I'm going to go ahead and pick the obvious one: gas prices. I believe that the gas prices today are the reason we are in an economic depression. I think this is all due to greed. Foreign countries know we need the gas, so they sell it to us at a high price. I believe a worldwide regulation could be set on the prices of gas. For example, gas could never rise above $1.50 a gallon. The world would need a lot of cooperation in order for this to come true though.
I think a socail issue important in the world is how some people live. In some countries people are starving. It is weird to see how devolped america is. Then when you see other countris struggling so much with people with no cloths or houses just out on the streets. Im not sure what we can do. Would it be possible to stop spending so much money on other things and help them. Is there anything america can live without to help out any of these contries. Honeslty there has to be something. Can we donate more money to fondations for those types of things? If there is something we can i would like to no what is is.

A social issue that I think is important is the Iraq war. The Iraq was started after the attacks of September 11th. I do not think we should just pull out of Iraq. I dont think just pulling out of Iraq will solve anything. If we pull out I think the war may be over here instead of there. I would rather have the war over there than her for sure. I think we should keep helping out the Iraq citizens and help them become their own country so they can function with out us there.

Right now i think a good one is racism. The fact that your a different color, or that you have a different religion pulls people apart. I think that this issue could be easily fixed. That's just a stupid reason to hate people. How can you actually hate a whole part of people? IT'S JUST STUPIDITY. People should just not hate people for no reason, its genius. This would change if people got a little education.
A social issue that I think is important is our economy. This is big issue because it is getting harder in the world to find jobs. Also many people are also loosing jobs and their homes to. This can be solved by there needs to be more jobs open to people today. Also our economic problem can be solved by tying to end the war we are in that is costing alot of money. Also something needs to be done about the auto companies because that is how many people are loosing their jobs. If this economic problem is not solved we are in big trouble.

A social issue that world is dealing with currently all over the world is sexism. It is something I believe that is often overlooked and should not be. There are so many jobs that both men and women can be filled by but arent simply because of their sex. I think it's so unfair that women all over the world are also working the same jobs as men, but can't get paid the same amount. It makes absolutely no sense to me that if they are both doing equal work, why is it that they are not given the same dividen? This is something I really do struggle with because I personally think that everyone is created equal, and sexism is so unfair. I think to fix this problem the solution is obvious- to have the pay be the same for both men in women that have the same jobs, and also for women to have equal chance to work in any field a man does. I know that this is easier said then done, otherwise things would have changed significantly earlier in history. I hope to see in my time that sexism will one day be completely erased from society.

A social i think is important in the world and needs to change would probably be are economy. It is so much harder now to get a job. The prices on everything has gone up over the last years. With everything being so expensive we end up buying less. The value of the product goes up because many people don't wanna spend money on something so expensive. I believe that it makes it so much harder to live are everydays. Money is being saved instead of just spending it. It return stores have to raise prices so they can still stay in busniess. I feel like prices need to be lowered more.
I think that a big social issue in the world today would have to be poverty. I think that there is a lot that could be done to help or even get rid of poverty. I think that when you donate money, you should get a bigger tax break. That would defnitely encourage more people to donate more money to non-profit organizations. Some of those organizations would go towards poverty. Others would go towards newer medicine that makes new cures for things such as AIDS, Cancer, Heart Disease, etc. Many times, the people in poverty are the ones that can't afford medical insurance, therefore, if there is a cure for their symptom, they can't afford it!

i think a big social issue in the world today is the ecomany down fall. It happening in our counrty as well as almost every other counrty. It started off just a little bit. But as time goes on our countrys keep falling deeper and deeper into it. I think we can stop it by stop making all these stupid little things that we dont need. Stop spending on usless stuff. We could also all work together to help other countrys get out of poverdy. We need to stop with the war and worring about getting iraq on there feel. We need to focuse on The U.S right now. We need just as much help as they do right now. I think with a new president should be a new beginning. So hopfuly are country will make a turn around for the better.
I think the biggest issue right now is the economy. The economy in the United States is very bad. Especially in Michigan. It is so much harder to get a job than it used to be. Many people are loosing jobs as well. When you lose a job its not easy to just get another job, it is very hard right now. The war in Iraq is a big cause of this. It costs to much money.
i think a social issue that can be improved on in this world is marriage. the divorse rate in america is extremly high and has continued to rise. i read a while back that over 50% of married couples are getting divorced. quite frankly i am not shocked by this at all. for some reason every one has this idea in their heads "if it doesnt work anymore, pitch it" but my question is what ever happened to "if it doesnt work, FIX it". yes i do believe that there are some extenuating circumstances but those are not the topic. every one has their fights, every one does you will never meet one person that you will never get into some form of argument with. so just because you disagree on things is no reason to get a divorse. people get married for a reason that other person makes them happy and they are in love with that person. unless those extenuating circumstances rear their ugly head then falling out of love with that person or not being able to love them any more is a bull shit excuse. if you loved someone and then lost feelings for what ever reason that does not mean its time to go get hitched to someone else. just like a science expirement it can be repeated and your marriage can be returned to its former glory. hell even in mr and mrs. smith (yes i know its a moive this is for the sake of argument) they try to kill each other on top of their whole marriage being a sham and them lying to each other about every thing they still make it work at the end of the movie. solving this problem can be so easy all it takes is for everyone to step off their high horse and not be afraid to do something. first of all if you need help then go to counsiling those are there for a reason so use them and its alot cheaper thangetting a divorse. also a marriage is a shared things its not like the relationship between a slave and the slave master where one takes orders and does everything and the other gives order and gets fat on the others work. so every one that is sitting back and just watching the other do all the work STOP your not all hgih and mighty as you think you are so why dont you get up and take some of the load off believe me things will be much better because then you can not only save your marriage but also avoid the huge arguments that will cause you. also dont give up not everything in life works out the way you want and just because things get hard is not a sign to quit so dont. people fall in love and get marriaed but then later on they want something different, what they dont know is that if you stick it out and work through those new wants you fall in love all over again and your bond is that much greater.

I think that one of the most pressing social issues in the world is discrimination. People, whether they admit to it or deny it, discriminate against others. Be you aware of this discrimination or not, you still do it. For example, many a person will try to avoid a group of black people who wear baggy clothes and do-rags when they go to Detroit, but why? I've not an answer, but I do it, too. Perhaps it is based on skin color, perhaps not; perhaps it is based on how they are portrayed by the style of clothes they wear, perhaps not. Perhaps it is bullshit.
The sexism, racism, discrimination, and inequality in today's society disgusts me. And I couldn't be saying this if I wasn't a hypocrite, because I contribute to the problem as well.
I think the biggest social issue in Michigan is all the jobs that we have lost. We need to obviously work on bringing more work in Michigan than sending it into other countries. Industries choose to get their products made as cheaply as possible, which is a logical choice for anyone. The decision to go cheap sends jobs away to other countries whose workers make hardly any money. We should pass laws making it illegal to make products out of the country and being sent back. Also, the government should give out more grants to people for starting a new business. I believe if they did those two things it would bring alot more money for the economy and also bring more jobs.
One huge issue our country seems to struggle with more and more everyday is self-image. Girls and Guys al ages all deal with the idea that what society says is the image of perfection, is what we need to become closest to looking to be "beautiful." To me beauty is so many things about you, and thatis the complete opposite of what society tells us everday. In magazines, on the news, media, pop culture, everywhere we look, perfection is being emphasized and pushed on us so much. We tend to forget that inner beauty should be what makes us a beautiful person, not just pur physical features. Building character and love and empathy for others is what we should be putting our energy in to build our "perfection" up. So many of us we waste so much of our time in ths country on our physical image and trying to win in this competition called beauty. I think to fix this media needs to stop emphasizing on what they think is beauty, and just let others decide for themselves what tey believe is beautiful,so we can become the most beautiful people in and out that think we can be from our own opinions. We can have a variety of people as role models and examples to younger people, showing God made us all diverse, and that is how real people are going to be like, not all looking and acting exactly the same.

I think one of the biggest social issues is all of the people losing their jobs. Which is being caused by our bad economy. Which is another big social issue. Our economy is at such a big down fall it has caused many industries to go under. as an example we can look at the big three falling under right know. i read that there could be as many as 3 million jobs lost and 60 billion dollars in the first year alone. i think if things get any worse we will end up having another great depression. In Michigan we base our economy off of cars and the big three. If they go under were all screwed. let's hope that we can bail out the big three and turn our economy around. If we don't bail out the big three i don't think there will be any jobs for us to find a year or two after we graduate. then what do we do about the future generations there screwed even worse than us. i think that the jobs that are left we will take and then they won't have any.
For tonight tell me about a social issue that you think is impoprtant in the world and what you think could be done to fix or help the situation.
the social issue i find most ridiculous and annoying is the bias in media. i find it so aggravating that the media can say whatever they want and they are always right. one thing i find the most annoying is the media's view on the war in iraq. i personally have a cousin who fought for 4 tours of iraq and Afghanistan, and he constantly told me stories of the gratitude and respect for our soldiers and their cause. i also dislike the bias of issues of shipping jobs over seas. think about it; companies have to turn a profit, and sorry if i offend anybody, but companies send the lower income, mundane, repetitive, and otherwise unwanted jobs overseas. because companies have to turn a profit. while they keep high paying, high esteem jobs over here. creating some in the process. i almost would go as far to say it is a little bit of a motive to do something with your life, and go to college, get an edcation, and excel in your career.
A big problem i think right now is the war in Irag. I think that because this war our economy has gone down a lot. Houses are almost impossible to sell and buy and many companies are going out of business. Also car companies are having a very hard time selling cars, especially suvs because of gas prices. Although they are down right now, i have a feeling it wont last very long. This war is also creating problems in Iraq also and many soldiers are being killed eveyday. Many people are out of jobs right now and many are low on money. I think the war plays a big part in this and is causing our country to have a big problem in our economy.
For tonight tell me about a social issue that you think is impoprtant in the world and what you think could be done to fix or help the situation.
One social issue i think is important in the world is world hunery. People all around the world just throw away good food. And other people for different places around the world are striveing and trying to stay alive. It just seems wrong that there isnt enough food for everyone in the world. One thing we could do is stop throwing away good food. another thing we could do is donate money for the homeless. I really dont know what else we can do to help. THis is one social issue that needs to be more addressed.
While not trying to sound pompous and an arrogant ass, I would like to note that gas prices are now down to 1.82 USD from 3.32 USD. Oil prices have slipped from 120 USD a barrel to barely 55 USD a barrel. The rise/lowering of gas isn't all greed, it's economics, and when prices slip THAT quickly, it means that the economy is going sour, fast. Instead of complaining about oil prices, people should be complaining about low mileage cars. I find it ironic that the lady with the Hummer screams the loudest about gas prices while lady with the Prius is content. To an extent, don't whine about high prices when your car only gets 11-16 mpg, it can be easily avoided by getting smaller, more efficient automobiles, which, unfortunately for domestic producers who do not provide such selection, is a widening market. Well, was a widening market. Toyota has slipped, yet luxury brands have not. Go figure.
And, also, to anyone with their issue being the imminent failure of GM. I'm a believer in economic Darwinism, as well as Darwinism in general. To GM's claim that "no one will buy a car from a bankrupt company" I would like to point out that no one is buying a car, PERIOD. People are simply not financially inclined or capable of purchasing another 20.000+ USD gas-guzzler. Toyota is even slipping in sales, ranking 2nd behind the former VolkswagenAG, now PorscheAG. The reason they're still OK in sales is because the majority of vehicles are luxury, and rich people can still afford that 120.000 USD A8 with all the options or that new Lamborghini that they have their eye on.
And, to anyone who says terrorism:
Terrorists are a product of the United States. Think about it, the country is (until next year) run by a Bible-touting man who has incited pretty much everyone in the middle-east and other countries who isn't: a) Christian b) an America-worshipper. Technically, that places me in the category of terrorist, but hey, least I've got lots of company. Osama didn't topple the towers because he's Islamic, he did it because he hates what America stands for in his eyes. That means he hates the licentiousness, education, administration and the very, very America-centric attitude. While still no one can have a perfect government, and technically, democracy is the worst kind according to many, many of the ancients and other analysts today.
Anyways, rant much.
For me, I think that the biggest social issue concerning the human race is social immaturity. Simply put, we are all too immature to really get along right now. This is the all-encompassing way of saying war, racism, genocide, persecution, terrorism and all those other fun things. We as a race are incapable of doing anything to solve any of these problems without first maturing and realizing that we're all human, not everyone thinks alike, and not everyone will get along no matter how many laws, edicts or prophesies are set out. Just think, if we were able to understand that, how much further along we'd be. It's comparable to wondering where the human race would be scientifically if the Vatican didn't withhold/burn all those ancient scientific texts out of a desire to remain the biggest business in the world. People are unable to stay away from power, unable to not make judgements, unable to live peacefully. This is social immaturity, and before we can do anything to solve any other problems, we need to tackle this first.
I believe a major social issue is the world economy. Everything with our world economy just seems to be on the downward side of things. The big three and most auto makers her in the USA are suffering due to global inflation and poor the poor economy. Gas prices has forced the price of almost everything we buy to double but wages are not doubling which as left to many people not being able to surrive as they were. I believe the main things we should fix currently are the global economy and keep gas prices stable so that was prices for everything we buy can be reasonable.
