he seemed very conservative. He wasn’t one to throw out ideas, he seemed like he agreed with the colonel but he also seemed to side with Corey. Corey wanted to risk lives to stay alive. Pierce was restrained but acting this way worked in his favor because he wasn’t picking sides and wasn’t known to be the “good guy” or the “bad guy”. Corey was the bad guy, he wanted to do everything to be rescued and live. He stole the hurt mans water; he killed Pierce and lied to the colonel, and killed him. Corey was stubborn and had apathy. He had leader like qualities which helped him to survive. Fear caused these characters to act the way they are acting; the fear of being stranded, the fear of each other, and the fear of not knowing. They reacted to the situation because of the way they live their life. The colonel might have grown up in a very giving family; therefore he had sympathy for everyone. Pierce could have lived a shy life. Corey could have lived in a very independent selfish family. Unknowingly growing up in these environments shaped their personalities. I have a very giving and loving family but I am shy sometimes around strangers. I think I would react like a mixture of the colonel and Pierce because of my personal life. I honestly don’t believe I could survive under the circumstances; I need to know everything and most of the time I am very dependent on people and I need structure.
Most of the individuals had good and bad qualities. They were were lost and didnt excatly know what they were going to do which makes you think differenty. The colonal was like the learder. He was the one leading the way. I dont think that he really had any bad qualities that showed. All Pierce wanted to do was get off teh island. So one of his good qualities is that he was doing all he could to get off the island. One of his bad qualities was he did what he wanted in a way. Like just wondering off by him self. That wasnt the smartest thing he could do. Corey also wanted to get off the island. One of his bad qualities would probably be that he was a little selfesh. I think they are behaving this way because they were in a place they hadnt been before and were trying to survive. Previous experiences that made their personalities the way they were could have been from the way they act back home. And also how they were raised by thei family. If i was put in this situation I would like to think i would know what to do but i honestly dont know, Iv never been in any situation like that before. But i do know i would help the people i was with as much as i could and try to keep everyone on the same page so we can have a chance to survive.
The surviving crew of the crashed Arrow One seemed to realize the degree of the situation pretty quickly. After they got the crew out of the crashed Arrow One, there was already some order. But Cory seemed to want to save himeself more than survive with the others. He kept trying to take the other crews water. when he realized to reality of the situation, he started to go into the survivor mode, and tried to save himself instead of the others. The General or colonel guy, the one who had the big gun near the end, already had a plan down for a better way of trying to survive. He was writting down the situation so he could sort out what to do. He knew how to conserve water and what to do. His basic training kicked in when they crashed, so he behaved like this because part of his training was surviving off of the land, or what he had around him. The other crew memeber that was alive off the start seemed to have a good idea going just like the general. He didnt like the fact that Cory was being selffish and trying to take the dead crew members water before the others could get to it. I think the calmness of the general helped keep him calm and under control. These three crew memebers seemed more of military personel instead of astronauts to me, because astronaust dont carry a rifle and they dont have pistols. They werent dressed like astronauts either. I think military backround helped shape their personalities, because the crew seemed to know exactly what to do in order to survive. Based on my personal experiences, i think my first response to this situation would have been panic, but i would have tried hard to stay calm, and keep a clear head so i could figure out the plan to survive. I think my possibility of success would be slim because it would be hard to survive in a desert, with little water, and no shade.
All of the men who survived the crash landing had mostly good qualitites except Corey, i think was his name. The other men were looking out for the whole group and not just themselves. When the one guy was dying and wanted water, the two guys gave it to him but Corey didnt want to give it to him. Corey didnt even want to give the guy a chance of survival. He figured it was a waste of water because he would die anyways.Corey's worst quality was his selfishness. He had no consideration for the group and only thought about what was best for him. When people are in situations like this, their primal behaviors start to show. Situations like this make people more aggressive and independent in most cases. If I was in this situation, I would be like Pierce and the Colonal. I would think in terms of the group and not be selfish. I would fend for myself when needed but otherwise, I would be a team player. I wouldnt try and steal water from others and I definitly wouldnt shoot someone else in the group. If everyone in the group worked together, and there was no one like corey, I think I would survive. If we didnt have a selfish person in the group, we could all do things to help everyone instead just ourselves. Teamwork and sticking together is the main priority when in a situation like this i think.

Today the Twilight episode that we watched is very easily related to the good and evil of The Lord of The Flies. The coronal possessed mostly good qualities, but wasnt perfect. For example, he was very caring and wanted to help the dying man, and give him all the water and comfort he could. He was also the leader of the group. On the other hand, the coronal's bad quality is that he is too gullible, he believed everything Corey said. A good decision that the coronal made was trying to keep the remaining men together, although this did not work out to his advantage. A bad decision that the coronal made was turning his back on Corey, allowing himself to get shot. A good quality of Pierce is that he was eager to find out where they have landed. A bad quality of Pierce is trusting Corey because he ends up killing him. A good decision that Pierce makes is to go out on a search and try to find out where they have landed, but the decision is also bad because he leaves the group. A good quality in Corey is hard to find, but if you really stretch it, I guess he is good at staying alive. Survival of the fittest. A bad quality of Corey is that he is very selfish, worrying only about himself and how he is going to live. This is again kind of a stretch, but if you look at this from Corey's viewpoint, then he made a lot of good decisions. He tried taking other people's water, and killed the other men, to in turn keep himself alive. But these decisions Corey made were also bad because if you look at it from everyone else's viewpoint, then he did not help the group at all by taking their water and killing them. The thing that caused them all to behave the way they did was because they had a HUGE misunderstanding. They thought they had crash landed on an asteroid, when in reality they were still on Earth, so they all behaved as if they were going to die. A personal experience that may have shaped the coronal into a leader could be that when he was young, his classmates in school always looked up to him and saw him as a leader, so he had high confidence as a leader. A personal experience that could have shaped the way Corey acted could have been that when he was younger he was treated as an outcast, so he wanted to do this his way and be on his own. Finally, a personal experience that could have shaped Pierce could be that when he was younger he got good grades, so he always felt the need to get himself out of problems, and solve problems using his knowledge. Based on my personal experiences I believe that my reaction to the situation would be like Corey's. I think if I really thought I was stuck on an asteroid, I would fend for myself. I think I would be successful in that situation because I wouldnt let my self die at any cost.
There is many good and bad characteristics in Ralph, Piggy, and Jack. Ralph is a good leader when things start to get bad, or dangerous, but he seems to disrespect some of the group members when they want to help out. Piggy is a very polite boy, and doesnt show disrespect to ralph when he tells him to shut up. An evil that piggy has is starting to show in him though, he is starting to go solo with the hunting for his own food, and wondering off. Jack shows good through his way of putting forth effort in trying to hunt for meat, but hes trying to win authority over ralph by sort of lying by being someonehe he isnt. Everybody acts like this probably due to the freedom of having no adult authority, and no laws. If i was in their situation, i would probably do the same, as in make a leader, but everybody gets to make laws because nobody should detirmine laws to their liking when everyody is facing life and death.
There was good and bad qualities in the guys that survived in Arrow One's Crash Landing. Colonal showed leadership. A bad quality that he has was trusting the wrong people, and he didnt think corey was going to do anything to him when they went looking for pierce. Pierce really wanted to be rescued, soo he was looking for a way to get back home. and didnt think to have someone come with him incase soemthing happened. A bad quality was he wanted things to go his way or no way. Corey felt certian that they were going to be rescued. A bad quality was he was very selfish, he didnt always make the best choices. He was more in it for himself. based on my experiences, i would have gone with pierce, to go see if there was a way off. Its not safe to go by yourself. If i was in their situtation i probably try and get everyone to work toghter, cause i know i wouldnt want to die, but i wouldnt want them to either. Sometimes theres certian things that have to be done in a group to be sucessful. I think the possibilty would be in the middle, we wouldnt know where we were at, so we dont know how long we would be on there for.
I think that everyone has a certain amount of evil in them. However I believe people have different extents of how much they can take before the evil comes. In the Twilight zone there was three men who each had different qualities. The kernel was a very caring person who wanted everyone to survive. The second man was also like that, he always went with what the kernel was saying. The third man was only concerned with keeping himself alive, therefore he displayed the most evil. I think when people feel scared they tend to only think about themselves and be a coward. There personal experiences could really shape how they act. People who have been taught to only worry about themselves, could be the people who would go to any length to save themselves. While people who are taught to car for others, they are the ones who feel a sense of responsibility to protect others. In the situation of Arrow one i think I would be really scared but I could never do what Corey did. If i knew I was going to die anyways, I could never kill to just last a few days longer. I depend on other people for help so I would want all the help I could get to survive the situation.

The three individuals all had qualities different from one another. The colonal really cared for the other two and had good leadership. A bad quality that the colonal posses is that he puts his trust into someone to easily. Good qualities for corey include his determination to keep fighting and try and survive. Things like being selfish and a dick were his bad qualities. Pierce possesed an important quality, which was being able to keep calm and use logic to figure out how to get home. On the other hand he sometimes let his anger get the best of him which caused conflict. Crash landing on an uncharted astriod might be why they acted as they did. Previous life experiences for the colonal could be things like wanting to take charge in a group. For pierce, he might of been the quite kid who was intelligent. Corey would always speak his mind, no matter how bad it offended someone.

In my opinion 2 men on the spaceship were good, one evil. The colonel or head dude was good. He was a good leader and good under bad situations. Also he was worried about everyone and wanted them all to survive. He wasnt most concerned with just him. The other guy (pierce) was kinda the not-so-important guy. He just proved a point. He wasnt evil, but not as good. Corey was who i considered evil. He was most concerned with himself, and had no cares for the other mens lives. He even killed them so he would have a better chance to survive. If anything like this would happen to me, i honestly would not want to be a leader. Not saying I would not fight to live and coroperate, i just couldnt handle the reponsibilities. I can truthfully say I would not be evil. Not saying I would be an angel, but i deffinetly would not kill, or anything like that.
Mikki Nosek
All three of the survivors from the crash of the arrow possessed both good and evil traits. For instance the kernel had the great trait of leadership. Although he was leader he did not control corey. He also cared to much about the man who was dying then the chances of his own survival. As a leader I feel it his job to take care of others as well as himself. He might have been the caption of his sports teams causing him to become a good leader. Pierce was there but didn't say much or voice his opinion. He did care about his own survival but didn't injure or hurt anybody to survive. he may have been the quiet kid who was smart but didn't say anything in class. Corey is a real Mcasshole all he cares about is himself. He was willing to hurt and kill others to benefit his survival chances the only positive about him is he is determined to stay alive. I think that my chance of survival would be good because I am street smart and can work with others well in order to survive.

Well, the captain seemed to be very focused and clear-minded. He knew exactly what they needed to do, and he didnt have a problem doing it. However, he was also ignorant. He assumed that his fellow astronauts would still be civilized. This was a silly mistake. When people are face with immediate danger, they change. Usually, they revert to a more primal instinct. Cory, was the one who did exactly that. He reverted back to his primal insticts, and that need to survive. He knew what he needed to do to survive, which was good, but unfortunately he was willing to kill in order to stay alive. I do not remember the last mans name, but he was sort of a middle. He still showed some civility by obey the captains orders, but also became very angry when cory tried to take the water from the dead man. Taking the dead mans water was a smart move. I dont understand why he was angry. Personally, I would hope that in an emeregency situation, i would be focused and calm. I have only faced one emergency situation before, and personally I think i handled it quite well. But I wasnt in danger. Someone else was. So, if I was in dnager, i cant say with certaintiy that I would be focused and calm. I can only hope that because I often think about what I would do in a life threatening situation that I would actually do it.
In Arrow One's crash landing the 3 individuals that survived had many good and bad qualities. Pierson, the Colonel, and Corey all were different and made some good and bad choices. A good quality Pierce had is that he wanted to be rescued. He searched where they landed to find out how to get home. A bad quality he had is that he wanted to do things on his own. Sometimes he should have stayed with others in casethey needed help. Corey acted the way he did in order to survive. Corey made some bad choices by his selfishess getting in the way. To him, staying alive was more important then the other shipmates. He found it more important then following the values he once had. The colonel was very sympathetic but he wasn’t concerned about surviving. The colonel acted a little irrational. He and Pierson may have been raisedto live with compassion & love. Just as their reactions you could tell they were more kind and sympathetic than Corey. Based on my personal experiences, I think i would have have been very stressed out and make bad decisions. When im pressured or stressed out, i make bad decisions. So, in this circumstance im afraid i migh act as Corey did, and fend for myself.I would like to think i would be that great person to help everyone before myslf, but i honestly don't think i would.the possibility of success under these circumstances, i think, would be low because i personally dont do well in this kind of situation. Its hard to predidctwhat you would do in these circumstances if youve never experienced something close to it. Everyone would need to communicate and make rules otherwise it would not work even more.
There were quite a few good and bad qualities in the 3 survivors of the Arrow one crash landing. The colonal had very good leadership skills till he was shot by Corey. One of his bad qualities was trying to see the good in people even if there is no good in them. Corey had very few good qualities because he was a traitor. Some bad choices he makes are; stealing Pierce's water, and shooting the colonal. Corey was selfish and only wanted everything to himself so he could survive. Pierce had some good qualities to. Pierce wanted to survive so he decided he would go and check around the crash sight to see if he could find out where they were. Some bad qualities of Pierce were he was independent and wanted to do stuff by himself, even though it would have been safer if there was someone else there with him. If I was stuck in their situation I think I woul have been like Pierce. He just listened to the colonal and followed orders. I would have helped the sick people in any way possible. I think I would be successful in this situation because I woould not have trusted anyone like Corey. I would have gone and searched to find out where we were.

Why
The survivors were posssed all kinds of traits. Colonel was someone who was a great leader. He always had some type of advice or what to do. However, colonel allowed the group to push him around. He was eventually manpulated because he had the power. Peirson was Colonels good companions. He was very loyal and outgoing, he followed what the rational moves to do were. However, he was short tempered. Corey eventualy made him mad enough to make him not look like the perfect calm person anymore. Corey was someone with more negative qualities than positive. His one defined quality was that he had determination. He was determined o get rescued one day. He also only worried about himself. He didnt want to keep rations equal and he overused their shortened amount of water. The one thing that causes all of the castaways to act up is that they were free. They took advantage of having no laws and nobody to tell them what to do. They went into chaos hen they had no rules to follow. I think that all of the men had tohave lived on structured lifeastyles before this. Once they had the freedom and power they didnt know what to do with it. I think that if this situation would have happened i would have acted like Colonel. I really think i wouldve tried my hardest to slow things down and try to stay calm. However that would be very difficult. I think my success level wouldnt have been veryhigh. As hardas it is to try to remain calm and remain order, chaos sets inwith this freedom.
The people who survived Arrow One's crash landing had many different qualities, some good and bad. Corey, although he killed two people still possessed a good quality, and that is he worked hard to try and get rescued. But, since he did kill the two people you can see he was very selfish. He killed Pierson and the Colonel for for him to have more water. And Corey also lied, he said that Pierson fell and killed himself when Corey really killed him. The Colonel seemed to be more of a leader then the other two. Also, he was determined to keep everyone alive. But, a bad quality he had was that he trusted both of the men when I don't think he should have trusted Corey. And Pierson wasn't selfish like Corey but he wasn't exactly a leader. He was sort of like Simon in Lord of the Rings, he liked to do things his own way. But, he also wanted to get rescued and worked hard to get there. I think that when your faced with possibly dying people act differently. For example, I doubt Corey would have killed people if he knew they were right by Reno. He went into a survival type mode and didn't really care how he survived, as long as he did survive. If I was in their situation I would probably be like Pierson. I would want to be rescued like him and I would want to go walking around to find out what was around me. But, I would also be scared and not really know what to do. Depending on who I was with would depend on my possibility of success. If there was a good leader in the group it would be higher then if there wasn't. But, I don't think I would have a high chance of survival because I wouldn't know what to do in a situation like that or know how to get food and water.

I thik they all have good and bad qualities. The colonal is a great leader so to speak, like ralph. He also is very fair and wants eeryone alive. A bad quality he might have is he doesnt really worry about himslef. Pierson is good because he worrys a bout the group. Also he is a good leader. His bad qualitites may be he is too trustworthy.Coreys good qualities was that he wanted to be rescued. He was also very bad because he was selfsih. The colonal made good choices by helping everyone but a bad one by trusting corey. Pierson made a good choice to go look for water but a bad one to go without colonal. Corey made a good decision to find out where they are but a bad one by killing colonal and pierson. The extreme circumstances of panic to be rescued caused them to act this way. I think that colonal was a nice guy in previous expirences as like pierson which is what they did in this situation. I think that corey may have been treated bad as a kid and thats why he acts this way. I think under these situations i would be like pierson. :I think my possibility of success under this would not be very good because id panic.

Their was no friday blog so i only did three blogs and i was planning on do fridays so i did this one.
The good qualities of the colonel are that he is a strong leader and thinks rationally. His bad qualities are that he may be too judgmental and firm. Pierson is smart but he should have been more prepared and aware of what was going on around him. Cory had good survival instincts but was only thinking about himself. Fear and panic causes them to behave the way they do. Their personalities may have been shaped by previous life experiences like their family life and the kind of socialization they had in school. My response if I was in this situation would be most like the colonel's. I could never be violent like Cory did and I would probably think things through rationally before doing something dumb. My possibility of success probably wouldn't be too great in this situation because I don't have the best survival instincts. It would depend on who I'm with at the time because I rely on others.
The three individuals to survive the crash landing of Arrow One were the colonel, cori, and pearson. The colonel was very generous and caring. Even when the man was dying he shared supplies with him. However, he didnt really consider the fact that the man was going to die no matter what. They thought they were on an asteroid and it would take a long time for anyone to find them if they ever were found. So, im not saying he should have neglected the man, but sharing vital supplies probably wasnt the best idea either. Also, he knew how insane cori had gone, so why would he leave the gun on the ground? The minute he did i knew he was going to be shot. Next is cori. He was very selfish and a little insane. He killed two men to try and survive. He knew that if they were on the asteroid they wouldnt be found and that he could survive three times as long without the other two there, so he took survival of the fittest into his own hands. Obviously, he was very selfish and only thought about himself. Once the thought that he might not survive enters his mind all morals went out the window. But, he clearly understood what he needed to survive. Maybe he grew up in a family where it was every man for themselves and he didnt get help from anyone. Last was pearson. I think he was the most reasonable between the two because he was sort of the middle man. He knew when to listen to orders even if he might not have agreed with the colonel giving the dying man water he still had sympathy for him. Also, he did what was best for the group, like hiking through the mountins to see what was around to help them survive as a unit, not just for himself. However, he may not have survived because of his kindness. Obviously it wasnt a great group to be stranded together based on the outcome. For the most part, is was coris selfishness that ruined everything.
Based on my personal experiences, i would have a very different response. First of all, i would have never thought i was on an asteroid, that was kind of dumb. As you get higher up in elevation the air gets thinner. Even if an asteroid was in earths orbit it would beso far out that you wouldnt be able to breath anyways, or at least the air wouldnt be "perfect" like the colonel said. Also, when theyre talking about how the suns size hasnt changed from when they were on earth, they should have put two and two together. I wouldnt give water to the dying man. I know it sounds mean but although i know were still on earth, we could be in the middle of the Sahara desert, we still wouldnt know how long it would take to be rescued. I would deffinitly work as a team with those who are still alive, and help those who have injuries, but not severly injured to the point where theyre about to die. I would hike the area and see if there was anything around just like they did and if this was the same exact situation it wouldnt be long till we were rescued, as long as cori isnt around offing people. Overall, if it was the exact same situation, without cori, i think i would have a pretty good chance of surviving.
(I apologize that this is so late, I told you how my internet has been down for two weeks, unfortunately this weekend I was unable to stay after school or use my neighbors computer so I came in for B lunch)
Each of the individuals that survived Arrow One's crash landing, had good and bad qualities. The colonel was the first to exibit good qualities of leadership, but one of his bad qualities was that he seemed to act too tough and was not very sensitive. Pierson also showed many good signs. He fought for the sick survivor by making sure they gave him water when he needed it He also was willing to explore and showed many signs of selflessness, but one of his bad qualities was that he was not careful enough to watch his back and make sure Corey did not attack, which led to his death. Corey showed more signs of evil than the other survivors. He was selfish and only worried about his own personal survival, even if it meant killing the other two so that he had enough water to survive longer. He did not exibit any good qualities. Their inner evil/good caused them to do the things that they do. Previous life experiences, like perhaps past leadership training may have shaped their personalities. I do not think that I would, under any condition kill another human being, but I do not think that I would be completely selfless like Pierson. I think that I would have explored and perhaps come across the telephone poles earlier and I would have realized how much of a danger Corey was. I would have tied him up and hopefully been more successful than the survivors of the Arrow One's crash landing.
The three individuals that survied Arrow One's crash landing were all very ambisous in staying alive. two of the three were very generous with the water supply when the one wanted all ofit to himself. The one who is gready leaves a man for dead just to get his cantine of water. They behave in this way becuase only the strongest survive, and will have the better chance of getting rescued. I don't know what previous experinces may have shaped there actions but i'm sure its more instint than experience. If I were in their situation than I probally would be gready just so I could surive even a day longer than everyone else, I don't want to die. I think that I would have a good chance of survial, I would consevre my water supply and hide what I had left and only fend for myself. I think this becuase when I want to something bad enough than I will fight until I get it.
