Tomorrow you will have time to work on research paper and group project. Make sure that groups have decided who will be doing what for the project and paper. It is unacceptable for one person to do more than one part of the group pieces. If this happens, points will be deducted from the project.
For today:
"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly."

This quote is saying that if you stay dedicated to your work, you will prosper. I agree that this lesson is learned very early in life, as it is a necessity. I think it was introduced to me when I started school. This skill has developed since I've been in school. I don't know exactly what the end of this quote means though. I believe it's saying that you can't be good at staying on task until you're old..? Anyway, I think i'm pretty good at doing what I have to do.
Procrastonation is only setting yourself up for failure. If you just keep on putting the things off that you know have to be done, you will get nowhere in life. The key to success is staying on task so that you can make yourself do the things in life that you have got to get done. You mine as well get all the hard stuff out of the way, so you can have fun later is the way that I see it. It is obvious to see the people that choose to believe this statement, and live by it because they are the ones that are most successful. They are the people that know what they need to do, and just so it, rather than the many people that would rather put it off until it causes chaos in their lives. This is the last lesson that you learn totally and completely before you can be successful and do big things in your life. Don't put off the important things that you know have got to be done, in order to reach goals in your life and to make sure that you stay on track with the tasks that come at you!

this one hits home, because naturally, i am quite the procrastinator, and i usually do the bare minimum. my a.d.d. also has somewhat a severe effect on my performance and want to do my homework. but basically, the idea here is, as long as you complete your work and do it promptly and to the best of your ability, that is true success. the best lesson to learn is this. it will repeat itself and reinforce itself over and over again. wether it be in work, school or life in general, this is one of life's most redundant lessons. as long as you complete your task, promptly and to the best of your ability, that brings true self confidence.
This blog means that we all have a purpose in school and we learn from our poor mistakes. Me as a person i procrassinate all the time i either over think things way beyond what they should be so much to where I end up stressing myself out and ruining things for my future. Even though like in school for instance we have a tarty policy the only reason we have that and we may have to stay after school is that in real life if you are late for your job you could get fired so being on time to class is just the begining of our future lives. With true sucess comes dedication and sacriffise you wont get everything given to you in life so it is important that while in school you spend the time learning from your poor mistakes that could cost you your future plans. Putting off your most important plans in life will hurt you in the long run.

This quote is saying that education helps you get things done in life. I know this because without the an education I wouldnt know how to do much today. Without an education nothing would be getting done in the world. Getting a good education should be the firs thing any person does in his or her life. People who dont get an education usually dont get things done in life. If anyone wants to prosper in life then they need to get an education. Education is the most important thing in the world to get today.
He is saying that you should just do things kind of un willingly. It is saying that the best thing to do is to fall into good habits. You should just be in the habit of doing school work with out even thinking about it. But for some they fall into bad habits. Such as not doing school work of even drugs. Bad habits are hard to break. And it is even harder to start good ones. But sometimes people just have to fight through and break that bad habit they have always had and make good ones.
Your are the one who picks if your goin to learn and how well you will work for it. this quote is stating that no one can make you learn and no one can work for you and you learn at the same time. because if they do then its just a waist of time becuase your really not learning it. The other person who is leaching you is. So if i were you i would push your self to your full potenchal. I wish i tryed harder sometimes. so waiting to do thingings is only making your self come closer to a failur. SO try hard and you can make it.
you just have to believe in your self, and not slack.

This quote is saying that if you stay true to your work, you will continue to succeed. Also, that you have to work on time. Procastoning will only lead to failure. I actually have a problem that I relized through this and it is that I don't do my math hw on the specific day it is given. I procrastinate and wait till the day we turn in and I am in a rush to get it done. Therefore because I wait I don't learn like I should and dont do so hott on the test. I need to get in the habbit of doing my homework so I can do well on the tests. It's just so easy to not do it and I choose not too because I am lazy. Its eventually going to catch up to me. I'm screwing myself over in the long run.
Thomas H. Huxley is basically saying in his quote being lazy will only hurt you in the end. It better to know that from the start to work hard. To no matter what go after what you want and to always go above and beyond expectations. This way not only will you be proud, but you will also be excelled. I completely agree that most people learn this lesson last because they live out their entire lives knowing that they can get away with so many things and wait to do it last minute. But when it comes down to the final and most important it is that often one is so stuck in their procrasinating ways that they are unfarmilar with going beyond expectations that they don't know what to do. I must admit that just like everyone else in my family, I am also a procrastinator and I am trying to work hard on it and try to get things done as soon as possible, and to my very best ability.

p.s do i have to keep writing my name at the end or do you know me by my screen name now...?haha.
this quote is saying that if you keep doing what you have to youll go far in life. if you take breaks and slack off the rewards will be few and far between. you also will notget as much done as you are capable of. if you work hard all the time you will have awards waiting around every corner. you also will get done what you need to. in addition you will have more time to do other things as well. one the the best places to teach you this habit is school. everything you do in school requires this mentality. school is where you practice this for the real world and if you screw it up in school you will probably screw it up in real life to.

Thomas H. Huxley has a great thought, it is the one who gets it done that will make it through life. Learning to do things when they need to be done is an important leason. You learn many things early in life, but if you dont know how to do your objective on time then wht good are you. Being able to get work done is single handedly the most important life leason. If people lack the erge to get things done, they wont be successful in their life jouney. It is easy to get off task, and hard to keep on task unless you have 100% concentration on the job at hand. To develope the desire to do your work is to develope as a mature responsible human being.
"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly."
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of this quote is being lazy. You are not going to go far in life if your are lazy. You have to some how get by your laziness and do what you need to get done. An example of this is in school. Many people are capable of getting good grades but are lazy and don't care about their grades. All they have to do is do their work and they can succeed. The quote is saying that the real skill in education is to get what needs to get done whether you want to or not. This is because it makes a huge difference in the future of what you will become.

Haha i just had a leson on this. I had to do some online home work and I was geting frustrated doing it and wanted to quit. My dad wouldnt let me so i had to keep going on no mater what. This is probably the biggest life leson. Every one needs to learn how to finish what they start. Along with learning how to finish somthing they are told to do, evean if you dont want to do it. Some day we'll have a job and our bos will tell us to do somthing we hate and dont want to do, thats life. We need to man up and deal with it, doing what we are told and finishing what we are told are two things people need to learn. And like the quote ses "Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do."
Doing a thing that you have to do is simple; you seemingly have an infinite amount of time to complete the task with these words. However, doing a thing that you have to do within a certain deadline is much easier said than done. Americans in general are quite accustomed to procrastinating, and as such set themselves up for mediocrity. Starting work on a project two days before it is due isn't a great idea, as the assignment will most likely be fair at best. Start work on something the day that you are assigned it and gradually work to completion. In doing so, your finished project will be very accomplished, not to mention you won't feel more proud in the end. This being said, many a man indeed learns this lesson of pro-activity rather than procrastination lastly in his life, as it is roughly the most difficult to adapt to. Even the greatest of achievers, the smartest of minds, the strongest of arms, and the best of all procrastinate severally throughout a period of time, as it is simply the easier thing to do. The absence is work is much easier than the burdens of it, eh? Huxley's quote rings true for every respondent answering this blog; hell, there will almost certainly be a few people who complete this blog when the midnight hour approaches.
If you do not follow the message of this quote your life could be very very painful down the line. You should always do the best you can for starters. You should also get this done as soon as you can. Do not take an excessive amount of time to get your project done because "it'll only take an hour". You should go out and spend as much time possible to do the best you can. If you push it off and percrastinate(word may be off due to spelling errors) youll suffer greatly. You need to take control of your life and make it the best you can be, do not wasite your life pushing it off to the last moment
If you have to get something done, you must do it. You should accept your certain responsibilites and do them. You are only truely hurting yourself in life. If you choose not to complete what you need to do. When the quote talks about being the last lesson you will learn, i beilive it's true. Some people take a long time to figure out what they need to do and actually do it. If you take responsibilities you feel truly happy within yourself. You know inside that you did it. That is a great feeling to know you have completed some thing.
Well, this should be an interesting post; my putty-tat found an empty V8 can on my desk and is trying to eat it while laying on my keyboard and trying to push my Mac off the desk... His ass in on the backspace key and I don' have the heart to shove him off, forgive any obcsene mistakes.
This quote, while I cannot personally identify with, is one that holds much merit and proves itself over and over. It also reminds me, ironically of the fortune in the fortune cookie at the Thai restaurant I went to after school. After wolfing down my pad ped, getting the bill and opening the cookie, I read my "fortune". Education is the path to freedom. While noxt exaactly earth-shattering, it holds more than an ounce of truth. If *it*, also holds more than an ounce of truth as well as ties in directly to this quote. Education gives you power. It gives you freedom. Education gives you the world. Thomas Huxley understtood this, and unfortuantely was correct in saying that we only truly learn to do the right thing when it's too late. Another irony in the course of humanity methinks. One that, probably we will never overcome as humans are much too inherently selfish.
Like I said, forgive me for the spelign mistakes... Kitty won't get off my keyboard.

i think that he is trying to say that when you have to do the necessary things in life you have to do it whether you like it or not. If you don't like it you should think ahead to the future and realize it's for your success. i really think that is true that you have to do things that you don't like to do just to succeed. i look at this and think about the responsibility of school and homework. know one likes to do home work but you must do it to be successful. somethings in life don't come easy, you must work to be successful. just like having a job if you just sit around and do nothing you will get fired. i like the part of the quote that says it is the first lesson that ought to be learned. i think it is saying if you make this mistake more than once your an idiot. i this quote is one of the many valuable life lessons.

Subject of this blog = bleh. I really don't like this at all. I don't think you should have to do anything. That's the whole reason we were given instincts. If you WANT to do something that's cool. Also if you have a goal and you want do to something to reach it that's also cool. But you have to think for yourself, and not be forcing onto yourself as you having to do something. You do what you want, those are words i live by.
The quote is saying if you give your all or 110 percent you will suceed no matter what it is. You always have to stay on task or not forget about what you are working for. If you wait till the last min you will never get anything done. So if you stay on task and give 110 percent you can acomplish anything. Education helps us learn responsiblity and knowing you need to do something. If you don't get your homework done you will get a 0. But you know if you don't do it you get a 0 so you do it so you don't get a bad grade. So that is what I think the quote means.
This quote is saying that if you keep up with your work you will succeed. I deffinately agree with this quote because if you dont make yourself do your work then you will never do it. You have to push yourself into going a little bit farther and a little bit harder. otherwise you will never achieve what you want to in school. I have learned this throughout my highschool career. In the beginning i never wanted to do my work. As the years went on I have learned that the only way i can get good grades and learn in school is if I make myself and push myself to do better.
Sorry Mr.Kay my internet was down once again last night so I am doing yesterdays today along with todays. Hope its ok. :)
