I think this quote means maybe giving for like charity or somthing will give you such a great feeling that it will make your whole day. It will make a perfect day. By giving to someone that cant repay you means you are doing somthing nice for somone else and even tho you know they cannot give anything in return you still do it because its the right thing to do and you will feel good doing it.So doing somthing nice for someone else will make a "perfect" day
This quote means a lot to me. At church I'm taught to put Jesus first then others and then finally myself. Thats what your supposed to get you joy out of. I find it very true. It makes so much sense to get joy out of others happiness. If you expect what you give out of other people then you will constantly be disapointed. I think that Ralph is expecting everyone to put effort into the island. When some of them don't see the point in the rules. I think he's excpecting too much out of the others on the island.
You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you is such an unconditional giving statment. kind of like what goes around comes around.so give fully, unconditionally, is actually so self fulfilling that you wouldnt need anyone to repay you. Give and you will recive.
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

The quote above can mean different things to different people. Personally I think this quote means that doing something for someone else and not getting anything in return is very rewarding. Doing something for someone else is more important than getting something from someone else. This quote can relate to Lord of the Flies in numerous ways. For example, Simon helped the littluns get fruit because they were too young to fend for themselves. Most likely the littluns won't be able to repay Simon in any way. To survive on an island people are going to have to make sacrifices. Some people will help others without getting anything in return. Helping someone else is more productive than thinking about yourself all the time.

This quote can mean a lot of things. But to me, this quote means that if you do something for someone else, then it feels rewarding, even if that person doesnt pay the favor back. Helping others is a great skill to have, and makes you feel good. In life, your not going to get anywhere if your selfish and only think of yourself. You honestly cant live a perfect day without doing something nice for someonelse. This quote relates to Lord of the Flies in many deiffernt ways. But one example that i can think of is when Simon helps the littluns get fruit becuase they are too young to get it themselves. The littluns probobly wont be able to repay Simon in anyway, but Simon just helped them out of the goodness in his heart. In order to survive on an island you need to make sacrifices for yourself, and not always thinking of just yourself.
This quote means, to me, not only that doing something for someone is very rewarding, but it has to be something so extraordinary sto the point where there is absolutely nothing they can do to repay you and make things even. And, in doing this, you feel a great sense of accomplishement knowing you help somone out in such a great way. This makes you feel good, so really it is a reward in itself. An example of this in the Lord of The Flies is when simon and Ralph built shelters for the whole group. Most of the group will not be able to repay them for their deeds, but I'm sure they felt a sense of accomplishment in themselves. They only want all the littluns and the other to be safe. So he doesn't want to be repaid. All he really wants is to be rescued. Overall, it is important to do things for others, becasue you will feel good about it and you will truly live a perfect day.
The quote "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." By John Wooden can mean many different things depending on how you think of it. The first thing that came to my mind was that when you do something for someone and not get anything in return is a lot more rewarding than many think. It’s a selfless act of kindness and is rewarded in its own way. This relates to lord of the flies in a few ways. One in personality, personally I think that Ralph is the kind of person that would so something for someone and not expect anything in return. On the other hand I think that Jack would do something for someone and immediately expect something in return. Another way that this quote relates to the book is when Simon helped the littluns get the fruit, he selflessly helped them get fruit because they couldn’t survive on their own, and in no way did Simon expect something in return.
This quote reminds me of my church. My pastor is always telling us during youth group that helping others will make you happy in return. Even if the person can't repay you. I've volunteered for charity before and it has made me feel extremely happy. Just knowing that I made another persons life just that much better is an awesome feeling.
It relates to Lord of the Flies somewhat. Like when Ralph and Simon make the huts. They did it to help the others even though some of them couldn't be able to repay them like the littluns.

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
John Wooden
To me, this quote is saying that you can do something for someone, and get joy out of seeing them made happy from whatever you did. You dont always have to get something in return for it to be a win win situation. It makes many people happy everyday, for example, to donate to charities, work for habitat for humanity, and not get anything in return. This is because they know they are making others happy. This quote relates to what I've read in Lord of the Flies so far in many ways. Like when Simon helped the littluns gather some fruit because they are too young to fend for themselves. He did so knowingly that he would probably not get anything in return, because they are just little kids. Also, this relates to Ralph in an opposite sort of way because he, on the other hand, expects too much out of the other people on the island, and is constantly disappointed.
I think this quote means that helping the less fortunate will give you a feeling of satisfaction. Doing something like this will complete your "perfect" day. Giving something to someone who cannot return the favor is a very rewarding feeling. All you should need is that feeling of accomplishment and helping out someone who needs it more than you do. When Simon and Ralph build shelters for the group is a great example of this. They could have been selfish and just built ones for themselves. They knew that that wouldn't have been the right thing to do so they sacrificed for the whole group. Doing something this extreme can be a big undertaking, but the feeling of accomplishment you recieve makes it easier.

I think this quote means that happiness is not a selfish act. That true happiness comes from the relationships around you, and not by yourself. And materialistic things fade and go out of season, but the intangible things are what truly makes you happy. Things like helping others that are in need of things, even a smile or a short conversation. True happiness is shared. In Lord of the Flies the first thing that came to mind was Simon. How Simon helps the littleuns get fruit or help to take care of them. Although its very unlikely that the littleuns can repay Simon he does it anyways.
This quote to me means that living a perfect day should include giving to others, not only yourself. That when you can give something to someone you should. Even if they are not able to repay you, you should still give. You have to be selfless to live a perfect day, understand that you will not always profit from giving. I think that in The lord of the Flies they will have to learn this. You will not always be able to receive something so the boys should learn to be a little less expectant of gifts. In order to survive you have to just live with what you have. You never can expect what you are going to get out of others.

This quote is exactly the model for eveyone to live by. In fact it means a lot to how i try and live my life. Whats its saying is you should try to do something everyday that is so good the person cant return the favor. It happens a lot in life and sometimes we dont even realize it. It could even be little things like helping a person who fell down the stairs and dropped their books. I:t could also be huge like stopping a mugger or saving lives. In lord of the flies because i think ralphs charcter is based on this idea. He kind of has a more laid back attitude and cares only about the group. Its like cody said when him and simon built the shelter they didnt expect anything in return. They were upset that knowone else helped but his attitude didnt change.

This quote means to me that doing a good deed doesn't mean that you are going to get something in return. When you go out of your way to do something for someone it makes you feel good. Not all people have the capabilities to pay you back. When you put a donation in the salvation red bucket it makes you feel good inside; you know that you are not going to get repaid for this deed. This relates to Lord of the Flies when Ralph goes out of his way to try and provide leadership to the boys on the island. He helps build shelters, give advise to the others, he tries to make the littluns feel safe. Ralph knows that they won't be able to give him anything in return. He feels like he has helped the boys on the island survive. Also, Simon has helped with building the shelters, not expecting anything in return. Piggy has been loyal to Ralph by giving his glasses to start a fire; knowing that he is not going to get repaid for his good deed. Even though the others don't respect Piggy he still offers his ideas and tries to help with the littleuns. What we offer to help others is from the goodness within us; not expecting to get anything in return. Just knowing you helped someone in need should be enough repayment.

To me the quote means that a perfect day is when you help others with no expectation of them helping you. It is like paying it forward. Ralph is an example of this quote, these kids will never be able to repay him for keeping them alive. Simon is another example of the quote he looks out for everybody especially the littluns. He even picks the choice fruit that they can’t reach. Piggy helps Ralph by having ideas that will better everyone, but he still whines. He whines mainly about things and the lack of respect he gets which is a bit self-centered. In the Lord of the Flies it seems like everyone else in the is in it for themselves, especially Jack.
The quote, "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you," by John Wooden is very true. It is saying that there is no such thing as a perfect day when there is others out there who are having a bad one. When you do something to help another, it makes their day better, which will add to you being a good person. When you donate things to shelters you are helping out other people that can never repay you back. But thats why you are helping them out. It makes you go to bed at night relizing that your great day helped out another also, which makes it totally worth it. This relates to Lord of the Flies in some ways. One for example, is when Simon helps the littluns get fruit form the high parts of the trees. He knows that they can't repay him, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make the day better for everyone.
This quote is saying that to have a perfect day you have to doing something for someone else and not expected or receive anything in return. And that alone should be good for you. You don’t have to receive something in order to feel good about doing something for someone ion need. By giving someone that cant repay you the favor you should feel good and happy you did someone else a favor. You should not expect something in return for everything you do. You should do it just because it was a nice gesture and you will feel better after. This relates to lord of flies in a lot of ways. One way is like how Simon helps the littleuns get fruit from the trees because they are too short to reach it. The littleuns will probly never be able to repay Simon for that. Simon just did it out of kindness and they couldn’t have survived with out his help.
This quote means that you cant have a better feeling than being able to help someone more than theyll ever be able to help you. This quote kind've relates to LOTF. I think this because none of the children have been to the point where they'd be able to help someone to the point where the other person can't repay them. The closest way this quote relates is when the fire was out and the ship was passing the island. Maybe if the fire had been lit, Jack would have had the feeling of this quote, the feeling of helping someone get rescued, and them wishing they could repay you. Or being responsible for saving a great number of children/ friends. The children in this book should be more interested in their survival and reaching the point of this quote, by helping the other children stuck on the island.
I think this quote means that doing something for someone and giving without thinking of yourself is the key to being happy. Anybody can have a good day and rely on others to do things for them but when you go out and do things for other people, thats where the real rewards are. An example is volunteering at a soup kitchen. The people you help have no way of knowing who you are or finding a way to do make it up to you and it should just feel good to help people. It gives somebody a sense of accomplishment. Ralph is an example of this in Lord of the Flies because he puts a lot of things that are for the good of the group in top priority and doesn't think about himself all the time. He stands up for Piggy even though it just makes things worse between him and Jack. Piggy also puts the little ones before himself and watches over them when he could be out on adventures with Ralph. He makes them feel loved and have a sense of belonging even when they have bad nightmares.
This quote doesn't really relate to me because a perfect day doesn't need to consist of doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you. It may be a nice thing to do but it wouldn't make it a perfect day. It really means that if you do something that someone can't repay you, then its just a good deed. An example in a book could be that Ralph is helping everybody in which they cant repay them back. So if they were to get saved they wouldn't know how to thank Ralph. Ralph brought them that far to be rescued. I know if i was stranded and i was saved because of someone else's leadership then i wouldn't know how to thank them.
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." ~John Wooden
When a person helps another person with something, be it tangible or intangible, they feel good about themselves and what they did. Being thoughtful is one thing that people like. We aren't always good to other people, so when we are, we can feel good about ourselves. In Lord of the Flies, we see this when Ralph lets Piggy speak at assemblies. We also see this when Jack shares his "catch" (the pig) with the other children. We don't see a lot of nice things happen between the boys on the island, but when it happens, it's good for everyone and it makes everyone happier.
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you" by John Wooden, means that sometimes when you are having a good day, you end up doing something good for a person that wouldn’t do something for you just because it’s the right thing to do. I was friends with someone and she was with me all the time and we were best friends. One day she completely turned against me and started acting weird and totally different from by best friend. I became the third wheel and I was being pushed away from my best friend and our “group”. I still am friends with her now, but I promised myself that I wouldn’t do anything for her again, too bad I find myself sticking up for her and help her with issues she might have. In “Lord of the Flies”, Ralph might not like the boys that are part of the Choir, but he still makes sure that are okay and safe from harm. He knows that he doesn’t want to do it, but knows it’s the right thing to do. All in all, even though people may make you sick with their dense ways, you know that helping them in sticky situations is always the right thing to do.

I personally believe that in John Woodens quote, "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you" Wooden is basically saying that in order to live a perfect day, you must find a way to be selfless and giving without worrying about what is in it for yourself. Growing up, most of us are taught to share and give to others, but it takes a genuine heart be capable of doing something for someone else without looking at how it will benefit themselves personally. In Lord of the Flies, we see may examples of selfless deeds by one of the characters, Simon, who understands that even small things can make a huge difference. He helped the littluns get fruit which helped them survive on an island where their survival seems to be of very little interest to the other boys. This quote can only truly mean relate to one who understands that life is about more than getting what you want and manipulating others around you. Life is about others around you, the relationships you create with them and the learning that the true trick to having a perfect day is doing something nice for someone else regardless if they will ever be able to repay you.

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you," said by John Wooden means that youre day isnt complete until you do some sort of good deed without alterior motives. So you can't return a lost wallet and expect a reward, you have to do it because you know its right. So far there are a few examples of this in Lord of the Flies. One would be when Simon helped the littluns get fruit. He didnt get them fruit and then say "Now you have to repay me by fanning me all day." He got them fruit because he knew they couldnt get it themselves. Another would be when Simon and Ralph build shelters for the group. Some of the others are to small to help with this task and some just don't. But, Simon and Ralph do it anyway because they know the others will need it.These are both examles from Lord of the Flies in which one or a few people did something nice for others expecting nothing in return.
I think this quote means you cant have a good day until you give to somebody in need or less fortunate. An example could be donations or charity, and even to lend a helpful hand. I think this can be related to lord of the flies because some of the kids on the island have a smaller stature than some of the older kids. This means that some of the taller kids could help out with grabbing fruit off the taller tress for them, or even helping lift some of the heavier objects for them. I also think that the leaders will have to do this if they want support from everybody else. But if the leaders dont, they could be kicked from their higher ranking.
This qoute to me means that you will never be happy or live a good life unless you help someone even tough they won't be able to repay you. This qoute reminds me of charity. If you do charity it will make you feel really good because you are doing something for someone.
This qoute relates to Lord of The Flies by how Simon helped the Littluns get fruit. If Simon did not help them they would not be able to survive without help. Another thing maybe is Ralph because he expects everybody to do their jobs. Jack is the complete opposite because he expects everybody to do something for him if he does something for them.

To me this quote is saying a lot. Just helping one person can give you a rewarding feeling. Even if you do the smallest gesture or the biggest it doesnt matter, it will be rewarding. And getting anything back isnt needed. When you do something for someone can make their day also. Ralph tries to help everyone as much as possible. He helps everyone and is the leader without anything in return.
To me, this quote means that in order to live the perfect day you must do at least one complteley unselfish act. You must do something for someone, knowing that you will probably never get anything in return. In relation to the Lord of the Flies, this deals with the way Piggy and Simon act towards the group. They constantly try to do things that will only benefit the group. Thus far, the group has only ignored and ridiculed them. Still, they keep presenting ideas knowing that they will probably just be made fun of. They do it, because they hope that someone (mainly Ralph) will listen and that it will benefit them all. Its is a very selfless act, that almost always ends in them getting hurt.
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
John Wooden
To me, this quote means that true happiness comes from helping others. I feel great when I help someone and receive a positive reaction. Helping someone else could be as simple as holding a door open for them; the littlest things makes a person's day, at least mine for that matter. By helping others I am making someone else's day as well as mine.
This quote relates to Lord of the Flies in certain ways. One example is when Simon helps the littuns get fruit from the high trees. Also, Ralph risks his life and well being many times in order to keep the boys safe (his courage to go look for the beast). Some of the boys understand this concept while others do not.
i think quote is very true. you always want to put other before youself. For me i know that doing something for someone makes me feel better. IT makes me happy knowning i didnt something good. Helping someone out is a great thing. In the book i think there is alot of examples of this quote. Like Ralph, he is excpeting everyone for who they are. Giving them chances and chances. not judgeing then
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
John Wooden
What does this quote mean to you and how does it relate to what you have read in Lord of the Flies thus far?
I think that this quote means that you will always be able to go out of your way to helpo someone and they will not be able to repay you. This perfectness should be measured in the feeling of you doing a good deed for someone. That is the real rush, and what makes your perfect day. This qoute can be seen in a few examples from lord of the flies. Also, the castaways could make more examples and be less selfish. I think that Jack could do more, he could go out of his way to help hunt and help with other things. Im sur ehe woould personally feel better if he made the effort to help someone else. Lastly, i think Ralph and Simon have good ideas in mind. They both are trying to balance their chores on the island. They help Jack look for the beast when they know he probably wont help with watchoing the fire. Also, they help the kids get fruit, since they are too small to get it themselves.
The quote is saying that in order to do something truely great and perfect, it would be for someone else and not yourself. It is saying that you would do something so great for someone else, knowing that they will never be able to do the same for you. For example, if you saved someones life. That is something that another person could never repay unless they saved yours which is an unlikely cricumstance. How the quote relates to Lord of the Flies is that no one really does anything for each other on the island. It all about themselves. The quote is saying that you can't live like that. Simon is one of the only boys to help the others. Simon knows that they won't be able to repay him but he does it anyways out of the goodness and purity of his heart.

I think this quote is saying that if you do something for charity, or homeless, or people who are in trouble, even helping someone up if they fell, will make your day perfect. That shows that you are truley a good person. And if you do good things for people, you will be treated with respect back.
Simon help the younger kids get fruit so they could eat. They cant really pay him back for what he did cause there so much younger. They probably dont even know what they could to to pay him back for that. Its just the fact that he was doing something nice for someone. Knowing that you did that, should make you feel like a better person right then and there.
To me, the quote by John Wooden "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." means that the favors you do for people on day to day basis are appreciated. Even if they dont repay you, you feel great inside doing something nice for someone else. When you do a favor for someone especially knowing that they cant repay you, it feels even better because your helping someone less fortunate than yourself. In the quote when it says you cant live a perfect day, i think its saying that if you having a bad day, doing something kind for someone would always brighten your day as well as theirs just to make others happy. This relates to Lord of the Flies when Ralph and Simon work so hard to build shelter, when its not only for them its for everyone. They just want to see everyone happy and be rescued. Even though the group cant repay them for making the shelter, their happy anyways. Doing favors for people is kind overall and you will eventually get something out of it, no matter what it never hurts to go out of your way to help others.
I think the quote means that it is a good idea to help another person out even thought they won't repay you. It is about doing a good deed from the kindnees from your heart. I think the quote relates to Lord of the Flies. It goes along with Lord of the Flies because when ever piggy does something for Ralph, Piggy is never rewarded. He does it all the time for everyone on the island by comming up with ideas on what to do. Even though his ideas are discarded and then Jack claims them as his own. Also Ralph does a good deed by standing up for Piggy when Jack picks on him for being fat.
The quote above can means that doing something for someone else doesnt mean you will always get smething in return. Doing something for someone else is more important than getting something from someone else. I can relate this quote to Lord of the Flies in many ways. For example, Simon helped the littluns get fruit because they were too young to help themselves. The littluns won't be able to repay Simon in any way. To survive on an island people are going to have to make sacrifices. Some people will help others without getting anything in return. Helping someone else is more important than getting something in return.

The quote to me has a couple different lessons you can take from it. One is that the best way to have a truly fulfilling day is by helping others. There is no better feeling than when somebody else is truly grateful of something you have done for them. The other lesson I take from this quote is that when helping others, the most gratifying thing to do is helping out in a way that the person could never repay you. It doesn’t necessarily have to be money that you are giving. Sometimes your time or talents are the best gifts to give. People can try to repay money, but if you show a level of compassion and understanding that people feel they could never give back, it impacts people more, which in turn will impact you more. I feel like this relates to the Lord of the Flies with a few of the older characters helping out the younger ones on the island. Simon helps the littluns get fruit, and even though they will not be able to repay him, it probably made him feel like a good person. Also, when Ralph and Simon build the huts for everyone, they all appreciate them greatly but will not be able to build one to repay them. The two feel like they had a great day by knowing they did something that will help a lot of people for a long time.

To me this quote means that you cannot feel good unless you share some of your happiness with someone else. If you are having a perfect day, and someone else is having a bad day and you decide to do something nice for them, you could improve their day and that in turn will just make your day that much better. It works just like Karma. What goes around comes around.
This quote should be said to everyone in america everyday. People often think of the perfect day being a day that something good happens for them. The quote is saying that the perfect day for people should be the day that they help others in need. Its saying that a day that you give to a charity, or give to a friend that is less fortunate than you should be the perfect day. When you give to someone that cant give back, you are proving that you are not selfish. This should make people feel good. The quote should be a slogan for everyone, everywere. I think that everyone should help out the less fortunate people and by doing so, this should make everyone alot happier.
I think this quote means that in order for everything to run smoothly everyone must do there part. For instance if one person on a team does every thing nothing will get done. But if all the parts are working together the team will run like a well tuned car. For instance a car can only run if all the pistons are working together to power the car. And if there aren't all working the car will break down. This quote relates to Lord of the Flies because Ralph and Simon do alot of the work and the other kids just take them for granted and don't do there jobs. I fear that if this continues they boys will die on the island.

I think that this quote is very true. If you you live your life only doing thing for people that will repay you, it kind of makes you a little greedy. If you do things for people knowing that they wont pay you back then your doing a good deed just to satisfy yourself. And it makes you feel good about yourself. Ralph took the leadership of the island so that he keep the otheres safe how can they repay him for guiding them around.
I think this quote means, you need to do things for others to make yourself feel better, and accomplished. like the greatest gift is giving. The more you give back and help others, the more you feel better about yourself. and your day will get better because you know you've done good. I think this relates to lord of the flies because Simon helps the little boys collect fruit so they can eat, with them giving him nothing in return. And when ralph builds shelters for the others. I think they feel good about helping the others and they dont care about getting anything in return.
I feel that this quote take the role of giving help to people in society. The part stating for someone whom wont be able to repy you, kinda make sence but i feel it means to do something just because it is there and theres an opportunity were somebody needs help. Aside from this it make yourself feel good and is a nice gesture. Another twist this quote that i feel may be what it means is that you litterally so something for some like donate a organ or give to charity. With this you know that you are doing something nice and that your willing to do it also knowing that they cant give back to you because they are sick or in all different ways incapable.

Mr. Kay, there isn't a blog up for Friday, and I've missed a blog this week already, so I'm not sure if you will count the Friday blog as one of my blogs. So, I went back to this blog (the one I missed) to write my fourth blog.
I think that this quote means that everyday you are going to do something for someone else that you will never be repaid for. You shouldn't always expect something everytime you do something for someone else, because sometimes that person is unable to repay you. To me, I think that helping others should be out of the good of your heart, not just doing it because you will recive something in return. I think that what goes around comes around, when you do something good for someone else, you may not get repaid at the time, but the kindness will be returned to you. In Lord of the Flies, Ralph has been helping out all of the boys. He bulit a fire, shelters, and tries his best to do everything he can to get them rescued. The boys do not repay him at all, they disobey his orders and play instead of work. Ralph has to know that not every good thing you do will be noticed and praised, but you do get the self-satisfaction of helping others. A lot of the time things Ralph did he thought went unnoticed, but many of the boys respected him for all he had done for them. Many times people do notice the kind things you do, and respect you for it.
To me I think this quote means that when you give and don't recieve it is the most rewarding of all. You may be upset if you do not get credit for doing a good deed, but in the end it pays off to be a good person. This quote can relate to Lord of the Flies in numerous ways. Like when Simon helped the littluns get fruit because they were too young to do so on the own themselves. So basically the littluns probally won't be able to repay Simon in any way, unless they are on the island until they are older. When you are stuck in a foreign place people are most likely going to have to make some sacrifices. You are going to have to help others without getting anything in return. Helping people in aleways morre benafical then getting something return.
