What does this mean? What does this mean to you? How does this relate to the Igbo society in the book?

This means that lions that are hunted cannot tell their story. The hunter of the lions will take all the pride. To me, this means that you have to take pride for your own achievements. It's very rare that other people go out of their way to praise others' achievements. This relates to the Igbo tribe because they take great pride in what they do. For example, the title system they use lets the Igbo "show off" their actions. A lot of these things are based on physical strength, such as the example they used; hunting.
The hunted, and killed will never be alive to tell their story of what went on during their killing. So the hunter is able to make up any exaggerated and amazing story he can of his killing of an animal, or maybe even a human. The tale that is told may not always be the true one given by the hunter, but I guess there is no way of knowing what actaully went on because the only other witness there was killed. In the Igbo society, not only the poaching of animals goes on, but also the killing of people. These people in their village can kill someone and act like nothing even happened because it is so normal to their customs. The killer of anyone takes a lot of pride in their doing because killing means power in their culture, and they of course are going to get the attention they think they deserve from the tale of their killing. So until there are more people around during a killing, or in their case the lion has a historian, we will never know if the glorified tale is actually true or not, or it is just being said to gain the power and attention that these people strive for.
this is saying how that when the lions lose there is no glory. If the lions are to win even then they don't get their glory. If there was a seperat story written about the lions it would include a lot of glory. I personaly this that the lions would have more glory than the hunters. The lions are often times more successful than the hunters. I think this is e plaining that you need to be sucessful in life. Once you achive that you should let it be known. If knowone knows about sucess then there won't be any.
Only hunters have the ability to tell the story. Also the hunter kills the lion and so the glory goes to him. What this means to me is that sometimes people never get to say their side of the story. Also that until surtin things have a way to communicate the story will never give any glory to them. This relates to the Ibo society is that their story is never told in the world today. Many people do not know of the Igbo today and their story never gets out. This happen many times in the world and people never know.
Until lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter.
It means that the lion cannot share its glory because it is being hunted and there is no glory in being hunted. The lion wouldn't share glory of being hunted. The lion really has no say because its being hunted and going to die. The hunter will be glorified because he will tell some sort of story of killing the lion. Also, the hunter wont feel any glory if he doesn't tell anyone. I think it means that you have to be put in the hunter's shoes to know what the feeling of that glory really is. The Igbo tribe shows off their talents and wants to be glorified. They do certain things just to be glorified.
The Igbo quote is saying that the lion in this case, will never have the ability to tell his story because he will be dead, therefore only historians will be able to. The lion can never share his true story since he is gone, so the hunter has the pleasure of exaggerating his stories to make himself. He may even seem as glorified as he wishes to when he is telling his tales. Even today, when people die there is no true way to understand the real truth of some stories because they are gone and physically cannot tell them. This leaves whoever was there to tell the story to other people, no matter how true or not true it just may be. This relates to the Igbo society in the book because killing is a sign of power and strength and is very common. Like the quote, the people of the Igbo tribe often hear from the killer rather then the real and honest story of the death. Death is so common that the people are so immuned to hearing these types of things.
I dont fully understand it. But what i think it means is the the lions will never be able to tell there story till they learn how to hunt. If they didnt they wouldnt be able to tell there story. Maybe it you have to take pride in you own actions and not follow others. YOu have to learn your own way and not expect life to be easy. You have to you for what you get. Other wise you will be hunted.

The hunting of the lions are always told as stories from the hunter. The lions are hunted and killed. The humans are the ones that make up stories and tale's about the lions. The lions are unable to tell their stories because of them being killed. But maybe it is different to the lions throught there eyes. They could believe that we are the ones being hunted and going to be killed. This quote to me means that there can be two sides to every story. Whether you hear about it or not. This relates to the Igbo society because they believe that humans are domiante. They base all this on getting titles and being the strongest in the village. They aim for power over all and want to be accepted in there village.

The hunter represents the hunt if theres no past of the hunt. What that basically means is that if nobody know what starting a tradition or way of life, the people that keep it alive will be praised. This doesn't mean that much to me but i understand and agree with it. I think this relates heavily to the society in the book. They live in a culture full of different ways of living and traditions. Allot of these things arnt really explained it's just the way. So allot of these are praised for things that they do according to there traditions.
SORRY THIS IS A FEW MINUTES LATE
If the tale is said through the hunter's point of view, the hunter is the good guy. If the tale is said through the lion's point of view, the hunter is the bad guy. This means that every one has their own point of view and no point of view is the correct one. Okonkwo could be considered the good guy in his own point of view. He could also be considered the bad guy in others' point of view because he killed six people. If this story was retold today in America, I think that Okonkwo would have been even more of a bad guy because he treats his wives poorly and he has more than one wife. Different people have different percpectives at different times in their life.
This quote tells you that when something is killed, the only story you hear is from the hunter. You also dont hear the exact details of what happend because they are uually exagerating. Thus, the hunter is always the one getting the gratification and nobody even thinks about how he/she killed someting else. The Igbo society sees things differently than ours, they would celebrate the killing even if it happend to be a human. They take pride in what they do and how they live their lives. Daily life there would make everyone kringe that lives in the U.S. because they do things that we see as unexceptable. I think that they enjoy and cherish their way of life and dont plan on changing.
I think that tbis means that hunters get respected for killing the great lions. The lions on the other hand do not have someone to translate their side of the story for their glory. i think that this is a very common quote through life. In most wars the winning side writes the books. With the past statemanet it shows that you do not get to experence the story of the other side. Ithink that this is exactly like the igbo tribe and its people. The wrestling match for example, the winner is honored but the loser is never heard about again. This quote shows how one sided people think, and is relavent throughout the book.
Sorry for it being late, completly forgot.

I think that this is about different point of views. In this case it would be from the hunters perspective. You always here stories about lions, and all of them come from hunters. You always here about how the lions are but you never actually no until you have seen one yourself. It is different for the lions. They probably see us as enemys just like we see them as enemys. They try to hunt us just like hunters try to hunt them. This relates to the Igbo society because they think that their village is the strongest of any other village.
